Oregon Football PREDICTIONS in game 1 vs Idaho are going to be REALLY fun | Oregon Ducks Podcast

all right Max let's dive into the numbers before we get to our final score predictions at the end of the show spoiler alert I'm going to have Oregon beating Idaho by a substantial margin here but when I look at the different offensive weapons that that Oregon has and how spread out the ball can truly be I think TZ Johnson has a big game I'll go double digit receptions and he goes for 100 plus don't know if he catches a touchdown though I I think you could see like a 10 to 12 reception day for TZ Johnson for 120 140 yards whatever it is but no touchdowns because there are a lot of other Endzone targets you know that that have big bodies like Terence Ferguson who might be playing with a club might not I think he had it off on the last day of practice after wearing one the other day but I think TZ is over a 100 yards I think Jordan James is over a 100 yards I think Gabriel just gets over 300 yards because it sounds easy on paper I do think there can be a challenging component to that because I don't expect him to play past you know about the Midway point of the third quarter at least he shouldn't need to and then Oregon should be able to run the ball pretty effectively Gabriel's not going to have to you know throw the ball 40 times in this game but I do think he'll create enough explosives and organs receiving core will will push him over that that 300 yard Mark so I I think those three Heavy Hitters for Oregon hit those thresholds in game one against Idaho it certainly seems attainable I the one with with Gabriel might be the one that is the most up in the air Spencer right because you mentioned that he probably won't play the whole game and I think you do have the chance to hit it though with some explosive plays and some deep shots on that uh on you know in the first half whether it's TZ or or Evan Stewart or some other receivers so I think that's all pretty attainable uh I think one of my like surprise storyline predictions which was kind of around the the statline conversation so maybe I'll just pitch that in I have I have the Ducks forcing three turnovers or three takeaways I something pretty exciting for fans to see two interceptions and a fumble so uh they they gota be one of the better teams in the country at forcing turnovers I think they were last year I'm not sure where they ranked statistically but I think it was in the upper tier among college football is best and with all these Playmakers on the team Spencer I think that should be the expectation once again this year yeah so interesting note from last year's game against Portland State Bo Knicks did not have a 300 yard game Oregon had two 100 yard receivers Jordan James ran ran for 86 yards on just 10 carries Bucky Irving went for 119 on four touches this is a higher and Big Sky defensive line that had some experience for Idaho so I don't think Jordan James goes for 119 yards on on four touches like Bucky did last year but certainly if you give Jordan James anywhere from 15 to 20 carries he should be able to Eclipse that that 100 yard mark mark But if Oregon has two 100 yard receivers in this game and TZ Johnson is one who would you pick as the second that the obvious answer might be Evan Stewart but I was gassing up trean Holden on yesterday's show because I'm a big trean Holden fan I could see either one of them going for going for 100 plus that is a good one well I don't want to take I don't want to take either of the guys you mentioned because that's those are like layups it feels like um and Gary Bryan junr by the way questionable for this game yeah yeah I'm gonna say Terence Ferguson could be one possibility I hope he gets more volume this year I'm a big tight end fan um and then but we throw Kyler Casper out there um he there's just so many options at receiver Spencer Kyler Casper is one that fans have been waiting to see breakr for a while jion Dicky is is another one and I love his story just about everything that will Stein had to say it's not as easy as you think get his uh had the injury that hindered him he was trying to get his body right and now he feels like he's moled a version of himself because he goes from 99 to 13 which he wore in high school so um I kind of want to say a little bit of jury on too because he's a bar a guy but I'll go with Terence Ferguson and Kyler Casper to eclipse the 100 yard mark one one of those two maybe not both but one of them yeah I I think it'd be really cool if you know Kyler or or jion got a big time opportunity in this game and if Gary Bryan Jr is banged up because he's such a proven commodity I'd almost prefer he doesn't play and you gave Kyler or jur on that opportunity to get some game reps and you know showcase the fans the the potential that they've brought since they were recruited to Oregon out of high school over the last several years but let's end with this one before we get to our final score predictions here Max how many quarterbacks play in this game I'm I I'm 60% confident I'll say that that number is three that you see Dyan Gabriel Dante Moore and then a little Austin novad novad had I think one drive last year against Portland State I'd love to see him get that opportunity as well but you know Gabriel fascinating to watch but so too Dante Moore how does he look in this offense and then what does Austin Nova said look like after shining in in the spring game I hope we get to see all three and I I lean towards the answer to that question being yes I think three is is a reasonable reasonable number for for quarterbacks we expect Oregon to see because you got to think at this early point in your schedule it only benefits you to play more and I think that that has been one of my knocks on Oregon staffs in the past is not getting other quarterbacks enough snaps when when things are kind of put away I think that that was one of my criticisms I guess if you will When Ty Thompson elected to transfer I just don't understand why he didn't get some more snaps out there um I think did a much better job of that than Mario there there were games where you know Herbert or Anthony Brown were were in the game in the Mario crystal ball era where you look at the score of the game and you're like why why is he still like one in particular um you know Ty Thompson obviously wasn't on the team and for those interested Tai Thompson actually got beat out for the starting quarterback job down at two lane which I think stinks for him personally but such as the way of college football there are a lot of talented guys out there 2019 Oregon was up big against you and Herbert was still in the game in the fourth quarter I think we're all watching going what is he doing what why why why is he on the field risking injury with the game still in hand so if Dylan Gabriel and the first teamers take care of business they should be out by Midway through the third third quarter and or or maybe even earlier than that and then you should be able to get Dante Mo and Austin Nova side a couple of drives each yeah and I think as excited as I am to see Dante Moore if he is in fact the guy who takes over for Dylan Gabriel in 2025 um you know follows in his footsteps I should say I still really want to see Nova sa I've heard so many good things about him so much Buzz um everyone seems to really like him around the facility and and in Eugene so I don't see any reason not to get him on the field especially if the game's put away yeah and you know he was kind of the surprise standout of the spring game you know he had the bad bad decision on the interception he forced it down down the field and then after that you look at every throw he made and you go wow he gets through progressions he's putting the ball accurately he's making back shoulder throws he had that perfect throw to tfur who uncharacteristically dropped it with Tatum tuote draped over like he made some high high level throws in that one so I'd love to see him get a chance we'll wrap up real quick here Max with our score predictions I've got Oregon 66 Idaho 10 final score in Oregon coverage that 43 and a half Point number that they're favored by we're not too far off I wrote on scoop duck 70 to1 um run up the score poor Idaho what did they do to you Max what did Idaho do to you but give Oregon Kenyon sadique because I I was thinking closer to like
