Let's talk about a Listeria outbreak linked to Boar's head deli meat. I think a lot of us may have some of this in our refrigerators right now. I know I do. So it's got our ears perked up, officials confirming at least nine people have died, including someone right here in Florida. We know Claire Alfred is on your side this morning. She's here to explain what health experts are recommending to keep you and your family safe from the food board ill illness that we're seeing right now. Well, and according to Doctor Nicole, I, being from U of health, if you have boards had deli in your fridge, you want to throw that out of immediately. She also says that until the outbreak is resolved, that you should steer clear of any deli section, especially if you are compromised, elderly or pregnant. Now, one thing that is really interesting about the star is that while one, less than 1% of all illnesses are caused by the is actually responsible for 25% of the deaths that occur due to food borne illnesses and it usually takes the symptoms up to two weeks to show up it's a tougher micro organism to kill anything that comes in contact with asteria can stay infected despite being put into a fridge or freezer. And in recent reports from the Department of Agriculture, they found unsanitary conditions in the Boar's head deli meat factory impacting dozens of different products, lona or liver worth or whatever it is. Now, doctor, I says that you shouldn't wait until you start experiencing symptoms if you've been exposed to a, she says that if you know that you've been exposed to the deli meat that you should immediately contact your health provider, especially if you are compromised, elderly or pregnant reporting in Jacksonville, first coast news on your side.
