Las Vegas Raiders Have 2 Rookies Skyrocketing Up The Depth Chart

what's up everybody today on Sports St extra we're talking about the Raiders all right how did it make you feel were you like me did you watch prime time all right did you watch Burman all the time and how did you feel about him when he was talking about your Raiders you know I mean that dude just knew how to get a fan base excited now for me as you can see we're Lions fans I got lion stuff in the back we got the hutch Jersey this is our second Channel we have another Channel called Sports talk Detroit that we absolutely love doing we're not shy about that but we love the NFL so we wanted to talk about it more I know Burman for us it was all those tricky lions and I liked it but I always kind of hated it because basically it was like the Lions suck and uh they're tricky though so you never know they might get you no but the Raiders are Raiders that was so cool man all right this is not what we're talking about we're not here to talk about NFL prime time um what we are here to talk about is two rookies that are absolutely Turning Heads two rookies that are skyrocketing up the depth chart um and they are ready and looking like they are going to be players who will honestly help you this season pretty likely and those guys are DJ glaze all right and Dylan Lube Dylan La he's out of New Hampshire he's a running back let's talk about these two guys and just spend a couple minutes talking about what what you can expect to get out of them we know what you get out of your first two picks right we get that Brock Bowers he's going to make an impact is he a tight end is he a wide receiver who cares dude's going to catch footballs and he's going to be a great football player for you enjoy that Talent there may not be day one when he steps on the field he may be the most talented tight end in the NFL just know that all right it's really exciting um Jackson Powers Johnson was my favorite my favorite offensive lineman in this draft number one behind well interior all right I thought Joe Al was a camp missed tackle so naturally Jackson Powers Johnson has to be rated number two but he's got a starting spot all but waiting for him but there's another offensive lineman at rookie that has made some noise at camp and that is third round pick DJ glaze all right and he did well enough against Max Crosby in practice this week that it actually tweaked the pass rusher a little bit now doesn't take too much to tweak Max Crosby to get him a little upset all right but he absolutely did he stepped in for a banged up mford all right and he was not embarrassed by Crosby now if you're a rookie third round tackle and you don't get embarrassed by Crosby is that a win I think it is I absolutely think it is as a lions fan I remember pan Su first round pick all right Taylor Decker gets hurt pan Su had been practicing on the right side gets moved over to the left before the first game of the season against the San Francisco 49ers and he's got to go against Bosa and he didn't get embarrassed and that is when you knew when he didn't get embarrassed going against Bosa that this dude is going to be legit all right and he now is arguably the best tackle in football just three years later just three years later now I'm not saying glaze is going to be the best tackle in football what I'm saying is that you have found yourself a starter I think you have found yourself a starting caliber tackle in the third round that's not easy to do all right tackles are not easy to come by he's got the size at 6'4 315 pounds and uh Pierce actually went up and said yeah he played well against Crosby but that's not when I first saw him here's what he said um he said he showed up up Tuesday in a big way he didn't blink he didn't Flinch that first rep against Max is always going to be tough but as the practice went on you saw a guy growing but forget Tuesday since he's gotten here he's been steady Edie he's been consistent in everything he's done he's learning from the veterans and doesn't say a lot he puts his best foot forward every day you have to be excited about where he is going and his approach that's what's up that's what you want to hear that's what you want to hear all right Crosby and him were doing some chirping back and forth and by back and forth I mean Crosby was chirping at him and let me just tell you this it does it sound like for Crosby for all of his intensity all of his Insanity whatever you want to call it is there a better teammate to have the dude is constantly being talked about by how he's helping his teammates the information that he's giving with them whether it's practice whether it's games like the dude is just all go all the time all right he said sometimes after a rack of play this is glaze talking he said max will come find me and say hey this is what I saw if you squ stayed Square this much longer I probably would have had nowhere to go he said reps are important but having one of the greats tell you what you can do better is ultimately what's going to help you improve your craft it isn't any better than that and this tackle situation isn't terrible for the Raiders but there's room for a better caliber starter to take place and so at least what you can have this year is knowing if there is an injury that there's a third round rookie that may actually be ready even sooner than expected all right so let's talk about the other guy um let's talk about the other guy because that that's the one that is actually surprising me I uh recently had the opportunity to draft I uh I was doing a Fantasy Football Draft right and took your starting running back all right took him first all right zamir and then uh I actually later in the draft like with one of my last picks selected Dylan L because I thought maybe he would get some extra run I don't necessarily see that out of him I I I don't see him being this like starting running back caliber 200 carries type stuff but here's what I do see a little bit in him is Austin Eckler I see some Eckler in him and you can ask me all right so what why do you see that this guy was very prolific at New Hampshire does that matter no no it doesn't all right it doesn't He's listed at 5926 all right when he actually weighed in at the combine he was 5'9 and 597 so almost 510 and he was 206 all right what amazed me about him was his athletic profile look at this thing it's a 9.2 he ranked 142 the 142nd most athletic running back I talk about r on this channel all the time I don't think it's the end all be all it just tells me if you have a guy coming out of New Hampshire does he have the athletic ability to compete at an NFL level and the answer here is yes and where he's Elite is his agility so what does agility mean can he make a guy Miss in the hole can he run good routes all right the three cone what kind of a route Runner is he going to be can he be that safety blanket on third down Amir Abdullah I know him well all right he played for the Lions and he's played for the Raiders and you want to talk about a guy who is I mean he was drafted in the second round should have never right but talk about a guy who has made a lack of athletic ability into and size into a Long NFL career good for him who better to learn behind than Amir Abdullah Amir Abdullah what I always say is famous for trying to run too fast faster than he can and then falling um he did that a lot in Detroit he's gotten better now but he's found a way to stick around and before he was missing practice reps all right because I believe he's had a camp injury here um even before that happened all right Lube was already getting work on third Downs expect him to be a third down type back Amir Abdullah had 34 touches last year as an occasional third down back Dylan could do the exact same thing this year he could replace Abdullah in that now they brought in Alexander Madison who can do some catching out of the backfield but at the same time Alexander Madison is a veteran running back that could fall off a cliff at any moment and some wonder if he did last year some Wonder all right because when he was asked to go from just a backup roll like sharing the load while Delvin cook in Minnesota took the bulk of the carries and he looked good kind of in that helping a running back role I think that's the role he'll have here behind zamir white um or even like a 50/50 thing there's still room for Dylan to help in that and Madison won't be here forever I'm telling you even if it's just a small roll this year there is a spot in the future for a third down back like this it it there there is all right Pierce said this as well he said it's wide open it's wide open everywhere talking about the running back's room it's competition and I know it's kind of cliche but it's true zamir has gotten better as far as catching the ball out of the back field and Blitz pickup there are some rookies out there that we see flashing he's talking about Lube he is and one of the things that they're saying he's good at right now is catching the ball of the back field and pass protection the two most important things for a third down back to do and something that usually is hard for rookies he's already doing it well he a pierce also had this to say about him he said this is what I love and this is what I'll let I'll I'll end uh this video with he said and the thing that is the thing about it is that it's not flashy if you don't watch practice close talking about Dylan you might miss him but if you really watch the body of work you will see a rookie that is consistent and that's hard to do at this age they usually get a little tired by now they've been training since January but he's making the most out of his opportunity he's not getting tired he's only getting better two players selected not in the first two rounds that are making noise that's what you want to see because that's the sign of good draft
