good evening I'm Mike Norris and you're watching tune in news TV tonight we bring you a significant development from the world of professional football has the Green Bay Packers have made a roster move that will impact their offensive lineup for the entire 2020 for season the Packers have placed running back AJ Dylan on season ending injured reserve due to a neck injury effectively concluding his 2024 campaign before it even began this decision comes as part of the team's roster reduction to meet the NFL's 53 man limit for the regular season Dylan who is 26 years old recently suffered a stinger during a joint practice with the Denver Broncos this injury is particularly concerning as it marks his second stinger in less than a year with the previous one occurring during a game against the Minnesota Vikings last December for those unfamiliar with the term a stinger is a nerve injury that can affect strength and function in a person's arms and hands the recurrence of this injury in such a short time frame raised significant concerns among the Packers coaching staff and medical team head coach Matt leur had previously expressed worry about Dylan's condition stating absolutely there's a concern in emphasizing that the team would proceed cautiously the decision to place Dylan on injured reserve without a return designation indicates that the final diagnosis may have been more severe than initially believed this is a significant blow to the Packers offensive plans for the upcoming season Dylan was expected to serve as the primary backup to newly acquired star running back Josh Jacobs last season Dylan rushed for 63 yards and scored to touchdowns showcasing his value as a powerful runner in short yardage situations Dylan's Journey with the Packers has been notable since being drafted in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft over the past for Seasons he has played in 60 games accumulating 2,428 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns while also contributing in the passing game with 86 receptions for 763 yards and two scores with Dylan sideline for the season the Packers will likely turn to rookie Marshon Lloyd and Emanuel Wilson to fill the void behind Jacobs Lloyd a third round pick from the University of Southern California showed promise in college with 820 yards and nine touchdowns in his final season however he has been dealing with his own injury concerns including a hip issue early in training camp and a hamstring injury during during the preseason this roster move may also signal the end of Dylan's time with the Packers as he returned to the team on a one-year deal this off season there's a possibility that Dylan and the Packers could eventually agree to an injury settlement which would remove him from injured reserve as the Packers prepare for their season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil on September 6th they'll need to adjust their offensive strategy to account for Dylan's absence the team's depth at the running back Position will be tested early and it remains to be seen how this will impact their overall offensive production in the upcoming season this is Mike Norris reporting for tune in news TV we'll continue to follow the story and bring you any updates on the Packers adjustments as they prepare for the 2020 for NFL season stay tuned for more sports news and Analysis thank you for joining us and good night [Music]
