The Surprising Reason Your Allergies Are So Bad Right Now

this year the rag Weg counts have actually been lower than what is typical and you can thank the weather for that the weather has a huge impact on the amount of pollen that gets released the endless rain that Eastern Canada experienced this summer put a damper on Ragweed pollen production that means the 500 plus millimet of rain that fell on the city of Toronto for example was actually a blessing for fall allergy sufferers as the 416 is usually a Ragweed Haven however Fall allergies don't stop at just Ragweed the top allergens that we see are actually not pollen it's the fungal spores that are the major allergen at that time things like bidio spores which are from mushrooms alternaria and cladosporium and these spores love wet weather the soaking spells may have hindered Ragweed growth but fungal spores are thriving earlier this year the fungus bores generally don't increase until the weather starts to get cooler and wetter again in the fall but we've seen so far through August especially that the fungal spores have been higher this year than normal some of the highest counts have been seen across the Canadian prairies so you get the same kind of hay fever allergies but it's just uh just a slightly different cause other Fall allergies include grass which the aerobiology lab is still tracking at high levels in West western Canada which is typical for this time of year fall allergy season in Canada usually starts at the end of August and it can be a Nuance until November [Music]
