because it was produced without the benefit of federal inspection the jerky was shipped to retail locations in Alabama Florida Georgia North Carolina Oklahoma and through internet sales according to fsis the products were produced without the benefit of inspection by two different owners of The Establishment ownership changed hands on June 11th 201 24 the name of the establishment and the products have remained the same there have been no reports of adverse reactions in connection with these products if you have this product return it back to the store for a full refund an update on bores head deli Boar's Head Update meats the latest in the leria monocytogenes outbreak of bores head deli meats made at the Jared Virginia plant apparently the deli meats were not just meat and spices according to Fox News the US Department of agriculture's food safety and inspection service published a 74-page PDF earlier this month detailing the numerous violations that were found at the Jared Virginia plant from January 2022 through August 1st 2024 to date there have been at least 57 hospitalizations and nine deaths in connection with the deli meets there have been 69 records of non-compliances these were flagged by inspectors over the past year at the Jarrett plant food safety attorney bill maror called the Jarrett plant a leria factory he told Fox News in the 30 years of doing food safety litigation I have seen several hundred inspection reports this group of non-compliance reports are some of the worst that I have ever seen although bores had expressed sympathy to the affected families on their website that does not change the fact that their plant was a breeding ground for leria records of reports were made that the machines used to make the deli meats were not cleaned they had meat residue and meat buildup on products other violations included condensation dripping on uncovered meat gnatlike flies bug like ants pools of water with one puddle having algae growing in it there were pools of blood and one of the coolers smelled rancid they also found a beetle and a cockroach and a black mold like substance if you have ever seen cockroaches you probably know that if you found one you usually have many more that are hiding if all of these violations were flagged way back in January why wasn't something done then production at the Jared has been paused since late July apparently it is not going to open again until they have fixed all the issues and it meets the USDA regulatory standards will you feel confident in buying that brand of
