you guys do great content and I'm a big fan of your show and I appreciate you so now to answer your question very nice of you thank you just you know always wanted to be in this space you know I grew up in in in Germany and everyone knows that I'm a big kid at heart and you know this was just you know something that I decided to do a contact with my good friends at Hershey and they decided to partner with me and this is what we came with and every time you get mad at me Pat you can just bite my head off yeah I see they're actually shaped like your head and then there's a sour one that is nothing short of impressive if a business person went to business school and was able to be a part of this many business successfully they would be put in a Hall of Fame of business they would have schools named after them they would be giving speeches in every single business class and everything you're a dog do you need to know that and the way you've handled being a sports guy and business guy is something that all of us look up to is this is there more on the way how do you have any more time or effort to push any other businesses I saw that New York XL New York uh pizza last night from John with some sha I mean that is it looked damn good that's going to get me all year how do you have time for all this Shaq legitimately how do you have enough time for all these things to be successful because they all are well you know you know coming from a team sports concept you have to delegate and you you have to utilize your teammates you know as great as you are on the show The good-looking guy does his job the mustache guy does his job I know coach is going to do his job and the guy with the big Hat's going to do his job so I have a team that manages a lot for me but growing up my father was a Jos sergeant and he used a lot of negative stories to motivate me and the story that made him upset the most is that 65 to 70% of all professional athletes three to five years after they're done playing have nothing and I was the one that got my family into the new situation that we were in and I want to keep us there you know it's no better feeling to just walking in a rich neighborhood and tell your mother pick a house no baby we can't afford it yes we can we can pay for in cash so you know a lot a lot of you know a lot of things that you saw over there are companies that I'm involved with companies that I believe in believe it or not if I if I don't like your company I will not take your money yeah respect yes yes can't do it so you know to me it's all about relationships and you know just you know doing the right thing and I have as well as you you know we have a younger children looking up to us so we want to you know show them that you know you could play sports and you could also do other things but you can still be successful you're not going to ask me a question you're not going to ask me a question supermodel face no he's he's next but before before we get to him I I just have to tell you you're also not only showcasing the young kids you can do Sports and do business you can also take care of people the amount of people you take care of just for no reason is admirable and it inspires the out of me just want to let you know that and uh keep doing it Shaq you crushed it now to super model home plate face AJ Hawk yes yes Shaq yeah I don't know if you might be the only person to say the supermodel face thing so I Do players reach out to you to learn about your business endeavors? appreciate you uh and you saying that but I want to know about your whole business world with um current players all we know a lot of basketball players get paid a ton of money now and a lot of them you know venturing into business do they any of them reach out to you to try to figure out how they can get their foot in the door with these companies how they can try to build a portfolio like yours no uh that's why I just try to do things and just try to set good examples and you know I'm I'm a kid and you know I said this a long time ago I use jealousy to motivate me so for example the Luca is about to get the 100 million right Pat yes sir if I was him if I was him I would just say okay just pay me 20 million this year and defer that 80 million just defer it to to I'm done playing I mean because you know I mean because you know that 80 million is not gonna really be that 80 million after taxes but I would say just pay me 20 million and the other 80 after taxes just put it away I don't want to see it to him 35 like those are the things that I would do if I was making this this money now but nobody has ever reached out you know everybody has their own individual way of how they make money and lose money and all that but you know everyone knows that I'm an open door really okay so what do you think it is you like um I'm a pretty talkable per or talking person you get it you get what I'm trying to say so when I go into an NFL locker room and I see like Adam veter is the guy I'm like I'm gonna go ask Adam veter a bunch of questions pton Manning was in there I'm going to go ask pton Manning a bunch of questions and is there something you think that this next gener like they don't want to they don't think they look cool if they ask for a like why do you think nobody has reached out to the big diesel what what do we one day and he tells me it's okay to be famous but you want to start owning things and I'm like what the are you talking about man and then I will watch him and do this and do that and I was like oh that's how you do it and then I just you know took his blueprint and sh cified it and here we are but I I don't want to answer for the new generation even though they are different you know the way they think is you know very very different but you know it's understandable it uh happens the shakam matics uh of it all um the sh activities uh are certainly ones that have been how how many words time and you know Rudy goar's on his way but do you think that there's a chance that uh wemi will become the most dominant of all time just because you know what he's on in the pace that he's on to go with San Antonio and papovich I could tell Do you think Victor Wembanyama will be come the most dominant player of all-time? you're one of those new generation guys you have to tell me what your definition of dominance you tell me okay mine was we're terrified of him we have to change the rules for him nothing we can do can stop him we're going to bring it we're going to bring an extra players to stop them and you have to be uh consistent with all those things at least five six seven years wimy is a great player but I don't really think you can be dominant when you um shoot jumpers a lot I think if he was an inside player at 75 the answer would be yes but when you shoot jumpers you're always going to go up and down coach can tell you that but but he's a fine player I wish him well and you know I'm just glad after not being in the league so long to still have my name in that category you know people always talk about the goat there's too many there's too many names in the goat when you talking about the most dominant there's only one or two players and I wanted to pass Will Chamberlain up so bad because I was gonna arrogantly say I'm the most dominant ever I pass him younger kids who never actually got to see you play Live growing up like now they just know you as like you're the incredible guy on the p uh panel itself but when it when all that stuff was happen with I know you guys have the you know another season this upcoming season but all that going on with where's it going to go what's going to happen was there ever a point where you just kind of got sick and tired of all like the pontificating and like all the rumors surrounding it or were you kind of thinking the whole time like hey in the NBA on TNT show end everyone knows how great of a show this is everyone knows how important this is to the NBA as a whole and all this is going to get solved one way or the other first of all tough guy I'm not asking that question until you spell pontificating what the what the does that even mean p o n t i f i c a t i n g he's got a big brain that guy choose big big bra no so so we have one more year left so I am the consent professional so I'm not gonna go left or go right I just know we're going to do this year and hopefully something can be arranged out to where the show continues that's all I'm at Liberty to say right now uh was I upset and frustrated not really because as you guys know when it's not in your control it's really nothing you can do so again I'm going to just keep it professional we got just one last year left we an athlete how was that and and what's your takeaway just from nil as a whole it was very interesting and again it just made me go back to God damn I wish I was this age and even with and even with the nil like you know I I was I was having this conversation with my son I was like listen you want to take the short money now or you want to just work your ass off and get the long money at the end yeah yeah I mean because you know at that age you want to reach success but when you reach success and money you get to that point to where you get kind of lazy and then you have to be knocked around again and you have to have a special what see why you think it's only a small number of guys that make it to the NFL NHL MLB NBA like some guys reached that Pinacle and they just stop guys like me and Pat we didn't stop we kept it going we kept it going so you got a quarterback you got a quarterback making $3 million a year what's the motivation think about that like three three million is a lot for 18 year old what really is a motivation so I've always been able to look at both sides I I've always said that colleges are the place of Higher Learning like me I will probably only take one check get my mother a house pay it off everything else I would have to wait and that would be my self motivation to say okay if they're offering you three now what'll happen if you're the number one pick how much can you get Shaq that's your mindset though since you're a kid I assume like you youve just thought what you say were other people's what was the line AJ were other people's thoughts their their thought process apexes is where mine begins I believe you said yeah your thought process is starting at the climax of others you know thoughts and everything like that I got a $40,000 loan out in college to have a good time I was on full scholarship kicked got a loan out and I was people say out of control I I I would say I was very much in control 40,000 Dam you was rich I got the I got a pelg gram for500 had to buy a used Bronco 2 for 1,200 and had 300 ones and I used to walk around campus with this big KN like I was rich yeah absolutely rubber band yeah absolutely you got to do that down you of course but that was like a 37% interest rate on that loan that I got out sh you so yeah yeah but it was over Night 2 a.m. I actually put the the call in called Sally McAfee hey need you to approve just sign off on this thing if I don't make it to the NFL I'm in debt like everybody else if I make the NFL we're signing this thing off immediately my mom's like that's a very high interest rate it's like it we're gonna have a good time here and I couldn't even imagine millions of dollars for 18-year-olds from some of the places like legitimately I I could not fathom it they got to be much more mature than I speaking of young guys in very very pressure packed situations Chuck has a question for you Shaq hey Shaq I looked at the uh the computer computer today I think the calendar the NBA calendar gets uh ratcheted up towards the end of this month I think SE September 24th is when things start to get going what's the state of affairs down with uh with the The state of the Los Angeles Lakers Lakers right now JJ reic coming in in there as the as the new head coach um how involved are you if any and how involved are you and do they have you cuz what you've done is is absolutely incredible not only on the court but off the court now as a businessman you have so much to give to so many young people the people that will listen do you have a chance to impact the the the people on uh the players on that roster and the young players especially on that roster the answer is no coach that is the LeBron show LeBron is in charge over there uh I think shame on me I think personally they're going to have a rough start and what I mean by that you know as a coach it's all about respect and you know if I'm a guy that's played seven eight years and I'm getting a young coach who I think I was a better player then this is going to be a level of you know disrespect there LeBron and AD will do a great job of keeping everybody in order but you know I always said that if you really respect your coach you really go out there and and play hard you know I was uh fortunate enough to play for the field Jackson and the pat roders because I knew they knew what they were talking about right all the other coach is no disrespect to him like it was moments of time like I don't know if that'll work but when Pate says okay down by one you run this play you run that play because when I was a kid I seen him win five in a row I was playing against the Chicago Bulls when they swept us and they won three in a row then Mike E and came back and won three more so when you get coaches like that the antenna's already up so my my thought process is will the intenders of the players be up when JJ reic talks we don't know but we shall see they're calling him the next p right in that the he's got a lock stop it stop it stop it no stop it that's what you B that's what basketball maybe not you but basketball people are saying that I'm just I'm just observing and Reporting what they're saying that's what I'm telling first of all JJ's a nice guy Pat rally is is is the man so imagine you come in and JJ reic starts yelling at you it's gonna be a fight in there young coach like JJ who doesn't really you know he doesn't have the resume yet what can he do though to earn that players's trust their respect where they can hopefully eventually get that moula moula he's a good one yeah spoler has to do it he has to he has to uh learn the culture know what guys like and what they don't like like for example you can't yell at everybody Phil Phil Jackson was a master of that he he he' bring us in to interview us but he was really you know you know trying to trying to check out our psychological state so you know he would hand out these books like you know you can't yell at certain players so he he's going to have to know each individual their their dos and their don'ts and what they can like and if he get on that good side they'll ride for him but you get on the guy's bad side that's gonna make the uh job much harder again go ahead no no I was going to I know you have to go and like I'm excited to see if JJ R can handle it that listen I like listen
