big games today boy big games today welcome to laramy Wyoming and one of the highest elevations you will find in all of college football and it is home to the Wyoming Cowboys and they have a taste for the spicy brown mustard as we wind our way toward the end of another college football season one of the Grand Traditions is paying tribute and respect to those who have just poured their souls into the success of this program and honor the seniors on senior day as we'll see the number 12 team in the country the San Jose State Spartans taking on the 16th ranked team in the land the Wyoming Cowboy for EA Sports college football I'm Reese Davis Jo by D poock and Jesse Palmer guys let's tee this one up and the returner could find no daylight he goes down the Cowboys offense is going to be backed up thanks to that lackluster return and here's the band They rally around and he has earned that type of respect David you dang right you earn it by doing it and he's done it at such a high level everyone believes in this young man in Palmer there's a reason why you're right David he's been in the Big M and he's won the big games this guy delivers when the game is on the line the emotions and energy figure to be high all day guys because of what's at stake this late in the season really a must- win for both teams these are the ones that get your blood moving re you get jacked up man you don't have to say anything locker room these big Spees you know what's at Jesse you're ready to rock and roll this is when you prove you're the big dog which is pretty cool too because it's been a long season and these teams obviously are both tired but you're right for this kind of game this is the one you circled at the start of the year you knew that this was going to matter there was going to be a lot on the line now it's time to go out and prove you're the better team here they come to try it again on second and 10 from the 20 J he's talking [ __ ] over there he's looking to throw going deep makes the grab inside the he flips his field in an instant and he's got him set up at the 20 I love when you back good old trip if you want to get aggressive I'll take shots down the field make the defense play more conservative and now what now you're in the Red Zone with a chance to get some points let's put it together here [Applause] boys they just flipped the entire field and now they'll try to cash in on First and 10 from the 20 they're looking to pass from the Red Zone got his man quick he's there to the theing that could be open over the middle over top of uh boys come to the line with a new set of downs turning to the running game on first and goal forges ahead for one to the 8 yd line let's see if this offense can answer the BT their coaches challenged them all week long when they got down to the Red Zone we've got to be able to run the football because we're going up against a top 10 rushan defense let's see if they can let's go baby that's the way that we get started today Dallas how youings to get this guy the football in the passing game and defenses can't cover with that last catch this is now his 10th receiving touchdown on the season [Music] [Music] [Applause] getting set for the point after Dallas don't be an extra point is good and it's why you on Le so a drive there of 85 Y and they finish things off with an 8 yd toss for the score about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown and he takes this from inside the five find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 so San Jose State offense has the ball for the first time and they seem to believe that they can take big plays away and man coverage by just locking him up in this matchup David and it's hard to lock down a great wide receiver but a great defensive back versus a great wide receiver we got a showdown let's be honest David most defenses don't have a dude like that a cornerback that could do that in a game like this but this matchup is unique and it's going to really determine the outcome of the game the give to the back and he won't quite get there but boy after that pick up just a few inches to go for the first and a way of possibilities here and when I can run the football like that on first think little B so I think I'm throw the football or run I will have a lot of success on the offensive side of the football and the Spartans pick up the first down I love when players understand situations and they understand where the first down marker is and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll see run north south and try to bounce out wide and make big plays sometimes it's not about making big plays sometimes it's about getting that first down to make sure I get an EXT instead of trying to make those big touchdown looking man coverage you can throw the hitch route against right when the receiver's got a little bit of access he's got some room to work with against press you're risking a pick six so good decision there by the que knowing that was a good look to throw in what again got to get on that you got to get on that get him at the 45 but he got 10 on that one the Spartans are moving quickly down the field they'll ride the running back and leave it with him there we go he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple you know when you're playing against a defense of this Cali you're going to have to have some sort of balance right you can't just drop back and throw at every single play nothing going on that last run they're going to have to find another way to get it going hand in the ball come on and I love this because you got second and really really long and what's the idea of the offensive courin get third and management nice job get the run a almost spre third I bring it any close enough looking to take a shot he's got it inside the 15 and he eluded the def just not even like brother look for the ball man you stop instead of attacking man is that perect you can tell quarterb drops back he sees his guy and he knows he's open but watch the throw deep down the field Palmer right in the red B nice play should he did a nice job at getting it up in the air early and allowing his guy to run under the football located it and then make a tough grab that is the definition of an explosive play oh and they Ted on the extra point so an 82 yd drive there was there and the finisher coming courtesy of that touchdown toss from 45 yds out and we're all square as he set to kick it away he'll start the return inside the spot really job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 Wyoming takes over the football and the cowboy offense on its way out that last touchdown Drive was surgical through the air Jesse it sure was and that's why this offense is so dangerous David because they can score in a hurry because of how efficient they are thr the football and welcome to Modern college football that's what it is spread you out find my Playmakers make quick decisions and really put defenses in a difficult situation starting a drive like that really builds confidence first down from the 45 quick strike complete and the defense stops him just short the may get set for second down go to the second we'll let that go to the second that's the end of it's been punch counter punch throughout the early part of this game as we take a look at the first quarter stats get the ball on the ground a little bit slow it down some they fought to a stand still in the first let's see who gets the edge early in the second we'll get this corner going with a second down [Applause] play should be a free Block on the outside from the gun running back on the move and the Cowboys get the first down I know this is an offensive line that has a pride they want to come out each and every game and really impose their will on the dline they got just enough push there on that one play to pick up the first need the blocks give me the blocks give me the block going to ride this running back I likey like get start the ball so he can break some of those big runs but I'm also okay with these little ones set the tone stay balanced didn't get much on first down it's second and nine he's looking to throw fires to the big fella I like this tight end he does a really nice job on his route running he's been beating man coverage he can find the soft spots in zones got to get him involved now facing a third and long from the gun wants to pass gets it out quickly good tackle there to stop him short of the first down and now they have to make a call yeah and that was tough on the DB right he's trying to cover the receiver on a drag route running back over the middle of the field you're trying to avoid all the linebackers all the congestion he just couldn't stay with them long enough and as a result fresh set of downs for the offense they call out a first down see [Applause] from this spot on the field that would be a 53 yd field goal but they'll leave the offense out there the wind pushing at me too he's looking to throw little time let's it go get up there we go finds his he's out of bounds but a big it'll be a first down the Cowboys come to the line with a fresh set of downs get out why are we slow he just way too phical at the point of attack he beat his man trying to block him and he tackled that receiver on and now on second down for this offense the give to the tail back get to the corner baby get to the corner got he threw him in come on close to that end he could almost taste it but it'll be first and goal for this offense how about this offense a little count a little misdirection get everybody's eyes going One Direction they go back the other way nice execution by the offense to make the big running play down the field a first down run on the doorstep stopped and they try the middle of this defense and that is not happening and the D Deni them on second and [Applause] goal little over anxious out of the stance early and it's a false start start off the officials offer the deal and the coach accepts it they will take the penalty can the defense stop them again on second and [Applause] goal off play action under heat and he gets rid of it he just tossed that one out of bounds you avoid the sack you avoid the turnover you've got more plays here on third down the offensive line has got to give him at least a little bit of time to survey the field he had no chance that that time getting hit almost immediately after he got the [Applause] Ballfield this is where we got to get there kid tackled there by the [Applause] defense wow look at this you could take the lead with a chip shot field goal here instead they'll try to finish this drive with a touchdown and he roll touch down cowboy I mean fourth and goal and what does he do he makes plays this is why took us way too many plays to score down the down in the one Y Line there took us way too many plays to score [Music] [Applause] lining up for the Patra point and the extra point is true and they're on top by seven and for a quick update let's go to Kevin you never know what's going to happen in college football Hawaii is ahead of this one but unlike the playing days of Brennan and Timmy Chang this has not been a blowout today in Aloha Stadium they up by by seven over Fresno State for now it's back to you fellas but if changes we'll see it right here and how about that one Kevin will be keeping an eye on everything going on elsewhere got the Quick Pass he will step out of bounds but not Pi up and a first down for this offense we've reached the two-minute warning and we have ourselves a ball game and they have a chance to take the lead here before the half they'll snap it from the 36 they've got a first down 25 he wants to throw and physical play there you know it's for Q sometimes your running backs because they're not receivers you really got to be perfect with the ball placement you got to make that a catchable throw a little bit too tough for the RB on that one he's going mid and the pass is incomplete jar by the hit catch the that not so middle the it's Presley another incomp third down and the Spartans will we got time going to get his D here a high kick let's see if he Canin him back deep in their own end the in at the0 Wyoming has the football back and here comes the offense man what a drive last time for the touchdown that passing attack was Lethal David yeah and you know you hear all these stupid commentators like me and Jesse talking about create balance you know run and pass no when you throw that good spin the ball around so the defense has to find a way to affect the quarter last drive he had way too much time one of the first things I want to do when I come into a game I'm going to go where do I have the advantage where are my guys better than yours and maybe they feel good about their match up out wide some of those wide receivers good job baby boy good job baby boy is a good for this and this has got to be so demoralizing for this defense right now having given up multiple first downs on this drive somebody on defense has to step up make a play and stop the bleed little touch pass to the receiver runs through the tackle really nice stop there from this senior leader there are not many passes out of going to work on second down in the red zone is still some ground or we want weak there in the corner he's looking to throw I read that way late they'll get it I read that way late thank you defense is backed up against the wall tight quarters deep in the Red Zone but they can pick up first down without scoring third downi they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one there's a Timeout on the field tight game here late in the first half they'll send out the kicker to try to salvage this drive it's good and that will extend their lead even further [Music] so they get the field goal now about to kick it away you get stop you go to feeling really pass and nobody's releasing why like The Kill was no chance at a return here they'll start this drive at their own 25 state has the ball and ready to go on the attack this lady behind you love to create he got selected also had some on offense a big part of why you're losing the game right now the 30 just making a huge he sets him up all the way down at the 14 but uh he played CFL ball European league and then the we got he got like draft damn got drafted or whatever to uh or not Minnesota uh Memphis Memphis looking downi it's Presley there it is thank no wonder that weak to I think he had to step on him here's the hand off makes the tackle at the 30 after he picked up 10 we've got a timeout in the waning seconds of the half a chance to get off a couple more plays one more snap coming before you have a problem re is showing it's not it's not where I clicked there we go wants to throw on first down damn it make the connection incomplete pass and one second remains got one second left let's go couldn't make the connection on first down now here on second I get my hot r on thanks thanks he's looking to throw there brother we take the yards they finally we'll take the yards I was hoping for a big the hoping for a big hit there up by 10 and a half's not bad though we've played two quarter here time to go to Kevin I'm pretty sure that they do have the uh gentl the fourth quarter start four quar start thing on their based on the comparon between third down conversion how can you I mean is to look at some of the explosive plays we seen panic but really this game is going to come down to which team is more efficient when they have the ball and how they play when it matters most we need and with that let's send it back to the guys at the highest elevation in all of college football AR going to help us and the Cowboys will try to kick this one deep to get things underway in the second half here he comes from inside his own five and they'll haul down the returner to start us on the next Drive the San Jose State offense is back on the field I imagine we'll see them go right back to work up top after how productive that passing game was in the first half and it's interesting if I'm the defense and I've got the lead they've had success throwing the football but we're winning I I don't know that this defense changes too much of what they've done in the first half I think they got to do a better job of pass rush they might want to change their coverages as well because they're probably at this point expecting this offense to have to keep throwing considering they did have success in the open run way ahead oh just left him flailing and he picks up the first down and he does it I'm not going to say spin move that was a pirouette it was elegant it was beautiful I got you bud looking to throw it's Presley complete oh he's so hard to get on the ground he's got room I don't I don't understand the underneath coverage [Applause] P what do they got press there we go from the gun they'll try to impose their running game he rolls all the way down to the 5 yd line before they finally get him stopped you're down obviously at the half you had a conversation we got to come out and put points on the board and Jesse it looks like they're going to start with the ground game and I love this David too regardless of whether they're losing or they winning come out here and try to be the most physical unit here in the second get the tackles here boys get the freaking tackles bance back out they' got it down to the three now it's second and goal Powers forward he works his way ever closer all the way down to the one yd line they moved it right to the edge and they need one more yard for the touchdown on third down trying to slam in damn it just hammer it with this running back again and he knowses his way into the end zone if you're able to move the ball in a drive like that the most overrated stat in football would be field position agreed and I think confidence is Big right now after that last drive to be able to flip the field like that struggling right now I need geia run I want to see highlight thisit Drive is going to pay big I think it's been like three years since they last one and with the extra point AC I don't expect them to win the ACC but I expect them to if it's happening in college football we've got eyes on it check this out Kent State is currently ahead inside a jam packed dick Stadium but the golden flashes have not been able to separate themselves offensively are a lot of coaches don't kick the ball out of the end Zone they want them to return the football so Something Good Can Happen so you can put a hat on a football cause a fumble make something happen Palmer and that's exactly what the kickoff unit does man I love kickoff coverage units David that take pride in their jobs these guys want to line up they want run down the field and hurt somebody that was a huge gamechanging play but toore smashed brother they're just about to kick it off after that scoop and score six Wyoming 17 he'll bring it out it's Abraham pull down at the 18 and the decision to bring it out of the end zone was not a good one Wyoming takes over the football and the cowboy offense on its way out now they find themselves behind David let's see if they have an answer yep losing the lead obviously lose a little bit of momentum but this offense back let's get a drive starter going find some guys you know going to make some play not challenge for them you got to answer right you got to take the field here you got to physical and regain this lead quarterback making adjustments with his receivers on second down just keeps firing grabbed in the middle it's weeks hustled down at the 32 after a pick up of five well the defense did a nice job taking everything away down the field but once the drag route was caught they just couldn't rally to the ball carrier in time to make a tackle and as a result new set of downs and a nyd gain on first down leaves him with second and short coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that from the gun the G looking for room really nice run there good solid pick up and they'll move the sticks for the first down and a great job by the offensive line you're going to run the ball right at the middle you better control the line of scrimmage you can see the center the guard the tackles doing a good job getting on their guys just enough where this running back can get into space and make the big game he lets one fly deep he's got it at the 15 touchdown Wyoming and that one will put him up here in the second half it's so nice to have guys out wide this just trust that you can feed the football and this guy will do the rest we'll cross that goal line we'll take care of you make you look like a genius that's that kind of guy right there I see map big old [Music] baby lining up to tack one more onto that lead and the extra point puts him up by a field goal a very efficient five play scoring drive and the finisher coming courtesy of that touchdown toss from 45 yd out the kickoff unit about to go to work on the run from inside his own five good job by the coverage unit put a stop to that return guys this San Jose State offense trying to get this ball moving how about that blocking up front in that running game last time as they just walked it down for a touchdown and the big boys up front doing their job opening The Backs making plays everything on the ground this not that good and we know that this is the identity staff wants for this team right they want to be the most physical team on the field let's see if they can keep it up looking to pass it's Presley brother I'm being held makes his connection and just a short safe pass play they pick up a few great job by the defense seeing it right away reacting to the screen going and getting the football and getting the fast playmaking got the completion on the last play still some work to do on second down he's looking to throw on target to the left this gu and they were looking for a chunk play and they got it the explosive picks up more than 30 well how about the offense setting that play up we've seen earlier in the game a couple shorter throws they're just trying to suck those safeties closer to the line of scrimmage anticipating that they would get an opportunity to take a shot they called the perfect play at the perfect time right there now on second down take it into the fourth [Applause] guys we have Wyoming on top as we reach the end of the quarter and as we switch ends of the field let's take a quick look at the national rankings one quarter to go and might we have the makings of a classic fourth quarter finish we'll start the quarter offense about to snap on second down lass he's back to throw on second down oh they like a double screen there okay he's really close to that first down Mar stop him just a bit short I like the decision by the quarterback here just get the ball out of your player a lot of times dance and make even bigger plays than he did here but it was still a positive game to throw it's Presley fir to the tight end boy go coule hey really nice job on defense too understanding the situation it's third down we're fine giving up completions right there we're not giving up the first down we're keeping the football and the ball carrier in front of us and we're tackling the catch awesome job and now You' set up fourth down knocked it right through showing that big range from 4 y all right boys and that's why this leg set anywhere on the field and he puts it right down the [Music] pipe she sh so coming down the stretch in the fourth and we are all tied up about set to kick it away on the move from inside is five just never had a chance to shake loose and he'll be brought down at the 24 Dallas Wyoming has the football back and here comes the offense they'll run it from the gun just what they were looking for to get this drive rolling they're out to the 35 and I don't care if I do it by two by 20 by 30 by 40 I just I just want to get the first down understanding the situation understanding where the sticks are doesn't have to be but I got to make sure I get to that stick block there not a whole lot of made there on the going to try to keep it on the ground Pi they come to the line Second and you know it's so important for offens is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down from the gun give on the inside One Step W twep squeeze this junior knows how to get him on the ground thir offense breaks the Huddle it's third down from the gun wants to pass catch in the middle it's weeks and they can I get a tarting callow what a great job by thatter finding his open receiver on third down you know guys one of the most telling stats at the end of the game is third down conversion percentage if you're a great third down team it's invaluable to your off Dr third they'll a minimal pick up small gain I know but again the defense knows he's going to run the football he's willing to run the football not just drop back and pass make him on to the Run game you got to do a lot of this they move the tight end all over the give to the back slam to the ground but not before he gets the first down all right defense that's that's what we came to we can't give up this many chunk yards on the ground got to commit more guys to the line of scrimmage got to get those running backs on the ground that's way too easy so smart play here to the ground he's got it again step up that second strong safety got three on first down it's second and try to get the edge with a quick touch pass what why am I having hard because there's always action off of it right if I fake this pass I can run it up the gut or I can throw it I just spread me out and make me defend so many things and you could tell they got on the edge quickly got the big first down the offense showing motion from the tight end trying to get a read on the D keeping it on the ground with the running back they pick up half of it it'll be second and five I know the passing game sells and the passing game is exciting but it's not exciting to get five or six yards of pop on the ground but it will be very successful halfway there on first down it's second and five they try to pop a run on the draw and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go well they try to go with draw they didn't catch the defense blitzing so it wasn't a great look anyway but up front they just got beat regardless and that back David had nowhere to go he had nowhere to go but those offensive linemen you got to set and you got to invite those defensive linemen up the field and kind of to push him by and and you could tell they didn't do that they didn't create any holes there was really nowhere for him to go you got to give him that first little hole then maybe he can make a move so the offensive line needs to do a better job from the gun on third down he's got the tight end caught he got caught tackle there to stop him short of the first down it'll bring up a big decision quick timeout by the defense there trying to make sure everyone has the same call and now on fourth down they will put it on the shoulders of the kicker to save them with his foot you got to give this guy so much credit man it is so hard to simulate that pressure that he just faced late in the game seconds left on the clock you have an opportunity to kick a field late in the game and he absolutely drilled it what a moment for that young man after putting up the field goal they set to kick it away he'll take a knee it's a Touchback save every second he can as they try to put together this final Drive San Jose state has the ball and ready to go on the attack Jesse they had to kick a field goal the last time they had it and often times early in games you're just trying to find your Rhythm some things work some don't on that first drive David be interesting to see what happens here in the second Drive yeah you got to feel for the defense now you understand what they're trying to do what their game plan is now you get to go into phase two of your game plan they immediately call timeout trying to preserve every second they can to try to rally here late they're running the curl route against Zone coverage the quarterback knows that's going to be a tight window he's got to rifle that ball into his wide receiver he does just that and as a result they pick up the first in PS it in and how about that the doctor always ordered an explosive play to the 40 quick timeout called by the offense after the play trying to preserve every minute [Applause] possible he'll come out throwing on first down it's a midde inside the got to be kidding me brother the fin taking the lead really good execution by this offense late in the game under a minute score to take the lead it's what you draw up it's what you dream about but now my defense has to go on the field and get me one more stop he just runs right by my guy Fri is not a slow kid either like ling up to add another and the extra point is good and every Point counts it's now a fourpoint lead in the four let's go to the studio now and check in with Kevin Conor Kevin what do you got phas Minnesota and Wisconsin do battle every year for Paul Bun's ax and let's recap who's taken that sucker home Wisconsin delivered the type of thrashing generally reserved for homecoming games in Madison thing is this was a road Victory and a win like this is going to resonate throughout the Big 10 it's one game you don't want to react too much we at home I think team I would understand if we're anywhere else right anywhere else we're literally at home off getting set for first down quarterback checking off he'll set up to throw the no chance there is no chance there is no [ __ ] chance after a there is no [ __ ] chance when you're down late in the game you got to make plays it's really tough not to force the football you could tell quarterback forces the football defense comes up with a huge interception they'll run it on first and goal they get him on the ground at the three yd line but this defense is taking some punches defense uses a timeout quickly trying to get that ball back and preserve time for their offense they've got it down to the three now it's second and goal tries again to get it in touchdown Spartans and they add six more to the board with that trip to the house that score will give him a little more room to operate here in the fourth quarter as they go their six straight win that is exactly what you want your offense to do you want it to eat clock but if you score go up by two possession nail me coffin great execution by this offense to put this game he'll bring it back from inside his SP he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Wyoming takes over the football and the cowboy offense on its way out I know the situation looks bleak but have we nothing if we don't have hope David amen I mean keep hope alive fits this pill around use every second you got make this game cmer as close as you possibly can crazier things have happened in college football man let's just go find out let's find find out where the Playmakers are lined up and see if they can make something positive [Applause] happen he'll try it again on second and 10 takes a hit as he fires that pass is incomplete and they're probably fortunate that it wasn't knock free for a fumble all right youve dug yourself a little bit of a hole offensively you know you're going to have to throw it here in the second half you're going to have to make sure though you do a better job up front with your pass Pro you got to keep your quarterback standing upright quarterback will audible on Third and long he's going to have to throw for it and he's got it inside the 20 they get the timeout called with 7 seconds left on the clock the entire complection of this possession changed on that one play now they've got it first and 10 inside the 20 quarterback now on the Run still looking and that one is picked off in the end zone and with that turnover we come to the close of this game just annoyed so annoy so annoy one on the fumble on the kickoff like can we [Applause] can we get [Applause] something you're going to hear guys after this game say got to work harder got to be more intense you know sometimes the harder you try the wor it seemed to me that's what happened out there if it is it's just never really got this team there's no doubt they've got a lot of very talented players on both sides the ball so David I don't think this is a situation they need to now freak out and try to reinvent things on other side of the football just being in better Rhythm early and trying to find that in their next game I think would go along yeah and it's just finding a couple of those plays what what do I do really really well let's continue to build on that let's take away these negative plays let's take away these turnovers how do we create more turnovers I think that rhythm you're talking about
