what's going on everybody and welcome to another episode of the Nicks recap podcast you could be anywhere in the world this afternoon but you chose to be here with me and I really do appreciate that as I said I'm your host Troy and again Nicks Nation I see you chat gang I see you as well too as you guys know we have a ton of Nicks content to cover today I'm talking about Julius Randall potentially will he sign that contract extension I am talking about the Knicks potential trade targets will New York go small next season there's so many different things to talk about and when I was creating this episode and thinking about special guest because we do have a special guest to get to I was thinking about who should help me discuss all of these updates when I was thinking about that I was thinking about experience and I was thinking about time put in and I was thinking about 27 years about covering and writing for the NBA we're talking about my very special guest today his name is Howard Beck he is with the ringer Sports and by the way you probably seen him before uh in a lot of different uh Outlets we're talking about La Daily News the New York Times Bleacher Report Sports Illustrated you can catch him every Monday as well too on uh the real ones podcast for the ringer he is the always great legendary as I've called him Howard Beck what's going on Howard how you doing today man tro doing well man hope you're doing well as well uh thank you for the very kind introduction uh I hope I'm not uh blushing too much here Hey listen listen if you're blushing that that only means that the intro was as legendary as I expected it to be so that's exactly what I wanted but again thank you so much for being on the show I really do appreciate it so many people have asked you know about different special guests to have on and you know people always ask me why I bring on certain people when I bring on certain people especially like you know for instance you or Bagley or other people like that it's people who I grew up you know reading watching people that I've covered Inspirations to Me and You by far legend in the game we're talking about 27 years you guys can see his at on screen at Howard Beck please do yourself a favor and follow him his last article on the ringer you can see it was written there the NBA's free agency apocalypse I want to say excuse me apocalypse is not here you can also catch him again every Monday on the real ones podcast uh for the ringer show and again one of the main things he was talking about uh in the article he did mention the Mel Bridges trade in there if you do want to mention anything you read anything about the Knicks he covers everything in that article as well too something to look at but one thing we were talking about off air Howard and you know something I want to get to all of your years are covering the NBA we're going to get to the Nick stuff guys I know you guys are you know heavy with that and like I said before we're going to get there but I want to talk about something that only really you can answer 27 years covering the league you've seen the ups and downs and everything but something that doesn't really get asked about is the way the league is covered now because I feel like the way that journalism is even nowadays has shifted from you know say 1997 to 2024 right so just in your opinion can you speak a little bit about how you know covering the league has changed from a a journalism standard point so ex me a point of view yeah I mean listen I I could do three hours on this we don't have three hours your uh followers and uh viewers don't want to see listen to me rambling for three hours about the state of sports journalism um or its Evolution over the last 27 years however uh I will give you the short version short version I mean first of all the fact that you and I are doing this right like this platform this means of even uh talking about the league reporting on the league did not exist when I started covering the Lakers in 97 for the LA Daily News right um I was a you know lifetime newspaper guy thought I would spend my entire life in newspapers just you know an anonymous face behind the by line right I I was not doing there was no video to do there were no podcast there was no Twitter there was no social media the internet existed but you know it not nearly as extensive so for most of us who came up at a certain time like you thought all right this is this is the job for most of us I'm a reporter I'm a writer beat writer covering the Lakers back then and eventually the Knicks for the New York Times and I I could have done that my whole career and been perfectly happy with it I think but the landscape has changed dramatically um our world has changed dramatically and at one point in time I I I would have I would I would have thought it was a joke like if you had said like oh one day you'll be you know doing like all this other stuff you'll be basically be like a broadcaster right and because I never saw myself as a TV person um the fact that I do video podcasting radio everything else uh as extensively as I've done especially for the last 10 years 11 years since leaving the times not something I ever could have imagined so there's that part of it Twitter has changed our our jobs in so many ways the way the NBA is reported on has changed dramatically not all for the best by the way um but I would say that the media ecosystem in 20124 it's it's broader it's deeper it's more diverse it's more uh interesting nuanced like every single Niche you want if you just obsessed with salary cap minutia there are a bunch of people out there writing really smartly about the salary cap with Way Beyond what I even understand about it at this stage because it's gotten very complicated if you're just um if you want to get into the granular details of the X's and O's of the analytics of sport Science of anything like all that coverage exists now and in a purely newspaper environment or I should say like newspaper TV radio right just the traditional kind of like Triad of of media coverage back in the day everything was more generalized because you had to appeal to the broadest audience so there there's no possib ility of of having somebody who specialized just in X's and O's or just in analytics or just in salary cap stuff and so the the positive part of it is that no matter how you consume the MBA no matter what kind of fan you are casual hardcore whatever little sub interests you may have all of it's out there and if it's not you can create it yourself and and and and be that you know you know create that Niche and and carve out a part of the market um that's the good news the bad news is like you know the the the media landscape is just really volatile um you've seen some some uh movement in our ranks recently uh on on the NBA there there's other stuff going on um at various various uh other platforms right now not for me to discuss but like yeah there's just a lot of movement and volatility I mean I listen obviously you know I met the ringer I'm very very happy thrilled to be there for the last year it's it's coming up on my oneye anniversary congrats man but uh thank you but it was you know uh little little little rocky ending at Sports Illustrated where they you know laid us all off and it was a rocky ending at bleach report where they laid us all off so um there's there's the shortest version I can come up with of uh the media landscape question but see that's the thing though that's the Insight that we can't get I can't get that anywhere else the only person who could really answer that question is you and anybody else who has about 27 plus experience years doing this and by the way that list is very very short so uh again legend in the in the game I want want to say thank you again for anybody who's listening or watching I've said this to him person but I want to say it on air as well too inspiration to me the reason that I'm doing what I'm doing right now is because back way back when when I was a Nick fan and I used to go scour Bleacher Report reports or go on Nick news and try to look for the you know New York Times I would read Howard Beck I would read the New York Nick stuff he would write and that would get me inspired to be more of a fan so things like that help people as we are today so again I just want to say thank you so much for that and um I also want to go to our next topic because again every body wants to talk about the Knicks right now and really because the Knicks are a contender status I feel like they're trying to find other things to talk about we're going to get into why things are spoken about in the first place but really the conversation has to start with updates on Julius Randall and that contract extension with the Knicks now as you know Howard with the Julius Randle He was eligible for a contract extension with the niick starting August 1st I believe it's four years 181 million and according to uh Bobby marks the uh Market plays a huge role in terms of what determines a player salary he a player that's had a surgery the last two years with the most recent one being a serious shoulder injury that caused him the uh year since January and when talking about free agency Bobby March put it out there stating who is New York competing against out there in the offseason is Brooklyn willing to spend 40 million on Randall are the Wizards or other teams going to do that it's just not there it's either going to be New York on an extension a new contract or maybe he goes to Josh Hart route where he goes into the deal before October 31st and extends off of that basically stating though uh Randall likely is going to extend so the question really was if if it's not really if it's when he's going to extend but not really sure when it's going to happen it's a multifaceted question here before I get to each and every part let me get to the first part for you do you think that Julius Randall will sign that extension with New York based on everything that you're hearing I I I I don't have a prediction for you there that I could make confidently um my my gut tells me that they'll figure something out that it's to everybody's benefit to to kind of get done and put away because you don't want it hanging over right um this is this is part of the Dynamics in the NBA like you could say about like we discuss it through the lens of like what's a guy worth how uh how much do you uh you know think you should spend on him just payroll wise how much room do you have all this stuff right what does he bring to the table sometimes it's just a matter of like just you know uh human psychology like if if he wants to be rewarded right he's been all NBA twice has been a critical part of this era um the best ERA they've had in in you know 20-some years and he should be rewarded for that and if you're Julius Randall or his agent and his family and everybody else that's hey look Max me out what's what's the hesitation but the MBA is in a different place right now in terms of the economics the new CBA the second APR and all these complications and so it's not that straightforward for the Knicks and the the the factors that Bobby marks outlined are are the are the right ones of course to look at because there's a there's a market here and if you're the Knicks it's and it's delicate right you don't want to go to Julius Randall in his representation and say listen who else you GNA sign like you you don't say Bobby Mars could say that you and I could say that you can't say that in a negotiation you're not saying like oh hey it's it's us or nothing uh where you gonna go you know the Nets and the Wizards aren't signing you and I think that Bobby's right on all that of course um so it's it's delicate because you don't want to go into the season with one of your best players uh feeling you know uh been out of shape you want him to feel part of this you want him to feel invested he probably already like it would just be this is just me talking like but I like it would be shocking if he didn't feel a little bit already about well listen they've just brought in another guy who's uh you know uh you know a offensive uh go-to guy in some respects of male Bridges different kind of player but still they've brought another guy they've got all these players who emerged last season who have become stars of various levels um OG and anobi just got a massive contract after they acquired him and they had a certain run of success with while Julius was hurt so you're probably already feeling like just a little bit of insecurity and so again the psychology of this is important I don't think you want that hanging over so if they can find a way to get something done maybe it's a shorter extension maybe it's Max number but uh shorter years maybe it's below the max but longer I I don't know maybe they find some kind of compromise just to show look we want you we value you and we want and we want him to feel good about things going into the season so you don't have it hanging over um but it's also not going to shock me if nothing gets done at all because I I I do think Julius Randall in a vacuum of course he should want and and has earned a full Max extension and I don't know that it's wise for the Knicks to do it I also don't think it's I'm not sure it's feasible right we don't need to get into all the mechanics of the salary cap and second aprons and everything but they've got four players making 20 plus million a year or 20 plus million just this season next season they'll have three guys making at least 30 or more million for the single for you know a single year um and and bridges is also eligible for an extension and you just gave up like a a [ __ ] ton of draft picks so like you didn't you didn't trade all that stuff for Mel Bridges just to like have him expire in a couple years like and he's eligible for an extension too you can't you can't pay everyone in in in in different uh other areas of the NBA uh different cbas maybe you could afford to just keep spending this CBA is designed to prevent especially a team like the Knicks with all the resources they have from just spending to the hilt um they can like it's it's it's possible there is still is not literally a hard cap but there are consequences for being over that second apron yeah and I don't know if the Knicks want to do that um if they extend Julius at the max maybe maybe they're saying screw it let's let's just uh let's just take the consequences right and though the thing is everything's pointing to the fact that they're not going to sign that extension you would figure with with Jaylen Brunson doing what he did right giving the Knicks this massive discount all this flexibility you know just thinking about how they would use it just filling in the the use of it with Julius rand's contract right now doesn't seem like it would make sense and even for Randall thinking about it outside the box here if I'm him and I'm thinking to myself in order for me to get the most money I got to show not number one I'm back I can do it and I can prove it where it matters the most in the postseason I think if I did that it' probably maximize the amount of money that I would get would you agree with that yeah and I think that there's a good case to be made for the waitand see approach on both sides right Julius show show you're healthy the Knicks are I think certainly gonna want to see too just how this team fits together now like you know Randall and and OG were not together for very long before uh excuse me before the injuries hit um Bridges is brand new to the team um the team just evolved over the course of last season and now obviously you like we'll get to the center issues but hartenstein is gone and so even though the the core of this team is back and you feel you could feel very comfortable about what their identity is there are still some things to work out what is the pecking order now um in the offense with Brunson and Randall and bridges and an anobi who's going to want you know he's he's not a go-to offensive player necessarily but well first of all every every NBA player thinks they a go-to offensive player but anobi is going to want to get his too yeah so you know T tibs has his work cut out for him in terms of figuring out the rotation making sure that everybody feels good about their role um you know we know that Randall has chaed in the past sometimes about about roll and shots and everything so I think there's a good case to be made that you if you can't figure out terms on an extension can't come to terms play it out um see how all these pieces fit together see if you really do think that Randall is a long-term piece maybe he's not you know maybe maybe you decide that you should flip him for a more reliable Center given all of Mitchell Robinson's health concerns over the years and given the loss of hartenstein so I I could see a playing it out scenario um Randle does have that $31 million option for next season it's you know if if you take it as as Bobby marks laid it out if you take it as a given that there's it's unlikely that anybody's going to scoop him up in free agency or Max out next summer and that's an inducement for for Randall to just opt in then you know you've got time as the Knicks to figure this out what do you think about the fit with Julius R that's been the next biggest question because now you have all these pieces you have all the things that matter that could take you to the championship do you think randle's fit is something to be question because you didn't mention on offense potentially maybe there is a question of where he could be in that pecking order I mean it's interesting because I think at the time that that Brunson arrived you know Randall was the clear like number one option in some ways right like this is the most skilled and accomplished offensive player you've got um and then jayen Bron turned into like an MVP candidate so there's that aspect of it there's the bringing in male Bridge's part of it there's the fact that Dante Devan chenzo just had a career season um you have so many different ways you can go with the offense now that when you ask about what's the fit I think it's unknown you I I like literally we have not uh seen any extensive version of well we haven't seen any version with bridges in it but if you if we assume that the starting five is Brunson Bridges uh anobi Randall Mitchell Robinson that that unit hasn't even played together yet so how do the shots get divided up um you know how much opportunity does does Randall get to to to cook you know we know he likes to to hold the ball a little bit too long sometimes um where you know how much is Bri I'm curious to see how much Bridges is playing as purely with the starting unit versus I've I've I've thrown this out there and it's it's a bad analogy or not a not a um just not a Perfect Analogy but I've wondered if Bridges could serve a little bit as like the Andre Iguodala with the Warriors role where you're running the second unit like Bridges can can play that role you don't want him to be your primary playmaker your your uh offensive Hub fulltime we saw in Brooklyn that that's that's that's not uh really the best use of him um he's better as your second third option but he has ball handling and shot creation skills there are things he can do and I wonder if part of the way you you resolve the just pure distribution of field goal attempts is that maybe uh Bridges comes out early returns with the second unit yes I don't know we'll we we'll see U like I said tibs is much better at this than I am so I'm sure he'll figure it out but I do think those are those are things they do have to figure out yeah and you know you want to make sure that Devon chenzo still getting X number of minutes and shots because he had a breakout season and he was fantastic um you know it's it's they are one of the deepest teams in the league now which is to their credit but is of course it's it can that cane challenges too and so when you ask about Randle fit I think all of those things come into play one of the things that um we're talking about as well too re we're talking about Julius Randle his fit which is great and all and we could talk about that and I think that over the course of the season I think he'll make it work if January was indication I know it was a very small sample size it looked like he was playing within the flow of the offense not forcing anything he can continue that and not really care if he's a number one some nights number two some nights and number three some nights I think the Knicks are going to thrive it's all about like you said the mentality how you approach you know that part of the game the other part that the Knicks have been trying to achieve ever since the off season when they made that Mel Bridge's deal is really the upgrade at the center position and when we're talking about centers is really the Knick's trade targets for next season pretty much the deadline we know the names going at some point point in time had been Walker Kessler we know Jonas valent chunis had potentially been mentioned uh there have been a couple other names Jaylen Duren from Detroit obviously has been mentioned so a lot of different targets with the Knicks because obviously the goal is to get another Center which basically tells me that the depth that they have right now at Center they don't really feel comfortable with because why else would you look all off season four a center currently still be rumored to try to get a center and then now even going into the deadline you have prua 6 million one year no trade clause obviously look like he's going to be traded along with somebody else for another piece but really just the question for you is what are you hearing around the league with the Knicks regarding trade targets and anybody they could potentially be looking at at the deadline I mean I think you named the most obvious ones um you know I don't know if DeAndre Aton makes much sense given uh you know salary there but you know uh Robert Williams III if he's healthy is he a possibility you talked about Walker Kesler but they've also got John Collin and Utah you know are one or both of those guys available I don't think V makes sense assuming that Chicago moves on from him at some point um he's not I don't think he's the right brand of of Center and again expensive so you scan the league for centers who you think could be on the move at some point or be available and there's not a ton of options valent Tunis seems like the most likely won and he's on a very reasonable contract and I think the Wizards signed him purely for the purpose of saying let's use our cap room get to the the salary floor and have a guy who you know he's not going to be part of their long-term plans but he's a he's an asset they can move later um but if alen chunis and he's not eligible for for trade until December 15th because of the uh because of signing the offseason deal when he becomes eligible you know the Lakers are probably in that that chase too and maybe some others you know um so it's it could be tough it could be tough like I have no doubt in my mind that the Knicks are going to be scouring the market uh for another Center um but it doesn't mean they're going to be able to find during the season um I think it's going to be challenging and you know again usual concerns payroll concerns trying to find the right trade they do have you look they've got plenty of pieces to move they got a lot of guys on reasonable contracts they've still got draft picks to work with so they're very well positioned but um there's a scenario where they go through the season with the roster that we see right now and you you know hope that Mitchell Robinson can stay healthy and that precious tuua could give you some good backup minutes and that you you know do you know a significant amount of of Randall or OG at the five so that's other thing with with Randall and OG at the five my concern how with that is that I I've watched Tom tho for years and I know he doesn't really do anything unless he's forcing the situation to really do it given the roster that he has right now do you see a potential for him actually going small with Randall OG playing some minutes at the five I mean I almost think it's it's by definition like he has to right like the the only aside from mitell Robinson the only guy who's even 610 or over who who might play is is Jericho Sim and I don't think Jer Sims is going to play so now it's everybody is 68 and under this is entirely after Mitchell Robinson everybody else who's a a solid rotation player is 68 or under so by definition they're going to go small whether tibs likes it or not wants it or not I don't really think there's a choice so and the thing is you you know look you you lose maybe some pure Rim protection uh and and just you know size height reach all that but you've got so many you know long strong versatile switch Defenders on the perimeter that you know there there are other ways to uh you know slow teams offenses down right you if you know Hy having somebody who can erase everything at The Rim is is nice or deter guys from getting there if you could just lock up the perimeter and they don't get there in the first place you know that's uh that's another way to go but I do think it's a concern I'm not minimizing it at all I think just having Mitchell Robinson is is is a concern um partially because of his health and partially just because you look foul trouble every everything else that that we know about Mitchell Robinson's history to date losing hartenstein was a big deal I've said this elsewhere over the course of the summer I'm not positive and it wasn't a direct swap right it's not like they decided to trade hartenstein for Bridges these were two completely different transactions for different reasons but the net sum of their offseason was they they lost their starting center and they gained a really versatile Wing I don't know if it actually moved them forward if they' hadd gotten Bridges and and had been able to keep hartenstein they're absolutely better than they were last season now I think that whatever Improvement comes it's mostly because they've got a full season of of this whole group which which again hadn't played together a full season yet because of uh injuries and because of getting ogn Obi you know last season so I but I don't know for sure that they're that they're substantially better because they I think they've lost a significant amount in losing hartenstein and it's just not easy to replace no it's really not and you know I think that it's it's a fair assessment to say that the Knicks might be a little bit worse given the fact that they don't have the the starting center anymore I would say that their roster is more complete in terms of fit with the players that they have but to your credit if somebody goes down like a Mitchell Robinson at Center it could really hurt their chances of going at least as far as they want to go during the season yeah go ahead and just to be clear I'm not saying that I'm not sure that they're better means I think they're worse just means I think they're they're they're different and they and it may be you're winning a different way uh and you're you're maybe you're about the same right I'm not saying they're they're they're regressing uh but they're going to have to win a different way without having Haren Stein and his uh his offensive rebounding and all the second possessions or he was creating um his passing abilities from that position um just his his his size and strength I mean it's they're losing a lot there but they're gaining a lot in bridges so they might just be winning in a different way so I think that's the best way to put it um and I will get to expectations for the season but actually I I have a I have a uh well we'll get to that I I do want to ahead of myself I do want to ask so though because we were talking about the roster obviously right we still see the Knicks having that final roster spot still available they still have access to the mle mid taxpayer mid-level exception obviously they don't have to use it now they can sign somebody in Camp if they want to they could wait to use that at the buyout Market in February or March if they would like to do that as well too uh what do you think uh the Knicks are doing with that final roster spot what do you see them doing given the current state of their roster because you did mention potentially that you you do maybe see this team as the roster that they go forward with for the rest of the year you you leave yourself in this you know in today's NBA with all the restrictions and all the the consequences of of you know second a else you need to leave yourself some some wiggle room they've left themselves some wiggle room so if somebody is worthwhile comes available uh via the buyout Market cool they've got seven million or so of wiggle room under the second apron um but the other reason you leave a roster spot open is so you could do a two for one trade right so if you're bringing in two and sending out one you can make that trade without having to wave somebody so you've just left yourself flexibility and it's not like there's anybody out there right now who you could sign who's going to make the rotation the rotation is stacked as it is as we've been talking about so um I I don't I don't know that there's any real good answer for that 15th spot and mle uh pieces or whatever like it's it's just kind of a waitand see thing they're they're leaving themselves the option if something comes available I think that makes the most sense as well too because given where they are right now I mean you could use it for somebody and potentially not play that person if something else Coes out right if Mitchell Robinson ends up playing more more than you expect and then you make the trade anyways at the deadline you may have wasted that money in that spot so it's a very good point I don't know what the Knicks are going to do but it does look like you know given that they haven't really done anything on the market as of yet they tried to work out other people but nothing is really stuck I don't I don't necessarily see them using the mle as of yet they might do exactly what you said and kind of have a wait and see approach my my final question for you before we get to the fan questions is and I think this is kind of what you were waiting for the uh how far can a fully Nicks team uh go this year with the current roster that they have yeah I mean listen um at this time of year you always defer to the defending champs unless they've lost significant players right so uh the Boston Celtics are and deserve to be the favorites not just in the East but in the NBA uh favorites to repeat but we also know that uh in this era nobody repeats anymore um something always happens so let's take it as a given that the Celtics are are the worthy favorites to repeat let's take it as a given that the top of the East has gotten a heck of a lot more competitive um there's a lot of really good teams but one uh the Knicks are absolutely a contender things have to break their way maybe they have they have to break against the Celtics right and against the Sixers and the Bucks and some others um but they're absolutely Ely a contender there is there is it would not be a shock to anybody in the league if the Knicks were in the Eastern Conference Finals or in the NBA finals next spring um they've got the depth they've got the talent um and I as as great as the Celtics were last season I don't I don't think they're a juggernaut um that's not a knock like they're really good and they're and they're deep and they're talented but you know porzingis is going to miss a couple months to start the season Horford is I think 73 years old I I need to look it up um I love Al Horford Al Horford's awesome um but but they have you know they have concerns there at Center themselves yeah and um look they've had an interesting offseason where you know was Tatum disrespected you because the Olympics was Jaylen Brown disrespected because he didn't get on the Olympic like are those things that are going to fuel them next season or are those things that are going to somehow you know be you know a distraction somehow I don't know um something always happens in this league uh but the one thing I will say is this and I I this is not contradicting what I said about I'm not sure they got better by losing hartstein and gaining Bridges they're going to have to win differently but they're going to have presumably Health you know uh willing a full season of a of a of a different kind of of team but one with an incredible amount of talent and great depth you take that combined with the fact that um the Sixers have to figure out a new pecking order here right they got to incorporate Paul George they got to see how that's all going to work out Paul George George and Joel and be always have have some injury insues so there's there's going to be some asterisks or qualifiers or concerns for the Sixers U I think the Milwaukee Bucks had a pretty good offseason but the Bucks you know age has been an issue for them ever since they won the championship they have injury concerns Chris Middleton gets hurt every year Brook Lopez you know you know has got a lot of miles on him so yes there I think the Bucks are a contender I think the Sixers are a contender but there are there are potential concerns there um I'm not sold on the Cavs I don't think we it's time to talk about the magic and the Pacers yet terms of that that top tier there's there's you know four to five teams at the top of the East and the Knicks are have as as good a shot as anybody I think um and in the regular season this is what I was leading to I think the Knicks are going to win the regular season in the East because defending Champions tend to you know slide back just a little bit right and it's not necessarily um you know that that it's not apathy or or whatever it's just it's it's tiring you go in a long run it's tiring bunch of their guys were in the Olympics um you're not usually the 73 win Warriors team was one of the most incredible outliers to this that I've ever seen in in in my career because defending champs usually you come back the next season there's a little bit of a championship hangover um you don't feel as uh the same urgency to be the top seed because you're defending champs what do you worri you are you worried about winning a game seven or some other critical Road game in the playoffs no you you already know it you're the defending champs you have all the the confidence in the world so the Celtics are not going to go pedal to the medal the whole season the Sixers and Bucks we've covered like they've got all their concerns but what do we know about Tom thibo he treats every single game like the fate of the universe depends on it so we know the dicks are going to try to win every regular season game we know they're never letting up and you take that combined with their talent level their depth level and qualifiers I just mentioned about the other contenders in the East I don't think it's crazy at all to think that the Knicks are the are the top seed in the East it doesn't mean I'm predicting them to go to the finals or even the Conference Finals things happen upsets happen injuries happen whatever but in the regular season Alone um I think there's a very clear and and and not at all crazy uh you know path there to to be the top seed um everybody else has has a lot else to work through but uh the the Nicks the Knicks could certainly do it so you know you did mention you know top of the East I just have to ask a small question because Kendrick Perkins excuse me Kendrick Perkin excuse me oh my goodness Kendrick Perkins said it yesterday on ESPN where he basically said that Nicks would have the best record in the league in terms of the regular season would you would you uh would you agree with that take best record in the East like I say I think it's absolutely on the table wouldn't Shock Me in the least best record in the league means they're going to have to be better than Oklahoma also Al and I think the Thunder are going to be really freaking good yeah um but yeah I mean it possible possible um I I was not aware of of perk making that claim uh but uh I I don't I don't I don't think it's that big of a stretch it might be a little bit of a stretch but I like he he did call it a bold a take so I will give him a littleit he didn't he didn't say it say bold take we're in mid-september everybody's having to talk about the offseason for like two months now we still have a couple weeks until training camps like a certain point you just got to come up with something so listen I hear you thank you Howard you've been so great I know we're a little bit above time here we got a lot of people in the chat looking to ask you some questions you have a little bit of time oh I love it thank you so much let's see what we have here got got a lot of questions over here for you and guys if you have any more questions please make sure you ask them right now we have a few minutes where we can get to them uh let's see here uh so one person says uh Tony Rivier who's a member of the channel thank you so much for being a member Tony he says Dolan loves Rand he's definitely not going anywhere what do you think about the uh the relationship between cuz he there has been something spoken about the Loyalty that Dolan has and you've seen you know obviously the relationship with Steve Mills the Loyalty he showed him and how long he's been with the Knicks so I mean there is a a fact to that what do you say about people who say Randle can never leave the Knicks because he's loved by Lon the front office and really James Dolan oh boy um I think so never discount whether it's Dolan or any other owner never discount that uh the desires and um loyalties whatever it may be of of an owner uh have a can have a massive influence on a team one of the things that has uh enabled the Knicks to finally have this Renaissance over the last four or five years four years um is that Dolan is largely stayed out of of the way you know um he has pledged to do that other times and it it never really lasts I would just say this if if Leon and his staff and again it doesn't matter on a basketball operations uh level there's always guys you like guys you drafted or guys you traded for guys you believe in this is the NBA it's a business as they always say and sometimes you just have to trade somebody sometimes you just have to not extend somebody sometimes you just have to deal with the uh the cards as they sit and again in this version of the MBA with a second apron and all these other restrictions and all these consequences for having a massive payroll you have to make pragmatic cold-hearted decisions and if that means parting ways with a guy who you loved as a staff as at the coaching level at the front office level or even the owner I would hope I would hope that if the front office concluded these are all hypotheticals if the front office concluded Our Best Way Forward is to not max out Julius Randle because we want to max out Mel Bridges and we want to make sure we're still taking care of the rest of these guys and we need to leave ourselves flexibility and we don't want to be over the second apron if they got to that conclusion and went to ownership and said it's time to trade Julius Randall or let them walk eventually in free agency I would hope that at this stage ownership is listening to the front office and their basketball expertise and their salary cap expertise uh because meddling from the top has uh not gone well for them in the past I think a lot of people who say that sometimes don't remember the Dolan days where it always used to be a constant interference with everything and I think we've been so gone from that because I really you stopped doing that when Phil Jackson kind of came aboard I think he kind of stepped away from there and even since then he's been way way more far away from there now even with Leon Rose so I definitely agree with that I I think um not meddling has helped us get here so why why ruin a good thing right so I I definitely agree with com here but I will also say I will also say and there's a story I wrote on the ringer back in the spring about this this this Nick's Renaissance and about all the things that they have done right to get here and at the at the toward the the end of the story I quote some people and yes these are folks are Anonymous uh it's it kind of has to be but these are people with uh very close ties to the franchise who basically said yeah you're always kind of looking over your shoulder waiting and wondering you know when when is when and not saying it's going to happen it's not an inevitability but there's always a concern with this franchise given Dolan's history that at some point he might meddle again so but that's that's in the story I wrote uh back in the spring and and yeah like people who work there or have worked there in recent years there there I'll just say this it's it's to Dolan's credit that he has not medled in basketball Affairs in the way he once did to their detriment it doesn't mean that he's not still um Med in a lot of other areas there uh that that that that fans would never see um I'll just leave it at that wow now that's an interesting one I guarantee either myself or somebody else is g to clip that but I appreciate that was that was a great one right there oh sorry I I was not meaning to give the aggregators fodder I never want to but no that was listen that was that was real though I appreciate that another question we have um Howard comes from Paul over here he says uh most realistic trade for Center who goes out who comes in are there any of the Randall rumored trades from ESPN good fits for the Knicks I think the ones he was referencing are some Bobby Marx had him potentially going to Dallas in a move there are some potential trades that have him going to the Hornets I believe I read one today that had um I believe him going to the the I for who the I don't remember there's so many different trades for R I don't remember the exact ones but there are a lot of potential trades right now going on about Randall I think again the reason that happening is because he's not extended so when you're not extended it leads to the other conversation go ahead but those right and and to be clear like those are if I'm recalling correctly those are all like just doing the exercise so these are not like we need to make a distinction this this this stuff gets blurred a lot again you asked at the outset of of the show about you know the changing media environment there's so much blurring now intentionally and unintentionally of trade rumor versus trade speculation versus hey let's just do a pod where we make up a bunch of fake trades and then somehow one of them becomes o trade rumor like no it's not like I think Bobby and Zack low on Zach's podcast recently were going through possible Randall destinations and they were having a hard time coming up with anything that really worked so I think the answer is that basically like I don't remember what the the uh you know pieces were that that uh Bobby might have proposed but I don't think there's any active proposals in reality this is all just us on the outside speculating so I don't I don't think it's even worth going down that road right now I absolutely agree with you again and I think uh I think um I don't know I think people just get caught up with that a lot of the times and I don't I think it's just because it's part of the the offseason conversation sometimes and I think I think with with Julius Randall as well too if you just read everything that that actually is about Randall and New York and everything you can kind of see those reports and kind of as I do kind of negate them because you know they don't really mean anything you know what it's for I know it's the offseason so I know what everything's about at this point last question for you before you have to leave is the last one I promise you and guys again I can't I can't answer all your questions I can't keep them in for an hour okay it's not my fault but last one is do you realistically see us trading for an impactful center before the season starts H before the season starts I think is unlikely me too yeah I agree in part because uh if if something could have happened it probably would have by now on that front Ag and you know what happens after the you and this year this was a really interesting offseason in that the vast majority of teams work on Personnel front trades and free agents ings got done super fast and by the time we even like I don't think I'd even gotten on the plane to Summer League yet and it's felt like everything was already done right um so we've had a lot of offseason for teams to look at what they've got look at what they might be missing yeah and and scour the market if something hasn't happened by now it's probably not happening on the trade front um and then by when December 15th hits and all the uh players who were signed in the offseason become trade eligible it loosens up the market so even if you're not targeting somebody who signed a deal and isn't eligible yet it's just the market itself gets looser because there's just more players than play more teams feel like they can uh construct a deal and if you needed to involve a third team that kind of stuff so I don't think anything's happening before opening night I mean I I could be wrong uh I've been wrong before and stuff like this but like I it doesn't seem likely if they're making a move at all it's sometime between December 15th and the trade deadline I absolutely agree with that as well to you got to think about the assets they have available to they can't even trade a cha till the 15th anyways and he'd likely be one of the things that they'd want to trade um in one of those moves I can't see them really moving anything to your point could it happen I mean sure Anything could happen but I I don't see any of those moves happening until they're able to see the roster see it play out and then after that identify potentially a need as we talked about earlier again guys I can't keep him forever this was the amazing the great legendary as I call him 27 years guys riding covering for the NBA we're talking about every single team you can think of again he is the great Howard Beck you can see his ATS on screen again every Monday on the NBA show for the ringer real ones you can join him there you can see him as well too on the ringer.com he writes so many different articles latest one on July 9th the NBA's free agency apocalypse is not here great information there about the Knicks and all of your favorite teams again he doesn't only give you information about the Knicks not only that it's everything else and that's why he is worth the follow please give him a follow and again thank you so much Howard for being here it's amazing talking to you today my my pleasure Troy thanks for all the kind words really appreciate it thanks good to see you of course same to you man thank you so much and guys again uh don't go anywhere we're going to be uh going back to the show again uh very very soon here I just got to get the stream back together uh because you know how when people leave the stream the video kind of goes off so you got to give me a second here to kind of put it all together but we're going to go through a couple other topics here so don't go anywhere let me just get that going okay all right going to a couple more topics here one second guys all right there we go that good yeah looks like we're good all right perfect sorry I took a little bit of time but we are back and I appreciate that and I want to give another big wonderful shout out to my very special guest for today Howard Beck of the ringer one of the great guests that I've had on my show again 20 7 years of NBA experience NBA knowledge writing about the NBA as good as he does like I said before there are so many different guests that I could have on the show and I promise you and I've said it to you guys already there are going to be more special guests that I have but Howard Beck was one of the main people I wanted to get because I followed him since I was a kid more or less watching the Knicks reading about the Knicks like some of you guys reading every day about what's happening with this team he helped me get through a lot of those dark days so I have him on this show was incredible he gave us so much information about Randall potential trade targets that the Knicks could look at he gave us information about James Dolan and potentially his involvement with the Knicks now and in the future what a great interview I promise you I'll be clipping that and putting it on the the main Channel very very soon so don't go anywhere for that and we're going to get to the main chat as well too to hear all your questions and concerns we also even have a few additional topics to talk about today also talking about trade targets also talking about Julius Randall and things like that so we're going to get to those particular points as well too but I wanted to make sure we got through the full Howard Beck interview before we're able to get to those topics so for everybody in the chat gang right now Nicks Nation watching I appreciate you guys but our next topic is going to be about Julius Randall and his role now everybody I think most of the people commenting or watching on this video even people in the live stream now they have asked me directly how does Julius Randle feel about his role what is Julius Randall's story about his role is Randall okay with his role is he happy with his role is he upset that he might have to play second fiddle behind jayen Brunson what about some nights when he may have to play Third fiddle or maybe he's not even an option some nights because everybody else has it going everybody else is cooking how will Randall feel at that point in time well thankfully Ian Bagley of SNY recently dropped his mailbag and he gave us some great insight about Randall and how he feels about the current roster he also gave us insight about Randall and how he's feeling about all the things he's seeing on social media it was a great report and we have to break it down for you guys today shout out to Ian Bagley for giving us the following information according to Bagley one other thought the 29-year-old will accept any role that is asked of him on this Knicks team if it leads to winning did everybody hear that did everybody in the back hear that did everybody who was criticizing Randall saying he can't accept the second option he can't be the number two option there's no way way he can be a number three option did you hear what Ian Bagley said now I'm not saying Bagley spoke to Rand directly maybe he did maybe he spoke directly to Randall's sources or people around Randall you know what I don't mind because now we have the information and what does it say let's repeat that again any role that is asked of Julius Randall on this Knicks team if it leads to winning he is willing to accept as SNY noted earlier in the off season Randall has been excited about the Knicks team and believes they can make a run he's looking forward to being back healthy with this group and thinks that things can be special with Bridges he wants to win in New York the frustration he recently expressed on social media was genuine but it was a reaction to the false idea that the team was not selling his jersey at Madison Square Garden I want to put that out to you guys one more time again was he upset he absolutely was but he was upset because they were falsifying things saying his jersey was not an MSG and we already proved that wrong in our Patrick Beverly video that we put out yesterday where we cleared it up and said there were jerseys for Randall in MSG the person who were speaking about that didn't know what they were talking about and that's how that story got out I want to go to a Super Chat really quickly for my guy da a because you know how we always do he's given us these great super chats and we always have to get to them so give me a second to kind of prioritize that really quickly because I gotta shout him out he's always giving support to the show uh one second here guys there we go shout out to my guy double A for giving us that $499 super chat if you want to be featured on the Super Chat as well too or you want to have your comment featured all you have to do is click that little button with a heart in it has a little money Icon Sign in it you hit that you donate to the show and your comic can be read like this double A my guy he says is it smart playing a returning Randall or injury-prone OG at the five that's a great question uh first of all dou I appreciate that in my opinion it's not a great move to play either of them at the five starting out the season because if you do that what you basically do is that potentially you can create an issue that's not really an issue and I don't want to have Julius Randall potentially get injured or OG and and Obi potentially get injured because they're playing out of position let's not do that right away unless we absolutely need to do it let's go ahead and try to avoid doing that until these guys have a couple of games underneath their belt they have that experience back they make sure they can take contact without having to go to the bench or having to experience any pain or any injury or discomfort like that that's what we have to look at and talk about right now so I appreciate the comment daa and thank you so much for the support but I want to go back to that Julius Randle situation and again his role that's been talked about basically since the beginning of the off season after the Knicks traded for Mel Bridges what was randle's Role going to be and was he going to be okay with it and so many people criticized him so many people thought he was not going to be okay with the role but now according to Ian Bagley we basically are hearing from Julius Randall or at least sources close to him where we're saying here that Randall is excited to play with this Knicks team he's excited he wants to play with this Nick team he's enjoying it he wants to win a title in New York but the biggest thing of all the main thing to take away from this entire thing that Randall stated here was that he will accept any role on any given night if it means winning a title you know what that tells me he's willing to make the ultimate sacrifice who else is willing to do that Jaylen Brunson who else is willing to do that Mel Bridges who else is willing to do that ogn anobi who else is willing to do that Mitchell Robinson who else is willing to do that this entire Nicks team our entire roster is willing to sacrifice if it means winning a championship since when did that roster not include Julius Randall please stop including this man in all of these trade propos excuse me please stop including this man in all of these trade insane proposals stop talking about his fit like you don't understand where he belongs in New York we all understand it it's clear Julius Randall is meant to play basketball in New York if Jaylen Brunson was born to play basketball then Julius Randall was meant to play basketball in New York City in the Mecca in MSG he deserves his respect and as the reports already indicate he wants to win here what else does he have to say what else does he have to do what other reports have to come out for everybody to understand that all he wants to do is bring a championship to the Knicks to break the drought Ian Bagley said it in his mailbag who started all of this who got us here who was one of the major first free agents that's still part of this group right now to still be part of us Julius Randall and time and time again never fails never gets that respect that he deserves because time and time again ESPN Bleacher Report put him in these trades put him in these nonsensical deals that the Knicks will never do but they do it because they know right now you can't talk about anything else for the Knicks can you can you make fun of the Knicks and anywhere else can you say we're not a championship Contender no can you say Jaylen Brunson is not a superstar no can you say our players don't sacrifice no so what else are you going to do you're going to go to the lowest hanging fruit the one that you know you can go to because the contract extension still not signed oh well Randall may not know his role Randall's fit is in question well next season he might be upset playing the number two role there's nothing saying that randle's going to be happy playing that role is there well news flash now there is thanks to Ian Bagley as he's noted Randall will accept any role he is happy to play with this Nicks team happy to play with this current roster and wants to win a title break the drought and do everything it means to win in New York if that's not saying how he feels about this city the sacrifices he's willing to make to win a championship the leadership it takes to do that to say that when this used to be your team and it's not your team anymore and you're going into the season knowing that and you appreciate that you're happy with that because you know now you have help to do everything they say you couldn't do Randall can't play in the postseason Randall can't win well Randall has never been surrounded by this level of talent before until now watch wait and learn Randall is going off this year and this exact statement is why he doesn't care if he's number one he doesn't care if he's number two he doesn't care if he's number three he doesn't care about his role he just wants to win and whenever a player that's the player level of Randall gets in that excuse me gets into that mindset gets into that type of level of mentality there is no stopping you there is never an off switch for you that's the Randall that we got right now another thing to talk about there that b Bagley was stating he stated in his opinion the topic about Randle him being extended with the Knicks being traded or anything like that it doesn't matter about my opinion your opinion or anybody's opinion it's irrelevant because the only opinion that matters here is Leon Rose if Leon believes that the Knicks can win a title with Julius Randall then Randall will be here for the foreseeable future and he also noted this we noted in July that a contract extension was not at the Forefront for either Randall or the Knicks That Remains the case today less than three weeks from the start of training camp regarding the extension I'm not sure what would change between now and the start of the season to get a deal done so it seems as if both sides are prepared to go into the year without an extension so if everybody wondering is Rand going to sign an extension probably he might sign an extension and I think it's going to be at some point in time with the Knicks but guess what it's not going to happen now and according to Ian Bagley and it looks like he just checked looks like he just checked on this so it's a recent report it's still not at the Forefront of Randall or the Nick mindes they're not thinking about it so the only thing they're thinking about right now is being healthy fully healthy with a fully healthy roster going into the season winning a title and breaking the drought and if that happens everything else will work itself out especially Randall knows this more than anybody else and if Randall bets on himself and he does this without going into the year signed to any deal not only do I predict a monster Year from Randall but that is how you increase your value by doubling it or tripling it depending on how you perform in the playoffs and the regular season and how you show you can overcome these injuries Randall has the perfect opportunity to do that right now the perfect roster to do it with and according to Bagley here things are still the same where is Julius Rand La the uh contract front the same does Randall want a contract Ascension maybe but as of right now it's the same it's not at the Forefront of his mind he's not thinking about it Nicks are not thinking about it nobody's thinking about it who's thinking about it everybody else not Randall not the Knicks not anybody else on that roster it's all of us it's me it's you it's ESPN it's Bleacher Report it's all of these Outlets talking about Randall talking about his extension we don't need to talk about it anymore Julius Randall is going to remain a Nick number one he's not going to be extended number two for right now number three he's going to get that contract extension with the Knicks likely next next off seon but that's what we're looking at here right now and that's perfectly fine and guess what this hasn't changed anything our reporting from a couple of weeks ago said this exact same thing said this is exactly where the Nicks and Randall are and lo and behold a few weeks later nothing has changed the Nicks and Julius Randall by all intents and purposes are at the exact same spot with regards to this contract extension nothing has changed nothing will change it'll go into the season with without signing anything and then come this next off season that's when we can talk about Randall signing that extension or signing a new contract with the Knicks because that's when it's going to be relevant right now it's not relevant I appreciate you guys though and everybody in the chat I see you guys are going off I want to get to you guys and see what you guys comments are and what you guys have to say so let's do that really quick before we go to the next topic that we have today because we do have another topic for anybody who's waiting and wanting to know what that topic is it's about the Knicks and the potential Center options that they have so we're going to be discussing that and everything that has to do with that so definitely stay tuned you're not going to want to miss that but let's go to the chat real quick and see what they have to say so shout out to the chat gang going here let's see uh moth man says James you're a Nets fan explains it same person that probably said Brunson suck LOL net fans don't know anything about winning you guys had four Hall of Fame players and did It win a thing okay James I can't have you causing problems during the live stream again all right you know we're going to have to all right all right James all right James all right James it's over James ah it's over James I can't even give you a chance to not do anything before I have to give you a timeout you know that's crazy I don't know what to do with you anymore James I mean I really don't know what to do with you I I I give you a chance I give you a chance every stream to try to do good and you you take my kindness and you just throw it on the floor and now look what happens now you made me give you a timeout it's not my fault and like like I can do that uh even best says love the show uh B bow if you're talking about getting the Knicks the Nicks getting B bow I don't think they're going to get bbo if anything I think he's signed to a contract right now so I don't know if they're even able to to get him I don't think he's a free agent or anything um Moth Man said see you James listen man I don't like to to do that I don't like to give timeouts to anybody but you can't come into a Nick stream talking Jaylen Brunson hate you're talk Jaylen Brunson hate to me he's on the cover of the show do you see him there he's on screen I can't let you B badmouth them in James man I give this guy so many chance never mind that's whatever anyways uh double A he says a pretty simple solution to playing time en rolls issues instead of playing Randall and OG out of position simple Knicks have a boatload of guards including newly signed pain trade one and a package here's a thing though double A I don't think the Knicks can make the trade you want them to make they don't have access to all the exact assets they would have until December 15th you got to remember they still want to sign uh they still sign press zoua so they're still looking to trade him they don't want to keep him on the team especially if they're looking to get another impactful player with size pressu would not have that much value on this team if anything his value would be lowered so you don't want him on this team at that point in time I would make a trade and try to get a Chua out of here first for a big and I think the only way you can do that is wait till the deadline now I'm not saying the Knicks don't make a move they still have the open roster spot they can still convert anybody who's on a two-way contract or anybody who has a training camp deal to a standard NBA contract so somebody else could with sides could make the roster that's something else they could do so again they have options but it's going to be interesting to see what they actually go into uh let's keep it going here and see what other uh options excuse me com we have here uh finesse full J says b bowl is happily on the Suns yeah he is I believe I knew he was on a team I thought it was the Suns but I didn't really remember exactly because I don't pay attention to the Suns because they're not the Knicks um even best says I know but bbo would do well here I think b w will do well only because we think size and and time played you got to remember he still does a lot of things that are pretty bad I mean his hands are not really great his hands are not the greatest right I mean he could shoot kind of he can do things kind of well his body for me is still the Bane concern he's not that strong is he so I mean I think he could fit a lot of teams but I think it wouldn't be an easy fit we'd kind of have to force it a little bit good comment though good comment um Frank White says I saw an article about the Knicks going after Robert Williams Yeah we actually did a video about Robert Williams and nicks potentially going after him Brian wior at some point in time had mentioned that the Knicks potentially are a team monitoring Robert Williams and may go after him at the trade deadline now you know the Knicks I I believe that they are but I don't know if the Knicks are going to Target somebody like that given his injury history I believe they have other Targets on their list that they would look at before they went the Williams direction for instance I think they would rather go after players like Kesler players like Jaylen Duran because again those guys are younger they have a lot of upside they can still develop they don't have the same type of injury concerns so that's kind of where I think the Knicks would kind of fall in that to say again that they wouldn't go after Williams I think any player is getable I just think cost is going to be the biggest thing of that and I don't know exactly what the Blazers are going to want to get back for him because they know he's an impactful piece but they also know that his injury history drops his value and the Blazers already have you know Donovan kingan they have a guy already that they need to develop so I don't really see him getting a lot of minutes there either it's going to be very interesting to see what the Blazers do I do see a trade happening well if the Knicks are going to be the one to pick up that deal it's anybody's guess but good comment though uh let's see uh double A says we need what Julius Randle brings a guy you can drop drop the ball down to the to in the paint and cause issues for the other team and now he will find himself in single coverage he deserves to stay Hey listen man doua I agree with you I think that Randall absolutely deserves to stay I've been preaching that for the roof basically for the entire time during the offseason people have been battling me telling me that Randall doesn't have a role Randall can't fit anymore Randall can't do this when I've been telling them fact that Randall has the best roster around him now that he's ever had before this roster and their Dynamic complements Randall better than any roster in the league could and the fact that he has time put in with this team and he's built chemistry with them so he can find them on the low block and he can make sure he finds him in the corner for the passes I mean that's what you want from Randall his skill set is maximized now so again I don't I don't know what people are are really trying to say about Randall and trying to trade him or he's not a good fit he shouldn't be here I feel like those people really don't watch the Knicks in what we've been doing I feel people are thinking Randall the same type of player he was when we were playing the Hawks in the postseason that time and he wasn't that same player when we were playing Miami that time he's not that same player today he's not going to be that same player when we go in the postseason this year he's different we have to give him his credit he's changed and I think a lot of people don't understand that about Randall he is in embracing the fact that he can play on a stacked roster and be number two be number three the only people who think he has an ego is everybody else the Knicks clearly don't think he has an ego and Randall basically said himself he doesn't he's excited he's excited to play with his roster now some people will say well he has to say that does he does he have to say excited does he have to say anything could he say I'm just ready to play he could have said that right why did he go the extra mile and say excited why did he say I want to win in New York didn't have to say those things he said those things because he means it it matters to him and if he wants to win in New York now then what does that say about before he wanted to win then so that means even during the toughest of times he wanted to stay and I don't know about you guys but I like to reward the people that have always stayed and continue to look to stay on this team and Randall every single time has looked to do that never once have I heard about Randall requesting or even attempting to look for a trade that's not in his blood I like players like that last comment and then we are going to the last topic I think we have for today and then we're going to go to the chat uh let's see here uh Tony says we need to let the Knicks cook until February and then we can see what we really need thank you so much for the chat chat gang you guys have been amazing today I love all of the communication that I had from you guys we're going to go to you guys a little bit later on in the show after we get through this last topic but I wanted to you know just go with Tony's comment there I do think that the Knicks right now are having a wait and see approach kind of like what me and Howard Beck were talking about right we're talking about the Knicks kind of moving into the season with this roster and maybe only adding somebody from training camp who impresses for the final roster spot and holding on to that mle and then maybe in February or March if you identify a need maybe that's a backup big maybe that's a wing maybe that's a small forward who whatever it is maybe it's some type of player that we don't know yet and the Knicks don't know yet and because they can't identify that yet maybe that's why they want to hold on to the mle because for them it's important to because if you hold on to the mle potentially you can utilize it for a buyout player when they're on the buyout Market we don't know who those players are yet potentially there could be some players that look like they're trade eligible now that could be bought out because they're not able to be traded so again the Knicks have options but shout out to Tony because I do think that's exactly what the Knicks are going to do they're going to buy their time because why else wouldn't they it makes the most sense to do that so I appreciate that uh the next topic I want to go into today is really about Julius Randall uh EXC me not Julius Randall the next topic I want to go into today is about the Knicks and what they're going to be doing at the deadline potential centers they could be targeting that's one thing but also Jericho Sims and how the team feels about him because listen guys there have been a lot of things going on with the Knicks right now people have been talking about the Knicks potentially having depth because if Robinson goes down you still have Jericho Sims there you still have prua there but my push back to that have always been that if the Knicks felt comfortable and confident with Jericho and atua at the depth that they had at the Five Spot then why all offseason long were they looking for a backup big why are they still rumored to be looking to trade for a big either a backup big or a starting big come the trade deadline that's because they are legitim looking for targets and trying to get somebody else on this team they are not confident or comfortable with who they have on the roster right now and you don't have to believe me Ian Bagley recently spoke about this on his mailbag and he talked about Jericho Sims and how the team feels about him and he said the following about him as far as Sims goes I don't have much insight into how the front office and Tom tiido views Jericho Sims but as noted above the Knicks have been gauging their options at Center so that could give you a little insight into where they are on Sims unless I'm reading too much into it the Nick's action suggest that they're not fully confident with Sims as a second or even third Center at this point in time maybe Sims changes their mind with a strong training camps last preseason but other than that he's not looked at right now as somebody that confidently the Knicks feel like can take up that backup center responsibility so everybody that been telling me about Jericho Sims we have to believe in him he's going to have a spot he's going to have a role maybe that's true but the only way that happens is if during training camp he goes off and shows the Knicks what he can really do then and only then will he carve out some playing time for himself other than that there is no way no chance on this planet that Jericho Sims is going to see any time on this Knicks team as a backup center especially when we're fully healthy if we're not fully healthy and we only have prua and Jericho Sims maybe at that point in time you'll see some Jericho Sims minutes but this Knicks team fully healthy is not going to Jericho Sims first now you know prua is right now the backup to Mitchell Robinson according to Bagley the Knicks do not feel confident don't even see Jericho Sims as a second or even third option as a backup center with the current death that we have right now that's scary and it tells me the riding's on the wall with Jericho Sims his time in New York is not for long he's going to stay here now because obviously we have a need for him and if anything goes wrong it's better to have somebody there than nobody there that's why you keep them on the roster but eventually if a trade requires it or something requires it Jericho Sims is out of here because clearly the Knicks do not have any confidence in him to even play a backup center position and if that's the case there is no chance he'll ever be a starting caliber Center for this team somebody that can really realistically carve out significant minutes on this team and this is just based on the reporting that we've been covering for the last few weeks and even today so anybody telling me about Jericho Sims he's gonna get a lot of minutes we're sleeping on him I'm somehow disrespecting him when I'm talking about the fact that he's recovering from all these injuries he hasn't shown anything to us for the three years he's been with us and even when he has been on the court sometimes his IQ there has been subpar I say these things cuz they're true I say these things for reasons why he doesn't get that playing time and now we understand that the Knicks potentially view him the same way again it's not hate it's observing something and making a statement you don't think I want Jericho Sims to do well you don't think I want Jericho Sims to thrive I do but I want him to be able to thrive I want him to be able to do well the way the Nicks need him to not any other way and simply he just hasn't done that and that's why the Knicks are looking at other centers potential names to look at at the deadline we already know they have been connected to Walker Kesler Brian windhorse of ESPN has linked the Knicks to Robert Williams III we had some Executives a couple of weeks ago connect Jonas valent chunis to the Knicks so there's been a number of centers connected to the Knicks at the trade deadline but according to Ian Bagley he gives us a following up about the Knicks and potentially what their plans are for that backup center position if they're going to make a trade or not let's see what Bley has to say about it excuse me that's the wrong slide there part apologies about that there we go there uh according to Ian Bagley he says the following I'm a little surprised that the Knicks haven't signed a veteran backup center at this point they have opened the championship window with bridges in that trade it would surprise me if they waited until the trade deadline to address the center position Mitchell Robinson is coming off of an ankle surgery if he's ready for training camp he'll still need some time to regain his conditioning and timing it's a not a prudent to F excuse me and it's prudent to factor in Robinson's injury history press aoua is very capable as a backup center power forward Jericho Sims has shown promise but is unproven in that role given that it would surprise me if the Knicks were confident about the current state of the center position as noted last week there were some there was some internal interest in signing Bruno Fernando and omir yvin earlier in the off season but both players have signed elsewhere you have to think the Knicks or at least considering veteran Bigs like javel McGee and bismack bomo maybe they sign a veteran before the start of training camp I'd keep an eye on Nick Richards in Charlotte as a possible trade candidate as well too same goes for Walker Kessler in Utah like Brian windhorse noted Robert Williams is a name to monitor maybe yonas valent chunis as far as backup centers and the trade deadline go I know the Knicks talk to Atlanta this offseason about a deal involving Clint capella so maybe capella is another name to watch for the Knicks come this trade deadline that was a lot of names to review he threw out capella he threw out Nick Richards he threw out Robert Williams he threw out javel McGee bism bio I mean there were a ton so let's break this down really quickly so that way we can give a little bit more insight to each and every single one of these names starting with the one that nearly dropped my jaw to the floor and that was for javel McGee somebody that I often times used to phrase and say McGee in it every time he made a m mistake and by the way I said it so much during one game I lost my voice just saying but let's go ahead and say there javel McGee according to Ian Bagley is somebody that you'd have to think that Nicks are at least considering in terms of Veteran bigs now he's mentioned here javel McGee and bismack bomo now I've mentioned bismack bomo for a number of weeks now before we get to him though javel McGee no way no way I hope that the Knicks are not considering javelle McGee you can call him a champion you can call him somebody that is absolutely somebody you can count on when he's on the bench somebody that has veteran experience a veteran presence all of that don't need it don't want it don't require it javel McGee is not rostered for a reason let's keep it that way or if we're not going to keep it that way let's let excuse me let's not be the Knicks as the team that brings him back to the NBA let's not do that let another team do that but please let it not be Delle McGee going to bismack bomo now I've mentioned this for weeks now going back maybe since July definitely since the beginning of August the Knicks have access to the mle it's about $5 million this Mac bambo for a one year might cost you 5 million maybe even less than that because maybe his value is even more down so whatever you get him at a discount either way you can utilize the mle get him on this team he fits Tom thibo style he's a veteran Center defensive-minded yes I know he's about 68 69 same size as PR tuua but get this he is a center he plays center that's his natural position PR chua's natural position is not center it's more power forward so if you get somebody like that on your roster it allows your team to play players at their natural position so that way you don't have to risk injury for me that's the best type of option to go with right now and it doesn't cost you anything doesn't break the bank and if you play him enough he can be used as a trade piece come the trade deadline auua bismack something else maybe some of these protected picks for one of these free agents that we just talk mean not free agents for one of these uh players that we just talked Al about that might be available at the trade deadline a player that I'm thinking about is Jones valent chunis because if you include a Chua bismack and maybe that protected Washington pick does Jonas valent chunes come to the Knicks because I think that could work and according to Ian Bagley here he listed jonis valent junis potentially as a name for the Knicks to watch and again he also named Walker Kessler we've done a number of videos on Walker Kessler why the Knicks ideally want to have him on the team why it can't happen thank you Danny a and why likely unless Danny a lowers that price C it to the Knicks will never happen Nick Richards has always been an interesting choice here guys because the thing with Nick Richard is I think that's a feasible choice but the Hornets roster they're very limited in the centers that they have if they lose one Center it could mean disaster for their entire season now maybe they're going to have disaster either way and if that happens maybe come the trade deadline if they know that they'll bite the bullet and they'll trade a Nick Richards to another contending team hopefully that team is being the Knicks because I do think he has a role on this team playing a backup minutes on a Nick Squad that's contending for a chip I think that's a perfect role for him he'll give us great minutes he'll allow our other players to rest that's the key there and if you have a healthy Mitchell Robinson making sure he rests making sure he's not playing more than 25 minutes a night that's important you get a player that's Young like Nick Richards somebody who doesn't have a long injury history somebody who can stay in the game for long periods of time yeah I want somebody like that and of all the choices that we read out so far in terms of a trade I like yonas but I also like uh Nick Richards I think it makes sense only if the cost makes sense and if Charlotte really wants to deal them but that's the whole thing that's really what's stopping me from thinking that this is realistic I don't think Charlotte would ever realistically trade him because it would hurt them more than it would help them unless they're already hurting that's the only situation where I think that they would do it anyways but again very good from uh Ian Bagley here and uh he does mention Robert Williams a number of videos you mentioned about Williams the fit the injury concerns definitely watch those videos if you haven't done so already but the last uh name he mentions here that I want to talk about Clint capella Clint capella is a very interesting name because potentially you can say that Nicks could Target him for a trade right is there also a potential that he could be bought bought out and potentially be on the buyout Market come February and March cuz I also think that's a possibility now I don't know he who he would sign with at that point in time what the contract would look like at that point in time but you got to figure people on the buyout Market want to sign with teams that are contenders and if it means taking a little bit less so you can join a contender and potentially win a championship you might do that I don't know where capella heads is I don't know where his head is I don't know where his mind is I don't know where the contract situation is I don't know what's going to happen with him and the Hawks all I know is last time I checked they didn't look like they were going to renew on any contract it looked like he was going to walk into free agency at some point in time and it does look like the Hawks want to get something back for him something more than anything but if they can't get exactly what they want back and maybe nothing makes sense maybe they buy him out and if that happens I see the Knicks going after him as a buyout candidate buying him excuse me signing him to a Rost spot getting him on this team and there you go right there that's your backup center and potentially your starting center if anything happens or anybody goes down I can see that happening but if the Hawks want to make a trade happen with the Knicks come to deadline and they lower their cost it makes sense for the Knicks it's not hurting anybody we keep our core pieces maybe the Knicks go ahead and do that type of deal although I don't really see why they would but maybe they do that if it makes sense and they're getting something else in the package as well too they do that deal they get capella on this team but again it still solves something for them right they now have a backup center that can play starter minutes in the event that Mitchell Robinson goes down that's why capella is a very compelling name on this list maybe more than anybody else because definitely the contract is something you don't want to accept you don't want to absorb that's why looking at him as a buyout candidate makes even more sense I don't really see the Knicks trading for him they didn't want to trade for him before I don't think they're really going to want to trade for him now maybe cost has something to do with it but I think the interest for capella might come if he joins the buyout market and I think the Knicks would swarm to get them that's something to consider if the Hawks lower the price on a trade maybe they consider that as well too them being the Knicks but a lot of factors here regarding who the targets are for the Knicks at the deadline to break it down for you guys again javel McGee bismack bomo two guys you can look at in terms of free agents Nick Richards Walker Robert Williams Jonas valent Tunis four names you can look at in terms of potential trade options another trade option and maybe buyout option maybe the only option like that on this list is Clint capella and for me Walker kler is ideal not going to happen Clint capella if he's bought out definitely happening um yonas valent chunis final straw they can't get anything else done no other type of deals and the the valent Tunis deal is still available on the table the Lakers didn't go after him I think the Knicks have enough to get that deal done and get valent chunis on this team valent chunis might be the most realistic honestly apart from everybody else on this team but the buyout Market can change that especially if Capella's name reaches there but at least excuse me but at least these are the Articles and the reports that we have today I hope you guys enjoyed today's episode with our special guest Howard Beck who gave us so much great insight especially the James Dolan situation did you guys hear that that potentially James Dolan might be involved in things that we might not know he might be involved in things that might not be talked about right now might not be considered right now and I didn't even think about that so that's something that was a great report from Howard Beck you got to make sure you watch the the first part of this interview I'm going to make sure I clip it for you guys so that way you get the full grasp of the interview when it drops live on YouTube we're going to make sure that drops I think at some point during the week but don't worry I'm going to have specialized Clips as I always do go out probably during this weekend more than anytime else because I want to start moving forward during the week with any reports that come out that are a little bit more urgent that come out that day I want to be a little bit more responsive when it comes out to that so you might see that a little bit more often but those clips you can find them most likely on the weekend and I'm definitely going to have that Howard Beck One queued up so definitely take a look at that we talked about about Randall his contract extension but most importantly his role and the fact that Randall he's happy to play any role that matters on the Knicks as long it means excuse me as long as it means that he can win a championship you gotta love hearing that about Randall we covered the Nicks trade uh targets and things like that we basically covered everything if you have a question though you have any questions about uh you know the Knicks potentially what they're going to do during the trade deadline poent eventually different targets are going to go after how the lineups are going to look like anything like that ask your question now because this is the portion of the show where we talk to the live audience everybody in the chat so let's go ahead and do that we have about 20 or so minutes so I want to go for around 20 more minutes and then when we're done with that we'll call it quits for today's live stream if you guys want to see more special guests join the live stream make sure you leave a comment below who else do you want to see who else you think I have connections to maybe you want to see another journalist here maybe somebody that I uh reviewed today let me know in the comments guys I'll try my best to get different guests on this show but like I said definitely stay tuned because if you thought Howard Beck was good I promise you we have so many great other guests to get to so definitely keep your eyes out on that uh let's keep it going here I want to see what everybody has to say here in the chat uh Tony Riviera says uh Duran I think he's saying Jaylen Duran is the only thing I say is an 80% chance think that's what you mean Tony uh Paul says I don't want Williams injury-prone Richards doesn't move the needle or Clint unless buyou McGee to Old I love uh bismack would give him would give him the mle want yonas or Kesler absolutely Paul I think Kesler like I said Kesler is the ideal Target for the Knicks and I think the Knicks would definitely go after him they tried to it's a a does not want to drop this price that's the problem and until a gets out of his feelings with this walk Walker kessle situation we're never going to be able to make the deal that we want to make that we really should have made and that really has to do more with the fact that Danny a does not really want to do business the right way he wants to fleece everybody so Walker Kessler again ideal Nick Richards I think could work especially as a as off of Off the Bench I think he have a has a good impact so I wouldn't mind riches Off the Bench Jonas valent Tunis makes the most sense realistic Al in terms of the trade package so yeah definitely understand you there I appreciate the comment Paul Tony says let's try to get Spike Lee if I can get Spike Lee Tony that would be incredible I would probably fan out more than it would be an interview it probably wouldn't even be an interview it' probably be me like this the entire thing thank you so much I'm a a huge fan love all your movies thank you so much for making sure the Knicks have always been relevant in terms of fandom I'd go off it'd be like that I'm a a huge fan of Spike love him love him hope and pray guys hopefully you guys can put that positive energy out there and who knows maybe uh somebody he likes is watching and they send him the clip and you never know anything can happen right uh but I am looking for some very key special guest you guys are going to see who very soon can't wait to show you that and again um the way that we do this all the time is if you have a question we always prioritize the member questions and then we go to everybody else so definitely if you're not a member of the channel already you have time do so we have a giveaway coming up as well too very soon I'm thinking about doing a jersey giveaway so maybe we do a jersey giveaway very soon again as you know giveaways are only for the members of the channel so all the members like my guy Tony who's in the chat DB block sometimes in the chat those guys they're already qualified for these giveaways they don't have to do anything all they have to do is continue doing what they're doing watch the show and then soon when we announce who the giveaway gets to they'll see who gets that uh that great Jersey I'm not sure what Jersey it's going to be yet I might run a poll for that and see what Jersey you guys might want me to to kind of purchase for the giveaway so we'll kind of do that but if you guys want to join uh the channel right now as a member so you can get those great giveaway chances the only way to do that is hit the join button right now you'll see it on screen hit join become a member today and that's way you get your chance to win all of these great prizes and for anybody who doesn't know in January we are going to be uh giving away some New York Knicks tickets at MSG that's right you're going to be able to go to MSG I don't know how many times we're going to do that definitely going to do two tickets at the very very least so uh we're going to do at least one giveaway in January where it involves two Nick tickets to one of these games going on because the Nicks play their most home games in January so it's definitely something to note I don't know which one yet we're going to have to choose that out but it'll be two tickets and it'll be directly for you and somebody that you want to take obviously you have to be in the New York area but only members are going to be included in that so Ely want to make sure you're a member now uh let's keep it going here uh Tony Riviera says Troy I can donate my Brunson bobblehead for a giveaway I appreciate that man but I don't want to take anything from the members I don't want to take anything from the members of the fans getting their stuff I rather give away things uh that we can give away here I can definitely do a bobblehead though I might do a bobblehead as in terms of like a giveaway prize so maybe that's something that we give away at some point and um and things like that and maybe you win it but I wouldn't want to take your stuff man I appreciate that though that's really nice of you Tony um let's see here family says hey Troy what's the news on Randall uh my bad I just got here shout out to Troy he the best hey man I appreciate you y ym excuse me ymn I appreciate you family I'm just going to call you family from now on but I appreciate that uh the latest on Julius Randall in terms of the contract extension um again everything looks like he's not going to sign one according to Ian Bagley Howard Beck everything's on Pace for now that he's not going to sign that extension it's too close in terms of training Camp right now the season being started it doesn't make sense so likely not going to sign the extension but here's the thing if you didn't catch the uh the stream here's the biggest part of what we learned today one other thought according to Ian Bagley here is that Julius Randall will accept any role that's asked of him on this Knicks team if it leads to winning that's the major report or at least one of the major reports we had out today that Randall doesn't care about his role all he cares about is winning and as long as the Knicks are winning and he's part of that he doesn't care if he's number one option number two option three option fourth option an option doesn't matter to him he just wants to win he understands sacrifice he understands that that's what the Knicks need to do ought to do have to do what else can you say about somebody like this one of the best Nicks that we have on this roster and why do I say that because while everybody else is talking about the contract the money the fit and everything else like that he's happy he's excited he wants to join this Knicks team so bad he wants to Showcase what he can do he wants to help bring a title to New York I don't really know what else to say what else do you say to that Julius Randall is a monster and every single time you count him out he just gives you another reason why you shouldn't he's that good ladies and gentlemen he is that good of a player he cares about this Knicks team that much and he gives us everything even when you think he shouldn't look at what we have here it's amazing to see isn't it just in my opinion though but appreciate you guys let's see a couple more comments here uh Jimmy says Troy always great content you're uh you are the number one fan let's go Nicks hey I appreciate that thank you so much Jimmy I try to be man I try to always keep it fair I try to talk about everything I talk about you know Randall in the trades even though I don't want to talk about Randall in the trades mind you by the way I hate talking about Randall being traded more than anybody else but the reason I talk about it is because I need to address it as a content creator you need to address these things especially during the off season there's not much else to talk about so when the crazy things come out you talk about them even more because they're more in your face it's not like during the regular season when I can turn it off and I can talk about how the Knicks are going to utilize this player or what the Knicks are planning to do or other players that they're targeting or changing the lineup or injuries or things like that or other that they're going to go against or the fact that team the Knicks are one of the hottest teams in the league I can't talk about any of those things right now because they don't exist right now maybe they will at some point in time but not right now so I have to address all of the other noise drop a comment below if you guys want me to talk about Isaiah Stewart and potentially the Knicks going after him I don't know if you guys noticed but there was a report that came out with the uh Julius Randle situation and one of the reports from Bleacher Report Eric pinkis had mentioned that the Knicks potentially could go after Isaiah Stewart but if they did that it would cost them Julius Randall now I didn't cover that yet I haven't because I thought it was just craziness because Isaiah Stewart for Randall sounds like I should be checked into a mental institution right it just doesn't sound correct if you guys want me to cover that before we end the show today make sure you leave a comment below leave that comment below if I see a lot of people say Troy cover the Isaiah Stewart story I'll make sure I'll go to it right now I'll cover it right now and I'll go back to the chat I'll wait for some of your comments as I drink this water I know there's a little bit of a delay but I appreciate that Susan one of my favorites hi Susan hi darling salute to you Susan thank you so much I really appreciate you Susan is is in the comments on all of my videos every single one true supporter always there Darlene same thing love it man thank you so much really appreciate that okay appreciate that so much thank you and Paul says 39 days till opening night and 23 days till the Knick's first game uh preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets so a lot of things going on a lot of things to be happy about shout out to you uh let's see here Tito says uh objective appreciate you my guy that's my guy Tito Positive Vibes I appreciate him uh let's see what else we got here in terms of the um comments going on uh Bodega WiFi says interview Marberry Brotherhood if I could get Marberry on the stage it'd be a dream come true Marberry was somebody that I used to watch and had I loved the story of Marberry coming to the Knicks I remember how that felt I remember how the Knicks felt I remember how the fan base felt obviously didn't go the way we wanted it to go but yeah Marberry there's a reason he's starberry right so definitely shout out to you POS Vibes uh Tony says cover the story ASAP uh I agree with everything you are saying about Julie R according to Darlene I appreciate that thank you so much I I really do appreciate that since a subscriber my guy Tony says he wants me to cover that um that story about uh about Isaiah Stewart I guess I'll do it really quickly I don't mind covering it um just because again I feel like it's a it's a story some people want to hear about so Julius r and his movement on the trade circuit right now that's been the Talk of the Town right now Julius Randall his fit with the Knicks how is he going to fit next season does he really truly have a fit on this Knicks team and after they talk about that we've heard a number of NBA insiders especially from the ESPN side put Julius Randall in a number of these trade scenarios we're talking about ESPN we're talking about Bleacher Report we're talking about all these Outlets but going back back to Bleacher Report an Insider for Bleacher Report Eric pinkis recently stated basically linked the Knicks to Isaiah Stewart a center that they have over there that clearly he would fit New York fit what we're trying to do and he could definitely be somebody that we could use but if the Knicks were going to do that according to Pinkus we would have to give up Julius Randall in that deal and if that's what it would take there is no way I'm even picking up the phone to have a conversation to get Stewart on this team before I give my full reaction let's go ahead and break down these following reports today from Eric pinkis shout out to Eric Pinkus of Bleacher Report he explored one dream trade Target for every NBA team and he listed Isaiah Stewart for the Knicks however pinkis wrote that Julius Randall could be part of a potential trade which would bring questions for the Knicks in terms of if they would do it or not the Knicks EXC me the Knicks accomplished much this summer by adding Mel Bridges via trade with the Brooklyn Nets ogn and Obi resigned and jayen Brunson extended however the team lost Isaiah hartenstein and has a hole at the center position with Mitchell Robinson struggling to stay healthy and prua a bit undersized 68 we continue here by Pinkus stating the team obviously uh talked with Utah about Kesler but they didn't find Common Ground there he's a viable option for New York but Isaiah Stewart of Detroit he could be a natural fit he's about the same height as a Chua but has a bigger body Stuart has a team-friendly multi-year contract has improved his outside shot and could be part of the return for the Knicks if they send him excuse me and could be part of the return if the Knicks send out Randall so according to pinkis if the Knicks wanted to get Stewart they would likely have to send Randall out in that deal to get steuart on this team and if that's what you have to do if that's the trade you have to make to get a player like Stewart on this team then I can only imagine what Detroit could want for a player like Jaylen Durant because the only player that's a center that I want out of Detroit is that young man called Jaylen Duran Young defensive minded and can still develop into a crazier monster than he is right now so that's the trade I would make but even in that situation I'm not giving up Randall let me make it clear I am not trading Julius Randall for anybody anybody on Detroit that includes Kade Cunningham I'm sorry I am not doing that because I'm not going to open up the Knicks to have a situation or an issue I mentioned it before and I'll say it again the Knicks are not going to make a trade despite themselves to make them worse if they're going to make a trade it's because the trade is going to make them a better team the Knicks making a trade for Isaiah Stewart with Julius Randall being the main focal point of that trade not only destroys our Championship aspirations but it makes us a worse team Eric pinkis listen I appreciate you I've covered some of your reports in the past and I might continue to do so I got to ask a favor can we please stop all of these crazy insane trades that have Randall going to places like Detroit for players like Isaiah Stewart have we forgotten the three-time allstar two-time all NBA player that Julius Randall is he was on Pace probably to make three-time all NBA before he got hurt last year and we're talking about trades that include Isaiah Stewart whose most notable give back to the game is his fight with LeBron James when he was bloodied up and was running to try to fight somebody like I said can he thrive in New York yes could he do well in New York yes does that mean that he would be the ideal Target that you would trade Randall for no that person doesn't exist and until they do the trade Julius Randall conversation has to stop because we have to stop saying trade him when there is no viable option available to trade him for Isaiah Stewart not one of them great Center great fit would love him on New York but would love him on New York without the Knicks having to sacrifice a thing I don't want to have to give up anything if I'm getting Isaiah Stewart on this team and again Duran he's the one I want on this squad more than any other Setter they have over there Jaylen Duran let me get him any day of the week but just sometimes guys the Julius Randall trades the disrespect the am the level of it that comes to the report sometimes it gets to a point where I can't ignore it anymore sometimes you guys ask me well Troy you keep feeding into it cuz you cuz you keep making videos about it you think that if I didn't make videos about it these articles wouldn't exist like poof they would go away that poof nobody else would talk about them that wouldn't happen the reason I do what I do is because at least when I do it and I talk about it you hear my real authentic excuse me authentic take you hear my real authentic take what's real what's true nobody's paying me to say a thing about this team this organization or anything and that's why I say it I have to clarify situations you think I want information out there that says Julius Randall and a trade for him actually exist that it's true if I see a report like that as a fan I'm going to create content on it that goes against it what's the report the Knicks potentially have Randall link to a trade what's the reality they're never going to do it let's please keep that in mind a lot of the times I feel like sometimes people don't understand why I make these videos we feel like if I create them that that's the reason that these articles and reports exist that's not true they would exist because of they would they would always exist I do what I do to make sure we get the Nick fan response to it Randall and trade reports you're out of your mind cuz they wouldn't do that right now because it wouldn't make sense right now why do get the guests on my show to ask them these questions so you guys can hear from them sources that they have they have their ears to the ground and they're telling you the exact same things that I'm telling you Randall trades are insane because nobody else is talking about them besides everybody else there you have it appreciate you guys let's go back to the chat thank you guys for letting me go off a little bit I had to do that it was in the back of my mind I couldn't let it go thank you Tony for asking me to do that I appreciate you Tony says trading an Allstar for a bench player we are not on drugs I promise some people are some people are Tony because these are the responses that I'm getting telling me things like well Julius Randall can definitely get traded for who who there's nobody listed I don't understand I don't I don't understand it sometimes I don't know I don't know I don't know how to say it what you want me to say I don't know how to respond to all the that's why some of the reports I let go did you see me respond to all of the other reports there are a number of reports right now about the Julius Randall Dallas trade you guys hear that the the the Bobby marks hypothetical trade when he was on the Zack low podcast he talked about Julius Rand potentially going to Dallas in a hypothetical trade now you might be wondering why I didn't do a video about that cuz I held my tongue cuz Bobby Mark said it was hypothetical he quickly said it was never going to happen so there was no reason for me to do a video I'm very careful guys if you don't notice I don't do a video about everything I'm very very careful but I'm only human don't push me don't don't say things that are false the Patrick Beverly video only exists today because his entire statement was false Julius randle's Jersey not an MSG false Julius Randle you got to think what is his role going to be on the Knicks nobody's thinking that no one not one person you got to think about they added a lot of people that that play Julius R's position who OG doesn't play power forward Mel doesn't play power forward press aoua $6 million press a Chua who are going to trade that's who you're worried about out the statements don't make sense and when they don't make sense ladies and gentlemen my blood pressure gets up a little bit when my blood pressure gets up a little bit I get very very angry intense hype and I need to respond and guess what this is my outlet you guys are my outlet you guys are part of the reason that I can stay a little bit sane every single day cuz I get to talk about the craziness with you so I hope I hope clip it if you need to tell everybody who doesn't know why does recap why does Troy cover all these things it's because I like to cover everything and because I got to give my response on some things not everything but some things appreciate you uh Tony says Susan Troy is uh logical I appreciate that uh Susan says Julius Randall I got your back uh Tony hell yeah uh I love the conversation right now uh Tony says imagine trading Randall for for ad and that starts more in the hospital than his team it's ridiculous I don't understand it uh Mel bester says Nick should trade for valent chunis excuse me anyways at the deadline to match his 10 he has 11 million but I get what you're saying match 10 million Sally with a chew of six million and five million player uh mle then they can give the Wizards their protected first- round pick back I don't know if you were watching the show or you're a fan of the show but that's essentially what I've been saying for I don't know about a month now that's exactly what they can do yonas valent chunis is available about $ 11 million prua mid-level exception Washington Wizards protected pick you give them their pick back you get yonas makes sense to me but I don't think that's going to be their first option though they're going to want to go young and try to get somebody that they can help develop and grow with this team because that's what they need I don't think they go the Valen Tunis route right away they probably go there eventually if they can't land anybody but again that's eventually though right but uh shout out to you uh let's see here Tony Rivier says I'm going to the Garden tomorrow I'll send the pick of the Jersey hey shout out to Tony man definitely send some pictures Tony if you have me on on uh Instagram or uh or X make sure you tag me in that I'd love to see it h Tony with the good vibe I mean Tito with the Good Vibes I appreciate you that's my good brother uh Tito always joining the chat I appreciate that let's see all right we're going to do a couple more comments and then we're going to have to end the show but I got to say guys for me this has been the best live that I have done all summer long chat was aggressive and engaging had one of my favorite guys on and Howard Beck truly an inspiration to me mentor to me somebody that I grew up reading watching observing and to talk to him today I I can't tell you what an honor that is uh it was one of my one of my dreams I could say some people have dreams to talk to their childhood Heroes and whatnot I don't think I do this today without reading Howard Beck when I was a kid real real pleasure talking today it was truly one of the best moments of my life great great time uh let's keep it going here what we got uh Mel Buster says and if they want some of the second round picks they can do that auua is still young I would definitely agree with that uh Mel I would give I would give them any second round picks they want for yonas I don't really care about second picks at this point in time even though we're going to say well Tyler KCK was a second round pick yeah he was but I mean talking about drafting second round picks I don't think the Knicks are going to draft 50 second rounders we have too many SO trading some of them I don't mind it Paul says what do the jerseys sell for at MSG are they over 150 I think so yeah they probably are if you're better buying them on nba.com when they have a sale or better yet join the Knicks recap Channel as a member you could be entered for a chance in the giveaway maybe you win the giveaway and you get your jersey like that so that could happen as well too we're going to be doing that Jersey giveaway very very soon I'm trying to think if I should do it in September or October trying to think I might do it in October and do something else for September I don't know yet we're gonna have to wait and see but we'll talk about that um let's see here uh Tony says this show has been fire fire salute to you Troy thank you man I appreciate that Tony says 175 yeah that sounds about right right at MSG definitely sounds about right you're going to be paying those prices but you get the Jersey right in hand and sometimes you can't beat that either so uh definitely understand that I love that so that Susan and Tony are some are two good friends on this app because you can see the camaraderie between them and how they're talking and the fact that they're part of this community means a great deal thank you shout out to both of you guys one more one more and we're done today let's see what do we got what we going for today let's see okay we're going to end with uh with Mel so what's the Nick's roster for training camp if they're missing the one roster spot for Center who was the 18 players for the final uh roster just for an overview I don't know the full 18 I probably could go through it because that would include the second round picks but if I had to if I had to say right now um obviously well let me squish that really quick here you go so obviously with the Knicks right now they have they have one roster spot remaining right Mel and out of the current roster that they have they have those three two-way spots currently filled they have Kevin mcculler Jr ARL huapi and Jacob toppen on those three they have obviously the starters and then you have Dante miles Deuce uh EXC mil I said Duce twice uh Dante Deuce Josh Hart press aoua Jericho Sims um okiki I believe is on an exhibit 10 deal as well too uh you have Pome dier you have Tyler KCK all those guys I might be missing a few there uh but those basically are your training camp players you're going to have other players join as well too I don't know the full exact roster of all the other players that are that are going to come in but the final roster spot what they could do with it is they could utilize whoever does well in Camp and then sign the player that is well in Camp to a standard NBA deal and they can make the roster like that and then that player could potentially be somebody on the roster until they make another move whatever that may that move may be during the season and still gives them access to the mle they can still utilize that at the buyout market so they still have options if they do it that way and I honestly think given where the free agency market is right now the fact that there's only really javel McGee and bismack bomo wouldn't the Nicks be better off if they didn't Target any of those guys had somebody earn it in Camp and then go into the season with that roster go to December 15th see who's available via trade trade for that player and then look at the buyout Market see who else you need at that point and then Target a player then that sounds like the more logical approach and honestly the more Leon Rose approach so I think that's what's going to happen but again there are a number of factors that could change and shift what occurs at the deadline what occurs in terms of the free agents the Knicks go after but I think the Knicks are going to do twofold they're going to be active on the buyout market and also active during the trade deadline for a potential trade for a center that they can get on this team and the players that are going to be included is prua and maybe potentially depending on the player that's going to be available you could see Sims you could see ke Bates doop he's on the roster as well too still you could see him available couple of ways the Knicks can go about this but I'm excited to see what Leon Rose and this Nicks from office has to do but that's going to do it for this episode guys I really hope you guys enjoyed it and if you did please go ahead and smash that like button leave a comment below and of course guys please subscribe to the channel until next time Nick fans peace thank you guys for joining the stream I really appreciate it you guys have been wonderful amazing great I can only wonder who's the next special guest going to be on the Nicks recap only time will tell make sure you're subscribed thank you to all my members and I'm out of here
