Now, since 2020 Union and Zealand East have faced off as members of the ok, conference green division this year though realignment, split them up that conference, they're gone. But the Red Hawks and the Chicks decided to continue to play each other in nonconference action tonight at Houseman Field Union was looking for its first ever win against Zealand East. Yeah, I love match ups like this because it's a guarantee that someone gets that first win in a long time and who knows what tonight's game could mean for that team going forward. First quarter. Amari Powell is going to find Jacob Torres on the screen pass and he's going to get a lot of yak yards after catch 50 yard gain puts the Dutch on the 25 yard line. They faced 4th and 20 on that same drive. But ho tt Ogo Powell's pass is hot and it's going to the end zone by way of Joseph Navarro that makes it 17 to 0. Holland to the second Dutch driving again. Powell takes it himself this time finds the promised land that makes it 14 blank Ottawa Hills to get back into it. But their pass is picked off by Braden Morgan. Bemo had two interceptions in the first half. One was a pick six. Holland gets its first win since September 2021. Blanking the Bengals 48 nothing. Staying in the tulip city where Holland Christian hosted Allendale tonight, the Maroons were looking for their first ever win against the Falcons. How Christian was up 14, 6 when their special teams did special things P block and that's going to put the Maroons in prime position for a 29 yard, Ken Van H field goal. The star kicker makes it 7 to 6 to the fourth Michael but can't find anybody open for all. So he move himself and he's going to get a touchdown to cut the lead down to 17 to 12. Now Allendale would have one last chance to take the lead, but Griffin Le you is going to make the interception on this play and seal this one. Holland Christian survives their first, their season opener with a five point win. I'm proud of Matt. He is the elderman of the show and he was keeping up with his tracks. He had that a little hot to go for us. I appreciate it. Thank you very much, Matt, I appreciate it. Now we move on where Sparta used to be a conference rival with Wyoming Park and Wyoming Rogers. But since the two schools merged and became Wyoming High school, the Wolves and Spartans have only squared off a handful of times, I guess they figured would be a good time to rekindle that old matchup. They faced off on the Fruit Ridge first quarter on the 47. Braden Busson gets the snap goes over the middle to Jaden Cochran who takes it to six to nothing good start to the season. Here we go. Late first quarter here, Sparta from the five looking to cause more damage. Hand off to Charles who breaks a tackle makes the touchdown and makes it a 12 to nothing game. Second quarter. We go Wyoming looking to get back into this thing on the five yard line quarterback keeper LA and White takes it in for the score and just like that, it was a 12 to 8 ball game. We go later on in the half. Spartans on the 45 but, and gets the snap. A dart here. Cochran takes it all the way in for the score. Sparta would run away with this one in the second half. They take it 48 to 8 and one of the things we love about high school football, of course. Yeah. Is the rivalries. We've already seen a couple tonight. Of course, we got much more coming. One of the biggest rivalries is Spring Lake versus Fruit Pork. Coming up. We'll find out who's taking home the wooden or at the battle of the bun and Oak Ridge made the long grueling nine minute drive down the road to take on their rivals from orchard view that more coming up next.
