SUMMER IS WINDING DOWN AND FOOTBALL AND FOOTBALL ARE BACK. AND WITH FOOTBALL. COMES THE RETURN OF THE NEW HAMPSHIRE TACKLES HUNGER, FOOD. DRIVE. THIS IS THE 12TH YEAR WMUR HAS TEAMED UP WITH DEAD RIVER COMPANY, THE NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANK AND HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DEPARTMENTS TO HELP TACKLE HUNGER ACROSS THE STATE. FALL JUST REPRESENTS A TIME WHERE THERE'S GOING TO BE INCREASED EXPENDITURES, AND USUALLY FOOD COMES TO THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST. EACH PARTICIPATING TEAM SELECTS A HOME GAME TO COLLECT FOOD AND CASH DONATIONS TO SUPPORT A LOCAL PANTRY OF THEIR CHOICE. THEY ALSO RECEIVE A HELPING HAND IN THE FORM OF A HANNAFORD GIFT CARD. TO GET THE BALL ROLLING WITH THE SHOPPING SPREE. THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONATION FROM THE DEAD RIVER COMPANY, IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY, AND WE NEED TO COME TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY TO HELP THESE PEOPLE. SINCE THIS INITIATIVE BEGAN, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF POUNDS OF FOOD HAS BEEN COLLECTED AT HOMETOWN FOOTBALL GAMES. WE'VE ALWAYS BEEN SUPPORTED. WE TRY AND SPIT IT BACK OUT, GIVE BACK TO THE PEOPLE ALL OF IT STAYING RIGHT IN THE COMMUNITIES WHERE IT WAS DONATED. FOR NEARLY 40 SCHOOLS IN THE STATE. DONATIONS GO DIRECTLY TO THE SCHOOL FOOD PANTRY, 100% OF IT BENEFITING STUDENTS, STAFF AND THEIR FAMILIES IN NEED OF A LITTLE HELP, INCLUDING EXETER. WE SEE AS AS BEING EXETER BLUE HAWKS. IT'S IMPORTANT FOR US TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY WITH EVERYTHING THE COMMUNITY HAS DONE FOR US. WE SEE IT'S ONLY FAIR THAT WE RETURN THE FAVOR AND GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY AND FOR THE NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANK, IT'S AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET OUR YOUTH INVOLVED. YOU KNOW, THE NEXT GENERATION NEEDS TO BE AWARE OF FOOD INSECURITY BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE ABILITY TO SOLVE IT. IT FILLS OUR HEARTS, FILLS THEIRS. THEY COME SUPPORT US. WE HELP THEM OUT. IT'S REALLY JUST A GOOD THING FOR EVERYBODY. ALL POSITIVE, GOOD OUTCOMES, GOOD VIBES. YOU KNOW. AS MENTIONED, THE DEAD RIVER COMPANY IS DONATING $10,000 TO THE NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANK. THAT MONEY WILL BE USED FOR GIFT CARDS FOR ATHLETES TO GO SHOPPING FOR FOOD. DEAD RIVER COMPANY WILL ALSO BE WELCOMING FOOD DONATIONS AT THEIR LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE GRANITE STATE.
