about us we've been working every day forever um but it's game week right it's game week the bears go back to work because they had yesterday off not Cole KET though who just you just saw in the 8 with Cole KT is that premiered at 11 o'cl uh hope everybody enjoyed that interview with marcedes Lewis because I thought it was absolutely fascinating to hear those guys talk about a dude that's going into year 19 and told Cole he doesn't want to retire until after year 20 and they're both captains so you got two captains talking ball week one for you right there on the 85 of Cole KT if you missed some of the clips but uh yeah and by the way to one of your other episodes when Cole was asking if you could get one yard as a running back or a fullback or whatever and you quickly said no yeah I would have said yes yeah I know you would have I believe in myself you need to believe in yourself more you can get a yard I was telling Cole this yesterday I don't know that a single topic that we've ever talked about here at Cho has had had more people stop me I literally had someone on the Chain Gang at our game Friday night in the middle of the game bring that up to me that's and I was like it's good for the show I go um we're in the middle of a game right now but thank you he thought you could get a yard too yeah oh that's why everyone's like you don't think you can get a yard I'm like maybe I underes myself I don't know I mean Cole was very confident that you couldn't get a yard I can get a yard that guy cannot get a yard you don't think Kyler Gordon would murder me when I tried to come off the edge I always said that if I had to block for Devin huster that like a protective mother I would just roll every single player over with this like insane oh would I pay for that I'm gonna give I'm gonna give Jason ke mcke your number and have him yell at you for saying that no I could somebody who I'm just saying I I don't want to be rude to you and I feel bad for the position that you're in right now but you couldn't figure out how to safely get off the escalator the last thing you could possibly do is block oh my God that is crossing a line Nick Moran's walking around on har this guy's you know we're talking about athletic ability I feel bad for Greg now he's saying you block NFL people where were you [ __ ] when that happened I yeah yeah I might that might have been a little rude I'm sorry Gregory but you know NFL kickoff brags I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna bet against it and we're back okay it's game week the last day of the NFL off season I might add too and we got a game tomorrow I cannot wait got a game tomorrow night it's been a long off season ladies and gentlemen and we made made it you guys made it shout out to all of you that have stuck with us here this with us this season every Wednesday really excited about that he's going to be joining us at 12:30 uh and he's in Brazil so we are getting baly from Brazil right here on chgo he was you know talking to Caleb at the Hall of Fame game few weeks ago he was breaking down veis Jones at running back in his baly breakdowns and obviously will'll have everything you need to know about the Titans as well so looking forward to talking to Baldi we'll have Nick on from halis so big show here ahead of us and we're going to start with Baldi better be in a speedo for this show keep going that's what I'm likes a snorkel but let's leave it at that uh all right here's what you need to know about the Titans Rand carthon going into uh H his second season as Titans GM they obviously fired Mike vable in a very somewhat surprising move um at the end of last season they bring in Brian Callahan from the Bengals who first year head coach so a lot of new things going on with the Titans they brought in Tony Pard at running back Derrik Henry is no longer there uh JC leam was their first round draft pick uh big time draft pick for them they're putting moving from the right side to the left side that'll be a big test for him but very talented player and he'll be next to Peter scaroni so you know using first round draft Capital the last two seasons on that o line and um it's it's G be an interesting matchup in a lot of different areas but will Levis is still their quarterback um that brings us to what worries you most about the Tennessee Titans and Greg will go to you first wow do you have to why why don't we go somewhere else two doing neither of you look like listen I am working for one yeah no that's what I'm asking what are you guys doing I'm right here with you I am posting everything to social media as I do start every show so thank you for bust tossing me I'll go first you do what you do I'm listening to you hog and what I was I was doing a quick uh reset with the callahans because I think it's just cool that Brian is the head coach and he hired his son Bill to be the offensive line coach 40 years old 68 years old that's a cool story son's the head coach dad's brought back in and you know Bill's been around forever I mean 40 6 years coaching experience 25 years in the NFL but the reason why I'm talking about it too not just the father son is where my concern is the revamped Tennessee Titans offensive line and potentially what they could do to the Bears keeping the ball on the ground you do have you know Derrick Henry's gone but you have a what I think is going to be their strength of that team a dynamic running back combo with Tony Pard and Taj Spears will Lis by the way he's you know that he's not going to run a ton but when he does he's got that size to make a difference too but so you they went out they drafted JC Lam seventh overall he is moving from right tackle to left tackle which is interesting but I mean this is a guy who allowed two sacks in over a thousand uh opportunities at Alabama and in 50 snaps in the preseason he was Flawless so the guy's been now granted it wasn't against you know it's preseason 14 snaps against the Niners 36 against the Saints not against starters whatever still guy uh has looked good in the preseason so I'm worried about it uh or or like I I've got respect for leam and then you got Peter sansky who made the transition everybody knows scony Northwestern made the transition from tackle to guard last year the Titans offensive line the reason why they're having this makeover is because they gave up 64 Stacks but scony thank you for clarifying the position well I I I think no problem uh my I just for for those out there that were just following the scaroni curve I thought it was important to mention he wasn't Elite his rookie year but I think this is going to be a guy yeah he looks awful good right now and then you know they went out and signed Lloyd kenberry bringing him over from the Broncos to play center one of the top centers in the league so you have a wall on the left side going against whoever the Bears are going to be rushing Austin Booker Demarcus Walker whoever's going to step up here um so I I I am I'm wondering and and if that the Titans are going to be able to keep the ball on the ground use that left side control the clock that is my biggest conc start Yeah Austin what about you yep Austin Booker is the second stringe of Dom Rob uh honestly the thing that worries me the most it's pretty obvious one and I think a lot of Bears fans have been dialed into this all off season and that's the interior of the Bears offensive line how are they GNA hold up against the Titans defensive line which is certainly formidable you you you obviously tandre sweat you know knows tackle out of Texas anybody that's followed Texas knows this dude can play and then you OB then Jeffrey Simmons this is a guy that is an absolute monster he is a beast and he's also somebody that called Caleb Williams out a few months ago with some trash talk some early um you know some early trash talk here uh before we even got to training camp so I know he's got you know this this whole thing circled so I'm concerned because of the continuity on the interior of the offensive line specifically that right side Tevin Jenkins I know what I can get from T Jenkins but because of the Carousel of trying to figure out who your Center was with Coleman Shelton and Ryan Bates and Coleman Shelton kind of winning that job by default because of Ryan bates's injury we don't really know how that would have played out and then also Nate Davis being a late arrival to practicing every day have they built up enough continuity to take care of the beef of that interior defensive line for the Titans because you want to establish the run you can't just run on the edges how many times last year on Third and short did they have no idea the Bears what they wanted to do whether it was the tush push with a quarterback or tush push with Cole KT you know lining up and shotgun because you don't know what to do so those things concern me and then obviously that interior push as we've learned before is vital to protect that so your quarterback can develop properly in the pocket if he doesn't trust that your interior line is going to hold up then he's going to bail bail out of the pocket more times than not we've seen that in the past year they got to get it short up so Caleb can feel comfortable grip it and rip it so I guess I'm GNA be the meatball here no concerns we're going to win by 40 bears are going to win by 40 there's nothing on this Titans team that has me terribly worried if there was anywhere I was going to lean it would have been what Greg just said which potentially the interior of that D line against the be offensive line but um you know I I think they do I should have also mentioned that Leger Sneed was signed uh y brought over and that was a trade right um they got some decent players the Bears also have decent players now like I don't know I can't look at the depth charts and be like they have an advantage in any given spot and if anything the Bears have the advantage with their depth depth that they have so for me that sound like a football coach here I'm more worried about what the bearss are going to do I I'm just I think that this is a game that's in their hands there's not anything the Titans have that's going to overwhelm them at least on paper that if they the be if the bears go out and handle what they are capable of handling on both sides of the ball I'm not worried about the Bears defense against this offense they're gonna be good against the Run they added Kevin by from the Titans too that'll help um I I just think this is really I hate to do this like already but it's kind of on Caleb to distribute the ball play point guard there's going to be Guys open if he does what he needs to do and the Bears can establish the run on their end there's not anything on the Titan side that has me terribly worried so I guess that's my answer nothing nothing worries me well they're I'm more worried about the Bears getting their stuff done on their when when they're in control so that's where I am on that right now I got more thoughts on the Titans but why don't you tell us something very important Adam well the the thing unfortunate um all right I know I wasn't consulted it is good to be talking about a game finally guys week one breakout candidate who do we think on this Bears team against the Titans this week we're going to be talking about on Sunday as the breakout guy I probably gonna go you probably call this kind of a chalk pick here um but I feel really good about DeAndre Swift I think I it would not Shock me if we're talking postgame Sunday that DeAndre Swift broke out 40 allpurpose yards couple touchdowns because I think they're going to get him involved in the passing game too he's good catching the ball out of the back field um and we really haven't seen a whole lot of him it feels like they've been hiding him and he looks really good and practices in training camp he seems to have that burst um that elusiveness I think he has a big week one game DeAndre Swift is my week one breakout candidate it's a very good one um Adam you know it's it's definitely been interesting to see him at camp and then yes they they didn't show much in the preseason other than that nice little screen pass uh you know against the bills right um so it'll be interesting to see exactly what he does in the Run game because they didn't show much so for me my breakout candidate uh I'm excited for Tyreek Stevenson here in his second year this dude is a baller and so this is going to be an interesting test because I I think the Titans do have a lot of talent at wide receiver you know they have DeAndre Hopkins Tyler Boyd and they just brought in Calvin Ridley as well right and you know so there's a little bit of there's a little bit of action there Trum Burks as well so they have some depth there at wide receiver but will Levis seems to me like a guy that's a RIS taker a guy that has a lot of arm strength and is going to try to fit some things in Windows that may not be there and you saw more times than not last year with all their Corners the Bears secondary Jaylen Johnson Kyler Gordon Tyreek Stevenson there's not really a lot of great options on who you're gonna attack so you got to pick somebody and so I think Tyreek Stevenson might be one of those first guys that will Levis tries to test and I think he's going to find out the hard way you saw last year against the Browns when Tyreek Stevenson it looked like the guy was wide open on the goal line and Tyreek Stevenson comes out of nowhere and makes one of the more impressive catches I've seen you know in a bear's uniform so I'm excited when you talk about breakout candidates for week one and potentially breakout candidates for the year Tyreek Stevenson is my guy I like it I'm gonna stay defensively and um you know I'm all about revenge I've got a list of people that I'm coming after and of course Pisa is that top of the list some other people uh this man has played 130 games in the NFL 120 of them with the Tennessee Titans got traded last year he's been had he's had this game marked off on his calendar since the first time we talked to him and he is uh you know he has been banged up in the preseason but back on the field practicing so Kevin byard this is your time my friend you've got 28 interceptions in your career you didn't have one last year when you were playing with Tennessee got one with the Eagles you're going to get one on Sunday against your former team Cu uh that dude is going to be running out of the locker room with his eyes bulging will Levis at quarterback likely to give it up why doesn't byard get in there it'll be the byed revenge game baby let's go Kevin byard yeah I like it I mean as we continue to talk about this I like how people are throwing Tory Taylor out there too as the breakout candidate this week um yeah I just it it it goes back to what I was talk like you look at these wide receivers that Titans have it's a it's a decent group Calvin Ridley Tyler Boyd DeAndre Hopkins right um but the Bears secondary is their strength so it's like anywhere we point out a possible strength for the Titans the Bears seem to have a counter right back and that's why I just I look at this quarterback matchup it's like what you going to trust more Caleb Williams or will Levis are we putting too much on Caleb first NFL start that we just believe in him that much already but I there's not a single coach or if you pulled every single Titans executive and Coach which quarterback would you rather have in this game they're gonna say Caleb Williams of course so I mean they're not GNA say that out allow but you know truth serum or something might you know and I guess that's a lot to put on Caleb in his first game but I mean to me that's just one of the areas in this matchup where the Bears just have such a big Edge or should well and and if you watch the Titans in the preseason like I don't think will Lis made anything overg glaring mistakes or anything but they also weren't challenging him that hard they were pretty simple throws it's the preseason so everything's pretty vanilla but at the end of the day I I think that you know it's going to be a much tougher challenge for will Lis here on Sunday well we do have a little bit of news on on H you're mentioning the defens back being like the strength of the Bears Paul karski just tweeted out saying DeAndre Hopkins should be at practice for the Titans today and he added we'll see how much he does so I mean that's that's a big factor I mean new copin is one of the best receivers in the league for the past several years and then on top of that we mentioned Calvin Ridley being uh a new addition for the Titans in his one game and this granted this was in 2020 completely different team in his one game against the Bears five catches on 13 targets 110 yards a touchdown he does have a lot of speed uh it's a different look than what the Bears have gotten you know probably from the Bengals who didn't have Jamar Chase in that joint practice and you never really show all your cards in preseason games either yeah it's good stuff it's good stuff yeah I think Hopkins in the injur report in the next few days is you know one of the bigger storylines of the week um obviously he's been questionable for this game for quite some time now since like basically start train talk about continuity chemistry even if he is able to play How Much Chemistry have they developed you know there's a lot of timing when it comes to wide receiver quarterback connection and you're doing that against one of the best better secondaries in the league on the road hostile environment uh DeAndre Hopkins is obviously a Pros Pro he can figure it out he's one of the best ever at 5050 balls but certainly a challenge I mean at end of the day though new head coach new coaching staff a lot of new faces secondy year QB minimal experience team supposed to finish last in their division the Bears better win on Sunday that's I mean I'm kind of surprised about I mean the more and more you look at this Titans roster and depth chart it's not depth is their problem but there're starters I mean there's a lot of there's a lot of good players uh quickly because we got to get Baldi coming up here next um what area on the Bears kind of flipping this more to the Bears side concern ears you the most right now like is there one starter one person that you just I don't know if I don't know if it's a good match up Coleman Shelton I mean like I said interior o line it's Coleman Shelton how he snaps the ball how he protects how he creates a pocket you know run blocking the whole nine yards Coleman Shelton is who I'm gonna have my eyes on this game to help Caleb Williams in his first ever NFL start I wouldn't say anybody out on the offensive line quite like that but I would agree with you that I like up front are how's that going to come together in the moment with Caleb trying to make plays Just The Chemistry Between the offensive line and the QB that'll be can they can they hit the ground running with that would be my biggest concern and and I probably say o line too um but just to you know throw something different out there it's not a guy I'm concerned about but I'm just really interested to see how Keenan Allen looks you know just because he was dealing with the foot thing is even on the injury report this week um we'll find that out here in a little bit probably and you know how effect I think he'll be effective I think he should be you know but that I you want to start the season with him being banged up at all I had the same thought like is Keen going to be able to a be healthy b hit the ground running well in this offense and it's interesting cuz poles has put so much confidence in what he thinks is a deep offensive line unit but is showing with the moves he's made that he they're more they're more concerned about the depth on the defensive line and it seems like the offensive line for the Titans is pretty solid they have a good offensive line coach so maybe we're missing a little bit there too on I know you brought up the defensive line versus the Bears o line but maybe we need to talk a little more tomorrow about that pass rush and how they're going to get home because that that's how a cover two defense runs their engine and I also want to say before we hit our break um you know people in the chat are asking about the tailgate I'm going to give you guys more like he was was just a a great kid he was really understood the game he know how to attack coverages like he was just pretty Advanced without being cocky or arrogant or anything he just understood Concepts and then when I saw him at the hall of fame you know in Canton this summer you know he wasn't going to play but he was throwing to his receivers Rome and you know DJ and and to uh Keenan and he was just you know he was just having fun but I know football is a business and we got to take it as a business but like that guy's having fun playing and and uh I you know I thought that second preseason game he was really really good um especially some of the splash plays that he' made that people said he can't do in the NFL I get it it's just preseason but he's got a lot of confidence in himself and I think the team around him is pretty good I I'm not I don't you know people always say you know can he be CJ strad I don't know CJ strad he didn't start off like the you know offensive rookie of the year he finished like it it took him a while to get there uh but you know what happens to these quarterbacks are Nico Collins was nothing before CJ strad got there I mean literally two years didn't put up many numbers last year he led the whole NFL when he was a single receiver in in receiving yards like he fed him he went to him he trusted him and that's what I'm kind of looking to see in this passing game like who's the guy that he's gonna really trust is it one guy over another sometimes it's it's not even a favoritism thing it's just that guy know is GNA get open I I'm he's going to be where he needs to be those we're gonna find some of that stuff out on Sunday against Tennessee but I'm I'm interested to see his development and who he starts to lean on as time goes on it's interesting that you're showing confidence in the Bears offensive line Baldi so I'm assuming that between the you know you winning the trenches here if you're great in the Bears are you more confident in the o line or the dline I I would say more a little more confident in the offense flying at this point I know they they traded for Daryl Taylor I loved them coming out of Tennessee I thought it was a great trade I can't believe tennessy or Seattle gave him up because I think he's a quality rusher off the edge but I think they have less question marks about the offensive line to me right now providing everybody's healthy and I don't know Nate Davis where he's at right now but I mean if they got all five guys up there I have more confidence in the offensive line well you you know you obviously we love hearing you break down the trenches when you do your Baldi breakdowns I don't think anything gets you more amped up than the trenches so you know what did you see from Austin Booker here in the preseason and your expectations on how quickly he can contribute you know to that defensive line group it's hard it's hard for a young defensive lineman to to Really contribute not many do not many put up uh you know Aiden Hutchinson you look at him in his rookie year you know rookie year versus second year I mean I mean pick a guy and I'm not comparing him to to you know Aiden Hutchinson but it's just hard it's just such a different scheme you're seeing elite players on the edge every week and if he isn't Elite and he's having struggling there's going to be some L some level of um attention being given to that guy I mean Jaylen Carter was as good as any defensive tackle in the league the first eight weeks last year 10 weeks and then he like literally disappeared um all of a sudden people started doubling him every play and he couldn't he couldn't he couldn't find the quarterback the last six weeks of the year uh teams just said okay that's the guy that we got to take care of now I don't think that's going to be the case with him but you know it's just it's different schemes people don't run power people don't play with tight ends people don't play with two tight ends in college like it's just different like I know that Big 12 Conference where he came from in Kansas like nobody plays with the tight end in the Big 12 they play Four wide receivers every defense is the same it's a three3 double clout like they all basically play the same defense every week and so it's just going to be a lot different for them uh and it's going to be it's going to be a learning curve but I do think he has length all right something that you look for it looks like he can bend the corner pretty good at this point but he's just going to see like he's gonna go up when he get get on the field son he's going to go up against his JC leam you know their first pick at Tennessee um that guy is a monster man like he's 340 pounds and he can move and he's got a punch like he looks like he's ready to go that's going to be a good test you know rookies against rookies on Sunday so we know that the Bears toyed with the idea last year moving veis Jones the running back they ended up not doing it he was sort of used sporadically out of the back field a few times but they didn't really go all in on it and this coaching staff that's com in it's clearly been more receptive to that idea this has been sort of a last resort situation for him I don't know if he would have made the team otherwise but he moves the running back they go all in on it we saw in Hard Knocks last night that even the Bears I think front office was shocked at how well he took to it and now he's on this roster I know you did a Baldi breakdown watching veis Jones at running back what did he show you at the position well he's he showed the ability to make instant cuts and to see the hole I mean you know he trusted his eyes but then you know he had two 30 plus yard runs in that last three season games he showed an explosive element now we always knew coming out of Tennessee could run but I didn't know that he had contact balance that he had that kind of vision short area type of burst and vision that you got to have at the running back position you can't dance around waiting for a hole to open you got to be able to see he it seems like he sees it pretty fast now it's a it's a talented running back room I don't know how much room there is nobody keeps four running backs active on a Sunday so I don't know if he's going to be active or not unless there's a big special teams play for him which would get them active but I would say rashan and khil I would say they're ahead of him right now but you have to kind of see what he could do against a real defense Tennessee's got a great defensive front you gotta kind of test him and see if he if he has those kind of explosive runs in him I hope they give him an opportunity and we'll we'll see so Bal what what would you tell Bears fans if they're when they're trying to figure out if CB has quote unquote arrived like what would you be looking for to think like all right he's got it he's seeing it well you're always looking for consistency you know you're always looking week in week out can he play at a a pretty consistent level um I think you're going to see a lot of Splash plays from Caleb what you hope you don't see is the plays that turn the ball over are poor decisions because he's trying to do too much those kind of things um and so a lot of there's a burning curve there for some players sometimes it's not there but I would say can you find some level of consistency where you know by the fourth week of the Season by the time we get to October we pretty much know what he's going to give us and what whatever that is you know and then if we could just see incremental Improvement whether it's ball placement or seeing the blitz quicker the one thing that he told me that day you know in Canton was like he never really had to do the Run game at either oklah okahoma or USC the quarterback basically is reading the Box on some of these check with MES where it's a run pass type thing and knowing that if it is a run because it's a light box or you know they've got a dime defense out there with one linebacker and one defensive back you know is this a good chance on second and five to go run it again like he's he's learning how to do that right now he never had like that all came from the sideline before it came from Lincoln and so that's something that I know he was I'm not saying he was struggling with it but it was something that he had to work on so there's a lot of little things that might not show up in the box score that you're looking for from has he arrived to is he getting you out of a bad play is he getting you into a right play is he calling the run to the right side if it if he does call the run those little things that we may never know unless you know I I don't think these things are coming out of any Chicago Bear press conference um that I've seen you know this summer or past years but I would say that's something that I would be looking forward to well let's reverse engineer this then that you talk about his responsibilities on that side of the ball but if you were a defensive coordinator seeing what you've seen so far how would you try to attack Caleb Williams to make him uncomfortable because I feel like his dual threat leads to you know my simple answer is just Blitz the hell out of him and hope that he you know gets confused and speeds his clock up but what would you do well I would disguise everything as much as I possibly could I might give him just a cover two shell up into the snap and then we're rotating we're moving we're going to dictate what we're in whether it's a matchup Zone man Zone whether we're doing a fire X and dropping an end you know I mean I would I would wait and not I I wouldn't give them any pictures before the snap that's no not everybody can do that Baltimore was great at it last year and they had the best defensive football and they led to league in sacks and turnovers not everybody can teach it like that some players you know need on defense can't operate that way but that's that's one of the things I would do and I would do that I would stem late on the defensive front you know where uh offensive the offensive line might get confused a little bit about blocking assignments I know when defensive tackles or defensive ends were moving at the snap for me you know it it forced me to think more than I wanted to at that point and you would mess up your assignment a little bit so that's one of the things I would do to Caleb early on um just to see how he handled that so obviously you know rookie quarterback first start there's always be questions with that as good as Caleb has looked and seemingly impressed everybody around the Bears on the other side of this matchup where you at on will Levis right now and and what he's bringing to the table and I I'm sure in Tennessee they got to be worried about him potentially turning the ball over in this game going up against what is clearly a very very strong bear secondary well I got a chance last year I did a a national radio Westwood one Monday night game Miami and Tennessee last year and I I got a chance to really watch him up close talk to him before the game um he he he looks like he's built out of a block of granite he looks like you know uh I don't know like he should be in some you know in some glass case you know like and so he he's not afraid to take anybody on physically like that's not that's not what he should do but he has no fear doing that but like the one thing you see is like even going back to his days at the combine like he's got a cannon like there's no place on the field that he can't get the ball to no matter so any however late in the progressions you are however much time he buys on some sort of movement or whatever he can get the ball anywhere he wants to get it to that stuff is clear I think their left side of the line with scony and Le them is going to be really good that's going to be his Blind Side I think they're going to have a chance to run it pretty good they've got you know they basically rebuilt their offensive line um I think you know Bill Callahan is probably either the first or second best offensive line coach in his whole business I think they're going to be a lot better up front and if you give will Lis time I think he's got more than enough you know weapons to get the ball to these guys Baldi who's the best team in the NFC North well Detroit I think has the best roster um you know I mean that's that's a stacked roster right now you go back and you watch them against San Francisco watch him against the Rams in the playoffs and you look at the talent level and now you say okay here's Jameson Williams and his third year there's no suspension there's no coming back from injury like he should be ready to rock and roll jir Gibbs had as many runs over like 20 miles an hour uh of any back in this league he's a home run hitter and you look at them on defense right now um they don't really have a weakness uh they addressed that I think in the draft I think they got the best corner in the draft in Terry on arold they they look like they have the best roster so that to me until somebody you know knocks them off they're the winner of the division and they're the team to beat in this division you picking the Packers of the Eagles by the way on this trip there's a lot more Eagle fans you know that I've seen here in Brazil and on planes and in the airport um they're bringing their uh their Devotion to this team uh it's going to be a World Cup atmosphere I don't know what the fields be like some of these soccer fields aren't great but I feel like the eagles are a better roster but it wouldn't surprise me to see Green Bay go up and down the field on him either I just think this is a brand new defense with a lot of defensive Personnel changes and a new coordinator like it won't surprise me to see Green Bay have a lot of success I I think it's GNA be a high-scoring game H but I I pick the Eagles to win because I think their offense is pretty Unstoppable too yeah what can you tell us what do you know so far about what the Packers change on defense is really going to mean uh obviously you know here in Chicago always sort of have one eye North on what's going on up there yeah what do you know about the new defense well you know Jeff hafley you know he he coached defensive backs in this league in Tampa and San Francisco uh in Cleveland he coached defensive backs for seven years in his business he worked with Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco head coach at Balon college but you know this is his defense honestly he's a four-man front he's not this multiple guy that's going to drop ran Gary in coverage he's a fourman front he's going to press on the outside with jier with you know Stokes with kesan Nixon um he's going to rob the middle of the field there's a reason why they went out you know and paid Xavier McKenna they drafted a safety you know in the second round like they want to rob the middle of the field um you where some a lot of teams like to attack like the 49ers they should be a lot more aggressive than Joe Barry ever was it's going to look different and you know they've got seven former first round picks on defense I don't know another defense that's got seven former first round picks on it now I'm not saying they're all great players but they got seven guys that were taking Stokes and Jer and you know kavante and you know I mean you go ran like it's it's a talented it's a talented group you think you're still G to see the tush push from the Eagles on Friday night uh even without Kelsey there I don't think so and here's why like you know the tush push obviously became like this whole you know this whole phenomenon right and I remember talking to the offensive line coach Jeff stoutland I was like so what's the key Jeff you know like what what gets this thing why why are you so successful he goes so he gets irritated when I ask him any question so you know in his irritating fashion he's like you know we were 36 to 38 on quarterback sneaks with Carson WBAL do you tell me what the common denominator is and I'm okay Jason Kelce and he's just walked away like okay you answer your own question they don't have Kelsey anymore and so cam Jurgens is going to be a good player I believe but I don't think you're GNA I don't think you're going to see it I I'll be maybe they give it a shot and just see how he does in it um you know they've got 370 pound maai beckon playing Right Guard it's not a bad guy to quarterback sneak behind right now we'll see how he holds up but uh Atlanta Dickerson's at 340 pounds on it you know two big you know uh water buffalow in there that you might want to stick it behind but uh I don't know like I think we're gonna see I think Kelsey was a big a big part of that success yeah I just that was one of my favorite storylines last year was just like why aren't all these other teams doing this well because they don't have the center to do it and that guy's going to the Hall of Fame so yeah Baldi we'll see you in New Orleans the Bears are going to be there you know it we know it it's it's it's it's a lock right I mean why even play the season I'm going to be announcing that game in New Orleans that third week third week of the season I can't wait to get there I think that's September 22nd but I'm I'm pretty excited to about getting to the Super doome for that one think Karma talking Super Bowl ball I'm going all the way to the end of the year B February okay got the Bears blanking here on the Eagles and New Orleans a week three so my bad no I'm getting a little ahead of myself here but you know like you're thinking Super Bowl New Orleans all right I'm thinking okay week three so um yeah we're we're on different wavelengths right there open the field holds up what's the what's the game Baldi for you I know you talking Packers Eagles but is there a game in particular outside of the ones we've talked about that has you most intrigued here this week first week of the year well I mean all these National games are unreal I mean you think about tomorrow night with you know Kanas City in Baltimore you think about Green Bay and Philly you think about Sunday night you know Rams in Detroit that was a 24-23 wild card win for Detroit the Rams had were knocking on the door the Lions had no answer for PUK and N in that game you know and then you think about you know Monday night the Jets going to San Francisco and all those storylines um but like I'll be in Indianapolis week one you know I think that um that it has a chance to be a great game Houston in Indianapolis week one division game right away Anthony Richardson destroyed uh Houston uh last year in week two uh when they went down to Houston and whipped him pretty good uh those those are all really good stories but I mean look Caleb Williams is a story hard KNX was a great great show this summer um Tennessee you know coming to town before Detroit is basic Chicago is basically playing the AFC South the first three weeks of the season so you know do they get you know they go one and0 against the AFC South you know week one against Tennessee like I I think all those are fantastic storylines y I have a couple quick hitters for you before we let you go one is do you have a rookie right now that maybe's flying under the radar that you with all your draft prep what you've seen so far in the summer in the preseason do you have do you have a a rookie that maybe no one's talking about that you think's going to have a big year well I mean this Dominic Poney that was a third round pick out of Kansas by San Francisco looks like he looks like their best guard they've had in years there honestly I know it's preseason but I'd be surprised if he isn't a good player you're talking about Christian McCaffrey led the league in rushing why not get another Earth Mover up front that just moves big bodies like he he looks like I know they had injuries there this summer so he got a chance to play a lot but he looked he looked really good to me right off the bat and and we want to let you get back in that ocean but um what do you think about this movement you know International keeps growing you're in Brazil right now new place for the NFL you'll have a much better idea than than us on you know how it all goes but I mean what's your what's your feelings right now on Brazil and just sort of this continuing to grow and grow and expand internationally well I know players and you know even at our NFL NW work like they're concerned about safety and all that stuff stay in the hotel I don't know I've been in Brazil I understand I understand any big city there's issues um but I I'm a big fan of this growth um you know we we Jordan Mada is from the international program we're finding players that played you know that are being groomed right now in Germany England parts of Africa who knows South America like there's athletes everywhere let's put the American flag in some of these footholds that are soccer you know soccer foot holes let's see if we can penetrate build a fan base um we're not CBS NBC you know ESP anymore we're streaming networks you know Netflix is playing games on you know showing games on Christmas day you can stream these things around the world they pay a lot of money for it if there's big income there's big money streams coming from these International games they all sell out in a matter of minutes I did NFL Europe for 10 years over there was I lived in Holland I lived in Spain I lived in you know England watching the games and seeing the fanaticism of the fan base they're all on the internet they all watch all you know they're all playing fantasy football like we've got fans there so why not give them our product there uh it's not the easiest thing to do uh operations travel it's not easy but give these fans over there um what it looks like a real feel for it I'm I'm a fan of the whole thing well if there's anybody that can introduce football to the world it's our International Man of Mystery Brian baldinger you you you literally are the most interesting man on the planet honestly congratulations D what did you do on the flight over any any good movies were you breaking down film the whole way I watch this movie I watched this movie with Russell Crow and uh you know he had some memory loss he was investigating this murder like it had me it had me gripped until my eyes just started to droop a little bit so uh I don't know I forget the name of it but it were you drinking that little teacup on the flight too that I see no but I needed a couple of these in order to like I didn't sleep a lot so um I needed a couple of these to kind of get myself going here something tells me you don't sleep very much you're you're always on the Move Baldi H you know that's like like John Bon JY said you know we could sleep when we're dead and that's a good time to catch there it is that's why I keep telling these guys you can sleep in March it's football season now we're ready to go and baldi's back great to have I'm looking at bra we gonna do this every Wednesday at 1:30 then lock it in ever you want Baldi you tell us I make sure like honestly here's my thing guys and I think you know this like I don't want to talk about any team on any level whether it's you know on All City or whatever unless I've watched the game so you know certainly by Wednesday I I'll seen every be game by sure but I don't want to come here and talk about a game that I haven't studied and watched so that's my thing so Wednesday at 1:30 lock it in like that's perfect for me I outside of some days where I I got to do some things with some other teams um I should be able to make this every Wednesday awesome yeah well we're looking forward to it and uh we always know you do your homework you're locked in on really every game but uh we can't wait to have you all week just like last season I was just gonna say you're always locked in Baldi you ripped off every your Bears offensive ly me went deep into the running back room you were just you're you're you're knocking it down my friend nothing's getting by you well uh let's just see like you know hey look to the bear fans out there at Soldier Field on Sunday like um I can't I don't know like you've been around all these openers I just feel like the anticipation for this one feels a lot I don't know the last time it felt this big to me like you know I don't know maybe eracer and Briggs and those guys maybe back then but this feels like it's the biggest it's been a long time yeah I'm so excited I'm gonna throw up so we're fired out there right you do you got to do your own pregame ritual do what you got to do yeah yeah yeah exactly Baldi well enjoy your assignment Friday night that sounds like a like a lot guy this jokester here 499 Super Chat do we have to go to the game after going to the tailgate just answer that no I want to party and watch the bears but I don't want to buy a game ticket so you and then he says Karm over brags which we'll get to in a second you can come party in our tailgate then there's bars in the area you can go watch the game um but if you're going to put Karm over brags then you are not invited to the tailgate how's how's that sound John John John excellent take I got an extra ticket for your family so bring them all and we'll all party dunk on bring you up um yeah and that's a good point though for John and anyone else who has that mindset you know we're steps away from the South Loop there's plenty of good places to go watch the game after the tailgate I actually highly recommend that that sounds very fun so you can come to the tail G not go to the game and then go right down the street to Flo and Santos which is a beautiful just to throw out one place it's got a beautiful patio and tons of beers and whatnot and or I don't know one of my favorite things that my wife and I still do occasionally during college football season is spend a whole Saturday Downtown and bar hop between like whatever the big games are that day so we'll obviously hit a badger bar during the Badger game but like when that game's over over like if the next big game's Notre Dame we'll go to the Notre Dame bar and if there's a big you know I don't know Alabama's playing at night hit up the Alabama bar that's one of the best parts of our city well this is how H it's amazing that you have that ability because you go those bars are packed but when you walk in the SE just parts and they give you a seat right at the bar they're like hog is here I that's that's that's honestly been the best part about this knee injury is when I'm on my crutches like this you talk about The se's Parting like people treat me like I have the Thea noticed you sometimes use the crutches and you sometimes don't and there seems to be a convenient timing to it yeah called to keep my you know keep off it at times thank you very much there's no conspiracy theory here and yes when I I need a ride on the golf cart all the way up to my seat at Bears practice I know next year somebody's gonna have to like push me down a flight of stairs before training camp or something cu the golf cart the golf cart uh was nice the golf cart was nice you could just keep the brace and just limp in there and make it happen I know I'm looking more and more like an offensive lineman every day with this he uh quick shout out by the way we were speaking of die hards Jordan Matthew Jeremy Matthew and Eddie all in the last 24 hours signing up to be a die hard we also started to get questions pouring in for Cole KT on the 85 with Cole KT on his YouTube channel he's gonna answer do like a mailbag these short sort of short episodes with the mailbags those are starting to come in um so keep sending those greatly appreciate that and I want to hit on this real quick because you know Baldi brought it up and I I actually have a strong feeling on this this is everyone's excited about this week but I have to say the last two openers that were here in Chicago against the Packers there was more hype around those I think there was more hype last year going into that season not necessarily about the expectations for the whole season as much as it was just Packers week one we all felt it at the tailgate and then nothing to me Compares in the years I've covered of this team to the anticipation in 2019 yep coming off the 12 and4 season when they had the it was the NFL opener and the NFL moved their own things to make that be in The 100 season the opener Baris Packers not the defending Super Bowl champion and this city was lit up that entire week leading up to that game and then they scored three points right so to your I agree with everything you're saying there 2018 or 2019 and last year it was a fever pitch at this point for Bears fans and I think the reason why was what you just said like the anticipation of the Bears had just come off a playoff you know trip in 2018 and then last year there was so much question around who Jordan love and the Packers were gonna be in the post Aaron Rogers era everyone thought the Bears were winning that game it even there was Packers people that covered the Packers that were conceding that they thought the Bears at that time week one had the better quarterback yeah because there was uncertainty and Justin had shown so much the year before so both years we thought this was finally the moment the Bears were going to be better than the Packers and now they line up week one last year it was both times it was you know um at Soldier Field so there's that HomeField advantage and so this year it's dialed down opponent statistically it is their highest Pro of all their win probability we did this earlier in the offseason the Titans game was their highest chance for win probability and it ended up being their week one opponent so it's now it's this guarded optimism this cautious optimism as you framed it earlier hog like fans I think are certainly as excited as they've ever been about the potential of this team but because we've been burned so many times we're not overcooking the ham like we normally do and I I feel a lot of Bears fans kind of trying to temper it down as best they can and then also being very cognizant of the the ability of the Titans and and almost talking them up a little more than I think they deserve well yes there was more hype back in the day but this is the first year that this early in the week I went on my circus Sports s and bet the Bears yesterday during the show so uh little teas you did that during the show I did I got I I saw the line moving I'm like you know what what did it move to went down three and a half from what four was four I've even seen it at four and a half yeah I thought it was at four and a half it's moved quite a bit so it's moving towards the Titans there's money on Tennessee and you're and you're zagged yeah everyone's betting on the Titans I Public's always wrong bears are beating the Titans let's freaking go I'm in I think you're the public I'm not the public the public you are the public you're the public now you're the public okay I'm not the public because the public is betting on Tennessee but well it just means the Bears are going to win by four that's fine whatever I don't care I just just win the game go B one and0 um you know I think as we build the hype here hog and we wait for Nick I think it's time to do a compare and contrast is who's done it better because I think one of the major stories of the offseason this is in the rundown one of the major stories of the off season was the transformation of Matt Eber flu his hair his look his you know everything that flu has done right going from let's call it learning on the where I am now that was a young fresh understated Karm you look more in shape kind of kind of in shape but buttoned up to the now flowing easygoing sage no allarm and if you look at where the flu has come from I mean he was kind of a grizzled kind of angry just didn't know if he could do the gig stuttering guy in his press conferences flu trying to gather the team figure out his quarterback to the now be keeping buzzing the tower three things that he cares about bonding with Caleb I mean look at that guy he's come a long way but I I I would I asked the only thing I see there is that you need to go see Flo's Barber I think I've but I think my look has trans all you've done is grow out your hair that's a big deal you don't have aard and gain a few you don't have a fade I've gotten fatter I put out like six pounds yeah and I I've lost like 60 pounds in the last two years yeah know I looked at some of your old stuff you've come a long way buddy we're doing it we're doing it we're getting hype honestly I mean I feel like I've said it plenty of times I've had some pretty good rosters and plenty of talented people in these locker rooms sometimes where oh yeah this is our year this is our year so I mean everything we have this locker room sounds good it seems good but I've seen it and at the end of the day none of that matters what matters is we're go what we're going to do this weekend and from every Sunday or Monday or whatever game it is that's when it matters so I mean the preseason hype for me doesn't move me I Caleb I mean everybody we all have to come in here and get to work just top to bottom myself new contract year that don't mean nothing no more we're going to come in here we got to go to work I I love that entire quote by Jaylen Johnson because that like at the the hype is real but I like that there's still even a player on the team who's really starting to show himself as a true leader in this locker room is like that's all cool time to kick some ass on game even starts is just the fly over CU he said in college you don't get to see that you're in the tunnel you're in the locker room so he doesn't get to see that so he jokingly said that he's going to be crying on DJ Moore's shoulder before the game to get ready for it um but no he he's really excited for that looking forward to it and you know I got a chance to ask uh Roman dun just what are you what are you expecting from this defense there's a lot of new pieces and new defensive coordinator bring in a whole different secondary and you know they're really just kind of expecting you know any at this moment I think that's kind of been the common theme from the from the offensive players is that you can't really go back and watch one particular game tape because you know dard Wilson at DC comes from the Ravens but he's also with the Eagles but he hasn't called plays so like Rome a lot of the guys on offense are really kind of uh they're they're expecting anything from this defense and you know but again he is really excited about playing and getting out there for his first NFL game what um Caleb Williams first ever ever gameweek press conference it's a big one uh what were the takeaways what was his demeanor what did you read into what did you you know feel like the confidence level was from qb1 yeah I mean I would say that it wasn't anything different than what we've already seen you guys and I think that's just kind of how Caleb approaches things he you know in hardnox we we saw after the Kansas City or before the Kansas City Chiefs game like he just doesn't get nervous and that press conference like all the previous ones he felt it felt like he was composed said all the right things uh knows that even if he doesn't have to go out and throw for 350 yards before touchdowns he's more than comfortable but with just handing the ball off and doing whatever it takes to win because ultimately that's what matters so um he also credited just like the defense this whole entire training camp in preparing him for this game like everything that has been thrown at him was done purposefully to help Caleb Williams get ready for this moment so he felt like he it looked like sounded like he was composed he was composed and it just seemed like he was ready for you know what was going to come on Sunday he was uh real quickly guys he was asked what it was like to be a captain and he didn't undervalue that he said it was um extremely uh great honor in terms of being named that he knows not a lot of rookies get that honor but just knowing that he has that respect from his teammates he he was receptive of getting that award and that designation for the start of the Season paying respect to being the the leader that he's been put into here all right Nick how their defense kind of rolls and I asked I asked Keenan Allen this I asked um Tyler Scott this and I asked Roman dun like the same question like is that the best approach knowing the wide receivers that you guys have and Keenan Allen Tyler Scott and a little bit of Rome they all kind of just smiled like if that's the approach which it is like you live and die with that um so it was interesting to see all the wide receivers the confidence that they have and when I asked Tyler Scott that question Keenan Allen had just gotten into his locker he's like when you got a guy like Keenan you're gonna press him like he just smiled like that's just not the best choice and when I asked Keenan that in the press conference it was a short answer but he was also smiling while saying it so um that's the approach you're going to see on Sunday from the Tennessee Titans are going to try to get physical with the Bears wide receivers and just based off the answers that I heard today from the group it seems like they're going to be more than ready to take that challenge and have an answer for it when it comes on Sunday anything interesting from flu and did anybody bring up hardox anywhere uh I don't think hardox was brought up but I did like uh Matt E's analogy um when he was talking about preparing for just a season he like in the beginning it was Shadow Boxing right when you kind of get into you know getting guys back into the building he described it as Shadow Boxing in in training camp he described it as sparring and now he said you got to be ready to fight and that's what this team has been preparing and building up to this moment just being ready to fight for you know obviously the guys that are in the locker room but knowing all the preparation that's gone into this like week one is here so I really like uh that analogy and also like all of us you guys included like he's excited to see Caleb Williams go out there on Sunday see what he can do but like he said before he's also really excited to see Caleb just lean on his teammates and again Caleb's more than happy to do so because he knows he has a lot of Playmakers in this room all right uh Nick anything else
