THE MICROPHONES WILL BE MUTED WHEN THEY ARE NOT SPEAKING. >>> HELLO, I AM JOHN DICKERSON. >>> AUTHORITIES ARRESTED THE FATHER OF WEDNESDAY'S SCHOOL SHOOTING IN GEORGIA. POLICE ARE GIVING AN UPDATE, LET'S LISTEN. >> COLT GRAY'S FATHER WAS ARRESTED YESTERDAY. CHARGED WITH THE FOLLOWING -- FOUR COUNTS OF INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER. TWO COUNTS OF SECOND-DEGREE MURDER. EIGHT COUNTS OF CRUELTY TO CHILDREN. MR. GRAY, THE CHARGES STEM WHEN HE KNOWINGLY ALLOWED HIS SON TO POSSESS A WEAPON. THIS IS A DIFFICULT TIME AS WE KNOW FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS AND SO MANY STUDENTS AND PARENTS IN THIS COUNTY AND AROUND THE STATE ARE AFRAID. YOU LIKELY HAVE SEEN REPORTS OF INCIDENTS OF OTHER STUDENTS MAKING THREATS TODAY AT VARIOUS SCHOOLS AROUND THE STATE. EACH OF THESE INCIDENTS, THE POLICE TOOK CHARGES, THEY MADE ARRESTS, ACTED SWIFTLY AS WE TAKE INCIDENTS LIKE THIS SERIOUSLY. THIS IS A TIME FOR ALL OF US AS A COMMUNITY AND ESTATE TO COME TOGETHER AND REMAIN VIGILANT. STUDENTS MUST BE SUPPORTED AND ENCOURAGED IN THIS COMMUNITY ACROSS THE STATE TO CONTACT THE MEMBER OF SCHOOL FACULTY WITH ANY AND ALL CONCERNS OF SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY THEY MAY SEE. LOCAL, STATE, FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT, WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TOGETHER AROUND THE CLOCK IN RELATION TO THIS INCIDENT AND ANY OTHER INCIDENTS THAT, RAISE CONCERNS TO THE SAFETY OF STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND CITIZENS. ADDITIONALLY, COLT GRAY, WHO WAS ARRESTED YESTERDAY, HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH FOUR COUNTS OF FELONY MURDER. WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK TIRELESSLY TO FINISH COMPLETING THIS INVESTIGATION AS WE MOVE FORWARD. I WILL MENTION TO YOU, I WILL APOLOGIZE TO YOU. YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS A MURDER INVESTIGATION. A SERIOUS INVESTIGATION, ONE THAT WE TAKE SERIOUS. WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK ON AND BE VERY THOROUGH WITH IT. WITH THE DVI AND LOCAL PARTNERS. YOU HAVE TO FORGIVE US IF WE DO NOT ANSWER ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND I KNOW YOU HAVE MANY. WE WANT TO MAINTAIN THE INTEGRITY OF THIS INVESTIGATION BECAUSE IT HAS A LONG WAY TO GO BEFORE IT IS FINISHED. I WANT TO REMIND EVERYONE THAT WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO PRAY AND SUPPORT THE VICTIMS INVOLVED HERE. THE SCHOOL, TEACHERS, FACULTY, STUDENTS. THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES, THEIR FAMILIES AND THOSE WHO WERE INJURED. I WOULD LIKE TO CALL ON THE SHERIFF TO GIVE YOU A BRIEF UPDATE ON THE STATUS OF THOSE WHO WERE INJURED FROM YESTERDAY'S EVENT. THANK YOU. >> AS THE DIRECTOR SAID, I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT WE OBVIOUSLY ARE LIFTING UP THE FAMILIES. OUR HEARTS ARE HURTING FOR THEM. THE KIDS, STUDENTS, TEACHERS. THE NINE INJURED, I AM VERY HAPPY TO SAY WILL MAKE A FULL RECOVERY. THAT IS A TESTAMENT TO THE RESPONSE THAT WE HAD. THE RESPONSE WITH MEDICAL STAFF, WE ARE VERY HAPPY TO SAY THEY WILL MAKE A FULL RECOVERY AFTER THAT RESPONSE. AGAIN, LIFT UP OUR COMMUNITY. PLEASE KEEP THESE CHILDREN, THE TEACHERS -- WE CALL THEM TEACHERS BUT I CALL THEM HEROES. WE MET WITH THEM TODAY, EMOTIONS ARE VERY HIGH, OBVIOUSLY. WE TOLD THEM THAT WE LOVE THEM. WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS AND WHAT THEY DO. WE ARE HAPPY AT THE FACT THAT THEY STOOD IN THE GAP BETWEEN THE EVIL TO PROTECT THE CHILDREN. WE WANT TO INCLUDE THEM. I WANT TO REPORT TO YOU THAT ALL NINE PEOPLE WHO WERE INJURED EXPECT TO MAKE A FULL RECOVERY. THANK YOU. >> Reporter: ARE THEY STILL IN THE HOSPITAL? >> SUMMER IN THE HOUSE AND SOME HAVE BEEN RELEASED. I WILL LEAVE IT AS I MENTIONED IN THE RELEASE. HE KNOWINGLY ALLOWED HIM TO POSSESS THE WEAPON. >> Reporter: DID YOU GUYS MAKE CONTACT WITH HIM? HOW DID IT GO WITH THE INVESTIGATORS? >> I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE DETAILS. HE IS IN CUSTODY AT THIS TIME. >> Reporter: [ INAUDIBLE QUESTION ] >> IT IS DIFFICULT TO SAY AT THIS POINT. WE ARE STILL INVESTIGATING AND FOLLOWING ALL LEADS AND EVIDENCE. WE WILL SEE WHERE IT TAKES US? THE ARREST WAS MADE WHEN WE HAVE THE COST TO MAKE THE ARREST. >> Reporter: DID HIS DAD BRING HIM TO SCHOOL? >> I AM NOT SURE. SORRY. THE BIGGEST THING AS I MENTIONED, HE IS IN CUSTODY AT THIS POINT IN TIME. HIS CHARGES ARE DIRECTLY CONNECTED WITH THE ACTIONS OF HIS SON, TO ALLOW HIM TO POSSESS A WEAPON. >> Reporter: WILL HIS MUG SHOT BE AVAILABLE TONIGHT? >> IT DEPENDS ON HOW LONG IT TAKES TO BOOK HIM. IF IT'S AVAILABLE WE WILL GET IT TONIGHT, IF NOT, TOMORROW. >> [ INAUDIBLE QUESTION ] >> I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT NUMBER? I WANT TO REPORT THAT ALL MEN WILL MAKE A FULL RECOVERY AND BE ABLE TO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL. [ INAUDIBLE QUESTION ] >> I BELIEVE 24 ADULT TEACHERS AND THE REST WOULD BE STUDENTS. >> Reporter: CAN YOU EXPLAIN IF THERE IS PRECEDENT FOR THE FATHER TO BE CHARGED? >> I DO NOT HAVE DETAILS ON THE HISTORY. I WOULD VENTURE TO SAY IT IS NOT SOMETHING NEW. >> Reporter: CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE EVIDENCE THAT LED TO THE CHARGES? >> NO, MA'AM. I APOLOGIZE. >> Reporter: YOU WERE STRONG YESTERDAY TO SAY THAT IT WAS AN EVIL ACT. LOOKING BACK AT WHAT THE 14- YEAR-OLD SAID TO INVESTIGATORS, CAN YOU REFLECT ON WHAT THE COMMUNITY IS FACING AFTER WHAT HE ALLEGEDLY DID? >> WHAT WE ARE FACING? HEARTBREAK. WE ARE HEARTBROKEN. A YOUNG PERSON BROUGHT A GUN INTO A SCHOOL. COMMITTED AN EVIL ACT. AND HE TOOK LIES. HE INJURED MANY OTHER PEOPLE. PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY. I AM PROUD OF THE COUNTY. I'M PROUD OF THE SUPERINTENDENT AND THE TEACHERS AND THE SCHOOLS. I AM PROUD OF WHERE I LIVE. WE WILL GET PAST THIS. YOU SEE BEHIND ME, WE HAVE A VIGIL GOING ON. I WILL COMMUTE TO SEE THOSE KIDS THAT ARE HURTING. >> Reporter: CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHETHER YOU ARE EXPECTING MORE CHARGES? >> I ANSWERED THAT EARLIER. THE INVESTIGATION IS STILL ONGOING. WE WILL SEE WHERE THINGS GO WITH THE INVESTIGATION? I WILL LEAVE IT AT THAT. >> THAT'S ALL WE HAVE TONIGHT. PLEASE MONITOR OUR WEBSITE. WE DO NOT ANTICIPATE ANOTHER UPDATE. THINGS ARE DEVELOPING.
