Is FSU's Season DOOMED?

it would be one thing if Florida state only had a quarterback issue and if you watch our show we've always thought that dju would still be dju but for FSU not only do they have more problems than that but the problems look to be terminal both sides of the line of scrimmage have gotten absolutely owned by Boston College and Georgia Tech the eye discipline of the linebackers in secondary could actually pass an application for legal blindness and for some reason when dju does deliver a good ball the skill players can't haul it in and last night on some crucial downs but the biggest problem for Florida State may have not even shown itself yet the risk you take when you bring in so many guys from the transfer portal is once it starts to go bad these guys haven't been through the years of cohesion together that can resurrect a horrible start or or circle the wagons mercenaries don't react well when it doesn't go good and it's a team illness that I'm going to start calling the reverse dbo now norval's hardest days are in front of them it's more than just an X's and O's or a quarterback controversy it's going to be trying to keep this team together for the rest of the season which at this point seems pretty daunting bring in my co-host former Michigan quarterback David con my brother former Western State Colorado wide receiver bla Crane and David you know the quarterback always gets too much blame he always gets too much credit you've lived that life uh dju has not been great he made some decent throws last night just like he did against georia Tech and made some bad ones but for this Florida State team the problems are every everywhere 263 yards of rushing that Florida State team is giving up that's back-to-back games now they've given up over 200 yards of rushing but on the DJ ungal laay Point quickly what I've been saying for eight months is since he transferred in is like hey you're not going to have a ceiling to be able to beat the best teams in the country with him at quarterback replacing Jordan Travis and that's made a lot of Florida State fans angry you guys have been saying something similar but I've said at least the floor will be higher because you know what sort of consistency you're getting that's the premise that I've been putting forward la that was bad that was bad that wasn't mediocre play that wasn't average Quarterback play that was that was really bad and put his team in positions to lose consistently I agree with you like there there are problems everywhere for Florida State right now but I just want to end this by saying all credit to Bill O'Brien oh yeah that man I mean Thomas castios we talked about how Dynamic he can be with his legs you know and and can he limit turnovers can he play on time can he play in Rhythm Bill O'Brien's the perfect type of quarterback coach to have if you're trying to play like that and so I don't know the ceiling the ceiling to me is high for Boston College uh it is and it's funny you know when Bill O'Brien took that job remember he was going to like Ohio State to be the OC and then he took the Boston College job you know how many guys transferred out of Boston College after he took it zero good sign those guys have been there together I think you saw that last night and Blaine one of the drives I think you saw that the most is when Florida State went down and scored that touchdown after poda made that great C I mean he was their best offensive weapon last night made that great catch and then scored the touchdown Boston College not only answered with a touchdown Drive they just ran it they threw it would tried to throw it one once maybe twice on that drive but they lined up with roash show and trean Ward who nobody probably had a better night than tan Ward who transferred from Florida State to Boston College last night ran it right through him casos the the counter schemes all the Gap schemes the zones and casos would keep it but Blaine we mentioned going into this game when we previewed it don't be shocked to see some very similar formations alignments and motions that we saw against Georgia Tech and have something built off of that and we saw that with the quarterback run last night with castios they had a couple little twerks built off of it but they didn't even really need it because I mean they were ripping off chunks like me with an Oreo cookie I mean let's be honest your Boston College Whipped Your Ass between the tackles we saw that from the beginning and look the the offense for Florida State didn't help you can't go three for 16 on third down Boston College had 20 more minutes of possession than Florida State that's a Bill O'Brien game to a te and we said this we've been saying this and I'll keep repeating it DJ U wasn't the guy at Clemson he wasn't the guy at Oregon State he's not going to magically show up at Florida State and be the guy all right you won 11 games at Clemson and still got pushed out the door this is not surprising I'm not surprised by this you're not surprised by this and I know you're not surprised by this DJ U is a mediocre quarterback and it's showing a lot of how much of what Jordan Travis did for this team last year I think Mike norell is a great coach and I think Florida State's going going to be okay but you miss with dju and Jordan Travis was a sleeper piece for this for this team Florida State team last year who got him out of a lot of trouble and you know to that point the methodology I think behind bringing in dju was all right we don't have an elite quarterback in the portal we need to bring an experienced guy we know we're going to be heavy on the Run he just needs to be a mediocre piece in an elite machine around him but what has turned out is dju is a mediocre to below average piece in a very Below on a very below average football team and I think you've seen that two weeks in a row and now going forward when you look at this schedule boys I'm going to be honest I'm feeling a whole lot better about my Memphis pick being the the 12 team to make it and I'm feeling even better even though SMU did not look good against Nevada about that game where Florida State's got to go on the road and play SMU uh here in week five I believe but going forward David you play doctor football how do you fix this if you're Mike norbel what is I'm going to the doctor my team's sick it may be terminal we got lumps we're getting blood tests like what's the fix here if you're Mike norell the terminal in that analogy would be have you lost the locker room have you lost the culture I have a hard time believing that's the case especially a year after you go undefeated I mean Mike norell has clearly done a great job of building up the culture there uh you can't yeah like you say you can't just completely blame the quarterback here I don't understand and we asked in this offseason you've lost multiple first rounders from the defensive line how do you replace that and the word out of Tallahassee was well we've done that we just reload at that position okay I'll believe you but I need to see it first now you've given up over 200 yards of rushing in each of those games I I don't understand like at some point you're looking at barely making a bowl game if you keep that up the Memphis game gets a lot more interesting though because Memphis isn't known for running the ball right like Seth henigan is a really great player and now you're going to have even more talking about how I mean the money's going to come in on Memphis in that game it was already going to be an interesting pick I just wonder how much can Memphis now take advantage of what's clearly a weakness on Florida State i' I'd be running mesh wheel I can probably how many times did Florida I'm sitting there live no I'm live tweeting last night after the third time when they didn't cover the wheel I was like Florida state has not covered the wheel three times if I'm Boston College I would run it again right here they ran the exact same play and hit it for the touchdown 30 seconds after I hit sen it's Blain and they dropped one and they dropped one on that first might but but Blain FSU I believe is going on a byee this week if there's ever a great time to make a change it's during the bye-week but here's the problem putting Brock Glenn behind that awful offensive line right now I don't think it's going to make things better it could actually make things worse but the change when people want change and the boosters and the doners and the fan base are all freaking out the backup quarterback's really popular Florida State can't Darius Washington what ezar Roku did to Darius Washington the left tackle for Florida State last night is criminal in 17 States and about to be 18 at this how much worse can it get I mean you just got your ass beat by Boston College at home well unless you have a guy that could run like if you had a guy that could just run maybe he's an okay thrower you can innovate there but if your answer is let's put a young pocket passer in there with this offensive line I don't see a world in which that gets better maybe you're just trying to let him take his lumps and learn through it but I'm just to the point now with your Florida State and Mike norell you're sitting around there looking at all these things that are wrong we know what's wrong with Clemson you don't have the skill position to beat Elite teams right but that's one problem and it'll get better because you have some young freshman that you like with Florida State I mean it's like that Always Sunny in Philadelphia board there strings pointing to this problem and that problem everything is a problem hey what's up YouTube do us a favor you like the
