we spawned the wheel landed on women who Rock Tina Turner definitely definitely fix that Bill yes uh the Sac State planetarium has several events this summer where you can learn while also having fun at the same time Dina cup for is live in Sacramento learning more about the new shows that they have added this year hey Dina hi yes good morning you had the best visuals of what is on the Dome this morning of course a galaxy far far away indeed and that is what you're going to be able to see if you come to the Planetarium among with many other things this next Monday specifically is a kid's day and today we have Kyle uh Kyle Waters here thank you Kyle Waters and you are the planetarium director okay so let's talk about kids day coming up on Monday yes we are very excited for this opportunity uh so we're doing something kind of new something special here at the planetarium having shows designed specifically for our younger audience so all of these shows are completely free to kids 12 and under they're going to be geared towards kind of that Elementary age audience we're going to take them on a tour through the solar system we're gonna check out the night sky see some constellations they're gonna get to watch a movie a special movie designed to play all the way around full 360 degrees on the Dome it's going to be a blast yeah it is really so cool okay so let's you have kind of the guts of the machine here behind us which is actually really cool so I don't know if Mark you can come over and see you're kind of you get to kind of choose what we see here what are we looking at when we look at these pictures of stars because this isn't actually real time well no not real time at all right so these are these are new images in the sense that they're new for us to look at NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has been fantastic for getting us new images of the cosmos but the truth is these images we're looking at are actually millions and millions of years old in a sense it takes light a long time to get to us here on Earth from these far away galaxies and so what we're looking at here is not actually what this galaxy looks like it's what this galaxy looked like millions of years ago and and so let's go to another slide because I think it's just so cool you have the ability to really just I mean we could we could go a lot closer to home so here's a very cool infrared view of the planet Jupiter it looks very different than what you might be used to seeing when you see pictures of Jupiter because this is Jupiter scene with infrared eyes oh my gosh oh okay what's another one now we can get the gorgeous Pillars of Creation yes a site where stars are being born many people don't realize stars are born and live and die they have life cycles a lot like organisms here on Earth so this is a site where stars are being born in our galaxy oh my gosh and that would have been millions and millions and millions of years ago so by now they're old well these are so these ones actually so now I got I got these ones aren't quite as old this is right here in our own Galaxy so they're only thousands and thousands and thousands of years old not millions and millions but it is entirely possible that some of these stars are already gone they've already exploded and died and we wouldn't even know it yet because that light hasn't got to us yet no this is so fascinating okay coming up in the next hour we're going to talk much more about some of the other shows that you have here at the planetarium how can people sign up again Monday kids day you have added two shows actually because the first one already sold out yeah we had a 10 o'clock show but you cannot go to that one sorry unless you already have tickets but it sold out so quick we added some more shows we got an 11 30 show and a 1pm show on Monday tickets are available now on our website you can find us at csus.edu planetarium or you can just search Sac State planetarium you'll find us okay well thank you so much a fun fan of good a fun friend of good day I'm Starstruck [Applause] that's so cool okay coming up in the in the hour we're gonna have much more from the Sac State planetarium I hope the lighting is okay but you know we're trying to really give you a good look okay so stay with us right here on good days back over to you it looks great uh are you using your iPhone to light yourself I am I'm lighting myself with my iPhone which is tricky because it's also I I'm also dialed into the show on this phone so I'm like trying not to smack him in the head there's a lot going on well there's a lot the Dome looks great the planter looks amazing all right thank you
