WR Deebo Samuel Sr. um kind of feel the same to me you know um with me you know I kind of had a feeling that you know the guys will be back it's just a matter of time you know um with contract negotiations and how that goes I've been through it so I know it's the only a matter of time before that get back how do you feel headed into week one we pretty good I feel like we ready um we had a great Camp you know um might as a couple guys but you know we know what they're capable of so I mean we know what they bring to the table so um it's all hands on dick and we ready to rock you expecting SAU G do kind of follow you wherever you go I I don't know what to expect actually we just going out here U we just got a game plan and get ready for practice you been helping us you were most every practice you're going hard you're looking did you come into this Camp determin to be impressive have I come in to be impressive I came in to be me um which was being shape and being the best version of myself I could what do you see on film from Robert solid defense say it again what you seen on film from Robert solid defense um you know they play fast they physical you know guys run to the ball you know um similar to kind of what we do here but um cuz you know you know he was here before he went over there so I mean they play Fast physical as well not to take it to a sour note but obviously what happened with Ricky over the weekend you were kind of the person kind of standing in the Gap letting everybody know that he was okay you're also a team captain how big was it for you to kind of do that for him um it was It was kind of shocking to me at first cuz um juice called me and I was like I was kind of surprised I'm like what like what do you mean and then um I had called Mike and see what was going on and then they had told me and I was just like n this can't be right and then um got on the phone with John and he was already up there and I talked to him and he told me everything was going to be good and then later on that night you know I kind of talked to him and next day went to seeing him and he said was in good spirit so I was good how much was it relief as it to get the FaceTime with oh that was that was amazing just to see you know with the situation that that happened you know with him just being able to still kind of be normal at the time and then the following day he's he just you know the man just a soldier is it a miraculous oh yeah for sure yeah how honored are you to be captain again second around um it's it's pretty good um just to just to see what my peers think of me and how know I go out here and work and you know just to let me in the cabin was a blessing de I don't know if you knew this there was speculation about your future Beyond this season report you rest structure your contract generally indicates someone who may not be leaving anytime soon I don't know what y'all think like re construction contracts mean but um that's not for y'all to know it's for us to know but um I'm really controlling things I can do is be my feet are I'm here right now and you tell we know we see what the future hold new number how come this year number one um it's the only number I ever wore before I got here actually so I went back to one for sure what's that the last I don't know LB Fred Warner 72 hours been like for you did the kind of the emotions at the Ricky peer saw thing and then getting Trent and auk back in and just what's it what's it been like yeah I mean um handling one thing at a time obviously the rooky situation thank God that he's even alive with us today I mean that was in insane situation um so happy that he's back here around the building with us and then with ba and Trent having them back in the building is huge major um boost for us as a team obviously those are two not only spectacular players for us but leadership wise both of them being back in the building is Big so uh we're happy to have them on on Tuesday when those guys are back is there any extra pep in the Step at at practice like you can feel hole again anything anything oh yeah absolutely absolutely you know um like I said those are two guys that we rely on heavily not only uh on the football field but off the field you know just as as teammates as brothers so um it's good to be back Fred whenever you started a new season last year you guys didn't know about BR C's Health there's always some things that you wonder how they're going to turn out when you're starting a new season are there any question marks that kind of stand out for you that you want to see how things are going to be resolved as we approach the new season no not necessarily um every season is a new year and you don't know what your team is until you go out there and you put it on tape uh and so obviously we have a great test week one Monday Night Football at home against a great opponent and uh I'm excited to just put put together a great uh week of work preparation uh to make sure we're our best selves on Monday will it be different seeing Aon Rogers in a different uniform not in the backers uniform I know he was on there last where he got hurt so early yeah no it'll be different um you know obviously we've had our battles over the years man I love competing against Aaron happy to see him back healthy um so it'll be a great match up when you put a tape in and watch him cook what what do you see what jumps off yeah I mean he always has had the Savvy right uh the ability to extend plays to make the big plays um you know keep control of the game obviously make the plays in The Big Time moments so you know there's nothing that you could just pinpoint and be like hey we got to stop him from doing this you got to prepare for it all um you know and so we'll have a big test ahead of us he's got a little no Look to Him doesn't he he got a little no look yeah yeah you got you got a little no Look to Him man does it all he's one of the greatest of all time for a reason so he can do it all a lot of times Robert Salah what kind of impact do he have in your career what do you how did he sort of maybe set up his defense yeah absolutely uh I owe a ton to co I would not even call him Robert coach Sol um as I know him and uh he means so much to me from the moment I stepped in this building on my 30 visit you know him showing confidence in me as a player um and then all obviously to to give me the nod as the Mike backer in my rookie year um that takes a lot of guts to give a rookie that that power but man I mean I'm so happy for him and his success hopefully not very successful on Monday night of course but um man I mean I I owe a lot to him you know just right there with Deo man he him and him and Co Sol were huge in my my development on a similar note to that when Kyle promoted Soren into D coordinator off he said he wanted the defense to kind of get back to basics what what you did with Deo and solid having gone through a camp do you do you feel that and if so what what ways yeah absolutely uh I think the fact that uh coach senson has emphasized the style of play that we're trying to uh I mean not necessarily get back to iel like we still played with that style last year but just continuing to work on like you mentioned those base fundamentals um the Relentless finish and effort uh violence to play the game um and then as well as playing our technique and that's what it's going to take to win games and and play the style of defense that we want to play obviously the number one goal stopping the run so what do you see with brie H and how can you use that to kind of set the tone for the season yeah I mean huge test I think he's one of the best backs in the league just from watching them I haven't played him yet but um so Dynamic the ability to hit the Home Run uh with the speed his Cuts in and out of inside the Box uh I think is one of the top in the league so he's going to be a huge test for us we got to swarm him it's not going to just be a one guy show we got to we got to swarm the football um and I know they're they're excited about the rookie that they brought in as well so we got to make sure we're on our assignments and we're playing Relentless football in order to have a chance of stopping it it's been very exciting um having Trent DL Nick Bosa show up and uh and and ba I was on the other side of it last year and I was super excited to get back uh I may have even been more excited for them to show up uh I know how important they are to our team and uh I just love both of them as people so it's good to have them did you notice an uptick and just energy or anything on Tuesday when those guys start coming out to practice I mean yeah initially but then everybody gets back to back to the routine back to work so it's a quick little celebration and then um even for BA and and Trent you you sign your deal and you know that you're secure and you you you're making what you deserve but then it's back to your your job as friend pulled you aside and talked about um you know helping him get ready for the season to kind of sharpen his skill before Monday uh we were texting a little bit um and I said whenever you show up I'll give you some some live reps but uh I don't think he needs it um our scout team guys will give them good looks uh I think we'll get a couple reps today full speed against the ones but uh if anybody could come back and play like they never left it's him Nick there's so much change on the defensive line this year what do you kind of see as the identity of these new guys coming in and how they mesh with the guys who are already here um well yeah I mean it's pretty much all new guys besides me and Kevin um yeah right and hardgrave and Beal um for the most part pretty new I mean hardgrave has only been here a year and and Rob hasn't played too much so me and Kevin have been here for a while and we know the scheme really well but I really like the new guys I think um I think we've improved I think uh Leonard brings something to our defense that we haven't had a guy who could make plays all over the field and has just a mo that's uh he doesn't get tired so having a guy like that who's super long and athletic and could Rush um and I think this scheme's going to bring the best out of him um so I'm excited I really am what imp Robert Sal have on your career and on the way that just what' you say Robert Sal what kind of impact did he have on you when you came in and just kind of um well he brought me here well had a hand in doing it at least so I'll always be thankful to him and um he's he was a great coach uh I think he he worked really well with Chris casser obviously and um and and just let Chris do his stuff with us and and it worked out said that last year it was an adjustment period for him to get kind of up to speed do you see him playing faster even B now yeah I do I think he's got a year under his belt and I think he went into the off season with the right mindset of training extremely hard and being ready um to have one of his best years and I could just tell by how he came in from from day one that he's he's uh chomping at the bit to have a great year back in as a captain we know why you weren't last year but what does it mean to be a captain on this team uh I heard we got a parking spot so um no it's great being a being a captain on a team like this with so many unbelievable players that have done such great things in this league um it's an honor and uh I just um I just want to live up to it so I'm going to work hard and be the best leader that I can Nick because he got hurt so early last year will it be different seeing Aaron Rogers in a different uniform not in the package you guys have had some good battles in the past yeah he'll be wearing a different uniform but it's definitely still him so we'll we'll prepare like we're playing him toward the end of last season the run defense came under a little bit of scrutiny how do you think that's changed from a year ago um I think we have a group together that's going to be here for the whole year uh last year we kind of piecing some piecing some guys together not that they didn't do a great job but it's hard to get this scheme because the the details are very important and if you're not in it through um August and July um or the end of July and August then um then you're going to be behind a little bit and it shows in your get off and how fast you're playing and all those details really count and I think Chris went out and picked guys that he he's seen over many years who jump out and play this scheme really well so um I think we're going to be a little more cohesive as a unit Floyd is right up to I do yeah I think he's going to um I I I hope he's going to have the best year of his career which is saying a lot so Nick Nick when Kyle promoted Soren he said he wanted the defense to kind of get back to basics to back to who you've been in the P do you feel that now having gone through a camp that this feels more like you know kind of what you're doing with Deo um yeah I mean I wasn't here for Camp last year so um I feel like it wasn't that much of a difference last year I just think we're more tied in from the front to the to the backers to the back end and I think um we have talent in the back end that we haven't had before no offense to the guys of the past but we we had great guys in the past um but we definitely have some really good depth and um just studs
