OT Rule Confusion, Team To Dethrone Chiefs, Andy Reid Returns (Full Show)

NFL is America's sport yeah all right shake it like you I like you welcome to uh day one post NFL it's a sad day is it not cuz we got to wait for a couple months for the NFL draft and then you get all the combines and you get the mini camps and then we start talking about how the New York Jets are going to win the Super Bowl in 2025 and that's the kind of place for good morning welcome to another edition of the carton show that guy right there is David Kobe yeah my man right here still Super Bowl champion and the only one on this set right now of course is Mr Willie cologne in a little bit my main man plao Baris is going to join us it's funny I spent all day yesterday lounging around after getting no sleep the night before because of the super bow and I keep seeing this headline popping up on the screen no matter what network I turned on no matter what I was watching it was headline Super Bowl 58 the most watched t television event since the moon landing in 1969 I raised my hand I called BS on that all right well I'm the moon landing part so first and foremost it also goes to show you that as much as people complain about who the announcers are or what network it's on nobody cares cuz all I hear about Tony R sucks and Jim N is old me 123 million people allegedly watch the Super Bowl but here's my problem with it and I spent all day with an advocates in my calculator and Googling things and and and and binging things and I couldn't figure it out Bing how is it I I know I was desperate I went to Bing yeah well Gates and I but here's here's the thing back in 1969 yeah there were 200 million total people living in this country there was no digital TV there was no cable we had antennas and tin foil and you want me to believe that in 1969 90% of the living people in this country were watching the moon landing and at the Super Bowl this year with a 100 million more people in the country and a million different ways to watch the game had the same ratings no way first of all your Advocate mat your Advocate is broken that's probably 60% but don't forget this not everybody had a TV vac either 200 million people probably only three of them have televisions in their home in the first place I did the research back in 1969 oh you had time oh yeah I there were 65 million television sets in this country how in the world did 122 million people watch the moonlanding I mean more than one person had a TV set they didn't know that and they had no way to calculate it back then so here's what I do did the moonlanding go to overtime well I'm not even sure if it happened that's another story for another day why not today but I think we have invented the number I think we have invented a number that you say we just Whi it out numbers not even there's no way that happen and I'll tell you something else I've done this for uh 32 years of my life and not a single day in the last 3 TI my first job in radio was August 24th 1991 that's a long time ago 32 years I've never met a single person that had that box on their TV or the diary to give you ratings that being said it proves as I come full circle here that the NFL is America that while a lot of people grew up in the 50s 60s and 70s when baseball was the American Pastime and that was an Undisputed Truth NFL football dominates and owns the United States of America yeah solely because of Usher right we all really tuned in for Usher I think we did not tune in for Usher not app promise you that that didn't happen but speaking of us you're glad you brought it up a little bit later on in the show uh we're going to try to find the guy that went flying into the air that's the biggest story in the no one's covering kind of like Buzz Aldren allegedly did back in' 69 uh of course this guy never landed uh where Buzz apparently did uh and beyond that we also have uh we found the woman who fell off the stage on the roller skate so we uh we broke all that down but yeah the super bowl3 million people all saw it's a holiday that Andy Reid is fat that's how many people how many winner you a fat winner yes all look we got a great show for you today obviously much more reaction to Super Bowl 58 and what direction the NFL moves now in and of course the big question everyone's going to have can Kansas City do what no team has ever done and that is threee and what it comes to the leader of that team Patrick Mahomes when you take the greatest players of all four North American Sports is he the greatest of all time not as quarterback but as athlete after this hi welcome back to the Cardon show Which team has the best chance to beat the Chiefs? obviously still recovering from Super Bowl 58 and if I'm hung over God knows what Jason Kel's going through I'll today because Jason Kelce maybe enjoyed uh Travis Kel's running the playoffs more than anyone including Tor Swift this is the casy Afterparty I'm a Man shows up and one of the Mexican wrestler masks Luchador L yeah and just having the best possible time that a man could possibly have which is real big contrast to how he felt after last year's Super Bowl when he was on the losing end and had to watch his brother get all the accolades but that dude if he's going into retirement he's going into retirement in style no question I I mean the bottom line he's had a shirt off in Buffalo now he's looking like Rey Mysterio in a DJ booth uh I think he's retired I think this is a clear he's done I would think this is cuz I know he kind of walked back whether or not he's going to retire many people think he's a Hall of Fame Center when it's all said and done uh I'm trying to get him to work with us next year if he is retired but uh he does he doesn't seem like gu focused on next year I think this lifestyle work out well for him because he can go from the bar to the show work on the carton show it it has been done it certainly has been done uh meanwhile obviously Patrick Mahomes is now doing stuff that very few men or women have ever done in the history of organized Sports you got the three titles you got the superow MVPs you got the regular season MVPs but check out this list these are athletes with three championships and two regular season MVPs in their first seven years in their chosen sport so Mahomes is in there now in the NBA only two guys ever did it and neither one of them them are known as Michael Jordan Larry Bird and Bill Russell both obviously went to Boston Celtics in baseball three guys have done it Stan muel Mickey mantel Joe dagio and a lot of you don't know that last name g he of course played hockey which I believe their season starts this weekend as well so congrats to all your NHL fans um so if you consider those names yeah and those guys are part of most people's Mount Rush Moes in their chosen Sports take out the word quarterback not debating that but could you make the argument that Patrick momes is a the best athlete alive today and B is he the greatest one of all time uh it's tough for all time like Joey D had a 56 game hitting streak D Maryland morroe served our country all right 13 Allstar served our country part pretty good yeah let's me like let this level you put Jo deio separate Jo deio is like a whole another I think there's something to be said for individual sport athletes like the Michael Phelps and like Serena Williams you don't get MVPs and championships in the same sort of way the Muhammad Ali like the dominance of your sport over a certain amount of time that should be considered as well but momes right now I would say because football is such an important team sport in our culture and Society is the most like inevitable dominant athlete we have the best athlete in America today yes yes I mean what about Nikola yic I mean what SP does he put huh right yes he is I I mean it's talk argue against it but I I brought that up to show you because you know in team sports you are talking about you know Wayne Gretzky Didn't Do It N Mario Lemieux Didn't Do It Michael Jordan didn't do it LeBron didn't do it you know think about the great players you know even the current great players in baseball today none of them did it and while it's a team sport and obviously you can't do it alone if you're talking about this kid who by the way isn't 30 yet he's 28 and he's in the same conversation as Larry Bird Bill Russell Mickey Joe D Etc like it's stupid but Craig you said you said it last week before the Super Bowl he's probably the safest athlete we have in America right now meaning talking about all the distractions around him he's not the problem right like his dad his brother everybody else everybody else is a circus around him he has been since he's put his foot in cleats and Ste to the NFL you don't hear nothing about him off off thei straight straight lace people play for him he rallies he doesn't throws team underneath the uh bus he does time after time he delivers on Sunday and if you're looking for a role model like we love to point out who the role models he's he's us he's also going to be drunk as a skunk in about four or five hours I think the Parade's today right is it tomorrow pardon me tomorrow he probably Dr four five hours too as an absolute skunk now here here's the interesting thing though while he's getting his accolades or as we say today cuz we want trying to sound Hipp and cool he's getting his flowers that nonsensical thing but we all go with it anyway yeah probably right uh was it from the collective the well could have been it could have been uh in any event here's the deal there's the notion now in Kansas City because they're backwards people largely that Kansas City as a team already being uh disrespected for next year Patrick Mahomes as a player and we all disagreed the greatest player in sports today already being disrespected for next year how is that possible here are your Super Bowl 59 odds that game will be on Fox live from New Orleans next year and San Francisco who just lost and it was a thriller overtime went an extra 14 minutes but San Francisco comes back as the odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl Kansas City second then you have the Ravens the Lions and the bills is that disrespectful well no I think there some assuming that Chris Jones won't be a chief next year right I mean that's I think it assumes that when we all knew going into this Super Bowl and now that San Francisco's got more Talent well also the NFC is an easier conference to get you teams that the road that the Chiefs took to go through the Dolphins at home Road bills Road Ravens you look at what oh the they play the Packers than the lions like you know it's a conferencing to me not necessarily disrespect to the chief I think that conferencing is a big part of it and who those quarterbacks are for sure as we've talked about a lot on the show in the AFC it also tells you that again this is Vegas there no no one has an agenda here this isn't like a guy on TV gone Fu Kansas City I'm not sure who would do that but perhaps it'll happen in the h block a little bit later on today that being said it also tells you what I've been saying with my own words for the last three months Vegas is now acknowledging that Brock pie is the best quarterback in the NFC and AR say and arguably the best quarterback in all football that is now being proven to you by those guys that sit in a windowless Room 300 feet below the desert surface in Las Vegas Nevada who come up with these odds Maybe not maybe not maybe why do you feel like Vegas is giving us to not to Brock because San Francisco is the number one choice to win the Super Bowl and it's a quarterback driven league and Brock pretty is their quarterback so air air goes the thought process that that's the best quarterback in football favorite for MVP yeah is that right yeah I didn't see that one I I I didn't I did not see the MVP you know cuz who pays attention here's the real question though uh when it comes to who can knock off the Chiefs and I'm going to kind of double dip on that question at the bottom of your screen is Kyle Shanahan the coach that can knock off the chiefs no absolutely not yes no yes how do you say yes they went to overtime they were up by 10 the coach they have the most talented roster in the NFC which in my mind will put them back in the Super Bowl so like I think a lot of times people disrespect second place you know what I mean people talking about K Shanahan in the ners like it was a failed season they went to overtime in the Super Bowl they had a great season and KY Shanahan is a great coach and by the way if Jake Moody doesn't have an extra point blocked I can't say for sure they win the game the entire fourth quarter is different I can tell you that so this is my problem if you if you go back to the game one of the things that we talked about yesterday was how CMC got shut out right how that defense from the Kansas City Chiefs wouldn't let him run the ball it's been all it went viral all over social media two big plays the touchdown and the Little D talk abouto dealing with hamstring issues right you talk about George KD like you're supposed to have so much talent you're supposed to override or kind of suppress what the Chiefs did you did none of that even with the 10-point lead how am I supposed to believe next year with the lead is going to get better quarterback wise and even on offense that this Niner team is going to be where they need let me ask I got Detroit being better next year I was to say if not San Francisco if not San Francis Isco let's answer that question what team in your opinion today look we don't know about the draft yet we don't know about free agency yet we don't know about trades I know like the Eagles have told Hanan reic if you want to go find a trade go ahead and do it uh based on today yeah what we know today corre Ora what team other than San Francisco do you think right now today has the best chance to beat Kansas City I'm GNA be honest Green Bay oh no I I I I'm so close to being with you here's the Divide I think you have the right color team black what green oh you know the brothers I didn't say quarterback I said Team your knucklehead yo you want me to keep it 100 or what what yall want me to do what you J he goes black so the team that I have knocking off the Chiefs is black okay Ravens I mean we all forget it was a fluky game for their mistakes we had them as the best team in football all season long and now I'm some forgetting that it happened little black and purple there for J I got Green Bay if there was to throw the team in the NFC would be Green Bay AFC Wes for me is the Texans Texans yes cuz CJ stra year number two he's going to be money good and on top of that the Texans have the fifth highest cap space in the league so and he's black and he's black I well two great starts sometimes go of all the things I thought I was not going to hear when I said they have the right color he was serious I thought be honest I thought I was setting you up to come right down I wasn't looking at the Jersey to come right down New York Jet I was I was like my God we're on the same page he's I was looking at the jerseys I was looking at the quarterback all right let's take a quick break on that all right we got a a simmering Feud that stayed uh simmering after this Super Bowl between Fletcher Cox and Deo and we got F first and football and while Kansas City's trying to win their third straight can San Francisco get to their second consecutive Super Bowl right after this here's the beauty of getting into First & Football mid-February we're less than a month away from conference tournaments and then of course March May baseball next week we got pre-season or spring training games NBA Allstar this week we got a lot cooking what's up Allstar this week Allstar what this week NHL basketball national basketball Oh I thought the NHL didn't start yet NBA Allstar game which doesn't have the same gravitas kids obviously but we got lots of good things cooking and we'll have you covered right here on FS1 real quick there's some silly feud that's happening still between H Fletcher Cox you know Rockstar defensive lineman for the phph Eagles and Deo Samuel they've been triping at each other all year long well once San Francisco lost to Kansas City and Deo did not have a big game in the Super Bowl flexer Cox was like good time for me to continue the trash talking so uh it's all playing out on Instagram cuz that's where manly men spend their free time yeah it says uh keep Eagles uh out your mouth yeah out your mouth what does the Boe stand for B bed uh yeah yeah all right and then uh I still got some you ain't got yeah I've been holding this one in son e a d which is eat uh yeah oh I didn't know that yeah donut yeah it's a it's a sandwich it's a sandwich it's a sandwich clear it looks like pepperoni yeah in any event yeah well some are thicker than others but yeah I mean Gaba gold bra whatever you want to call it but here's the thing like I I grew up in a world where manly men don't type their feelings and put emojis on the screen and if you want to have we can at any time you want to handle our business I may lose but let's just go handle our business I'm not going to type out an emoji uh you know to to clap back at you for something you said plus flet your [ __ ] should remember something else thank you flet your [ __ ] is been in the league since 2012 facts all right how long did it take Fletcher Cox to win that Super Bowl with the Eagles he didn't do it in his first five years Al they they limped into the playoffs and got waxed by the Bucks corre and this guy just he's still got his uniform on from the Super Bowl loss in overtime and he's got to look at his phone and hear this yeah so I'm with you on all that stuff but like slow year old dude like you just lost the Tampa you you 32 to9 by the way it took you a decade to win your Super Bowl Giants and if you ask any team in football today if they get out Fletcher Cox today and I recognize he's a six-time pro bowler and had a very good career or Deo Samuel every team in America is taking Deo Samuel yeah but I keep in honey talk trash to somebody in your weight class also true you know what I mean like like you talking about a receiver who you can't catch by the way so like at the end of the day you weren't at the Super Bowl you got blown out by the Bucks you talk about 32 to9 you finished as of the worst defenses in the NFL you had a one and a six skid right and you you talk about being a leader and a captain on your team like if if I'm on this def I wanted his homie I'm like man put the phone down yeah especially because embarrassing Deo Samuel made it to the Super Bowl 100% you guys imploded and lost to Baker Mayfield but I've I've always felt uncomfortable when grow men send you like emojis yeah like one of my dear friends in the world is the manager of the New York Yankees Aaron boom and he fists me all the time and it's like what are you doing yeah every whenever we text he gives me the fist at the end of every single text back in Forth but you can fly back though of course wow I'm lonely but it's a weird thing I'm like you're a grown man why are you fisting me right uh and he can't help but I get to fist uh every single time that guy texts me I'm like is this uncomfortable being fisted like that in any event uh baseballs around the corner the New York AES are going to win the World Series this year they will play the LA Dodgers in that World Series but that's just an early prediction for you job's here he's got first and Football let's go first of football we start with Andy Reid there were some weird Rumblings and rumors that were kind of pazy about him potentially retiring after the Super Bowl guess what he's coming back he wants to get a three p what does Andy Reed's return mean for this budding Dynasty well it means that the dynasty continues it rolls on it means that if you're the Chargers if you're obviously the Raiders if you're the Denver Broncos it's not just another year of Patrick Mahomes it's another year of that exact offense that you guys have had a tough time stopping over the better part over the last six years with Patty Mahomes as a starting quarterback the story supposedly goes that if they lost the Super Bowl he might have decided hang it up but the fact that they won it and now you're chasing history something that has never been done before which is the threee that you just alluded to you have to come back because at the end of the day bill belch's got everybody when it comes to Rings y all right and that's look Andy Reid may very well get there but he may not just based on age and Circumstance and wherever else but the one thing Bill belchic never did the one thing Bill Walsh never did the one thing Chuck null never did the one thing Vince Lombardi never did was win three in a row and when you're chasing that type of history that history makes you an immortal when it comes to the way we talk about the great leaders and coaches or players in the history of the NFL so I think that's the power of we need you to come back why wouldn't you want to come back not that the job's easy but you got 15 playing quarterback for you which makes up for a lot of deficiencies you might have you come back to become an immortal yeah two things and you have a defense that is younger and can back you up too that can back 15 up we talk about the year they had defensively for the Chiefs however also you also got to understand Andy re's a third highest paid coach in his division yeah I don't think it's about money though I know but I know it's always about money but in this case I don't think it's about money but if he used to tickle the pig give him some money sure so if if I'm at the end of the day like you talking about when he won his first fo ball that's when he got his contract extension he has two more years left but if I if you want Andy Reid and you want Patrick Mahomes for the next you know six or seven years put some in this and here's the thing you have sea pton making $18 million a year in Denver you've got Jim Harbaugh now out in LA with the Chargers making I think 16 million a year so if you're and Bill belrick by the way was making 2020 million a year they're the three highest paid guys in the NFL bel's out now so now it's Sean pyton and Hardwell one and two if you're Andy Reid ain't that a blank check don't doesn't the hunt family say just fill it in whatever it is it is yeah right and you reward him especially after Super Bowl win make him happy pay him right not only Super Bowl win they won with a play called corn dog which I know CU he likes to eat them right surprised they have a play called Big Mac moving on Stu they do moving on to second football Big Mac mean and Christian mcaffrey spoke about the impact of the Super Bowl loss and here is a sad running back yeah it hurts uh hurts deep you know it's something that dream about as a kid you you've worked so hard for all year and come up short um I think you just have to go through all the emotions as they come but you know each day just chip away at getting back to getting back to normal I don't know how long it's going to take so do you think a loss like this can provide motivation that makes them more likely to come back and I don't know about motivation I think that's more for kids uh you know even College athletes I don't think at this level you need to be extra motivated I I would question a player if he needed extra motivation um but look you know if you've ever lost the Super Bowl you have you know you can speak to it we can't how long if ever do you get over the loss you don't get over it but you do become anxious right because you know the feeling you know what it feels like and especially you feel like you're stting to climb the lad during the regular season like man we got a chance to go back the issue is keeping everybody on the same page what happens is and you know when you start winning and things go your way guys get distracted because more opportunities come your way so now you're talking about team Val they lost two Super Bowls they pretty much got everybody coming back right so how do you keep the same guys motivated and willing to attack it again and I think for Christian mcaffrey as you know especially you know he fumbled to open the Drive of that game did I'm sure that's going to burn that you know when he's at his pool with his beautiful girlfriend he's looking over you know into the mountains he's like dang I fumbled it yeah I think the other side of it is this also you know they have one guy bigname guy that's not signed that's Chase young and based on how he played towards the end of the season that's a very difficult decision CU what are you really going to get and how much money can you guarantee Chase young based on how he played every other main Cog in that offense and defense are all under contract every one of them uh the other thing is you can't forget when Christian mcaffrey became a Niner he's been a Niner for a year and a half so year one you go to the NFC Championship Game obviously the injury to Brock pry and that's where that Journey ends year two you not only get to the Super Bowl you go into overtime and extend overtime damn near the full 15 minutes and lose to the best player in history right not quarterback player in history right so the evolution makes sense to me championship game lost Super Bowl loss what's the next step Super Bowl and win and consider as much as we talk about Kansas City and rightfully so yeah if San Francisco goes back next year or even gets to the NFC Championship Game that'll be five out of six yeah you are talking about dominance without the payoff right I mean that's exactly where you'd be yeah but you still got to win and the thing about it this falls on Shannahan too because as much as we you know want to give much flowers for lead aring there you got to win it and you talk about schematically being up double digits and having another catastrophic loss uh like you did in 2020 at this point as much as you want to you know Harbor these feelings you got to figure out what what's the what's why you stubbing your toe what's happened in this game that you cuz I watched the chief's defense in that second half they did everything right they played fast they played physical they thought they can attack the edge they weren't able to get there I don't think I don't think he he takes any of the blame for them losing the Super Bowl I don't think he made a coaching decision that didn't go right I think they ran the ball as best they could I think uh you know George KD could have been more involved yeah I think that's fair to say but if you look at George KD throughout this entire year he would go three four games at a time with no catches uh so that's kind of how that offense worked I do not think this came down to him being out coached I really don't no moving on to Third and football this is interesting after dominating the Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs Jordan love went on mik cap Parson's podcast mik Parson straight up asked him what was your game plan beat us and here's what he had to say quote just going against y'all I'm not trying to talk trash but y'all linebackers I think youall had a defensive back playing linebacker that was our goal to run the ball that was going to set everything else up what do you think about Jordan love going on Michel Parson's podcast and Michael Parsons asking him why they beat us and him providing an answer and is Michael Parson's podcast a problem for the Cowboys um maybe but not in the off season it's not but I love the fact that Jordan love went on and was honest can't with like I think that's great uh I think you want I want more of that and I'm not a big fan of Mike's podcast cuz I think youo you should concentrate on being the best football player during the season after the season you do a podcast every day I'm in I just don't want to hear it during the season especially when you haven't lived up to your expectations as arguably the greatest defensive player by your own account in the league but from Jordan love I would just say this my man you had a good year you came on strong l and I I respect the development from week 11 on you're a top five quarterback statistically in the NFL you went into Dallas and beat a team that had won 16 I think or 17 consecutive games I love it peacock you also through the interception that cost you the division round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers maybe now's not the time to be going on podcast and peacocking but he he was asked question right like Mike asked him like hey what was it that you know what was your Edge going into the game that you guys dominated he was like we ran the ball and if you knew anything about Green Bay's office line they're top five like they got the a lot of big he I'm saying is Jordan love you ain't done nothing yet but there's a reason why D doesn't have a job scheme didn't work all I'm saying is you're Jordan love you're not Patrick mahom I don't think it's indictment on Jordan love I think it's the Cowboys Like You drafted Moy Smith you made him lose weight because he could get to the passer and then when he lost the weight he couldn't defend the run but then you have Jerry Jones the owner come out and say hey well we need mousy Smith to step up the kids are rookie weights going up and down like a ping pong like you're hurting them so you can stop you cann't stop the run and there you go we got much more football coming right much more from a Super Bowl 58 did Brock prie call Sam Fran the Super Bowl he spoke on that and this is why he's recognize Kobe Bryant for all of his contributions to kids like myself encouraging them to be the best that they can be but also to not forget about your community Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa did so much work in so many ways through their Foundation every day he wanted to make a difference I can't thank him enough for the impact that he's had on me thank you Kobe Bryant for everything you've done for us and everything you did for us while you were here obviously throughout the entire month of February everybody here at e woman will be honoring uh the legacy of African-Americans who uh paved a path that was very difficult to pave and made uh contributions that last many generations that's shobi that's Willie colar in about 15 minutes plao buris is going to join he of course knows what it's like to win a Super Bowl as well uh Brock pie uh quarterback San Francisco at the podium after the Super Bowl talking about how it's his responsibility he let the team down here's Brock pie talking about his performance in Super Bowl 58 go ahead I got to be better um in terms of you know leading the guys and and just you know how think how I handle things in the Huddle and tell them telling them you know what to expect stuff like that so um but yeah at the end of the day I think we had the team the offense to to score touchdowns and I think I failed to put our team in position to do that yeah that's why he's loved in that locker room he takes theonas as uh most leaders do and quarterbacks do to be fair though they did not lose the Super Bowl because of Brock P's performance and you know the play we showed a lot yesterday where it's a third down play prior to the uh the field goal in overtime when he's got a wide open Debo when the defensive back fell down and he's looking at Jennings on the right side right near the pylon you know I I went back and I watched that again a couple times yesterday I know why we want to talk about the great job Chris Jones did and getting past that offensive line and getting in his face very quickly not a single reporter not a single article not a single talk show host has called out the lineman on San Francisco who didn't do his job no one has so we all talk about well Brock P didn't get to throw off in time and he overthrew Jennings and he never has time to look to his left of he does he's got D.A for an easy touchdown we could have made that pass and we give all the uh accolades rightfully so you know to Chris Jones for making a difference in the biggest spot kind of like Aaron Donald did to Joe burrow you know three years ago and we've seen Chris Jones do many times but I went back and watched it I'm saying to myself which guard or the center messed up their assignment or didn't do enough to block Chris Jones from getting to Brock pie to give him the extra second he needed to win the game yeah the bottom line is Chris Jones even said himself he goes yeah I just went unblocked the guard over me slid down pick up a blitz had had nothing to do right why is that guard nameless like if CU here's what we like to do we like to you know cast blame we like to give credit to those who win and blame somebody for the loss Brock pie should not be blamed for the loss what's the guy's name what's the guard St that pulled to his left and costus Brock pie the precious extra second needed to make the is it likely that the Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl next year I don't know if it's likely obviously they're going to be one of the teams we're all going to pick to make a run there I like what he said there though as he called Tom Brady the greatest of all time so you know that should end that debate for those of you that want to have it but you I kind of view winning championships and he's kind of alluding to it and just allow me it's kind of like sex right I like it like once you have it you want to have a lot more of it if you're good at it even if you stink at you want to keep doing it and keep doing it and you hope that it's available to you uh for you know for a long time in your life well that's kind of like winning a championship the difference of course is that you may find yourself chasing the championship the rest of your careers because it's not totally in your control sex of course is a lot different uh but I get it like once you've done it I I got to imagine you know not making the playoffs losing a playoff game Etc in comparison to how you felt when you guys walked off the field as Champions is probably Indescribable yeah I I think for me when you win the Super Bowl it's not just about the hting the Lombard it's the journey getting there that that was for me cuz what we had to get through the people we had to do it with and the guys I I know from my offensive line I remember was it week four week three we gave up nine we gave up nine sacks against the Philadelphia Eagles oops and we got dragged even after that game cuz we had we got dragged during that game we had to turn around play Baltimore the next week we beat Baltimore the next week and then I remember literally going into the playoffs cuz we like the number we like I forgot what I record was but we were up there and I remember reading the paper and it said if the Steelers make if Steelers don't make the Super Bowl it's solely going to be because of this group being the offensive line and it was a big picture of us standing in the Huddle Ben wasn't in the Huddle it was just us kind of looking if the Steelers don't make the Super Bowl is because of these guys and that's why at the end we we won our Super Bowl and you hear Ben say Who's Laughing Now offensive line it was it was an indictment to that because our defense was great everything was great it was that offens line that was the big problem how about VI I mean obviously I've never lost a Super Bowl but I did uh you know lose two AFC championship games to the New England Pat I thought that was the worst game you ever could have possibly lost but now you know when you get to the Super Bowl you it's still a game to be played and this the game to be won I can imagine what those guys are going through from emotional standpoint after losing that game after everybody was saying that they were the best team and football all year long and will and Willie knows this there's no guarantee that you're ever going to get back and that's that's what Dan Campell said yeah there's no you know you try to reciprocate what you did the year before to get back but there's no guarantee that you're going to play ever play Force yeah the good news for them is because the NFC and I use this word Loosely it's an easier trip to try to get to than the AFC is just because of the amount of great quarterbacks in the AFC and I recognize it's not easy so maybe it's aort choice of words s Fran comes back loaded I mean the only guy not under contract of real note is Chase young and based about how he played at the end of the season I think BR auk is a also I think he's under contract but I I think it's it's a negotiable deal it's a fifth year option deal so they do have to do his deal at some point but you know they can control his rights uh for this year and I'm not sure if they bring Chase young back based on how he played in the amount of money that a he's going to want and B someone else most likely is going to give to him uh auk as of right now just to follow up on you uh is a fifth year option player so he is under contract but look doesn't mean he's not going to hold out doesn't mean he's not going to want to get you know the big contract that we all agree he deserves but they got that entire core under contract coming back next year so to me I could see them making a change believe it or not with their defensive coordinator that would not Shock Me the way they played against Green Bay Detroit in the postseason and now Shannon threw wils under the bus you know uh towards the end of the season but you know why wouldn't you think that Kansas City on the AFC side and San Fran on the NFC side are both favorites in their conferences to make a return pre-draft pre-f free agency and all the other things that are going to happen they got to be the favorites I I got to pump my breaks on the Kansas City Chiefs being the favorites to go through this AFC because they were underdogs against the bills they were underdogs against the Ravens and they were underdogs in the Super Bowl and they had stretches of the regular season where we sat right here at this desk and seriously doubted just their ability to win a game in the playoffs I was there too I was there too I was I I would say this you know they clearly shouldn't have been Underdog in those games so that's a Vagas thing and that's you know try to get people to gamble on both sides and all that but look I think everybody learned a valuable lesson that while yes they are going to lose some big games at some point during his career cuz that's what happens I don't care how good you are that right now in the moment you don't bet against Patrick Mahomes in a big spot you just don't do it it's not even about betting against him it's the fact that he seems to have a knack for big games right like you trust the ball in his hands you talking about going to Buffalo and beating Buffalo you talking about going into Baltimore think about how we all talk leading into that Baltimore game yeah let me give you the best example of momes just came to me and I know we don't have it so just walked me in this there was a playing the game where he's in the pocket and he he wants to go deep in the worst way and he double clutched and even Romo said if he throws that ball might get picked and he checked it down and I forget they gain like five six seven yards and advanced you know to the next down that's the difference Josh Allen unloads it maybe gets picked right Tua in that game unloads it maybe gets pick and even I'd say Brock pie might have unloaded it and maybe it gets picked like Lamar in that game unloads it it gets pick that subtle little difference of not letting that ball go and double clutching and then checking down in the moment is why he's special and also him using his legs in that game like there's some we showed it yesterday some of those runs with him just he could have slid he did a lot of things he just dropped his shoulders said I'm getting the first di time after time that's what propelled him to that win moving on to the next element of this game which has been much discussed which is the overtime rules and the decision to receive the ball rather than kick it from KY Shanahan some players on the 49ers were asked if they knew the playoff overtime rules and here is what they had to say I didn't even know about the new overtime uh playoff overtime rule so it was a surprise to me um yeah I didn't even really even know what was going on in terms of that you know what I didn't even realize that the the playoff rules were different and overtime so I I assumed you just want the ball cuz you score a touchdown and win but I guess that's not the case so Craig is this an indication of poor preparation from the for who cares if the players knew or not they don't need to know like why are you making a big deal about this coach John came out after the game and said we went through it we knew exactly what the rules were we looked at it from an analytical standpoint I don't care if Eric Armstead knows the rule or not it doesn't matter you don't have to know the rule and here's why I'm giving you a play execute the play doesn't matter what the overtime rule is it matters if the coaching staff knows the rule it doesn't matter if you guys know the rule you guys are robots you know what that's an indictment on hey that's an indictment on KY Shanahan 100% for him to get on the podium after the game and say you know what we went over this with the guys in a meeting and for the players to get on the podium after the Super Bowl and say we didn't even understand the r he said the coaching staff knows this you go over every particular situation that that that may arise in a football game some of is petty some of is tedious but we have seen that listen countless things happened during uh during a football game that's right and now this comes up and now the coach flips the page to that particular situation that's going on you know what we have plays for for overtime against Kansas City what kind of defense is they going to be running just like two-point plays we went run or two two-point plays during the week you know we say we're not going to use them we won it one time during the week maybe on a Thursday or Friday and that and that situation that comes to us on Sunday and we got to remember the play from three or four days that we ran because we only ran it once right but there but this wasn't I get that on two-point conversion it's a specialty play I get that and you may not talking much the rules but you don't need to know the rules it's it's like we restarted the game as long as the coach L yeah I don't even think this is hold you you play with a different level in overtime in the Super Bowl than you did in the fourth quarter like knowing that you're not going to be uh knowing that you're going the ball back so now if you're if you're but how does it change how you play if you're the defense for the San Francisco 49ers you tell yourself you know what if they go down and score and maybe we get the ball back you're getting the ball back you don't need to know what's going on no you're not hold on so you're not getting the ball back because they don't know the rules so on defense you're not going to make a tackle you are going to make a tackle based on what the rules young disappointment that's a different story like the coach needs to know the rules the coordinators need to know the rules and I'm with you on that and Kyle Shannon said after the game we knew the rule we talked about it from an analytical standpoint and we made the decision because if we're tied we want the sudden death possession which would have been the Third third possession of the game you guys don't need to know that first you do need to know you should block and you should get open first go ahead just as a contrast let's listen to Chris Jones of the Chiefs discuss this very same topic here's Chris Jones two weeks for two weeks we talked about the new overtime Rule and how we was going to um get the ball to the opponent if we um if they scored we was going for two at the end of the game we kind of rehearsed that and um yeah they touched about for two weeks they had a plan they had a they had a plan so what but at the end of the day the point is you don't need to know it cost them a superow did not it's po one it's a poor sign of preparation two if you're Eric Armstead how about you pay attention to meetings just say you weren't paying attention want to be that guy but I was going to say it's hard for me to believe Kyle Shanahan didn't prepare him or they didn't know the rules like every arm say he found he said he found out the rules sitting on the bench at a l Stadium looking at the jumbo truck like if if we could keep it real and as you say keep it a buck keep it a hundy on this show no one says that I can't speak for you but I know my guy right there you would have been sleeping during that meeting no absolutely matter I'm going get open so it don't matter to me I'm I'm I'm a ice let's go home right like notorious non practicer over hey know that was by the though so look I do think the coaches have obvious needs to be aware they said they were I take them at face value and whether arms said new or not immaterial has nothing to do with them losing the Super Bowl here's the problem we're again and I hate when people do this we're trying to find something to blame Shanahan for because we're trying to figure out why he can't win a Super Bowl Shanahan did nothing wrong and I appreciate why they took the ball first their defense had been shredded at the end of the fourth quarter and you know full well if you put that defense on the field you saw what going to happen Kansas City is going to score a touchdown so now you're putting your offense back on the field after sitting for about maybe 12 15 minutes in real time and saying now you got to go score a touchdown I have no you put your defense on but but this is this daunted defense that everybody's been talking about all season how great they are how good they are I don't want to talk about fatigue and but over time how tired they yeah but over time preparation a lot of that goes down on the on the coordinators too like your offens coordinated prep you on that too it's not just on Shanah your defensive coordinated prep but here's the thing let's pretend you knew and you didn't know playbo s yeah is it going to change how you block no but it you don't need to know you're talking about situational football so you do need to know certain situations what's allow not the coach calls a play the quarterback tells you the play run the play like whether you know or not what the rule is it doesn't change how you try to execute the play that you get in the Huddle you you guys don't need to know it changes your game coaches coaches well the coach said he was well aware which is why they took the ball first like he made a conscious decision if we win the toss in overtime we are taking the ball and I'm sure he told Fred Warner playing against that guy he told Fred Warner if you win the toss we want the ball cuz analytics say we want the third possession if there is analytics are not Patrick mahom you guys are crazy you're crazy crazy you guys are all crazy you're driving me CRA your stance is basically like if you get a play call execute that play So they shouldn't have a scoreboard how about this Kansas City won the game because Patrick Mahomes is the best football player on the planet they didn't win the game because Kyle Shanahan decided to take the ball first in overtime some things stop playing Shanah I know you guys don't like him and he's an easy target cuz he's been to big games and lost and blown double digit leads in every single super bow he's been a coaching and that's all well and good three matter it's not well and good but now you're creating a reason to be critical of the guy and it's just it's stupid it's not it's dumb it's not and here's the here's the thing and I and be honest no lying on the show when they took the ball and started marching down the field did either of you any of you three guys go I can't believe you took the ball absolutely oh you're out of your mind I I I wanted to take the ball I can't believe you going to give to Patrick Mahomes the ball to end the game that's what I what you just say wanted cuz I wanted to put so you agreed with the decision so you're out but we're not talking about decision we're talking about the preparation understanding the rules like you think about the situations for those you talk about Eric AR you said both guys who started on that team for them not s for them he said we're going score touch to win the game right like they thought it was college rules so what it doesn't change how you play they already knew they already had a game plan you heard Patrick Mahomes uh you know uh interview after the game say we were going for two they getting the ball back that already been discussed that was that was the plan going into overtime just cuz they say it doesn't mean just like just like coach team Mike toml or Tom coach Tom C coach team you would never hear those guys say something like that well maybe not not something to be upset about you saying I I thought that we would score a touchdown and win the game that's why we wanted the ball that's a little embarrassing even me on my couch even me on my couch I the overtime rules since Theos all Pat 13 second game they changed the rules it it was it's a big news story do matter you play in the NFL would you know how overtime structured actually we've seen in sports historically guys don't know all the rules so he actually thought if they went down and scored a touchdown so he would have scored he would like they won the Super bow and here's the deal he's a fullback he would have not buy to sell yeah he would have been dancing and guess what and then he would have sat on the bench where he belongs cuz now the defense is on the field I can't believe that you don't understand the magnitude of of that to CU it's funny I go back to I go back to a day you guys might remember it where Donan McNab had no idea what the rules of overtime were you remember that and by the way who was his head coach oh that's right he was Andy Reed what a terrible head coach he didn't tell Donovan McNab what the overtime rules were 10 years ago hey you know what Happ L he lost that damn Super Bowl I I can I can admit this I bet you guys won't I had no idea that if it got down to zero they could just keep going I didn't had no idea I was like down Zer you just keep going second quar that's call you guys Sports an say some sports shows don't do their homework right and here's the deal you didn't need to know the rule either just like you moving on we have some interesting information from Dallas they have officially hired Mike Zimmer as the defensive coordinator however there was some back and forth yesterday about whether or not Rex Ryan was still up for the position including some words from Ryan himself Craig what does this confusion tell you about the state of things Jerry Jones loved Rex Ryan wanted to hire Rex Ryan and Rex Ryan asked for a contract that Jared Jones didn't want to give him and that's the fact uh it was the length of the contract the amount of money of the contract that they have set aside for the defensive coordinator job I'm not saying that Mike's getting the same maybe Mike's getting less than what Rex was going to get but it this was a a money a contract issue uh Jarry Jones loved him Jarry Jones wanted to H was willing to hire him I should say because if he wanted to he would have was willing to hire him Rex has even said there's only a handful of jobs that he would come out of broadcasting for to be a coordinator uh maybe different to be a head coach and Dallas is one of them because the talent is there to have a lot of success but when you're making a few million bucks on TV and a defensive coordinator job at best pays you a few million bucks and your head coach is making about6 to7 million how much money are you really going to give your defensive coordinator without completely you know rendering your head coach you know uh powerless which is what you'd be doing if you gave Rex the type of contract he apparently was looking for so at the end of the day they made a difficult decision we're not going to agree on a deal so you're not going to be our defensive coordinator and I was told that's all this is about so Mike Zimmer was not the First Choice he was the second choice and now he's the defensive coordinator I know guys like Greg who know Mike well adore him and a lot of the players love playing for Mike Zimmer so I don't want to take shots at Mike he's had success in the NFL as a coordinator but Rex Ryan was the right hire for me uh because of the personality because of his success obviously and because they are a talented defense on paper and I thought he would really Goose uh that entire franchise on the defensive side of things but it came down like most deals do yo here's what we got here's what I want can we figure it out and in this case they couldn't yeah I mean the last time we saw Mike Zimmer do anything he was a consultant down in Jackson State with Dion and him down 2022 now he's want to get back in League I feel like he was more hungry but I understand Rex saying I'm not taking a pay cut right I I I know who I am know what my represent my resume represents I think if you Mike Zimmer you also got to understand like he's been in the building before he knows Jerry he had success there when he was a viking he had a top five defense so overall man this defense schematically needs an overhaul what does that look like I think you got to get bigger up front you got to get more athletic on the back end Stephen gims or Stephan gim excuse me a shell of himself and understand you got Bland and G Diggs coming back so and you got to figure out what's going on with your linebacker Court he can do that he's a well thought of Coach he doesn't make anybody moist down in Dallas that they got him Rex Ryan would have um so you're not getting an incompetent guy or an unproven guy you're getting a guy with legitimate NFL resume that you could put up against most guys I just think Rex is different yeah I don't know Mike zimma I've never had the opportunity to play for him but I did play for Rex obviously in 2011 with Willie with the New York Jets but it just seems to me that he brings a different kind of you know animation and motivation to the team and to the defense especially when you have a premier Talent like a uh Michael Parson who with all these different blitzes that Rex likes to design putting guys in different situations to get Michael Parsons in these one-on-one situations on defense I thought that he was like the F perfect fit but I'm looking at Rex and saying that you looking at you talked about the contract and how long it was and how much how much money it would be paid I I personally think that the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator job is a one-year job I mean I really do because Mike McCarthy because if Mike McCarthy goes then what is Jared Jones going to do is he going to uh is that coach coming in if he doesn't make Mike Zim the head coach is he going to be the defensive coordinator the following year so I think that's one of the reasons why they had a problem you know hiring a defensive coordin think for rexas is what it's been is it 6 years now since he was a coach uh in the NFL with the bills so eight years so you know there also comes a point where while you're highly regarded you've now been away from the game as a coach for almost a full decade now where if the idea is to get back into coaching and get one more crack at it and maybe even one day become a head coach again you know it's very rare I don't know if it's ever happened where guy's out for 11 or 12 years and suddenly comes back this might have been Rex's last shot I don't think that changes I don't think that hurts Rex Ryan at all being out that long because the you know the he for thison but now his name's going to be circulated again because it's obvious that he's willing to come back out of the TV Booth or do we call it that still stud we call Studio Studio boys TV Booth like what's going on nobody watches anyway um coming up uh our weekly Edition although some called yeah but and is there any team or is a specific team out there that we can all agree on highly unlikely that is going to challenge the Kansas City Chiefs I can tell you this I believe there's a team and I believe their color is Yeah, But green if it looks like I'm sweating I'm not uh it is a revealed in April of 2024 which is a month and a half away or so so 123 million Americans are glued to the TV because Super Bowl 58 is in overtime and Kansas City's marching to win their third Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid the New York Jets are announcing new uniforms which is why we like to sing a little song here it's just the same old Jets it's just the same old Jets I mean the most tonee what I want to know is this did they actually pay for that slot to announce that they were going to have I think you're alled to treat that wasn't a commercial yeah no woody a't they did not buy a Super Bowl commercial but but are you surprised though but he wanted the world to know we got new uniform not announc the you new uniforms we're announcing the announcement in two months yeah and by the way this has been out there for months that they were going to bring back the 1980 style or whatever it might be but that's that's the New York Jets too I know we just put up Super Bowl odds I didn't see the Jets on there they'll have to fix that it's a fesi list if the New York Jets are not on it but speaking of that list here's what's interesting Kansas City is bringing most of their guys back Chris Jones is the big question mark contractually mom is coming back we assume kelse is coming back go for the three p and re announced yesterday he's coming back but they are not the favorites to win the Super Bowl San Francisco with the legend of Brock pie are the favorites right now to win superbow 59 I mean listen I expect I I expect uh the 49ers to grow from this obviously per is going to continue to get better he's going to be a better quarterback next year but just you know going into that Following season coming off coming off of Super Bowl loss or AFC Championship loss NFC Championship loss or whatever the case may be you have to find a way to get that motivation you know back going again because know where does Brock p and Kyle Shanahan go from here they have to win the division they have to make a Deep Run in the playoffs and hopefully get back to the Super Bowl so I'm just saying for them the the only way up for them is to get back to the Super Bowl and actually win it right it's like a step lter they got to the championship game they lost to the eagles they got to the championship game they won it they got to the Super Bowl they're now in the Super Bowl and obviously a classic they lose in over time so they represented themselves obviously very well they didn't get blown out but there's only one step left and that is be the one seat again have home field again get to the Super Bowl again and this time finish the journey because if they don't then you start talking about them in the same kind of terms we talk about the Buffalo Bills and other teams that have been good enough to be right there uh and just not good enough to overcome either a particular player or a particular team you I remember when I lived in Cleveland you know the Cavaliers were one of the best basketball teams you know of the generation with Mark Price and Brad Dy and Craig Elo and they you know usually the two seed behind the Bulls and they couldn't get past Chicago our Knicks couldn't get past Chicago in the NFL you had the bills four straight AFC Championship game wins four straight Super Bowls couldn't get over the hump and beat the Dallas Cowboys or at the time the Washington Redskins right now you've got a team that has gone to what four championship games in the last five years right two Super Bowls and they're just not quite good enough to overcome at least in this case Kansas City the two Super Bowl losses were both to Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City yeah for me I for the NFC side I think it's the lions in Green Bay as I mentioned earlier but I think the Lions getting Ben Johnson back I think Aaron Glenn came back that defense is going to be better and by the way if you Detroit Lions with Hassan reick up for contract go get another pass rusher he's going to complete the other side of that def the you know cap off next to it's weird cuz I I total respect for what the Lions did Total respect and there's no reason to think that they're not a playoff team next year because they're all coming back and the whole coaching staff is coming back but man I think Dan Campbell had it right like this might have been for this group of guys last year going to the NFC championship game no guarantee you get there and on the AFC side you know keep Kansas City aside cuz they're special obviously when I think about the bills and when I think about the Ravens specifically here's the issues I think those two teams have they're clearly playoff teams I'm not arguing that but you do have Aaron Rodgers coming into the afcs Assuming he's healthy that is an issue you have another year Mike McDaniel with Tua down in Florida and obviously there's cap hell and buffalo so they're going to have some situations with contracts and who comes back and who doesn't come back obviously they were Litter with injuries as well and from a raven standpoint best team in the AFC this year number one seed MVP at quarterback but Joe burrow also has hurt the majority of this year and he comes back DeShaun Watson comes back for the Cleveland Browns and they were a playoff team Pittsburgh maybe they're better who knows who their quarterback is so while yes I think we'd all agree you still got to beat the Baltimore Ravens the reality is that I can't guarantee you today that the Baltimore Ravens win their division I think they're a playoff team but that's why I told you earlier about CJ Stout I think the Texans considering that they young with Dem ryes that defense what CJ st's going to look like in his second year the fact they got the fifth highest uh cap space in the league they're going to bring in more players they're going I went besides the Texas land in the AFC Championship next year honestly do I think they're young hungry and what what they showed this year they can make for minute cuz we all love with CJ strad and Ryan did but the flip side if I'm going to be fair and say hey look Baltimore don't slot them in as a as a Division champion yet because of the quarterbacks that are coming back you could also make an argument that you know Trevor Lawrence has in a huge year for his career after regressing last year with Jacksonville and who knows what Anthony Richards Richardson is going to now do he only played what a little less than half the season for Indy this past year and the Colts were a win away from getting into the playoffs so this is why we talk about the AFC being a gauntlet Plus in the AFC West where Kansas City's now on eight consecutive divisions you do have JM Harbaugh entering the AFC West with the charges you do have year two of Shawn pyton in Denver like you have Antonio Pierce after a great interim coaching job in Las Vegas questions a quarterback for sure but did a great job with the Raiders so when you start looking at the AFC if we all agree Kansas City is still special yep and they're still over here oh my God like the competition to get to the Super Bowl there's a better shot obviously that's not a knock that Kansas City doesn't get back to a Super Bowl then they do but look at the competition we're talking about uh versus the AFC versus the NFC we just ran off maybe six or seven teams in the AFC that can get to the championship game I'm I'm going just put the Cleveland Browns out there because I think I think that defensively have probably have the best defensive football next year we don't know what they're going to do with Joe flacko in their quarterback situation anybody in that division can win the AFC North and when you look at the NFC versus the AFC all season long everybody was saying you know Baltimore is the cream of the crop but in the back of your mind you know Kansas City is still sitting there nobody just going to throw them away and say that they're finished but if you look at the NFC it was always the whole entire season it was Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers and then when uh the Eagles lost that five out of six or what ever the case may be there was that was one team in the NFC that reign supreme and it was like well the San Francisco 49ers are just going to walk the dog into the into the Super Bowl because there was nobody I could compete with Y and it's going to be the same thing next year I mean you expect re to be better cuz youo Jordan love he's a real quarterback obviously Detroit comes back but you know if I if I I I put it this way right now today outside of having a PR celebrating a Super Bowl when I look towards next season I'd rather be San Francisco than Kansas I I can say right now I I can see that K I can say that the San Francisco 49 is a be back in the NFC champion why did you say that I'll explain off the air all right coming up uh not coming up we're going to do it right now why not allthough sudden we like to call yeah but yeah the Kansas City Chiefs won their third super low in five years and yeah they've got Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reed coming back but there's still three as the AFC it's just harder road to get to the Super Bowl in the AFC and I don't want to be that guy cuz I'm already at war with the city and the people of Kansas City they don't like but I tell you right now Kansas City is not in next year's Super Bowl that's easy to say I'm not going to I think we all agreed to that man by the way that's not much of a ledge to go on got that they're going to win the division in the AFC West not an my guy get in that event number three for you yeah the NFL season is over and yeah our Jets once again didn't win the Super Bowl free agency starts in a month the draft is 2 months away and starts right after it's not over it's not over bring it back oh the combin in two weeks can can we at least get a week at least a week and by the way the NFL draft this year is in Motown Michigan which means theft will be up at the end of April how about that D okay number four here we go yeah the super was the most watched television program of all time and yeah they claim more people watch that than watch the moon landing back in 69 but the real big news is that the New York Jets of New Jersey oh New Jersey in New Jersey New Jersey White legacy white you know what it was the most watch Super Bowl of all time but it was a it was a least attended Super Bowl because of probably the ticket price yes very very expensive that's correct uh that's correct I have video of it if you guys want to show that real quick quick uh the streakers were taken into custody uh you get fined they hold you for 24 hours and then they let you go it's like a trespassing type charge uh the pictures though afterwards I think we have those as well yeah there you go boy yeah dude got no top on the whole bit uh here's the deal though uh one of the guys came out afterwards and said the reason he went out the streaking was not to make some kind of like societal message or to protest the Super Bowl or some kind of nonsense it's that there was a casino in Las Vegas that uh set odds as to whether or not there would be a Super Bowl Streaker so the guy claimed that he had a chance to win $20,000 by betting on the the yes there would be a Streaker during the Super Bowl so he bought a $110,000 ticket to the game he ran on the field he wins 20 grand he Nets out of 10 spent the night in the Pokey and now he's good to go he's $10,000 wealthier well at least he had a plan cuz that's my biggest issue with the streakers like what's your plan cuz eventually you got to get caught yeah even he had a plan yeah even this guy even had a plan yeah I like it he's alluding to the fact that San Francisco should have used rules now if this has happening in the past and the last time it happened the uh Casino in Vegas didn't pay out and they said that there was a cap on how much you're allowed to wager and you can't play a role in the streaking happening so this guy claimed he made his 20 grand that's so here's my problem with his plan I like this plan don't tell us about the plan well that's the problem you foiled your own plan just keep your mouth shut get your 20 grand and everything's fine but now now we're talking about on the Cardon show they're not going to pay you and not just that they've got the guys you know picture and that guy's now black balled and banned from every casino in Las Vegas and if he did collect the money which he possibly did and now he's netted out plus 10,000 bucks uh that's all he'll never walk into take a pants off but if that's if Las Vegas casino then why would you even put that bet out there right if now you're going to B nor they put crazy bets out there but they so the fact that this guy claims that he was able to put 20 dimes gam ter 20 th pardon me $20,000 on the game it's just what he's saying but it makes sense like do the math if uh I'm a lot guarantee to make 10 G's who wouldn't do it notless somebody beat him to it that's also true down imagine the guy lost money doing it he's the sucker in like in uh you poke County Jail sitting there going I had a great plan why would have tripped and never made it Al great anyhow uh real quick let's get the first of football on Jobe go Ahad some really interesting sound from leg jerus sne of the Chiefs he had this to say about their defensive game plan against the ners and I quote we knew what they were going to try to do we just wanted Brock to throw the ball Craig what do you think about Sneed and the entire defense saying we were challenging Brock py to throw the ball well you didn't work is this not what I last it didn't work it wasn't like Brock had a bad game last week but yo but that's not what they did they focused on stopping Christian MF they took away Brock P's first option and when they gave him different pressures they they they they blissing what 35% of the time in the first half he got to the second half he kept giving him multiple looks he Bliss him 50% of the time he confused him took away the first read and made him dissect the defense and manto man those guys play manto Man coverage I don't think Brock pry had a bad game he didn't have a bad game but when you go what two for six on third down you three for 12 and as a total then uh speed SP deserves that kind of credit that's more of indictment On The Run game they was able to shut down the Run game of the ners I think Brock not indictment On The Run game yeah because talk about CMC he's the fire starter for their offense he was shut down in the second half he only had three carriers in the third physically dominated the line of scri that's not a d on the Run game it's a d on the line of scrimmage that they could not block the front for the that's not on P though here's what I saw though at in overtime when San Francisco has their drive on second down it was a Christian mcaffrey run that got stuffed behind the line scrimmage offensive line W fair enough they were they went after mcaffrey they were not defending that second down play against the pass and on third down again before you got here today we talked about it the right guard for c for for San Francisco I saw to play yeah mcgibbons whatever his name mths whatever his name is totally missed his assignment and didn't block Chris Jones at all and he came right up the gut that wasn't them defensively trying to force them to throw the ball that was bad offensive line those happen in these kind of football games somebody's going to make a mistake a guy's going to go the wrong way but you still have to give credit to Steve SP know you dialing up these great defens going into this football game and he confused him but what sne saying is almost like we knew that the weak link was that's not no one says that about other quarterbacks you know Steve Wilson saying we want Patrick Mahomes to throw the ball that's our game we want we want Aaron Rogers to throw the ball we want Josh Allen to throw the ball we want Lamar Jackson th the ball we want like they just don't said this is sne being petty and saying something negative about Brock py which continues this whole doubter thing that we've been dealing with for months now about Brock birie yeah with all these elite players that they have at every position we know who they are right have we ever seen this season a defense basically single cover the San Francisco 49 wide receivers and tit that's exactly what they did so they were getting pressure and they believe so you know what we're going to get pressure on Brock P we want him we're going to force him to throw the football and we're going to play coverage yeah but at the end of the day he also had a like to Craig's point he had a good game so whatever the whatever you drew up defensively valy he was pressured valy he was able to get the ball and valy he had he didn't have enough time as he would have liked I think he brought a lot more time with his feet and his mechanics however I thought their main focus was to get after CMC shut down Debo Samuel so if the focus was to let Brock py did well he did throw the ball and he was effective so it's a win it's a win had a good Super Bowl one thing that I notic also when in that NFC Championship game when the 49ers played against the the Lions was that Brock P made a lot of plays with his feet and spag no took heed to that there were times where he would spy him not with one guy maybe two guys because he put on take that you know what we took away his first read he was able to go up and down the field against the lines and still be productive and in those second or third down situations when they got him behind the chains Steve you didn't Blitz him he played a spot he did a great job before we take a quick break time for one NBA thing while all of us were focused on NFL football and right fleo and of course the Super Bowl uh this happened in the East your two best teams in basketball in the Eastern Conference are the Boston Celtics no surprise there and the Cleveland Cavaliers they are the two seed right now and at West the two best teams in basketball are the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder so are you all focused on football that's what took place in the first half of the NBA season Oklahoma Minnesota and Cleveland are three of the top four seeds in basketball in the west and the East I don't think we're going to have a Western Conference Finals I gota be honest with I expect the Boston Celtics to be right up there in the East long with they walking but we're talking about the timber wolves and uh OKC but this guy this kid uh Gil from the Thunder he he's a special watch much more NBA stuff coming up obviously as we move farther away from the Super Bowl it is snow new New York oh look at that and that means a couple guys W outside to have a little toss in the weather and we're going to give you our final winners and losers from the 2024 NFL season the moving truck that's not for us I hope that's what I say right after this winners Winners and losers for the NFL season and hers let's give you the obvious one big winners for the football season the Kansas City Chiefs they were their third Super Bowl and now they have a chance to do something that's never been done before the three repeat it's obvious but we figured we'll start you easy they get the big dub it's a win because you have an option to go back because they're the quarterback and the head coach and what they have on defense so yeah congratulations to Kansas City Chiefs they could be back again next year uh you know what I think they are the winners because I believe next year looking forward with the Kansas City Chiefs they will be better offensively I don't think Andy Reid is going to go into this offseason the next season and have those same barers in the same room I think everybody except Rasheed rice will be gone and he'll have some Elite pass catchers in this offense we don't know who they're going to be but he's going to upgrade the wide receiver position all right big loser has to be Kyle Shanahan loser because he's now lost his third Super Bowl either as a coordinator or as a head coach he's blown a double digit lead in all three of those losses obviously the first two were much different than what happened on Sunday but they still had a 10 nothing lead and they lost the game and now America's just dumping on him and we're even inventing things to be critical of him like the overtime rules but he has to take the L on this one he has to take the L because he didn't have he he didn't know how to stop the bleeding right you had double digit lead and you end up in overtime losing that game and if it's the overtime rules to taking the uh to taking you know leading your offense in overtime time there's a lot of questionable things at the end of that game that happen under his watch yeah I got to go a little out of order here they're going to get mad at me but more than me uh that a huge a huge loser uh this year if I may loser off of Kansas City winning has to be the Raiders cuz not only did Kansas City practice in their facility they won the Super Bowl in their building how about that that's your guy you are so losers you won't find they also beat the Chiefs last time they played though yeah and what's that get you uh nothing nothing I'm just glad the ners didn't like blame the Pras city won a Super Bowl in their building sweet to finan all right let's go to the next one big winner you might bring a little debate here on on the deis oh Brock pie big winner this year proved that he's a franchise quarterback had had a very good Super Bowl not as good as momes but a very good Super Bowl and when we come out of that that game even though he's going to take ownership as a leader would everyone that watched that game knows they did not lose the Super Bowl because of Brock P hey with the season that he had obviously they didn't win the World Championship but with that comes expectations yes he is no longer Miss irrelevant he is considered to be one of the top uh quarterbacks in all of the NFC than I like it moving forward so we expect him to keep getting better and wield his team back to the NFC Championship or hopefully the Super Bowl so I will say he was a winner back he just didn't win a big game and then he's durable you talk about all the quarterbacks he has to go through in the AFC I mean he's probably the most NFC excuse me he's probably the most durable out all them and in fact that one remains humble talking about NFC now Super Bowl he can you know he can be back and the team is coming back was in good hands with him for a while he didn't play well against the Packers he didn't play well against the Lions and he needed to perform well in this game he absolutely did I agree he is a winner all right let's go to big losers uh and again this is a season long uh accomplishment here but the Dallas Cowboys major losers not only do they lose to the Green Bay Packers uh at home a place that they were perfect for a year and a half and they couldn't even get the right defensive coordinator they have no offensive coordinator essentially right there and they still come back next year with a lame duck head coach in Mike McCarthy and a quarterback that they're going to have to pay a couple of hundred million dollars to despite the fact that he's two and five in the postseason losers yeah the cowbo was a and not only that if I may add Jerry Jones also lost out on the World Cup to New Jersey New Jersey now you no I mean you hit it all on head the issue going forward is they need what the hell happened to Tony Paul too right Run game what happened to this offensive line like Dak needs help outside of CD lamb they got to figure it out Tony P will not be a Dallas Cowboy next year but I'll give you your name just to consider just for now back of your head we'll bring it back up when we get around to it do not be shocked if the New York Giants do not franchise saquon Barkley and he becomes an unrestricted free agent and goes right to the Dallas Cowboys that would not Shock me if that happened because there's some debate as to whether or not the New York Giants would franchise him again it's about 12 million bucks for a running back to be franchised this upcoming year and Tony Pard isn't under contract either he got franchised last year and did not have a great year just keep that in the back of the Dome uhoh and at some point when we start talking about those guys in free agency do not be surprised when saquon Barkley becomes the Dallas Cowboy a big winner this year you guys love him I think we all know why cuz he had a great final month and a half of the Season Jordan love big winner this year he's going to get 100 million plus from Green Bay and he's a franchise quarterback yeah after week nine of this season he turned it on in a major way the fact that he went into Dallas and beat the hell out of the Cowboys and had a chance had a chance to beat the NS obviously Brock py took he also you know wears the right color green right there you go go that's the only that's one that's one good thing about it but you know I'm always petty man that's that's why I'm here I would take joy love over Brock P any day of the week of course you I really would I think this young man I think he's going to be that good they found a franchise quarterback after Aaron Rogers but he got up to a rocket start in in the first part of the Season everybody was you know throwing him under the bus saying that he wasn't their guy but he proved to us that he is the guy week 11 on he was money good statistically and obviously LED Green Bay all back to the playoffs of course when he played Brock prie in the playoffs he got out played by him but you take whoever you want um big loser big loser this year has to be Tyreek Hill uh his Miami Dolphins do not win the playoff game against Kansas City his kid lights his house on fire and a burn down and oh by the way ever since Tyreek kill left Kansas City all they've done is win back-to-back Super Bowls he hasn't won a playoff game they haven't lost the Super Bowl since he left for Miami loser he was an MVP candidate what you talking about he had a monster year you know I think that he should have probably won offensive player of the year in this league this year almost 1,800 yard receiver do you know how special that is to be able to have 17 99 and the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes can go win a world championship with mvs and uh rased rice that's right and basically no other wide receiver that shows you just how good it also minimizes the greatness of Tyreek kill they won minimize they' won two without Tyreek kill they don't even throw the ball deep no more and they win Super batrick M his season ended in Kansas City too in that game and he did not perform that well had like one they tell me they want me you me to take a break is all you want you want me minutes I we keep going great uh big loser uh this year is Eric be oh boy Eric p with Kansas City Rockstar couldn't get a head coaching job goes to Washington to prove that he was responsible for the greatness in Kansas City uh the players revolted against him new owner comes in new head coach comes in bye-bye and he was so desperate to stay relevant that he actually went to Kansas City as they prepared for the Ravens game and try to help them out despite being under contract at the time to the commodor Eric benmy Loser yeah I I hated this for Eric bmy because I kind of felt that him taking this job in Washington to prove you know his worth as a offensive coordinator he doesn't have he doesn't have a quarterback in Washington really you know to really flourish as a coordinator but I'll also say this is anybody talking about Matt naggie what he bought to the but it's Andy re exactly yes but mat kind he was in the same he's in the same situation that Eric beny was nobody's talking about Matt naggie the problem but the problem Eric beny right now Val Sam is who he is he didn't have offic Line running back through the list you can talk about it however now there's a black cloud over him because everywhere he's gone outside of Kansas City hasn't been successful and that was the main thing if him taking a job can he survive without he's going to get a job doing something whether go to college no but whether it's a passing game coordinator whether it's an offensive coordinator he will be in the NFL but like pla said I'm with you 100% he made a bad career decision not to leave Kansas City necessarily but the place he went he had to know Ron Rivera was in hot water to start the season and he didn't have a quter nobody else was taking I why he went there I think he went there because he knew that Ron Rivera's days were numbered and then he would walk right into that head coaching spot and for some reason that didn't happen sadly loser for making that decision yeah no it's um it's legendary I mean just um to be able to no one's ever done it and we knew it's legendary to win back to back I think eight other teams had done it um we had heard it all week we had talked to the guys about it and we felt like we had the the best opportunity that we had ever had to to go out there and do that and I'd fell short the year before and so I mean all you could do back at it so Andy re coming back they're going for a three- Peak Craig what is the biggest thing standing in the way of the Chiefs on their road to a three- Peak the rest of the AFC because it's still a gauntlet you know and you give them all the credit they deserve because this year was different they didn't have HomeField AG didn't get the state hour Ahad didn't get a first round by they had to prove that they could win in horrendous weather which they did in that first week against Miami they had a prove that they could take that show on the road uh against 80,000 screaming mad fans also in bad weather in Buffalo and a rockstar quarterback and Josh alen and then they had a prove that they could go beat arguably the best defensive football on the road in Baltimore against the league MVP and oh by the way after that do it again against the best team the NFC had all year long so now there's no more question marks the only question mark for Kansas City now is what does everybody else do Kansas City comes back with the two guys that they need the most it's the coach and the quarterback and we recognize that their secondary comes back you know all under contract and they're a badass secondary they're going to make some tweaks obviously pla I think you're right they'll probably acquire a wide receiver uh at some point they have very good backup tight ends already there so I do think they need a legitimate number one or number two wide receiver there are guys that are going to be available in that regard Gabe Davis is one of them uh leaving Buffalo most likely this year certainly has the opportunity to leave Buffalo and I can see see Gabe Davis becoming a Target in Kansas City could keep his name in the back of your mind but also I think as much as they will Tinker uh and had a very good draft as well last year you got to think about all all the other teams that are right there close like Baltimore like Buffalo obviously I know we mock the Jets but the jets are in play because of Aaron Rodgers only because of Aaron Rodgers I want to see what those teams do I want to see what impact Jim Harbaugh has on that offense out there in LA with a Justin Herbert y I don't think that the AFC West is as easy as it has been the last eight years where they dominate they win five out of the six games or all six of those games and they win the division around Thanksgiving it's clear that the AFC West is going to get better I think the Raiders need a quarterback but they've got a coach we know Harbaugh obviously you've got Shawn pyton and Denver so what's really interesting is if you're the five or six legitimate teams that are a threat to their Supremacy what tinkering do those teams do to give them a fighter chance to win a big playoff game even if that game is an arrowhead I don't worry about the NFC I don't worry about it because there's only three teams at top of my head right now today pre-draft pre-f free agency that we could all agree all those three teams are alloted to be in the playoffs San Fran's one of them I think the Eagles are one of them and I think the lions are one of them yeah but I I think to go I think that the biggest issue with the Kansas City Chiefs are the Kansas City Chiefs and solely because throughout the season um they were horrible in the second half of football games they couldn't score right it was you understand the Chiefs had a they were a second race defense behind Baltimore right they were great in sacks tackling on and on the category in a lot of categories what happened was obviously you just talk about the playoffs the ability to turn it on and what makes a Super Bowl interesting is usually in the first half of the game they they kind of light it up that didn't happen in Super Bowl it was the second half they got busy so for me going forward man is how can they answer some of the second half RS that we don't have to start questioning their off and and I and I think Plex you you've referenced this before you know and I'm not blame I'm not saying it's going to happen because I think Mahomes is a different dude but when you win the off season's different some guys you got 53 dudes not every guy is going to take a two we break go to bahamar and the Bahamas and then come back and start working out and do all the little things you need to do to you know to be in for the Long Haul of an NFL season there will be guys that don't work as hard there will be guys that start their offseason regimen a little bit later than they normally do and there'll be some of them not all cuz I'm sure you guys have seen it sometimes you get complacent yeah and and and there will be guys contractually who will use this opportunity to go get more money elsewhere elsewhere because you know this you have Patrick Mahomes but obviously from a free agent standpoint it makes it a destination for other guys and you when you talk about what what are these other AFC teams are going to do tinkering with AF with Kansas City Chiefs they like well he said the Kansas City Chief's worst enemy as their own self so they can get better at the offensive line jante I think he the league and off penalties they have a young secondary and McDuffy and and sne they had the very young defense but they just need to get better I think they will get better offensively at the wide receiver position and the offensive line you got a young Isaiah PCO and by the way you know one thing you we always talk about the cap like the bills are in cap hell right now and people go oh my God we can't get anyone you know the cap I'll use Mark schar's term not my term it's a fungible number if you want to get gu signed to get him signed and I give you an example of that Patrick Mahomes this past season his base salary was $1.3 Million that's ridiculous okay that was his base salary W he got like $20 million at the start of the Year little sonning bonus and his dead cap number next year is just under $60 million so obviously you restructure contracts you can do that once a year you can't do it twice in any calendar year you've got Kelsey sign through next year you've got Pro sign through next year obviously the two big names who were free agents are Chris Jones who's obviously their best defensive lineman and their best player and Sneed who became a legitimate star uh as a defensive back I'm looking at the whole Chris Jones situation defensively we we know that the Kanas City Chiefs would not have won this game if if Chris Jones didn't show be the playoffs without him right so with that being said he he made a statement going into the season he wanted to make more money yep so now I'm saying to myself I don't know I think he's in his eighth or ninth 10th year or whatever the case may be yeah he wants to be a top paid you know defense attack or what he deserves so now does he uh you know use this opportunity to to exercise to get more money or does he say to himself you know what we got a chance to do something really special I don't believe that there's enough money from another team uh in a contract that would sway him away to another four or five to go play in uh you know Arizona or may whatever the case may be I think he stays home and continues to well I think every player comes to that fork the right is it about the money or is it about the wins he's already has three Super Bowls so it now has to be about the money so if you're the Chicago Bears you have a you have a conversation with Chris Jones because now you're looking about possibly locking up Justin Fields you know you need another impact play you got sweat on the defensive line now you bring Chris Jones is now that team and that Dynamic and that coach especially in that division changeed so if you're Chris Jones go get the bed yeah I look I hear you and I would never argue a guy going to get the money cuz this will be his only shot to get that type of money but also makes a good point if it's the difference look for all of us it's lifechanging money but you can't view it that way because to guys in the middle of it it's not because if you make 150 million or 160 that 10 million bucks I hate to say this has zero impact on your ability to live your life and take care of your family all the things that come with it so then the trade-off is not a HomeTown discount y but there might be an outlier team out there that goes to a Sneed or goes to a Jones or players like that and says we'll pay more than Kansas City pays you but as a player you don't have to make a decision right do I want to take a little bit less for a chance to do something that's never been done and Tru guarantee myself that for the rest of my career I'm playing on a team that's a guaranteed lock to be in the postseason or do I want to take more money and I would never begrudge a player doing that and go to a place where there's a really good chance I never see the playoffs and the those are decisions guys like you have had to make yeah but once again I I think you've won you've done it your way you've done it every way possible to get the bag even to being this point if you have an opportunity to leave and make more money than you've ever seen in your life go get the money because it's not about the spread is too like one team say here's 59 and the other team's like here's 90 go take if the number from another team is you know north of 1520 million I understand that but when we're talking five or six or $7 million versus Chris Jones staying in Kansas City or going to New England or whatever the case may be to get a few extra million dollars I don't see that happening just glad we all you know this Rich mindset we're all sharing just scoff away five six million after he's all pro he's I mean there nothing else there's nothing else for this man to Earth of course it is for that's to do win three win three in a row three Super Bowls Pro bowls it's done go get the money I I don't I hear saying and not to get two in the Weeds on it if it's a small amount more again in their world not our world if someone says you're going to make an extra 10 million bucks over the course of five years so it's 2 million a year taxes take a million out of that my agent gets his 10% my marketing guy gets his 20% and now net net net to me a lot of money half a million bucks I might want to stay where I'm at and win a Super Bowl right the most money you can but that's what he said I feel I can hear I got you I saw your Super Bowl spread I saw the Super Bowl spread touching all the bread I saw it moving on to our second headline there's a lot of discussion after the Super Bowl about the overtime rules the decision K Shanahan made to receive the ball instead of kick the ball and whether or not the 49ers even knew the rules here are a couple of 49ers with some interesting confessions I didn't even know about the new over uh playoff overtime rule so didn't pay attention it was a surprise to me um yeah I didn't even really even know what was going on in terms of that you know what I didn't even realize that the the playoff rules were different in overtime so I I assumed you just want the ball cuz you score a touchdown and win but I guess that's not the case wow so we got two 49ers admitting they don't know the rules is this an indication of poor preparation from the indication that those two players don't pay attention to meetings not just one player two well one of them went to Oregon so no surprise there um I'm just saying that because Jeff Schwarz is a friend and he went to Oregon and screw you Jeff uh in in any event uh look this I don't know why this makes me like seething mad but it does it's a it's an invented way to take a shot at Kyle shanan and the coaching staff the players do not need to know you not understanding what I'm saying listen every so uh Justin the fullback just said he thought that you get the football you score they think the game is over with so you play with a different intensity in different situations so if you're s 49ers you're on offense you're like man we going to give everything we got down to from head to toe an indictment on the player everything we got we're going to score we're going to score touchdown and the game's over with yeah and they have no idea so I this right so in overtime in the Super Bowl not knowing the rules itates to I'm not going to give him my all they think that if they score a touchdown the game is over yeah but the bottom line is they San Francis didn't score they only ended with three knowing dwel Patrick Mahomes was coming back on the field he was going to score seven even they said listen if we was going to say we was going to go they said it and we'll never know obviously I appreciate respect the fact that they claimed to have had a plan for it we don't know for sure that they would have done it here's what I know you can say the same thing the coaching staff for San Francisco was wellaware the rule and they had a plan period stop they had a plan and I'll say it for the 19th time you guys I say respectfully yeah you do as you're told the coach puts in a play they had a plan it didn't work he had Steve wols at the mercy and that final drive no by way do you think the players on the field after they kick the field goal uh were like well yo we don't know the rules so we're not
