Woman Fearing For Her Life Begs Ohio City Council For HELP With Migrants

blessings to you and your family so in case you didn't know the City of Springfield in Ohio is having a difficult time with illegal migration and all I can say is elections have consequences you get what you voted for I live at 426 Northwestern Avenue Miss Skinner who I'm not trying to put on the spot is my neighbor just talk to me ma'am thank you so much and I'm done with what I'm seeing it is so unsafe in my neighborhood anymore I have the homeless that were trying to camp out and I have I have made concessions with them and I try to help them the best I can to keep them from trying to squat on my property but it is so unsafe I have men that cannot speak English in my front yard screaming at me throwing mattresses in my front yard throwing trash in my front yard and I can't I look at me I weigh 95 PBS I couldn't defend myself if I had to my husband is elderly and last night after living in this home for 45 years he said Noel guess what it's time to pack up and move he said we can't do this anymore he said it's killing both of us mentally I don't understand what you expect of us as Citizens I mean I I understand they're here under temporary protected status and you're protecting them and I understand that our city services are overwhelmed and underst staffed but who's protecting us if we're protecting them who's protecting me I want out of this town I am sorry please give me a reason to stay Thank you thank you I was out and about yesterday driving around Springfield I was looking at the giant holes in some of our buildings I noticed all of the old familiar spots bearing new signs in an unfamiliar language I watched as groups of strangers walked around the city like lost tourists and it was like a punch in the gut a terrible sadness came over me and I began to cry I immediately started to think back to when I was little walking from my Grandma's House on South Fountain through downtown and all the way to SNY Park going to Rens to get new school clothes and shoes the excitement of the mall for lunch at the Blue Fox were even better to see Santa riding down High Street admiring the beauty of those stately homes and their amazing architecture dropping pennies in the fountain and making wishes and now all those warm memories are becoming fuel to the fire of anger inside of me I feel like we have been invaded I'm angry that my friends and family are packing up and moving away I'm angry that foreigners are using up the resources that were set up for the Americans that reside here I'm angry that another country's flag was being flown in our city I'm angry when I see our businesses and recreational areas littered with garbage left by people that do not know or understand our laws and culture and are making no attempt to learn about them and let me be clear this is not about race this is about people being given the privilege of coming here from another country and having no respect for our people our land or our life's work people living their life here the way they did in Haiti angry stealing polluting opening containers in our grocery stores helping themselves to what's inside and throwing the rest onto the shelves and Floors pulling off of the highway to publicly clean and gut the roadkill lying there in front of anyone that passes by stealing animals from Farmers and leaving their severed heads at the sight of an old school where children play relieving themselves in public making some barbaric stew out of the birds that live in our Park this is insanity and it has to stop what will become of Springfield where will we be in 5 years the thought terrifies me will it be some sort of dystopian Wasteland with most of our original residents having moved away and those that cannot afford to move being locked in inside their homes living in fear this thought is keeping me awake at night I just want the old Springfield back I know it was far from perfect but at least it was still ours thank you Kim darell my statement here this evening is I feel like that as a commission as the chief of police and so forth that if we could come together every two weeks and have some solutions the chief of police could bring some statistics and say this is how many cars we've towed this is how many illegal drivers we've taken off the street we're not allowing them to just drive off um we've had this many accidents where they've left their vehicles in the middle of the street I've witnessed it myself um and we have some actual numbers um I've put a call in to a detective over three different instances incidences on my block just since May still waiting on an answer so as of tomorrow every day I am calling that detective and I'm going to leave a message so I get an answer there is no reason in a week and a half is that it's please don't speak who spoke you can go ahead and and head on out for me thank you so much y thank you for your information but you would go ahead and leave respectfully that you cannot get a call back or get an answer for situations that are concerning to you that just starts to make people even more upset there should be answers and I feel like that if we can come together and we can start solving I don't care how small or how little they are it may seem little but they're not because then they're created big and if we can come together and we can be the city that I was proud to be born in not one that now I want to sell my home and move I have a business here I don't care what color you are I don't care what race you are I don't care about those things I want for when my son leaves in the middle of the night Rob and I've got to worry about him driving a vehicle that my son's going to come home because he has business to do sometimes in the middle of the night and he has to come home and it's not illegal business it's legal business and I feel like if we can come together and we can get some answers let's start getting some answers let's start getting some solutions small big whatever let's start moving forward and let's bring Springfield back to what it used to be that's what we need and if you guys can't do it and step aside and we'll vote somebody in that can or we'll put a new manager in that can I don't care who it is a new chief of police I don't care at this point I just want my Springfield back that's what I want thank you Melissa but first thing I want to say is I'm glad I'm here I'm glad I'm not sitting in one of your seats um we do have a problem here in Springfield I know that sometimes I feel the same way as some of the other people in here you know I don't want to be in Springfield anymore okay the house I have uh I've been in it since 1974 here a couple years ago right when we started you know accepting these people into the country uh the house across the street from mine was bought and it was remodeled and boy I know that was a job you know but at the same time next thing I know I have 20 Haitians living in it I believe that the city ended up you know evicting these people or the lady that was over them purchased a purchased land out in the county so then they were going to the county they're there for 30 days but then they move on to a more permanent residence whether it be City County or wherever um my next experience with this and I think think this is where a lot of us are having a problem and I really wish we could deal with this as a community you know with the council instead of going through NAACP or you know all this other M Migo because we are a community but my experience at work okay I work it for a living I'm also a videographer I do video editing uh I have these Haitians along with Somali Max me Spanish you know I have them all but with the Haitians they need extra attention because in all honesty the best way that I found to train them and I'm saying this from a company point of view okay is most of them if we would match them up to our life it's going to be they have a kindergarten to second grade education the state teaches people on our public public courses at a fifth to sixth grade education level if you can do something visually they can see something visually no no words no nothing else they can learn and they will learn but we actually have to deep you know step down that low and slowly bring them up to our level and that takes a while thank you thank you what a mess man like I said at the beginning elections have consequences you can thank Democrat for this and obviously there were more speakers at the meeting but what you just watched was the general
