a side note this is my second video on this story but the first one was rushed and crap quality plus we have even more to talk about now and boy is there a lot to talk about Emily Armstrong whether you love them or love to hate them there's no denying the impact Lincoln Park had on music they were huge like really huge their music resonated with a generation grappling with angst confusion and question fashion choices you know the usual teenage stuff but then tragedy struck lead singer Chester Bennington the voice behind those iconic screams and heartfelt lyrics passed away in 2017 it was a loss felt deeply by fans worldwide the band went quiet understandably so the future of Lincoln Park seemed uncertain certain would they continue could they continue should they continue these were questions on everyone's Minds well except maybe Nickelback they were probably too busy counting their money fast forward to 2024 and Lincoln Park announces their return new music a tour hope but wait there's something different there's a new voice at the helm a new face a new everything really enter Emily Armstrong former frontwoman of the band dead Sarah now I'm not saying Armstrong isn't talented she can definitely carry a tune but replacing Chester Bennington that's like replacing Freddy Mercury with a karaoke Enthusiast it's just not the same social media as it tends to do exploded fans were torn some were cautiously optimistic willing to give Armstrong a chance others however were less forgiving the internet was a wash with hot takes think pieces and of course memes lots and lots of memes as if replacing a legend wasn't controversial enough the internet soon soon Unearthed another layer to this already baffling Saga Emily Armstrong as it turns out has some interesting connections connections to the Church of Scientology to be precise oh and did I mention her unwavering support for Danny Masterson you know Danny Masterson the actor from That 70s Show who is currently facing multiple allegations of sexual assault yeah that guy suddenly the decision to hire Armstrong seemed less about finding the right musical fit and more about well something else entirely was this a publicity stunt gone wrong A desperate attempt to stay relevant or was there something more Sinister at play had Scientology finally infiltrated the world of new metal the possibilities were endless and the internet ever eager for a conspiracy went wild the backlash was Swift and brutal fans took to Twitter Instagram and whatever other social media platforms the kids are using these days to express their displeasure this is worse than that time they collaborated with Jay-Z one user lamented I'm officially numb to the pain cried another in a desperate attempt to make the situation about them even other musicians chimed in I'm just glad Chester isn't around to see this tweeted one aging rocker seemingly missing the irony of his own statement the consensus was clear Lincoln Park had made a colossal [Music] misstep section five billion year contracts and other jokes a look at the absurdity let's be honest the entire situation is just plain bizarre I mean Scientology really it's like they spun a wheel of bad PR moves and landed on alien overlords and billion-year contracts and the Danny masteron connection that's just adding insult to injury it's like ordering a pizza with everything on it only to discover they used pineapple instead of pepperoni sure some people like pineapple on pizza but this isn't about them is it the sheer absurdity of it all is almost comical it's like something out of a satirical news show oh wait section six what's the frequency Kenneth deciphering The Silence from the band in the midst of all this chaos one party remained conspicuously silent Lincoln Park themselves the band members have yet to publicly address the controversy surrounding arm Strong's past perhaps they're huddled in their recording studio frantically trying to rewrite their set list to include a rousing rendition of going away to college from the Scientology handbook or maybe they're just enjoying the silence a luxury rarely uh afforded to a band that once defined a generation's angst whatever the reason for their silence one thing is certain it's only fueling the fire the internet abhor a vacuum and in the absence of any explanation speculation runs rampant section seven one step closer to disaster speculating on linol Park's future so what does the future hold for Lincoln Park will they weather this storm and emerge stronger on the other side or is this the beginning of the end it's hard to say for sure but if I were a betting man and I am my uh bookie can attest to that I'd say the odds aren't in their favor this isn't just a case of a band trying to move on after a tragedy this is a fullblown PR nightmare the kind that could s even the most established of Acts of course there's always the chance that they'll pull off a miracle maybe Armstrong will renounce Scientology denounce Masterson and belt out a killer rendition of crawling that'll bring a tear to even the most cynical listener's eye but let's be realistic folks we're talking about a band that once thought rapping with Jay-Z was a good idea Miracles aren't exactly their Forte Section 8 in the realm of bad ideas this takes the crown look I've seen some bad ideas in my time I've seen politicians try to explain away scandals with worse scandals I've seen companies try to Rebrand themselves after massive PR disasters but this this Takes the Cake this is like trying to put out a grease fire with gasoline it's just making everything worse hiring Emily Armstrong might go down in history as one of the most baffling decisions in music history it's a decision so mind bogglingly bad that it makes you wonder if there's a secret meeting of record Executives somewhere laughing maniacally as they watch the world burn section nine so what can we learn probably nothing but let's try anyway so what can we learn from this whole debacle honestly probably not much the music industry is a Fickle beast and logic doesn't always apply but if there's one takeaway it's this sometimes it's better to just walk away Lincoln Park you had a good run you wrote some catchy Tunes you inspired a generation of angsty teens and you even managed to make rapping with Jay-Z somewhat tolerable but it's time to let go Chester wouldn't want this the fans don't want this and frankly I don't think even you want this so do us all a favor and just fade into the background go and enjoy your Millions take up knitting just please For the Love of All That is Holy stop making music
