Will Others Face Civil Charges In Karen Read Case?

[Music] Karen Reed yes that Karen Reed the one who's going to have another trial in January uh not quite sure exactly all the details of what's going to be included in that trial or they're going to do the exact same charges are they going to do the exact same defense the same prosecution that's all yet to be seen but she's going back there's also a civil case that's been filed against her from the family of John O'Keefe uh naming her and CF McCarthy's and the waterfall Bar and Grill one of the big things one of the key points that they're going after uh her in this is for the damages for emotional distress this is something that happened after the fact of of joh oef dying this is talking about all the harassment uh all of the the celebrity that Karen Reed kind of became uh in the course of this trial and the seemingly complete lack of empathy for those who lost someone they love and the continued harassment that they faced because of this Jennifer coffin deer retired FBI special agent joining me to discuss uh yeah uh what do you think of the civil case and where this is going to go well I think the civil case will be one uh it's only a preponderance of the evidence which is you know 51 versus 49% if you will if you want to put it into numbers and it's such to me it's a strong case a Beyond A Reasonable Doubt case nine of three jurors apparently felt the same in terms of manslaughter I think it will be very important who is on that that jury because if they cannot keep off people that already have a preconceived notion uh you know they might have a little bit tougher of a heel decline but I really want to touch on what you talked about just then uh is the what I'm calling a weaponization of social media and of individuals to really weaponize their voices against anyone who had anything negative to say against Karen Reed it is unbelievable the tens of thousands of people who have no idea of the evidence who have bastardized the evidence and comported with this notion uh that she has done nothing wrong and to take it one step further and malign harass uh uh follow the witnesses and the family screaming horrible words at them uh I've posted a lot of it on my Twitter yeah it is so cringeworthy and it's disgusting and they have been treated like they killed J O'Keefe the mother and the and the brother the what they have been called and the Army that's been put together uh it's it's absolutely unprecedented and that's why everyone knows about this case now should others face charges in this Beyond Karen Reed uh civy I mean like turtle boy uh and that's the only time I'll use his name on here uh but I mean my God I mean at some point you gotta see what he's done and I know he has faced some charges but you know a good civil suit um I I I think he certainly uh is uh you know in line to see something like that well he's facing 18 felony charges of harassment and intimidation witness intimidation and if he's convicted of even one of those which if you've read the uh probable cause statement it's unbelievable the detail they went in in statement it's similar to what happened in the Idaho 4 case I mean they threw in everything but the kitchen sink this was probable cause Plus in terms of the affidavit and I don't think they're going to have any issue in convicting him and even though he wants to use the First Amendment uh you know and become some sort of martyr in this the line is clear you can't harass and intimidate uh victims and then say well I can say anything I want under the First Amendment know um this is really mafioso type tactics and they have information hundreds of communications between Karen Reed and the Blogger I've read them it's unbelievable the uh conspiracy really that they entered into to carry out this pretend notion that the people in the house committed that murder to turn away from the facts and circumstances that Karen Reed talked about in her interviews on television and even her lawyer from the get-go said listen this was just an accident Karen didn't have any uh sort of of malice and intent it was a a drunk accident do you think any of those are going to show up here in Discovery uh or through any sort of depositions when they start digging into this civil oh it's yes it's going to come out I mean A to Z you know discover in a civil matter is so much different than in a criminal matter the rules uh uh are so much less restrictive we are going to see so much more information and it's going to be ugly and it's going to be really eye openening I think for a lot of people how I mean this information is out there it just seems that a lot of people don't want to see it they it it it contradicts their narrative that they've dug so deep into why why why is that that people will not simply accept truth and and reality on realities terms of of look this is what this person is all about this is what this person has done uh to this community uh and to these victims uh but it's like la la la la la I don't want to hear it you know I think it the perfect um you know analogy is perception is reality and somehow the perception in this case has been again I'll use the word just bastardized in terms of what the true reality is and then people have decided to run with it what I've never understood and I've said this from the beginning a true victim of police corruption in that area was Sandra burchmore I've been seeing this for months and that's the case everybody should get behind they should have put their money behind it they should have put their
