Week 1 SEC Football Predictions!

football some SEC football games and and we're picking and previewing the the all the the every team every team gets to play this weekend and Mike I don't know if I can handle any more expansion you know after 16 of these things I'm like damn it's going to be a long show Mike yeah just two more teams you wouldn't think the uh prep is any extra but I realized uh you know all you know my goodness don't know if they cover the spread only because it's like each one of them is is Dam near 50 points the is the spread for each of those games so we both expect the SEC to roll tonight uh it's just going to be a matter of if they cover or not you know what yeah and I thought Arkansas would I thought missou wouldn't and uh after seeing Sam pitman's jacket I know I'm right you know I know I'm it's it's hot as hell out there how hot is it going to be for your game and it looks like there's going to be a lot of storms around the SEC this weekend so we'll get to James in just a second with it's got to be some catchers down there and there's going to be some touchdown scored so yeah I like that one brother and when they get the Red Zone like I said they may not have anybody to add the ball to so they might just give it to a receiver you know what you never know I think there there may be a little trickeration somebody's got to fill in that uh that uh Bowers position you know right and then oh Shane I don't know if you're going to like this one but I love it because my man Montell Johnson has officially been cleared by Billy Napier he's a full go for the Florida Gators their star running back for the Miami matchup same one as Dylan Bell more or less Shane than half a rushing or receiving touchdown from Montrell Johnson I know he's coming off the surgery but he's cleared they that I think that's why they had the surgery to make sure he's 100% for this Miami game so as long as Montreal Johnson scores the touchdown that he doesn't throw you're going to win this one too Mike you don't suit up a guy not to play either and that's one thing you're going to watch and and and I love this I love this Mike because even if you do got him on a swing count when are you putting him in when you're in the red zone exactly all right how about moose Muhammad outstanding receiver for Texas A&M Shane I could when I saw this I could believe it I could believe it just 33 and a half receiving yard I mean that's that's one big catch what quarter is that Mike that's for the whole game Shay that's for the whole game so give me more than 33 and a half receiving yards for moose muhamad I love that one uh I also like Le'Veon Moss Texas A&M running back Shane yeah half a rushing or receiving touchdown so more or less I'm going to bore come on boore come on for Le'Veon boss and then last one cuz I I know you you've been hyping up I saw you on the on the Twitter machine sh you're hyping up Vander belt come on said Alexander their star running back yeah not a lot of people know about this kid yet they're going to know he was he was their best freshman last year he was going to be their best sophomore more than 34 and a half rushing yards against Virginia Tech he's have that in the first half yeah absolutely man hey I learned more about Vanderbilt this year my brother's got him in a dynasty and and smoked my ass I didn't realize they had that much talent up there in Bandy so yeah I liked Alexander well yeah but what Shay didn't mention there is uh so he put in the backup quarterback at tight end he put in like the fastest receiver at quarterback and he just runs around and throws it around but again there was Alex like he did good with Alexander without me now once we played all bets were off we had to do our old school cheating you know I'm not going to lie shade your brother running wild on me but that that encouraged that said Alexander pick it did it because you kept seeing that name over and over again yep uh all right shade so you ready to make some picks oh baby yes let's do it but before we do it again we're going to go to our buddy James Bryant he's got us a a weather update here for every single game starting Friday going to Sunday so real quick let's kick it over to Kat TV's Week 1 SEC Weather Segment James Bryant well welcome to the KV podcast Studios I'm meteorologist James Bryant and I want to just thank you guys for inviting me on that SEC football podcast this season giving you a weather update for around the SEC football footprint we have a lot of games going on uh this weekend and unfortunately it looks like some of these are going to be impacted by weather just because there's a lot of thunderstorm chances on Friday Temple goes to Oklahoma that's 7 Eastern 6:00 Central uh 82 is the expected temperature kickoff rain is expected during the day 50% is still that rain and storm chance during the game so that's a possibility there that you may it wet if you are heading to Norman on Saturday we have a lot of games of course as we officially kick off the college football season and uh we'll start with these uh by time so uh 12 uh Eastern Time 11 Central Time Clemson versus Georgia of course that's in the dome there in Atlanta uh 92 and sunny will be what's happening outside be a lot more comfortable indoors Virginia Tech at vanderbelt that's at 12 Eastern 11 Central looks like it's going to be 89 degrees at kickoff it'll be humid there's a 20% chance of storms at kickoff it does look like the rain chance goes up during the game to 60% so this is a game where I would say there's a chance for a lightning delay at some point that's a pretty PR big road trip for Virginia Tech there heading to Nashville Chattanooga at Tennessee that's at 12:45 Eastern 11:45 Central it'll be 86 degrees at kickoff with a 20 to 30% chance of storms that chance also just like in Nashville goes up during the game so another chance for rain unfortunately with that one let's go to Austin Colorado State at Texas 3:30 Eastern 230 Central 89° will be the temperature it looks a little bit more humid here with the heated decks close to 100 there's are 30 % chance to 40% chance of scattered storms during that game and of course the most humid uh place in the conference this weekend Miami goes to Florida that's at 3:30 Eastern 230 Central the air temperature looks to be 94 at kickoff the heat indexs around 102 just a 20% chance of scattered thunderstorms Colombia South Carolina Old Dominion visits Columbia this weekend and at 4:15 Eastern that game will kick off it'll be hot 93 at kick off with a few clouds that heated next near 100 the chance for rain with this game is very low moving over to Starkville for Eastern Kentucky at a four uh that's a 6 o' Eastern kick 5:00 Central it'll still be uh before sunset here so it'll be 91 at kickoff fairly humid but partly cloudy and just 20% chance of a thunderstorm that chance for storms goes up as you go just towards the north to Oxford Ferman visits number six Old Miss 7:00 eastern 6:00 Central it'll 86 at kickoff and the chance for storms a little bit better than it will be in Starkville 30 to 40% on that scattered storm chance Western Kentucky at Alabama that's at 6 7:00 eastern 6:00 Central it'll be 90 Dees at kickoff partly cloudy only a 20% chance of storm there storms there in Tusk Lusa then one of the bigger games of the day one of the biggest non-conference matchups it's number 7 Notre Dame at number 20 Texas A&M that kicks at 7:30 Eastern 6:30 Central looks like it'll be uh CH there will be a chance for scattered storms it looks like it'll be 30 to 40% there and so this is another game we're really going to have to watch the radar for the possibility of a lightning delay Alabama A&M goes to Auburn that's at 7:30 Eastern 6:30 Central be 88 at kickoff looks like no rain is expected in Auburn there will be a few clouds with light Southeast winds and then Southern Miss goes to Kentucky that's 7:45 Eastern 645 Central it'll be 80° at kickoff this is another spot that's going to have rain during the day looks like a 60% chance of rain at kickoff that chance decreases during the evening so it's not a done deal that it'll um enter this game into a lightning delay but there is a good chance that something will be in the area during the day and then on Sunday of course we've got LSU at USC that game indoors but out in Vegas the highest one I saw there was Kentucky so that that one kind of intrigued me a little bit uh kind of a saturated game if you will but uh a lot of indoors I forgot about out heat index that's the thing man that heat I saw Swamp man you got some swamp ass down there man it's going to be hot hey old philli I appreciate you he just gave us 10 bucks hey thanks CZ he says I think we should hire right Shan so let's look ahead to uh we only got one game Friday again we we've already picked the Thursday games missou and Arkansas Oklahoma vs. Temple obviously they're going to kick some ass tonight uh that those are going to be laughers here but we got uh the first game Oklahoma as an SEC team tample at Oklahoma Shane Oklahoma favored by 42 and a half points with an over under 59 and this game will be uh Friday night ESPN 7:00 eastern 6 Central Shane how bad are them suitors going to whoop people's ass come on Welcome to the SEC right a lot of eyes going to be on this game uh just because of that this is a team that that most of us aren't used to playing or playing against you know so I'm pumped up to see what they put on the football field mainly on that offensive side of the ball I think we know exactly what we're going to have on defense and that's just a dominant for I mean I I'd be surprised if Temple moves across the 50 yard line too much in this football game Mike as as uh CZ James would say there's probably like a 60% probability that they don't okay Oklahoma's going to beat the [ __ ] out of these guys but the problem I have Mike is the spread that's a lot of points yeah I think you said what 43 and a half right 42 and A2 42 and A2 so let let me have Oklahoma 42 Temple zero it's not often you get a shut out you still don't cover the spread you know yeah and 42 points on that yeah I just think 43 uh I just I don't know that's a lot of points not saying that it can't happen wouldn't be surprised if it did happen this one I'm probably not going to put any money on because it it feels like one of those games that they just may showcase if you will right and I mean again why we want to feature James and that fantastic weather report I mean you know you try to go a step further you know if this game was played in in November and there's no no I mean it might be a little chilly but you know if if weather was not a factor at all Oklahoma's to kill him yeah but if it's damn near you know 90° 100° some of these games It just strikes me that we're just not going to leave our starters out there for a ton of these games and and particularly when you're still trying to figure things out and you're like in Oklahoma who thankfully uh you know you don't have like Texas A&M schedule coming out here uh you got you got three games to figure things out so are you really going to leave your starters in for the entirety of of Temple I mean that that would seem foolish to me so I I'm right there with everything you said could Oklahoma cover this certainly wouldn't surprise me at all but I I'm right there with you I like Temple to cover but I mean it's not much different than your Shane I've going Oklahoma 45 Temple give a couple field goals sh give him I'm give Temple six I I think they'll get across the 50 twice and they'll they'll nail some long field goals here tonight shut out absolutely going to be a good game and and I think you hit the n on the head a lot of heat index that's one thing you're going to notice a lot of you'll always see that thermometer down on the football field as somebody sweating their ass off you know it's like just don't forget it's a little warmer down there in those pads right hey appreciate your cousin bro regard thank you C thanks for the Koozie says Mike you got some good handwriting cursive is all lock go valls all right how about uh into the Saturday action Ole Miss vs. Furman Shane let's go man this is what it's really going to start heating up you know what we got one of the more interesting seems to watch this season Shane Old Miss hosting Ferman mhm well I believe he out of South Carolina the reason I know that is because they played South Carolina about a year ago I think but uh old best favored by 42 points Shane the over unders 60 and a half points this going to be a evening game seven Eastern six Central here on uh SEC and ESPN plus it's it's beating so bad Shane they don't want it televised you know what I'm saying absolutely and I I think there's going to be a couple talking points after this football game because everybody knows I actually us Talking Heads have been talking about Old Miss offense for how long Mike but I feel like this is a game that we say oh yeah by the way they were very active in the portal for defense and I feel like that's going to be the talking point after this Old Miss game I'm not expecting too many crazy fireworks on that side of the football I do think Lane opens it up a little bit cuz he's got to see what he has and and I would love to see Jackson on these Heisman race you know uh list that at the tell end of the season this is exactly where you pad those stats so I like Old Miss and I like uh I like it with the points here so uh what what do we got here Old Miss 52 Ferman seven I thought you were G to go another shutout I was like my goodness shut they got one touchdown early I think it's like one of those maybe like seven to seven games and then that's the last time Ferman gets over the reded I gu so maybe like just one defensive coverage bust in yeah one one little accident maybe maybe Lane went for it on fourth down or something like that you know oh I love that pick shape because when when I saw this line 42 again I get it that's a ton of points but Lane kein loves to run it up mhm and I'm again same thing I said about Oklahoma you can apply to this game is Jackson Darton compy are they going to be out there the entire game no that'd be foolish they they only play may only play half the game the starters but Lane's going to want to see what he's got in his backups and he is not going to take his foot off the throttle I really don't think I me I mean I I think they're going to try to score at will in this football game they've done it before they've got some 50 some 60 I I think they even beat one team by like 70 points in the opener last year Shane it was another team of this caliber so I I'm going to go off what we saw there and how good I think Old Miss is so I I'm right there with you Shane you nailed it I give me Old Miss 65 Ferman gets a couple field goal one more than the other team sh give me Ferman they got nine points so I think we'll see a we'll see like you said a bust or two it's not going to result in a touchdown but it's going to result in three field goals for Ferman on Saturday I think however many points they give up that's how many Coke bottles should be on the podium when he comes up you know so maybe nine Coke bottles sitting there as he's giving his press conference at the end of this game uh but I I think you hit this and one thing that you watch with Lane and maybe you're not familiar with is is he keeps up with this stuff he likes the spreads if you remember a few years back that Vanderbilt game it was real close and then all of a sudden they start taking the lead but he had an opportunity to really drain the clock but n he wanted to get those points in so he could get over at spread that he didn't know anything about so yeah this these things matter uh to Lane so I I like the I like U I like the points here too well hey and speaking of Old Miss I forgot to mention this I I meant to do it right off the top Shane fake injuries you know that has SEC mandates injury reports been uh yeah when I think Old Miss I think of fake injuries I I don't know after being at that Tennessee loss I that will never not be what I think of when it comes to Lane Ken but the SEC officially today Shane they announced they're doing the injury reports now they're only doing them for conference games MH cuz they're not going to give an advantage to the non-conference teams let them know everything but I just want everyone to be aware this so they're going to have to do a weekly starting on Wednesday they're got to give a a full injury report and then a final one on Saturday and here's the reporting structure Shane you have to say whether our guy's available whether our guy's probable questionable doubtful or out and that's what you have to designate every single player U now will they all say probable you know who knows but uh they are finding coaches Shane and this is some serious finds $25,000 they're going to find the head coach for the first time they lie on this thing and it's a 100,000 every time after that so uh I don't know will these coaches be lying for 100,000 I I don't know I I think they'll take this pretty seriously yeah just kind of curious how you would play that like if you say questionable MH or doubt let's say let's say probable let's say say you said probable and they don't play is that a fine or is that you know what I'm saying think so wow okay yeah that's that got intriguing yeah well you know what else come on buddy let's kick it over to Alabama A&M mhm M trying to find my little uh thing here Alabama A&M at Auburn yeah here we go boom nailed it uh Auburn vs. Alabama A&M Auburn favored Shane by 47 and a half points oh what a whooping they're going to get here on Saturday they over under 56 and A2 points this is a a 7:30 p.m. eastern time 6:30 Central kickoff on SEC network and ESPN plus this is another one sh that this is gonna be so bad they are afraid of what's going to happen to Alabama A&M we do not want this massacre televised how many is Auburn going to win by here a lot absolutely a lot Mike and it's it's a pretty it's going to be a pretty day it's actually one of the ones that didn't have any weather it looked like so 80 80 degrees so now it's going to be a nice football game here Mike and I feel like it's a it's a good start for for what Auburn wants to do I mean they got a stretch at home games here to kind of capitalize on don't stumble out of the gate I don't think they do here but um I do feel like it's a little bit I mean how many points did you say it was like 40 47 and a half that's too many so I'm I'm going with 35 I think they win by 35 here I do I I can't wait to see some of these young players that we keep hearing about that we heard about last year kind of getting some more playing time this season this is a perfect game to do that so if you're a DieHard Auber fan you're going to love it because you're also going to see what this football program may look like in another year or late this season so give me Auburn 49 Alabama A&M 14 well Shane you're known as a Hugh freeze hater so I'm not surprised that you picking Alabama A&M with the spread so I'm going the other way baby because H freze called to plays he can do no wrong I think he's want to showcase these weapons that he's got all these this young Talent this is a game where they'll shine because they're just completely going to be outclassed but uh or outclass Alabama A&M so give me Auburn sh you ain't going to believe this 55 Alabama A&M give him a field goal 55 to3 I think this is a that's an easy cover on the plane Shane the only issue is maybe if uh you know we do have some inexperienced backup quarterbacks this is a game you're going to want to get them tons of play if they struggle which I don't think they will clearly but if they struggle then you may be right and that 47 and a half is is a lot a lot a lot to to to give up so I've I'm not as confident on this one but after Bas and Auburn all off season I'm gonna praise them right here and hope they win by 50 plus yeah Hugh doesn't lose to Alabama A&M all right how about this one Shane Eastern Kentucky yeah at o uh Mississippi State vs. EKU Mississippi State the first game of the jef leby era boom there's my little thing here Mississippi State favorite only by 25 sh this this was about 30 earlier in the week till it was announced uh starting running backs off the team for now number one receiver Kelly aari's out number one safety Cory Ellington he's out but they're still 25o favorite over under 60 and a half points who you got in this one Shane oh Mike I I feel like this is going to be a fun game because you've not seen offense in so long uh I can't remember what they're saying is something like show me or Showtime or something like that that's that's what Mississippi State that's what leby brings to this program but like you said we started hearing some bad news on the injury front this is a team that can't afford some of those with the depth issues they already have I'm a little worried about just out of the gate this is a program I feel like will get better throughout the season um I'm not saying that they're going to struggle against Eastern Kentucky but I just don't think that it's going to be a bloodbath that it would be maybe next year or the year after so um closer game I I I don't I think that's too many points for me Mike give me Mississippi still winning 38 Eastern Kentucky 24 oo what if they had to put in this rule because you know we don't know much about Jeff lby yet yeah you know he's was at Old Miss he was at Oklahoma a good play caller we don't know much about him as a head coach right right what if he's saying bagging what if all his guys are healthy and they're going to come out here and he's he's what in a dull expect oh man Eastern Kentucky could be tough spreads dropped by five points let's beat their ass by 50 points just score every possession Force turnovers left and right I mean how great would that be it'd be awesome it'd be awesome I want Mississippi State to be good I really do and especially teams like this this is an opportunity to kind of really show us what this system could be you know and uh but I I still just worry right out of the gate you know stumbling a little bit making stupid mistakes which you see a lot of time times with these upte Tempo offenses well Shan I said all that because I'm right there with you I I'm not I think this was a game CH where where Mississippi State fans could could sit here and say damn we got a we got a long way to go yeah and that doesn't mean they're going to be threatened by this team but you know but but maybe they are maybe it's like close at half and and Mississippi State I I certainly think Mississippi state will pull away and and win by a wide margin but I'm going Mississippi State 30 Eastern Kentucky 10 so still a 20o type ball game but I I like EKU and the points MH uh this I'm just so fascinated to see what this what this team is and Alabama makes this game close I think it could be tight by the end of the first quarter but then Alabama just never looks back and but unfortunately they don't get enough points here so give me gambling wise with a 10- foot pole but I do like South Carolina to win 31 Trucking Company Old Dominion 17 they may just leave a truck there in in Columbia in case they need it later to move somebody Dominion 14 the difference in the game for me is going to be South Carolina's defense yeah and if they continue to play uh you know carry over that momentum they had in the second half of last season if they can carry that over to this year they're going to they're going to hold a lot of teams under 20 points well and and on the flip side of that coin Mike that South Carolina has a chance to shut us up they have a chance to come out here sellers look like the guy this defense look as locked down as they're supposed to be and then we're going into that Kentucky match up saying damn I think South Carolina's got this thing so it's just Old Dominion I get that but South Carolina has an opportunity to to to kind of put some of us at ease not that they care I mean not that Beamer cares what a lot better by the end of the year yeah you know with all with experience under their belt this with this new coaching staff but I don't know Lincoln Riley Back Against The Wall he's out all this time to prepare you know a lot of scripted plays and things of that nature I I think southern cal could really have their way with LSU's defense but to your point lless she was going to have their way with the Southern Cal defense just as easily so you know but but in games like this Shane it could be you know a tipped pass here a tip ball there uh a fumble you know things that you just can't foresee that could that's going to dictate this game a strip sack there a strip sack there who comes up with those plays yeah and this ain't in Tiger stadium if it was in Tiger stadium was a different story uh this is in Vegas you know this one of these big settings one where LSU has has fallen flat time and time again H they haven't won an opener since 2019 Shan Joe burrow was their quarterback now that doesn't have anything to do with this year but I don't know LSU is just one of the toughest teams for me to predict I hope like hell they win because otherwise it's going to be a an embarrassment for the Southeastern Conference I'll go LSU just because I got more faith in Brian Kelly in the collection of talent than I do Southern Cal but I I don't know I I think I think Lincoln Ro Riley is going to have some some stuff cooked up here give me LSU 35 Southern Cal 33 so I I think it's like a field goal at the end wins it for LSU we don't use that name on this show Mike you know
