Mike Predicts SEC Playoff Teams on "Paul Finebaum Show"

get him on in a few minutes Brad what's up hey Paul doing great The Season's right around the corners it's my favorite time of the year so what uh what are you biting down on right now well uh besides trying to land a a sponsorship with Cracker Barrel uh thanks to cousin Shane but uh you guys need any help do you want us to have Larry from Shelby call Cracker Barrel management or what uh yeah if he knows any waitresses anything we we could use all the help we could get so you were uh so I I'm I'm I'm already hearing this because I saw you in Norman this year and you were smoing with all the bar owners I mean what what's what is happening to that SEC podcast don't tell me you're going as commercial as the fine bomb show well we we'll take any any offer sent our way Paul the problem is we just don't get offers sent our way so uh yeah literally we we are begging and pleading for anything we can get but speaking of Norman I'll be there once again for the Tennessee game those people treated me so will I I want to be there when they play their first conference game yeah no it was it was fun to watch and by the way I'm I'm I don't have any investment in this although I could um but but I think for for bar owners and restaurant owners around the SEC having brat and and cousin Shane will will do wonders for well primarily I don't know about your business but I mean these two will certainly eat a lot good for business yeah sh Shane is is uh banned from several local buffets he's yet to be banned we we actually have found a all you can eat food challenge fried steak chicken type deal so we're going to be doing that in Norman can't wait for it when you guys go into a place what do you do you do your show how do you how do you do it uh well I try to get cousin Shane to to be as productive as possible and that is always the plan but his plan is is much different than mine I'm trying to run a business he's trying to drink as much beer as he can eat as much food as he can and and we generally get no work done we just have a good time one last question before we get to the SEC is uh is your dad still a Norman I mean he I mean I went into a restaurant that night he was talking to the the waitress and uh you know giving her a car I mean I I saw him give cards up and down the strip there I just want to make sure he got home okay yeah he had again he had such a good time himself Paul he's the one that that is behind this whole Norman trip he said for his birthday that's all he wants to go back to Norman to watch Tennessee play so uh hopefully he gets to reconnect with all those waitresses he was hitting on listen Michael I I I won't ask you the you know we we've all we all do a lot of podcast and and you know it's a five six seven questions I won't I won't I won't go down that road with you but I mean what what what's percolating in your in your mind what's moving the needle right now as we get close to the season well I I'm just so curious Paul because this is the time of year right now everybody's on Cloud9 everybody's undefeated we're all going to go to the college football playoff there's probably about eight or nine SEC teams that or at least they're fans that realistically think they're going to make the college football playoff and we just know it's not going to happen so I'm being optimistic myself uh your producer just told me not to talk about Billy Napier so I won't even go there but uh you you understand you understand this we're doing our first Friday show in in Gainesville and we want we don't want to be answering questions all afternoon from Scott strickle and Billy Napier and and it would start something like why did you have M Michael Bratton on your show two weeks ago like I said Paul Florida's undefeated right now they're feeling good they're they're they're doing well in recruiting they have a top 30 class that's that's about 14th in the right now so things are going well right now for them but again if they lose that game it's not going to be I saw your you were quoting Danny Sheridan last night about Florida right right uh yeah the great Danny shared I mean again that this his line but not mine but he said you don't even have to uh be a climate denier to know that Billy napers is on the hottest seat in the country that again that's Danny Sheridan's words not mine have you ever had Danny on your podcast he he would he he might burn your your podcast down oh yeah yeah we've had him on the show he one time was enough I think for him okay yeah he uh I I don't know if I I I I mean you I get but I think uh Danny looking at cousin Shane that might that might not not go well with him yeah and funny enough Shane that that is his last name Sheridan so that's I think that's how we got Danny on the show is he uh possibly Danny's illegitimate son is that possible well I think that I think it's very possible Paul and and in fact growing up we used to tell people we were related to him because he was the most famous handicapper in the country so uh we we may have fabricated that a time or two okay so other than Billy Napier um who else do you think maybe has their their hopes up a little bit too high right now and I know you're a big fan Paul but I I I'm looking right at Brian Kelly and LSU because I think a year from now we're going to be saying they completely wasted Jaden Daniels and that insane Heisman season he had can LSU duplicate that success and have another 10- win season I don't think that they can given the losses they had given how pathetic they were on defense so that that's one opening night Southern Cal everybody anticipates LSU to win they haven't won an opening game since 2019 I I think that's the team that could be facing the most heat after week one who do you think is being undervalued right now undervalued in the SEC uh probably Texas A&M and they're another one they they host Notre Dame college game day is going to be there terrific atmosphere Notre Dame for some reason Paul's preseason in top 10 uh that usually that usually lasts about two weeks doesn't it but uh if A&M can knock Notre Dame off I think the the Aggy hype train that Mike Elko is is trying to keep keep quiet right now I think it'll start to build up immediately talking to Michael Bratton in honor of Larry who will be talking to you in a few minutes uh kayln dbor uh you you you know the show uh I mean it's been a battle fans or are just not I mean they understand that Nick Sabin is gone but nothing else according to most of our callers has changed agree well it's changed for me Paul because I was calling it The decaying Dynasty last year uh so I I think going from Tommy Reese to kayin deard there's there's literally not a bigger upgrade in in coaching in all the SEC probably the country so Alabama I think is going to make the college football playoff and uh in honor of Larry Paul I'll go so far as to say Alabama's going to beat Georgia in Tuscaloosa and if I'm wrong I'll send Larry another case of beer to to down his Sorrows I think he's going to be pretty happy with that prediction um what why why do you why do you say that most people think Georgia looks pretty unbeatable right well Kirby Smart can't beat Alabama that's that's the CH the main reason why I believe he's one and five it's in tuscalo so I think Alabama's going to be playing with house money for that game everybody's going to be picking Georgia just like you said I think Georgia missed a huge window last year to to win three in a row probably should have probably would have beaten Michigan Florida State whoever they had to play in the college football playoff and and I I'm wondering if Georgia is just not as a elite on the line of scrimmage like they were the the two seasons they won the National Championship Carson Beck may be the best player best quarterback in the country but the SEC is all about the line of scrimmage I I think there's a chance Georgia is slipping before our eyes talking to Michael Bratton a couple more quick hitters here before we get to uh the star of the show Larry um Michael uh you mentioned miss a minute ago are you buying uh what what the Miss people are selling right now are they a playoff team as long as Lane wiffin finally delivers in a big game yeah I mean I think Old Miss not only should uh factor in for the SEC Championship all I think they should factor in for the national championship I think they're they have that quality of a roster but I still I I question Pete Golding I know he's not a a favorite of of this show uh I question lane kein lane whiffin as I call him in these big games it's going to come down to LSU Oklahoma Georgia they've got to win at least one of them if they don't then Lane kein is the biggest bust in all of college football because he's got the roster to get it done so uh I've said it before on your show Paul I I don't think there's a coach that that's facing more pressure to deliver on a big stage than Lane keif in this season and so do you think they will absolutely I I think they will and again I I think they'll they'll make the final four they may even win the national championship okay well I'm glad to hear that Missouri another one of those who getting a lot of run yeah Missouri is another one they should make the college football playoff now I don't I don't think they can win it like I do Old Miss but uh everything sets up perfectly Brad not to interrupt you got Alabama in the playoffs you got Miss in the playoffs Missouri in the playoff I'm I'm assuming you have in the playoffs right and that's probably the cut off so uh it leads me to ask obviously you're you're down on LSU but what about Texas hook them they're they're not the big 12 anymore Paul they're in the SEC I I'm not buying all the hype I don't I don't get all that I do not believe Steve sarkeesian is an elite play caller I do not believe he's an elite head coach he had three three games last year that uh he faced a team with equal Talent he went one and two in those football games it was just everyone paid attention to the one he won so I I think that'll be more the case this SE when he's in the SEC coach and against teams that are equal Talent so no I I don't think there's any shot Texas makes the college football playoff oh my goodness any shot uh I tell you what we'll do uh we're going
