what what's coming for him I'm really excited to see different type of football that they're going to play SOA City what we did last year we could do it again it'll definitely be a challenge but it'll be good for us it's a big game for us and I'm sure it's a big game for them as well they're ready to to play for something and get a chance to hit somebody else oh yeah we are back and we're back in a big time way not only does the 2024 High School football season get rolling tonight but this fall marking the 30th anniversary of our show the Highlight Zone over three decades we've brought Friday Night Lights to your living room as Fort Wayne's number one sports show and this season it's going to be no exception we've got 20 games to get to here in week one and no better place to start than with Josh aan and your highlight Z game of the week Josh no uh no kidding Glenn we'll call it a delightful dozen last year the nights winning their 12 State title in program history by bringing home a two-way State Crown now this fall they're actually going to make the jump up to class 3A so a week one Showdown against a Leo program that made to semi-state last year and 4ay pretty good barometer for both sides Leo at lures your Highlight Zone game of the week to luris fi we go the knights are ready to rock pun fully intended right there meanwhile Leo led by Miami Hurricanes commit two-way star Brock shot and you can't write a better start than this if you're the Lions first drive of the game that is Grayson es Scara new QB to a veteran in Landon Hepner and the Army commit marching in for a touchdown as Leo takes an early 7even nothing lead but oh baby we are just getting started Leo with that lead 7 nothing heading into the second half and what a way for lures to kick off half touchdown down 17-13 and how about ja Keller folks former Bishop L Knight turned Leo lion putting the lions in front for good as Leo able to close the door from there and turn out the light winning 20 to 17 coming out we were very um aggressive and really it's about uh teamwork and my boys nothing without them you know and we've been grinding all all season so we're about to get ready for the next one many people think that we F fell off because we lost a lot of seniors but we have Juniors sophomores and some freshmen ready to just step up and take their spots that was a great High School football game and we were lucky to come out on top you know sometimes those games go either way and we've been on the other end of those games and uh just happy to get out of here with a win Leo's at in goolan Next Friday while lures hits the road to face New Haven Glen take it away all right from from one reigning state champ to another Snider won the 5A title last fall the Panthers open this season against the 6A Powerhouse more in central all defense in the first half that's Brandon Logan who's going to play uh college baseball and football yeah at Notre Dame he's pretty good SNY recovers but it was 0 after one there's Craig young the Indianapolis Colt watching this one as it was played at Wayne Stadium second quarter l if fry going to play college baseball at IU apparently can play a little footy as well he gets the interception right there again keeping this game scoreless but Damen Shanklin you may have heard of him he's one of the top recruits of the state of Indiana going to play college football at LSU he gets the interception here this game nil nil at the half and unfortunately for Snider fans they would not get on the scoreboard in this one they fall the Warren Central 15 zip to open the season Carol also kicking off It season against an indie area power the Char Char is hosting Hamilton southeaster and things looking good pretty early dant green lost in the pack but guess what he hasn't lost his Direction the Carrol standout going down the sideline deep into hsse territory into the Red Zone there later on the drive why do give it to Nate Starks he punches it in for the touchdown and that knots it at s all but after that HSC starting to impose its will the Royals are good folks not a surprise Azariah Wallace hits pay dirt and HSC up 21 to7 more from the royals dougd and doesn't love to see it it's Wallace again as HSC wins at Carrol 4521 Concordia went 0 last season but they had only three seniors on that roster Cadets have 15 seniors this year as they get rolling against Indianapolis C Cena and it showed up early in the second quarter it's Riley ripy Off the Strip sack fumble recovery from Mr ripy and well Concordia was actually up seven zip at that point more from Concordia they go to the air Avery cook one of the more dangerous receivers in the sa and cook stirring the pot with the touchdown reception it's 13 zzip Concordia now Cina you knew they wouldn't go away you're going to see Luke McDonald for Cen Rush this touchdown in to get them on the board but Concordia already more wins than last season the fighting manles up in Butler but eventually East Side would take air of business the final in this one 25 for the Blazers just 11 for the Warriors lton coming off a 10- win season the Tigers playing their home opener in Burn because of construction at their home field and well they felt right at home from the get-go this is second quarter action when camell Moore The Talented Junior with a touchdown 13 to zip bluon in the lead and then who else but Mr Moore with him and Cooper Craig in that back field kind of a onew punch it's going to be scary for blu's opponents it's 20 zip after that touchdown and then you going to see Aaron strer with a touchdown reception axon best tossing it up and in for six Lon wins this one over Blackhawk 39- six at the swamp in lrange Lakeland led by quarterback Braden hook right there the junior Holbrook already has a D1 offer from the Miami Red Hawks the Harvard of the Midwest how about Braden Holbrook to M miles Edwards for the touchdown in the first quarter to make it seven zip Lake Show then it's some defense from the guys in the powdered blue Ken a royal he's known for catch and touchdown passes on offense apparently can play some DB as well he takes it all
