coach uh six guys that listed at Edge on the depth chart that was released Monday uh we saw those guys all kind of battle throughout fall Camp yeah just what have you seen from kind of that position group and you know kind of the first time in a while you've really had true competition there uh you know with RJ and BJ gone yeah man it's been really good it's been really good first off I have a great room uh they're they're all talented they're all great kids on and off the football field so for us it's always good to have competition CU that means you have really good depth uh when you come out of it so I think that's where we're at right now does it feel like that kind of each guy had brings their own unique skill set obviously Nu's got some of the speed Eddie's got some of the power just kind of as examples does it feel like they all compliment each other pretty well absolutely absolutely like you just talked about man they're all talented but in their own way they all bring different things to the table some of it is in the Run game some of it's pass rushing some of it's combination of both uh which is really good but they've been really good for each other as far as competing and getting feedback from each other so they do a good job coaching each other up what have you seen out of some of the young guys guys like Camden guys like Malachi kind of their first uh go around here of practic what have you seen out of them do you know what it's funny so I I watched film when we first got him here in the summer right and I just kind of compared to where where I saw him now and they were terrible and they were terrible right just not not talent-wise just trying to learn new things right they looked at a place uh bunch of baby deers but they're going to be really good they're going to be really good where they're at today compared to where we got them early in the summer uh they're going to be special so I'm excited about those guys with uh new joining your room uh Eddie playing a little bit of interior as well I'm curious like how that versatility kind of comes together and how those guys kind of pull that off man it's just you know the good thing about how Pete and I train these guys it's very similar right so when we ask Eddie to go play some DET tacle uh to build some depth in there you know there's not a drop off as far as the knowledge and the technique that we're teaching over here so uh block destruction is the same for us the mentality is the same so it just allows us to have uh more people that we can move inside and outside to cause problems for the o line I was looking at pictures of the last time you guys played Portland State and I saw a picture of a wi he was here when you guys obviously played them in what like 3 years ago for him to like kind of stay a staple in that room for as long as he has what does that kind of say about him you know that's what he brings to the table he brings a lot of experience and knowledge uh that a lot of these guys actually feed off of because he's been in the fight for a long time so we actually watch that game and him and Eddie are both on on film playing uh since they're a freshman so it's refreshing to have those guys in there um coach just talk a little bit about some of the wrinkles that you have to put in uh for Portland State what kind of challenges they uh they bring to you guys they're really good man they they bring uh multiple formations uh they had a lot of different backs different style backs uh quick speed powerful running backs their quarterback is special he's a dual threat guy he can throw the football but he man we got to cage this guy he's going to be a problem so we got our hands full these guys are coached very well uh and they they got a pass of just upsetting teams uh on the big stage and so for us we can't take anything lightly they're going to give us everything that that they got and that's what we need to expect um you got a lot of veterans on that dline but also a lot of young guys uh first game is it more about calming the nerves of those guys or is it about hyping them up do you know what that the training right now is really to calm the mind right so I I talk to these guys about straining their body right now so it calms their mind for game day so for us game day has already started you know what I mean so all these practices are getting us ready really to to execute what we need to get done come Saturday
