REPORT: Jordan Addison's Ankle Injury "Pretty Significant", Availability for Week 1 Up in the Air

[Music] what's going on Dres Miss toied Vikings draft at Jordan Addison uh in the first round last year and he had a very solid rookie season 70 catches for 911 yards 10 touchdowns and all of the other hype went to the other rookie receivers blah blah blah Z flowers blah blah blah jsn blah blah blah Quinton Johnson blah blah blah Rashi rice blah blah blah puka okay puka is Justified uh but what's amazing is that Addison put up these numbers with four different freaking quarterbacks as well as Justin Jefferson missing the bulk of the middle of the season now yes Addison did get more targets during the middle of the year than he would have if Jefferson was there but also Addison was getting wide receiver one coverage quarterback ones uh safety up over the top which he wouldn't have gotten with JJ uh in the fold and uh Jefferson Addison looking to form the best wide receiver du in the National Football League and Addison I mean before all all the stuff all the off the field stuff for the second offseason in a row like on the field Jordan Addison has been Dynamite he's added muscle uh he looks tougher and like he he he looks like he's ated strength without sacrificing speed uh his routes are somehow even more crisp even though he's one of the best route runners in the game and was looking really damn good in Camp also really important developing some early chemistry with sling and Sam darnold uh number three had been a favorite Target for 14 throughout the bulk of training camp and was just looking really damn good but unfortunately last week at joint practices uh he got his ankle rolled up on a Browns DB just sort of landed awkwardly on his foot and was carded off and we Vikings fans were in a glass cage of emotion because same day as JJ McCarthy uh undergoing a full miniscus repair out for the season then all of a sudden it looked like the Vikings lost Addison but oconnell at the time uh said this quote heel Jordan Addison uh work through the rehab process and we look forward to getting him back as fast as possible conell said after the second of two joint practices against Browns I don't see him missing any extended time or anything like that so although it was just like a routine soreness with JJ McCarthy not g to let that one go it's the new Zimmer tweak uh but the whole thing about is that he sprained his ankle on August 14th now it it hasn't been the dreaded high ankle sprain haven't seen that reported uh anywhere out there but he would have 26 days to get that thing as right as possible for the SE before the September 8th opener against the New York football Giants in New Jersey uh and then update from Darren dugie Wilson from Vikes fan page uh Jordan Addis is dealing with a pretty significant ankle sprain That Could set him back for at least another week or two uh duy mentioned outs score North wolson doesn't think Addison will be 100% for week one's matchup against the Giants assuming he plays now it's important to note that oconnell and Company uh you know right or wrong like they don't generally Trot out players until they're at or near 100% % right and you saw this with Jefferson uh you're going to see this with TJ Hockinson is that hey we're not going to roll you out at 70% just to have you be a decoy or anything like that is a truly a next bandup mentality now that obviously would change if it was a high leverage game like um you know late in the season fighting for a playoff SW or the playoffs or the Super Bowl but uh you week one against the Giants it's a long ass season uh obviously it would be great to have Addison out there but if Addison's ankle is still dinged up and you run the risk of reinjury and something that can linger throughout the entire season I I I don't see oconnell and Company just rolling him out there like that and the Vikings uh pass catching depth right now so beyond Jefferson and Addison Jaylen Speedy Naylor has been doing some really good things in Camp and preseason uh Jefferson has hyped him up said that speedy speedy speedy is going to surprise a lot of people and Tristian Jackson Brandon Powell have had themselves some great uh pre-seasons as well so and also even though the Vikings are likely going to be without TJ hackinson for the beginning of the Season you do have Oliver and Mt and Nick Muse could step up plus they got Aaron Jones and Tai Chandler out of the backfield so even though obviously it would suck to not have Addison the first game or two uh it would be better to get him to 100% even though the Vikings wouldn't have hackinson potentially uh up through week seven uh when they play the lions at home but everything's still up in the air uh but obviously getting Addison as right as possible and making sure this this doesn't linger throughout the season uh him and Jefferson again best wide receiver do in the National Football League uh that would be the name of the game but your thoughts on our thoughts nailed it uh uh
