It's Draft Day! Episode 1: Yahoo Fantasy Football Keeper League Draft

Intro [Music] how's everybody doing today welcome to the inaugural episode of King of the Hill Sports this is the channel where I will personally be mulling over my fantasy teams talking about my drafts answering questions that anybody might have going over my sleepers my waivers and teaching you how you could win your fantasy football leagues over the last three seasons I have two championships I came in first place in my league in points for two years in a row in a different League I've finished top three in about five of the last six seasons last year I had a team go undefeated right up until the last week before everything ended in disaster this is going to be an outlet for myself where I could kind of maul over everything that I'm going to go through throughout the season but also that I could take other people in with me and hopefully give them a sense of how to move forward with their leagues and what are some smart moves to make because I've read some advice from other people out there and there are a lot of dumb people out there who really want to lead you asay first things first I had my first It's Draft Day fantasy football draft of the Season Tuesday after the first preseason weekend which I think was way too soon to have a re real draft now mind you this is also a keeper league so it's a very different style draft than most others that you might be in it's an yahu it's half-point PPR and I think we should start off by going over some of the keepers that people had taken round one like I said The Keepers this is a keeper League Tyreek kill is the first overall pick in this league as you can see Keepers Christian mcaffrey and Justin Jefferson got kept with first round picks but at the bottom of the first round good picks good value there I mean Justin Jefferson at this rate is kind of dropping down the first round so the value might not be there as much as it was two weeks ago Derrick Henry is kept at the early second round pick I mean that's about where he's going not a great keeper again if you ask me Bree Hull in the third crazy Keeper at this point since he's going as a top five pick most places there's another Jamar Chase in the fourth round now Jamar Chase and CD lamb being kept with a fourth round pick and a sixth round pick now this is because in this league it's designed where every year that you keep them they move up one round each time which we're thinking about changing that to two rounds because at this point this guy's going to have CD lamb for four years and it's only for a sixth round pick Isaiah Pacho in the fifth round Jamar Chase now where is my keeper is I'm sure that's what everybody wants to know right the burning question who did I keep James Conor with an eighth not mine and again not a bad one I mean honestly J Conor's probably going a little early James Cook in the eighth not bad here I am Z flowers 10th round now he's going as like a fifth rounder just right about that's value he's not the best player in terms of keeping but I just go for value for my Keepers again keeping him with a 10th round pick this here if he has a really good year I keep him again next year for a ninth unless we change it and even then it's only going to be an eighth uh some others don't cancade in the 10th and I believe there's one wild one that I'm really upset I didn't get this player last year cuz I wanted them Sam leaport with a 13th round pick now that is a good keeper I remember I wanted to draft Sam lorta last year I got him in all of my leagues last year another reason why you should listen to me draft Sam La pora I knew he was going to be a good pick last year I grabbed him in the late rounds of all of my drafts but clearly this guy was also smart and I'm pretty sure I wanted to draft him like the next round and this guy reached by drafting Sam o pora in the 13th or 14th round last year whenever he did it now that we know that all these players are missing round one Round One starts with Tyreek kill and a monra s Brown crazy way to start this is also very hard to mock draft for having the keepers removed along with your pick so it's tough to gauge who's going to be there when it's to our pick now you could see who got taken Tyreek am manra Bean Garrett Wilson fourth I mean that's that's not bad Jonathan Taylor very early AJ Brown puka nakua seventh overall sequin barley Travis Kelce Travis Kelce in the first round now my pick Kiren Williams do you know who had the most touches per game among running backs last season not Christian mcaffrey it was Kiron Williams I'm not worried about Blake Korum I'm only worried about Blake Korum if Kiron Williams gets injured you'll see later on I didn't get Blake Corum as a handcuff which I kind of wanted to do I think Christian McCaffrey's workload might get a little bit reduced again this year as he's getting older and he has been injury-prone in the past I trust Kiron to potentially have the most touches per game among running backs again this season now going forward mcaffry and Justin Jefferson I kind of like this actually because then that meant there was really only two picks before my next pick now what I didn't Round Two expect was Marvin Harrison and Drake London to be the two guys to go off the board here again there was so many wide receivers taken already between the keepers and the first round picks I don't like going running back heavy in all of my other leagues I go wide receiver wide receiver first unless things fall poorly for me in which case I would or fall good I guess you know depending on who's around I like going wide receiver wide receiver unless the circumstances are right but in Yahoo Half Point PPR Devonte Adams was there I kind of needed a wide receiver one but in Half Point PPR I don't trust Devonte Adams as much I feel like he is a Workhorse he's a targets machine he'll get a lot of catches he has Garner menu throwing to him this year which I think is a better situation than he was in last year but I still don't really like Devonte here so I honestly I surprised jir Gibbs fell to me in the second round of this draft I'll take Kiron Williams and jir Gibbs I'm a little bit worried about Jamir Gibbs hamstring you know David Montgomery is going to get all the goal line work but Jamir Gibbs should get plenty of Rush attempts this year he's definitely going to touch the ball more than he did last season and he had a good season last season with very limited touches I last year I think it was like a 50/50 split momery and Gibbs this year could move more up like 6040 Gibbs having the 60 in this case this is where things start to Round Three unravel for me a little bit round three I wanted my wide receiver one in round three who Falls to me I'm watching DK mattf I like DK a lot this year I feel like DK you can trust DK is the number one there I feel like jsn and lockett's definitely on the decline I think it's like DK number one jsn number two lock at number three this year solid I trust DK's floor he gets picked with the pick right before me of course he does that's how things always work out now I a Ravens fan as you could tell by this whole Channel probably I take Lamar Jackson I have my two running backs I do like Joe Mixon this year I don't want to third running back yet Devonte Smith I mean they didn't even make the trade for Jan doson yet but even I don't just behind just behind AJ Brown alone I'm not the biggest fan of Devonte [Music] Smith Michael Pitman yeah I mean you'll see where things shake out here but also you'll also see I took Lamar Jackson over Jaylen herdz and Patrick Mahomes I'm a Ravens fan I wanted Lamar Z flowers was my ER I have my stack there and also I think Derk Henry being on the team this year opens everything up for the Ravens this is the best running back that they've had if you were afraid of Lamar running before be even more afraid of Lamar running now that the threat of Derk Henry is there in the back field and it should also open up more room for the wide receivers love Gus Edwards I'm a Ravens fan I also want to Ruckers I'm not going to talk about Ray Rice right now Gus bus also a Rucker Alum love the guy he's not Derrick Round Four Henry I start the run there goes Jaylen Herz there goes Patrick Mahomes now this is what I'm not too happy about Stefan Diggs is my wide receiver one I know a lot of people hate Stefan Diggs this year I Don't Love Stefan digs this year but I don't hate him nearly as much as other people now what I'm expecting I think Stefan digs is going to be in the slot this year you have tank Dell and nio Collins on the outside you have your two burners I expect Stefan digs just to be in there running little Slants be a slant boy get some catches again it's half Point PPR it's a fourth round pick this time I already have Z flowers he's my wide receiver too Stefan Diggs not my favorite wide receiver one this is one of the things I don't love about my team because also who else could I have to Amari Cooper Amari Cooper with DeShawn Watson at quarterback we'll throw the stats up around here somewhere not the biggest fan Trey McBride Mark Andrews I'm not going taking a tight end that early Kyler round five not bad KD goes Kamar Round Five goes I do like Kamar this year simply because Kendra Miller is not going to touch the ball that much in New Orleans George pickings o now again this is where I was think I wanted this would have been my third wide receiver Keenan Allen keen and Stefan digs two people who are in kind of crowded wide receiver rooms now that I feel like a lot of people are sleeping on they're getting older but they get a lot of volume just like Stefan Diggs then Ken's going to be in there in the slot in the preseason so far for the Bears two wide receiver sets Ken all's wide receiver too behind DJ Moore it's DJ Mo and Kenan Allen but then once the three wide receiver sets comes in romad dun has been running as the other outside wide receiver Keenan Allen is in the slot I take Aaron Jones round five now I don't hate it I don't love it I do draft Ty Chandler much later on as a handcuff for this but I think Aaron Jones will get a lot of receiving volume on this offense as a running back this year simply because they have Justin Jefferson Jordan Addison and that's about it TJ hackinson is going to miss the first six weeks or so of the year there's going to have to be some more balls to go around I think Aaron Jones gets a decent amount of catches in this off ense with Sam darnold throwing now which I think also bodess well for Aaron Jones maybe they run the ball a little bit more maybe they dump the ball down a little bit more here's what you have to do in Heart of the Cards Moment fantasy it's all about heart you have to believe in your team and then they believe in you as much as you don't like your team after you draft it you stare at that team and you convince yourself that you like those players I love Aaron Jones I love having Stefan digs as my number one wide receiver just keep telling yourself that that and eventually you're going to love your team and your team will return the favor for you trust me works every year Round Six Deontay Johnson is another guy that I love this year actually Ravens fan hate the Steelers hated Deontay Johnson the last few years but I love him on Carolina this year think the volume that Adam Thiel got last year with a rookie Bryce young now second season Bryce Young Adam thel's getting older I think he gets phased out I think they are going to want to feed the ball to Deontay Johnson Dave Canales new head coach he was the offensive coordinator in Tampa last year you saw that Tampa offense last year Dave Canales helped Baker Mayfield have a Resurgence Baker Mayfield looked great last year he's going to want Bryce young to look good and I think part of Bryce young looking good is just feeding Deontay Johnson getting him the ball as quick as possible and let Deontay work I think he's going to have a great year again Dave Canal offense Chris Godwin consideration don't hate him don't love him we're going to move right on down Round Seven now to round seven where I get Tai J Spears last year I was a Tai J Spears truther this year I remained a Tai J Spears truther last year he was basically in a 50-50 split with Derk Henry now was Tony Pard as good as Derrick Henry I don't think so I think that the Tennessee Titans are going to want to pass the ball a lot more again this year as good as Tony Pard is as a receiving running back I think tyj Spears is better I think Tai Spears is more explosive we'll see how things shake out I'm a Tai truther still I needed a tight end I took Tai here Round Eight thinking one of these other tight ends would fall to me I was like oh there's Evan Ingram Jake Ferguson and David nooku left David nooku is probably my least favorite of the three again the Cleveland downfall of the Watson Deshawn Watson's no Joe flacko folks deshaan Watson's no Joe flacko it's as simple as that David njoku is not going to have as good of a season as he did last year neither is Amari Cooper now I drafted David N joku again you know what I think he's going to get a lot of touchdowns this year that's my bet I wanted Jake Ferguson I wanted Evan Ingram I ended up with David nooku I love David nooku let's move forward a Last Round... Next Years Keeper? few moments later my last round pick that's going to be a potential keeper for next year this is just a guess so the Johnson baby on the Giants maybe it's because I watched hardx but also it's because uh Waller's gone and what he has to compete with Daniel Bellinger Theo Johnson was a fourth round pick I think they picked him there for a reason I think they lean on these two rookie wide receivers because the Giants have had the same wide receiving core for like four or five years I think it's time they mix things up Juan Dale's okay Jaylen Hyatt's okay I think these two rookies are better than anything else that they have Here's the final Draft Recap team again at first don't love it Stefan Diggs wide receiver one the joku Aaron Jones essentially at my Flex also to know Sunday night game Monday game always put that player in your Flex folks you should know why by now he's already questionable if he doesn't play I actually don't have anybody that I could put in anyway at this point but still that's why you put them in your flux maybe I could drop some no that's not even going to happen anyway here's how the team shook out as a Ravens fan obviously I love it I think there's potential there I think I could have two top eight running backs I think Deontay Johnson could be a top 20 wide receiver I think all three of my wide receiver have a path where they could finish as top 20 guys Lamar could finish as the number one quarterback we're looking at the positives here Aaron Jones could be a top 15 running back nooku I mean he had 900 yards and six touchdowns last year he's Deshawn wat as his quarterback this year whatever I I can't believe I drafted a brown you know let me know comment down below if Outro there's anybody you think I could have picked to improve my team who are some sleepers that you like this year what are some bad takes that I have or I'm completely off base that I will prove you wrong about at the end of the year because I'm a champ baby I'm the king of the hill do you want to be one do you want to be a king you could be the king too there's only one king though baby it's me anyway I'm uh I'm at mods this was King of the Hill episode one [Music] uh as I have three other drafts coming up this is my keeper league on Yahoo I'm the commissioner of a league that is very competitive that's run for about 15 years that's League where I've won the championship in two the last three years and led the league in points for two the last three years but it is very competitive trust me I have that draft coming up after Labor Day weekend next week on Tuesday I have an auction League Draft that we will go over and I'm commissioning a guillotine League this year 18 team draft three wide receiver slots teams are going to be very thin at the beginning something else to talk about my wife is in a couple of these leagues we could get a woman's perspective on these I'm Matt mods this is King of the Hill Sports and we are on to the next week where we'll take a look at a couple more drafts in different types of leagues that I'm in and that potentially you might want to be in too down the road signing out
