A LOT OF PEOPLE YELLING, SCREAMING, RUNNING. >> WITNESSES DESCRIBE THE SCENE AFTER A 14 YEAR OLD DIED IN A SHOOTING AT THE MICHIGAN STATE FAIR IN NOVI, AND ANOTHER TEEN IS RECOVERING AFTER BEING SHOT IN HIS RIGHT LEG. >> THANKS FOR JOINING US. THIS SUNDAY MORNING. >> I'M NICK MONACELLI AND I'M PRIYA MANN. WE FIRST TOLD YOU ABOUT THE SHOOTING DURING LOCAL 4 NEWS AT 11 LAST NIGHT, AND OVERNIGHT WEOT THE HEARTBREAKING UPDATE THAT THE TEEN WHO WAS SHOT HAD DIED. >> WE WANT TO GET OUT TO SHAWNTE PASSMORE THIS MORNING, WHO IS LIVE IN NOVI OUTSIDE OF THE MICHIGAN STATE FAIR, WHERE WE'RE STARTING TO GET SOME MORE DETAILS AND UNDERSTANDING HOW THIS KIND OF PLAYED OUT. GOOD MORNING CHANTEE. >> GOOD MORNING TO BOTH OF YOU. YOU KNOW, IT IS JUST FRIGHTENING TO THINK ABOUT THE SCENES THAT PLAYED OUT YESTERDAY. IN FACT, ALL OF THAT PLAYED OUT REALLY RIGHT WHERE I'M STANDING IN THIS PARKING LOT. POLICE SAY THEY RECEIVED MULTIPLE 911 CALLS JUST BEFORE 10 P.M. LAST NIGHT FOR AN ACTIVE SHOOTER, BUT THEY QUICKLY LEARNED THAT WASN'T THE CASE. WE'RE LEARNING THE SHOOTING HAPPENED BETWEEN BELL FORKLIFT AND THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF A PARKING LOT. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE SHOOTING BEGAN AS AN ONGOING ISSUE BETWEEN THE INDIVIDUALS BEFORE ENDING IN THE PARKING LOT. WE'RE TOLD THIS WAS NOT A RANDOM FIGHT. AND WHEN FIRST RESPONDERS ARRIVED, THEY FOUND 214 YEAR OLD VICTIMS. AGAIN, ONE TEEN DIED WHILE THE OTHER SUFFERED A SHOT IN THE RIGHT LEG. THEIR CONDITION IS UNKNOWN. THIS MORNING. AND TAKE A LISTEN TO HOW ONE WITNESS DESCRIBES THE TERRIFYING MOMENTS FOLLOWING THE SHOOTING. >> IT WAS ABOUT 10:00 BECAUSE THEY WERE GOING TO SHUT THE GARAGE DOORS. THAT IS USUALLY FROM INSIDE THE FESTIVAL TO OUTSIDE OF THE FESTIVAL, AND THEN THAT'S WHEN THEY SHUT IT AT TEN, AND EVERYBODY STARTED RUSHING IN THROUGH THOSE DOORS AND RUNNING. AT FIRST, I DON'T THINK MANY PEOPLE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HAD HAPPENED, BECAUSE THEY WERE JUST KIND OF RUNNING IN BECAUSE EVERYBODY ELSE WAS RUNNING. AND THEN AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES, THERE WERE KIDS CRYING, COMING IN, FAMILIES THAT WERE SEPARATED, AND PEOPLE CAME UP TO US ASKING TO USE OUR PHONE TO TRY TO FIND THEIR FAMILY. >> YEAH. JUST FRIGHTENING. WE ARE LEARNING THAT THE TWO TEENAGERS APPARENTLY GRABBED A RIDESHARE TO THE FAIR. NOW, NORMALLY, IF YOU'RE UNACCOMPANIED CHILD, YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO BE AT THE FAIR PAST 6 P.M. OF COURSE, THAT WAS THE CASE THAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT. EVERYONE WANTS TO KNOW THIS MORNING. WILL THE FAIR OPEN AS SCHEDULED AT LAST CHECK. WE ARE TOLD THAT THERE ARE TALKS BEING HELD TO SEE IF THAT WILL BE THE CASE OR NOT. IF IT DOES MOVE FORWARD, WE'RE TOLD THAT POLICE WILL BOOST THEIR PRESENCE. LIVE IN NOVI THIS MORNING. SHAWNTE PASSMORE, LOCAL 4. >> YOU KNOW, WE'VE BEEN SEEING SOME OF THE VIDEO OF PEOPLE RUNNING OUT AS SOON AS THEY HEARD EITHER SHOTS FIRED OR KNEW THAT THERE WAS SOME SORT OF SITUATION UNFOLDING OUTSIDE. I THINK THAT JUST ADDS TO THE FEAR. AND IT'S SUCH A LARGE PLACE. YOU KNOW, THAT FACILITY IS HUGE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE 901 CALLS COMING IN. >> A LOT OF PEOPLE THINKING IT WAS AN ACTIVE SHOOT. THAT FEAR IS GOING TO PERMEATE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FESTIVAL AND THEN AS WE SEE IN THESE THINGS, THE TRUTH ALWAYS COMES OUT. BUT WHEN YOU NEVER KNOW, YOU DON'T KNOW IN THAT MOMENT. >> SADLY, A 14 YEAR OLD HAS DIED AND ANOTHER TEENAGER REMAINS IN THE HOSPITAL. ALL RIGHT, SHANTE, WE'LL CHECK BACK IN WITH YOU IN JUST A FEW MOMENTS.
