season opened all it takes is a big toe that could be the difference in a win or not so when you fly 10 hours when you go to Brazil when you're playing on Turf that doesn't make any sense go snap the dub we'll get into the Jaylen Herz angle we'll get into some of the other things that we saw on defense Zack Bon and all that and and the Kobe Dean and him dropping a pick six potentially but reality going to be a heavy reaction morning here as I take you up until 6:00 a.m. 34-29 saquan Barkley is a beast holy hell is that man something all right I saw a lot of good out of my sanders I saw a lot of good at a DeAndre Swift for a very short amount of time when he was here saquon's different sequan is different and if you're a New York Giants fans you got to be kicking yourself and you got to be wondering what are we doing here we're allowing that man to drive down 95 to head into the Nova Care complex every single day and he's just going to walk through multiple different touchdowns The Unbelievable catch was ridiculous to start things off for his first touchdown of the day and how about when he's one-on-one with a Defender and he makes an outstanding cut to his Right the dude is just getting in the end zone nonstop he's running for over a 100 yards he's a threat in the past game too I'm almost lost for words and guess what I've been watching him play for years knowing how big those thighs were and how big those tree trunks were on his legs but when you get to see it in your own uniform something different about it something different about it look at all the skill position players today the big dogs that is AJ Brown Insanity to start the second half with a monster tutty Devonte Smith in the fourth quarter when you needed a drive to put things away safe option reliable put it in the Bread Basket he's going to make the place and then of course Sean there were actually sometimes I thought they were getting a little too cute and I said' what are we doing can we get back to the basics Feed the Beast feed number 26 please because he's taking this game over why are we trying other things now whether that's just Jaylen Herz and he's reading the defense and going with some options and decides to keep it which he couldn't really get going all game long I thought the Packers did a good job of stuffing him the only time it was noticeable where he made an impact with his legs off the top of my head of course was in the fourth on that long sustained Drive where he lowered his shoulder and he moved the chains as he carried a couple fellas with him trying to take him down but for the most part I thought Green Bay did a good job of taking that element out of the offense and that's something we are going to need to see get better and get cleaner as Kell Moore gets a hand on this offense but you got to remember they don't play in the preseason anymore so obviously the first few snaps and the first few offensive possessions will probably be ugly that's what we witnessed so just because we saw some of the deficiencies and the issues here in week one as I predict this team getting on the right path and starting to clean some of this glaring holes up I expect it four five six weeks down the road to be different with Cam Jurgens and Jaylen Herz and the connectivity of snapping the football in the hands it better get better I don't know how much five pre preseason snaps would have been you know in game one or game two of the preseason weeks ago I don't know how much of an impact that would have made so I'm not going to sit here and bang on the table that I demanded Nick serani to get them reps in preseason because I don't know how much that would have really changed things Nick serani believe it or not for all the flaws and for how much he pisses me off his winning record in early stages of seasons have been pretty reliable so if there's one area that I can actually give him some praise it's that one so I'll let that slide as they have to work out the Kinks Jaylen too reading defenses very mixed bag for me in jayen Herz and I do want to get your thoughts out there at 215 592 9494 because I see a lot of different words being thrown around for the quarterback I'm having a difficult time figuring out where I am as I am clearly absorbing all of the information we just watched in Brazil as we sit here currently I believe I feel more positive than not I do love his good stuff out of this game but one of the reasons why he was miserable last season if we're being honest was his turnovers and he probably could have had two more interceptions on the night the long sustained Drive in the fourth that I already referenced as two thumbs up it could have been a pick if AJ Brown didn't play amazing defense as an offensive player to knock the ball out of the DB's hands and then don't even get me started on what could have been a fumble right at the end zone there with the game on the line with the push tush or a tush push attempt and that was a fumble there it could have been more turnovers than it was right before he threw the interception In The End Zone trying to play herob ball One play before he almost got picked off on the left side of the field so there were definite horrendous horrendous decision-making moments out of Jaylen but there were some really sharp things at the same time I just can't imagine him making that many boneheaded decisions once he cleans up his act like I almost feel that maybe the first pick on Third and 15 when he throws over the middle and was it mcken who picked it off I'm not necessarily sure if that's going to be a common theme for Jaylen as the season continues if so we don't have the quarterback then I think he is I believe deep down that he's sharper than that so I almost wonder if it's just getting a few game reps under his belt before he realiz that that's not a play that he can force or that's not something that he can do this is him figuring it out on the Fly until he gets comfortable in real game action again that's what I'm thinking and once again if I'm wrong then of course jaylen's not the quarterback that I thought he was but I think he is the quarterback that I think he is that's why I'm taking the positives out of it that throw to saquan Barkley and even the one to start the second half to AJ Brown that's lethal stuff when there's seven minutes left in the game and you have a couple point lead and you can continue to churn the clock isn't that relatable to what we saw in 20122 when the team went to the Super Bowl and was a dynamic group they kept the other team on the sidelines holding their helmet waiting to get on the field and they couldn't because you wore down the clock so whether the addition of saquon Barkley helps that out on top of Jaylen hitting Devonte Smith in rhythm in a Groove which I thought that was extremely beneficial to the club so mix bag mix bag all around probably makes sense due to the nature of the first game of the season but the most important thing is you won the football game and I can't stress that enough it's a good win it was a good win it's a good start to the season remember last year was so bad that winning this game here you can't start off slow you can't not with how things ended it was important to get off the snide of last season and start the year off strong and while there are some things to nitpick and we will rightfully discuss those there were a lot of positives in this as well it wasn't so bad and so garbage and so terrible and you won it was good mixed with some bad and they won those are two totally different scenarios in my eyes 215 5929 494 so that's where we begin those are sort of my instant thoughts as we prepare for a couple hour program together let's n kick too much but it's like no it's fair Steve it's fair those were bad decisions and don't even get me started on what happened before halime where he took a sack that was very unreasonable so yeah exactly so I don't think Jaylen Herz was his best by any means but I'm almost chalking it up to just the inexperience of playing in the preseason and this is just where the game is like for example I think Jordan Love's a really good quarterback he missed a lot of throws out there as well and I thought he threw behind guys a little bit where there were wide open receivers over the middle of the field and I don't know if it was a lack of comfortability cuz it's game one the emotions are high you're flying to Brazil I don't know how much of it is just early season wo for both of these quarterbacks or are these quarterbacks not what we thought they were I'm not ready to go out on that limb yet well you go to you got to be honest though dude there was probably like three or four different passes to Green Bay receivers where they just dropped it straight up dropped it we got lucky on a few of those sure yeah you know um but with Jaylen Hurst it's just kind of like I'm really really hoping that Kell Moore can just fix him because I won a Kell Moore last year I didn't think much of Brian Johnson obviously I don't think anyone did at that point right but I think Kell Moore I think he's got the creativity I think he can make this def this offense great but I really hope he can fix uh you know the uh the inefficiencies that that that Herz has because man if he can't this is a waste of an offense we've got two of the best receivers a great tight end obviously great offensive line a great running back I mean it's it's it's a waste of talent if they can't get him on the same track and and and not even making the the best plays but just not making boneheaded play I you know I I do Stephen I appreciate the phone call I do I understand it was boneheaded for sure but they did score 34 points at the same time I think it's fair to bring up his deficiencies he was not good today he okay I I feel like that was a strong statement he had moments where he wasn't good to today he also had moments where he was really amazing at the same exact time that's why I call it a mixed bag and we'll continue to react 215 592 9494 what did you see in the win against the Packers in Brazil we got three hours we're rocking together and we are reacting to an Eagles win in Brazil 34-29 a very bizarre game and we're trying to figure out here how should we look at Jaylen after this performance because what I can't do is pretend like all of the good didn't happen that final drive they milked a lot of the clock they did a lot of great things he threw it to Devonte Smith when needed and they got the dub and essentially forc Green Bay to use timeouts brought the clock all the way down the 20 seconds but there's always something that makes you feel a little negative with some of the positives in this result meaning he probably should have thrown thrown another interception in that awesome fourth quarter drive or the fumble at the very end where the Eagles were lucky that they fell right back on the pig skin because who knows you could have given them a weird miraculous chance to do the unthinkable and with all the turnovers that occurred last season and you start the year off doing the same exact thing I get it I get it I totally understand with all of that though he was dropping dimes to saquan In The End Zone he dropped a dime to AJ Brown to start the second half and those throws are extremely important for Jaylen to get back on the MVP style of run that we need him to get back on so it it's a Bonkers one and you're probably going to hear takes that are all over the map because there's so much good and so much bad here's one thing though that really stands out to me Kellen Mo knows what he's doing it is actually embarrassing for Nick serani to go back to some of his previous statements where he mentioned motion being dumb dude I watched motion create a billion opportunities out there I'm not even making that up one billion whether it's Dotson going to his right and he starts to move in motion and that creates all sorts of matchups AJ Brown in his route running it creates a one-on-one situation you got linebackers on on SE I mean this whole thing is Kell Moore understanding scheme Nick didn't understand scheme Nick did not understand scheme I'm watching someone who is legitimately competent at the NFL level and that makes me happy it does let's go to Tom in Alabama good morning Tom yo bro motion creates emotion you know what I'm saying dog it sure does I literally had a smile from ear to ear watching some of the things that Kell Moore dialed up just creativity things that were missing from the offense last season without a doubt man I'll tell you what you were talking about that mixed bag I'll take that last bag that has a w on and head on out the door brother because you know they were all saying I picked Eagles win this game and they came out and it the Packers had them on the ropes and two big points in this game their first two scoring possessions the Packers they settle for field goals the defense bends but doesn't break and then in the third quarter love throws that aant pass where the interception that right there's a turning point in this game and yeah they their players their receivers dropped a lot of passes and this and that but heyy man that's football it's just like baseball you go with the punches and you roll with it and we kept digging we kept fighting we were losing at halftime well guess what sweetie we got a w Fly Eagles Fly that's right Tom no you're right if other teams in baseball I like that you brought up that comparison because if other teams are making errors in the playoffs or something and then the Phillies pounce and hit a three-run homer that would have been a solo shot that's what makes you great is you take advantage when other teams shoot themselves in the foot so in this case if the if the Packers out in Brazil have wide openen passes and they screw it up then good do something about it and you're also very right to point out how the defense handled those early stages Vic fangio earned his paycheck because it could have been 14 nothing it could have been 17 nothing it could have been a lot worse and instead it's 6 nothing and you keep your team in a fight in a dog fight and keeps your offense in a position where you know with a snap of your fingers you can get right back into this football game 6 nothing when it should have been way worse was a massive statement by Vic fangio and the defense and uh weirdly enough you know as as we talk about some of the issues with the defense and I didn't love their rund D at times they did have a crucial part to this victory yeah and I'll tell you as far as Herz goes yeah middle of the road but those three passes the one to Brown the one to Smith and then the first touchdown to Barkley they probably practiced that since they acquired Barkley a thousand times well guess what you got one time to make it right and they got it right and just Barkley was truly a horse tonight you could tell he had a little something extra behind him you know he's got something to prove her has got something to prove we all got something to prove Brody in the end and I'm all about it you know what I'm saying absolutely Tom I appreciate the phone call saywan Barkley is different sayquan Barkley is crazy and we've been insane he was probably running behind maai beckon who I thought at times really did create some nice Lanes a guy who hasn't played Right Guard okay he's a failed first round pick for the New York Jets that was so stuck in his ways of I am going to be a tackle and that is my position and when he realizes that his NFL life is pretty much on life support I have to find a way to keep myself in this league he goes right guard and he's creating these Lanes saquon's probably thinking holy hell I've never seen this much green grass in my life I've never seen this I've never seen an offensive line create so many opportunities ever ever and he's about to have an in insane season because of it no surprise by the way I think we all expected it but once again it's not really about the surprise it's just about actually witnessing it and seeing it with your eyes that makes it a little sweeter because we all could have projected it but seeing it oh it is a chef's kiss he's got three touchdowns he literally he probably should had four he should have had four at the end I would have handed it off I would have had four you want to make the Giants cry tonight big time after that hard knock episode stories of the giant owner saying he's gonna lose sleep and we could punch four in with saquan I would have done it come on Nick come on Nick although I guess he doesn't have say in the offense a good team by the way hell of a team on their end but um want to get your thoughts on the Jurgens Jaylen relationship I know we had that botch snap early in the game and we we've been lucky with Kelsey for the last 12 what 12 or so years kind of want to see like how do you think that relationship is going to develop throughout the year because early in the game like Jaylen he looked a little confused calling out blitzes and calling out coverages I know Kelsey did a lot of that for him kind of want to see your thoughts as the season progresses against tougher def defenses and Duffer and tougher um tougher coverages how that's all going to play out man yeah I mean look they they definitely weren't as clean and crisp as we would want them to be it also makes sense though I mean we've been and I know Jaylen hasn't been here as long as Jason Kelce has but you know we we've been accustomed to the Jason Kelce life forever now I think cam Jurgens and him will be fine there was the one sequence where they showed Herz giving them a little bit of an earful on the sidelines and all and I don't think that that's a bad thing I saw some saying that you don't want to rip one of your players publicly in case cameras catch you or whatever but I think that's just a good teammate being like yo you know we got to clean this up a little bit and um I don't really have that many issues with it now right now it's game one when they don't play preseason yeah yeah and last thing Devonte Smith man he's kind of the the youngsung hero tonight I know saquon had the three Tes man I'm so glad he's an eagle AJ with that bomb dude talk about Devonte man that that first down conversion late in the game man he's kind of the quiet unsung you know hero man he's always where you need him to be he's always that guy he's sureh handed he never fumbles man just Devonte Smith is just we're just so lucky to have him dude yeah you know yeah and he's our third and thanks Sean I appreciate it Scot report I'm probably not even top three you got to worry about so makes my job a lot easier um and Kelly does a really good job of putting position to be special and um I'm just happy to be here and you know started off right um just like I said there's so much I'm continue to play back in my mind that I could could have done better on um but that's the beauty of the game you learn from in you move on and you get ready for next week and get back to Philly and get ready from uh Atlanta on Monday night saquan just looks right in an Eagles uniform he just looks right that probably pisses
