the Dallas Cowboys received some positive news regarding tight end Jake Ferguson's knee injury after Sunday's victory over the Cleveland Browns while Ferguson will miss some time it has been confirmed that his injury is not season ending NFL Network Insider yian Rapaport reported that Ferguson suffered in minkle sprain which although serious will allow him to return later in the season Ferguson stepped up as the Cowboys starting tight end in 2023 following the departure of Dalton Schultz and he's been a key player in Dallas offense ever since last season Ferguson caught 71 passes for 761 yards and found the end zone five times demonstrating his reliability as a receiving threat during Sunday's game before leaving due to injury Ferguson hauled in three catches on five targets for 15 yards his longest reception of the day was a solid sevenard catch after the injury update Ferguson took to social media expressing gratitude with the message God is good signaling his relief that the injury wasn't worse Ferguson has been a vital piece of the Cowboys offense and his journey to this point shows why coming out of Wisconsin where he was a standout tight end Ferguson developed into a complete player in his senior year at Wisconsin he earned First Team all big 10 honors finishing the season with 46 catches for 450 yards and three touchdowns his consistency was evident throughout his college career as he accumulated 1,623 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns across Four Seasons before his time in college Ferguson was already a star at the high school level as a highly recruited tight end Prospect he showcased both offensive and defensive skills racking up impressive receiving stats while also recording over 300 tackles on defense his versatility made him a coveted Prospect for the Cowboys having Ferguson back later in the season will be crucial he's proven his ability to step up in big moments and his presence adds depth to an already potent Dallas offense while the team adjusts to his temporary absence fans can be confident that the Cowboys are managing his recovery carefully and they should expect to see him back on the field soon
