NYT Connections, Mini Crossword, and Strands | Aug 26, 2024

Intro [Music] Connections let's do connections we're finding four groups of four we have slice sneak Tire support Bagel slip loaf whiff get a whiff of that loaf uh blessing Wade Wade interesting Lifesaver consent wreath hook approval and shank interesting so I'm seeing consent and approval they seem like they go together support maybe and blessing is there anything else that would mean to give your give your yes you know say Yes um I think that's it official sanctioning okay next time I support something I will say I officially sanction it um let's see Bagel breakfast foods um oh bagels and Lifesavers and wreaths are all entired they're all like circles with with the hole cut out of the middle all right what would you call those Taurus shaped things yes all right we're down to the blue and the purple I am wearing a a blue shirt so I should have plus two to Blue should make this nice and easy all right um cuz we all know the color that of the shirt we wear affects how good we do at each category um I'm not sure if you knew that but it's pretty much common knowledge at this point let's see uh slice I'm thinking like a little bit of something like a slice and a whiff like a whiff is just a little bit of smell a slice is a little bit of a some like a slice of something I'm not sure if that's it though I don't see anything else for that shank like the shank bone or like shanking someone like stabbing them I don't know um I wondering if it goes with something like hook huh okay what are we doing here slip as in you're you're slipping you're sneaking I don't know like you can slip into somewhere you can sneak into somewhere didn't we just have that category though uh slip is also something you wear hook I can't help but think that hook whiff and slice and like sneak or just like a a small bit of something I could justify that Loa Wade slip shank like the hook for a movie is like or a hook for a song is like a small bit of it that gets you enticed right you're sneaking I don't know I I feel like I need to try this one away okay so what am I wrong about H slice or sneak you can like slip I don't know slip a peek I don't know like I could mean that too I could be completely off base though it's easy to get one away when you're down to two categories by accident you can get one away I don't really get it though loaf so loaf Wade slip and shank are also one away right we just got to swap two of the words and we have the both answers so I'm wondering if that helps like thinking about those what would wade mean like all only know is like wading through water I almost feel like I should put sneak with Wade because like when you're waiting through water you're like walking carefully through it like it's you're walking slowly sneaking you're walking slowly like you can slip into somewhere like you're being sneaky I don't know about loaf or shank though like one of those would have to go with it cuz if I'm if I'm putting sneak in with Wade and I'm adding slip that means that I needed to be with loaf or shank and I don't know loafing like if you're loafing around you're not you're being lazy that doesn't feel like that fits but then again these are blue and purple I shouldn't be thinking so directly about like about synonyms I kind of want to put hook and shank together for some reason I'm just going to I guess I think I'm just going to use another guess I'm going to like remove whiff and add shank that's also one away so there's two options when you get two one aways like that so one option is neither of them go with it and we're supposed to have a third one or I mean we're supposed to third one it would mean that neither whiff or shank go with slice hook sneak and instead we need loaf weight or slip the other option is both whiff and Shank go in the category and we're supposed to remove slice hook or sneak I don't know which option I even want to do here well if I wanted shank and hook together that means I need to remove slice or sneak and add loaf weight or slip I have one more mistake to use and I have no idea what's going on here so I'm trying to use this to gain a little bit of footing get your foot in the door as it were um so if I remove sneak maybe like slice hook and shank all make me think of like sharp things I don't think loaf Wade or slip make me think of sharp things though maybe I'll add Wade just because I think it probably isn't and then that might give me some info that's also one away so if I'm oh and I I kept shank shank in and I okay so does that mean it has to be slice hook with shank I don't know if it has to be so this was one away this was one away and this was one away I don't know if that means that or not so one option is this was one away because we're not supposed to have sneak this was one away again because we're not supposed to have sneak but we were we were supposed to be these four and then this was one away cuz again it needs to be these four so that that lines up with that is there any other option I'm not sure but I'm going to stare at these and see if I can figure out what the category would be slice hook whiff and shank or loaf Wade slip and sneak the only thing I can think of is what I what I said before like sneak slip Wade and loaf would be like walking carefully but I don't know why loaf would mean that the only thing I know about loafing is like you're you're sitting around on the couch and doing nothing like you're loafing or like a loaf of bread or something so I don't know that that actually works slice hook whiff and shank could be a small bit of something I don't know if that's what shank means though so that's kind of that's kind of my issue well I am I just going to submit this and see what happens it was correct bad golf shots there was no way I mean I know whiff you can whiff a shot that's used in more than golf I did not know slice meant you made a bad shot in golf shank is a bad shot in golf Hook is a bad shot in golf I had no clue is this is this at least like moving carefully or Footwear minus r sound you know I was getting I was getting walking vibes from it but it didn't occur to me that it was loafer slipper sneaker and waiter okay this was a rough one um I won because I kind of got lucky with my one ways and and logicked it out but I did not really understand the categories at all um these two were pretty easy but these were very difficult so I don't know how they grade that but I'm going to give this just a solid 3.0 connections companion agrees with me solid three out of five all right can get some of these acrosses member of an underwater Colony starts with C I don't know fluster starts with u i don't know source of a buzz with or without SL letter I want to put b or be's I I don't that that seems weird so okay well there was something about ad across light colored variety of eight across so what would be a light colored variety of a bee like a I don't I don't know o this is this V here is interesting wonder what we do with that like volley okay so I'm seeing volley I'm thinking that's right and I'm thinking we are tennis related can I write out tennis so the only T is right here we can go 10 but we cannot we cannot find another n next to it so H I don't know that I'm going to be able to figure out the banagram so let's let's just let's just get volley locked in
