UAPB coach says Sam Pittman's Arkansas 'can't take those 70 points into SEC'

I realize it is uapb and I realize that uapb is not indicative of the kind of competition Arkansas will face this season however if we were looking for the goods TN green quendon Jackson Luke H Landon Jackson provided the goods like my goodness man again it's uapb I understand that I really do I get it but 70 points is 70 points my guys like I was watching Arkansas run through a uapb like swiss cheese I'm watching ton green operate this offense with jets and motions and shifts and out there on the perimeter like Vince Young out there on the perimeter big long lanky you can't catch him he had 223 through the air 88 on the ground and then you've got a between the tackles hos and J quendon Jackson my goodness I knew he was good at Utah you a good to Duncanville this is a man that was playing quarterback at Texas before you know the transfer what not in the move to tailback and you could see why he's such a physical Runner and I believe having that experience as a quarterback really helps not just your run scheme but your pass protection because that's going to be at issue when Arkansas goes to play better football teams than the one that they faced on Thursday night I'm still taking a lot of positives from this one of which is I said they scored 70 they are also the first program in the last 20 years of FBS play to score on each score seven points on each of their 10 possessions that's ridiculous and again it's 70 points and Bobby patrino and the offense and we get all of that but I'm more impressed by not giving up a single point to uapb Alonzo Hampton thought they would score a couple of times and every now and again it looked like they were doing something but Travis had those boys ready to go I think we're g to get to see the kind of Arkansas football team that they had been teasing throughout preseason I mean going back to SEC media days coach Pitman was going look I feel good about where we are I think taen is the guy I think Bobby's got them going the right way but during the preseason they were hitting and they were hitting hard and one of the things that I was trying to steer away from was this idea that perhaps they're going to let everybody down perhaps we're getting too far ahead of it hey it's August you can afford to be an optimist in August it's okay it's all right to feel good about your football team and about the prospects of your football team and perhaps not believe that you're going to go 4 and eight 5- seven this season that's okay you one and0 if you're an Arkansas fan you are one and0 and you got to like what you see man they got to make you feel good because in these sorts of games it's not whether or not you win the game it's that you need to appear dominant you have to give the appearance of dominance you cannot give the appearance of any sort of weakness there was a World difference between the way Arkansas uh decimated its FCS opponent and the way that Colorado escaped its FCS opponent now at the bottom of that I love how people try to make the argument either way they want which is North Dakota State's an FCS team like yes but it's the number two FCS team in the country and the best FCS program of the last decade and they're like still an FCS program whereas if I'm going to bring up uapb they ain't nobody RJ they ain't been nobody okay I hear all this man you can't have it both ways is what I'm saying either you're going to take the win or you're not going to take the win and in the age of the 12 team playoff take the win because now you have more ways to get into the playoff than ever before this is a program in Arkansas that has been thirsty for this kind of success for some time and people understand that Arkansas being a neighbor of Mind Arkansas being talk down the way that folks talk down Oklahoma frankly the way that talk people talk down Mississippi frankly I'm pulling for him it's one team one town over there it's it's one it's one pro football team in Arkansas just like there's one pro football team in Oklahoma you get what I'm saying here and you got the right guy leading it you got it you got a head coach that I really love and I've said this before and I will continue to say it but I really didn't know what I had in T and green like I was going I don't know about this because I saw some of it Boise State but I also saw that dude lose the job to madx Madson and I was like who loses the job to madx Madson well fivestar Mal Nelson loses a job to Maddox Madson so it might be that madx Madson is really this good as opposed to Tay green or Malachi Nelson being really that bad both things can be true right they can both be good but when Bobby patrino usually picks a quarterback he don't make a habit of missing that's the other thing like when I talk about Lincoln riy I talk about a man that does not make make a habit of missing on quarterbacks more than that he's had three number one overall picks he's had three Heisman Trophy winners come on now he knows from quarterback so if he says Miller Moss is the dude then Miller Moss is the dude I'm inclined to believe the same thing about Bobby Patrina who perhaps people forgot is that I believe his fourth stent as an SEC assistant and was the man that people really wanted to take Tommy tuberville's job in the early a and Tommy tuberville threw down 12 and0 2004 at Auburn said stick that in your pipe and smoke it by patrino goes all right cool I'll take a job at Louisville and I will give the World perhaps the most exciting Heisman winner of my lifetime because Louisville wasn't supposed to have no high and winners Lamar Jackson shows up out of nowhere there are two players that have won unanimous NFL MVP in the history of the NFL one of them is Tom Brady the goat the other one is Lamar Jackson the offense that he runs is also not one for which a quarterback can be shall we say dumb you got to be quick and you got to be smart to run that offense because there's a lot going on there's a lot of checking that you have to do and now with the headset to helmet technology that communication is going to get so much cleaner between patrino and and ton green and even then you're going to be able to say hey take a look at this I'm calling this place so you can get it to this person this is your first read and you're going to be able to do this at speed at Tempo really love what I saw from Arkansas I thought one of the quotes that coach Hampton gave though is going to get taken out of context and I really wanted to address it because he he said they scored 70 but they ain't going to be able to take those 70 points to the SEC I understand his meaning because he followed with we scored zero we can't take any of them into the swack he's saying it's a non-conference game he's saying that you know in as far as trying to compete in your respective conference for your respective championships this game means nothing and he's got a point to that I understand where you're coming from with that but I perhaps would not have worded it that way I realized that it sucks to get beat down 70 to zero feels real high school football out there and that's not what you sign up to be as a head coach of any college football program let alone getting beat by the flagship University like you stole something but I perhaps would have put it just a little bit differently if it was up to me now again I understand where he's coming from but you can't afford to be that loose with your comments in a post game after you get Lo after you get beat down like I would have kept it short I'd have kept it simple we lost you know that we know that Arkansas is a very good football team and wish them well the rest of their season we're going to regroup for our first home game be ready to go that's all you had to say instead you had to talk about what you can't take to the SEC and what I got to tell you about that dog is something in there perhaps you just don't understand but I got a hard time believing you don't understand that you turning the screw there on an Arkansas football team that ain't picked to finish very high in the SEC on an Arkansas football team that really has a lot to prove this season and for a head coach that many people believe is coaching for his job in this year like I'm it's a lot to put out there after a loss now again I'm looking around I'm going if you are Arkansas you're going okay cool he said what he said but we still got to get set for what we got to do and that's right cuz Oklahoma State Arkansas is going to be a really interesting game especially knowing what Oklahoma State's going to face in the number one team in FCS on Saturday in South Dakota State their schedule doesn't really have any let up in it either so maybe you were able to get an Oklahoma State Squad that might be coming off of a really tough ball game against South Dakota State I don't think anybody's picking Oklahoma State to lose this one but it would not Shock me to see that it goes not unlike the way it went for Colorado versus North Dakota State now I think Oklahoma state is a much better football team overall with a star at tailback than Colorado however you can't afford to play with the jack rabbits the jack rabbits are riding a 29 game winning streak and if anybody's going to give you a dose of what you might be able to see against Arkansas it's them they got a guy in Mark gronowski who I think is going to get drafted and is probably the best FCS quarterback back in the sport today you're going to watch that game if you're an Arkansas fan looking at Oklahoma State going what does South Dakota state do well because it is a very fundamentally sound football team and you are a more talented football team so if you going to take some of their fundamentals and lay it over the top of what you do at Arkansas you're in a good spot here I really love where Bob patrino and dvis Travis Williams had this their respective units sitting I love the speed on the outside that patrino has at wide receiver I love Luke HW one of big on baby one one of my right from right down here run around at tight end like a wide receiver it's it's going to get nasty if this goes the way I think it's going to go and if it sounds like I'm bullish on Arkansas it's because I am I like this football team I like where they're going and I like what I saw again
