how we started the game you know I think um you know there was just multiple hairs really basic uh fundamental and execu execution things that um you know throughout the week hey this play we're going to go right and we got the walkthroughs and all right everyone we're good we're going right and then we get to the game and first you know first series and we're going left and um you know I think I probably put too much emotion into to this and um you know um really wanted this to be a statement game I think I probably overdid that and I think our guys were fighting trying to do that I think uh we're playing probably too many things uh when we got to just play the guy right in front of us we played a lot better and so um I think that for sure kind of set the tone for the game I thought the guys continued to fight and play and um there was great effort there's great want to there's never a moment of hey this is uh going to get away or hey I'm going to pack it in there was never that and so the adjustments on the sideline were flying by you know I was um mentioning earlier to just defensively if this was a year ago this style of offense just everything that comes I mean we'd see it every day scrimmage against it all this other thing we're the opposite now you know and so to go against it and get aligned to it there's a lot of work that goes into it and uh you I figured that Andy would show it all which he did and very early on and so um there's a lot of 14 Personnel 13 and just all these things so we had to make those adjustments as we went I'm proud of the team for making them uh proud for the fight at the end you know uh but a lot to improve on you know I've got to get better team's team has to get better take questions you said you never got there but how deflating was that on the field made it yeah I think the whole thing was kind of deflating you know I think the whole I mean losing is uh not what we're about and not what we want and uh not what we want to be associated with I know right now that's that's the case and so you fight against that you know and U you know I thought there was a resolve on our sideline I thought there was you know let's come back out and get a stop uh you know at that point in the game I think there's great focus on what we could control and I'm proud of that and I thought uh we were able to do that what can you point to what was causing some of those issues in the first quarter kind of on both sides of the ball yeah I think um you know I hesitate to say this cuz I can hear the I can hear the rebuttal you know already but I think I put too much emotion into this game and um you know we wanted to play physical we wanted to um uh to play our best ball we wanted to make a statement and I think I mean the guys still do want to do that and uh I think it probably became too much of that and I think U they were all trying to to you know um win everything with one Fell Swoop um you know when it got to hey man this is the this is my keys this is the block this is the situation this is the the play when it just got to football I thought we settled down and played well and so um yeah I think that's the main reason you said you talked through everything in the first and second quarter how difficult was that to defend um when you saw some of some of that stuff the reverse the fake reverse yes yeah and so there's um you know there is multiple Personnel changes and so um you know people coming on people coming off a huddle there's not a lot of teams that truly huddle so to build a to see kind of where people are coming out of the Huddle I mean we practice that it's been since uh we haven't really seen a huddle you know and so like we have to practice seeing a huddle and so I just all those things are things you know and uh you have to pay attention to to those things and give detail to those things and um you know I thought later in the game there was great attention and detail I think early in the game we were blinded probably by ambition you know and some of those details got lost some kind of multiple has how hard is it when the defense plays so well and the offense maybe doesn't play as well how hard is it to kind of Juggle that just position with the two you know sides of the ball yeah we just want to win you know I think it's been it's been too long it's been too much of this we need to win and so that's the bottom line and so however we do win we'll take it but we're working to win you got to be happy with how play though especially in the second half right are you seeing some positive steps on that side of the ball I'm seeing fight and I'm seeing guys that care and I'm seeing guys that are committed and I'm seeing guys that uh are invested and don't want to let other guys down that's so I'm seeing a start you know there's a long way to get to the Finish they got the ball with 29 seconds left was that just to kind of maybe get yourself back in game yeah I think you know it's one of those things where um you know in the past not calling plays we probably would have had a lot more time because um I would have been just doing the clock you know and now that I'm not and it just it's hard to do so I think that's something we can improve on we need to improve on to have more time there um but yeah you know when we when we moved fast which we play fast we were at our best yeah do you think danan was rattled at the beginning of the game especially I think again I think the majority of our team um you know um really felt confident about the game really was thinking we're going to come out and uh and uh there's going to be big punches that we're going to have to absorb and go through but we're going to do that and we're going to get back up off the canvas and throw some punches of our own make plays and do all of that I think there probably be too much emphasis on that as opposed to just the details of the what was coming at him and I think he got caught up in in uh wanting to prove people wrong and uh wanting to make the play and do all these things and I think we're still fighting that a little bit how do you find that sweet spot moving forward obviously you need to you know how do you find that sweet spot of not getting too emotional with playing with an edge yeah I think um you you have to play what's right in front of you you got to play in the moment and um you know you have to if it's a a technique or a scheme and it's right in front of you then that's what you play and um anything that's outside of it you leave it outside and you're present with what's right in front of you you know um we had Dustin porya came speak speak to the team and he talked about the Conor McGregor fight his first fight uh that he had with Conor and Conor just talked so much he just got it into into Dustin's head and when he play when they fought the first time and Dustin was fighting all the people that were saying all this Conor was saying all that was fighting all these things as opposed to just the man so there's some of that with us I think today um we should have gave up 23 points in that first quarter I think some guys uh myself in tter were a little you know anxious excited rallied you know for the opportunity in front of us real early in this game and I think some of us were making some mistakes that we usually don't make and um you know those were big yarders plays and those were the touchdowns that they had uh we started to clean it up and they they didn't score after that first quarter so um we just have a lot of work to do this week what was the difference what did you guys changed what kind of alterations did you make or you start playing better um you know I think guys just locked in like they realized that we can compete with these guys I mean I always I believe in this team I love this team I Believe In Coach Randa I believe everybody's put us in the right place just to have a lot of opportunities to make plays on the field I just think sometimes when you're too busy trying to make the play not do your job some negative things can happen on defens of ke I guess um did it change did their offense change a lot when ryy went out no I just think that he um whatever checks he makes he knows what he's doing I mean he's been playing college football for seven years so he's a vet but the Young Buck definitely didn't know all the checks are kind of like what they're seeing but there were at times where ryen kind of knew what we were doing and so you know as we uh got further down the game we figured out what his adjustments meant and then just built off that and how critical was that fourth quarter drive that they put together when yall had cut it to an 11-point game right there for the taking and then they drove I think they ate up like seven minutes off the clock yeah that was big um couple of two two big third down plays that we messed up on um you know we ended up getting stopped but if we could have stopped there early I think our offense scored for sure I believe offense would have scored and we would end up winning the game despite the offensive struggles you know y'all were on the field a ton today how did y'all kind of rally in that second half to shut them out um you know we came we talked to each other we told each other like we love each other we know who we're doing this for we're doing it for the University our family's back at home and any uh support uh Team Member staff anybody who supports us you know we we want to win we want to make them proud and you know that's our biggest goal and that's what we came to do what is the energy on the sideline like in the you know in the fourth quarter there when things are kind of slowing down a little bit what what what's the energy sideline like we're good like I feel like we were super energetic I was making sure nobody was down we're talking we know what we need to do um any guys that were giving that negative energy you know we pressed them a little bit um talked to them and told them we can't have that right now like this is the the time of the game this is the opportunity that you're dreaming about when you're little kid so we got to take care of that do you feel like this one slipped away from you guys a little bit like you kind of had some opportunities there late in the game to for sure for sure um but I think like I said in that first quarter we struggled um not because of them but because of us but then you know once that next quarter came and then so on and so forth like we showed what type of team we can be we just have to be that every day and every quarter every snap what do you think the learning curve for this team is do you think it's just you know do you think by game you know five or six you'll be more fully you know tuned into whatever youall want to do and be able to kind of do that over four quarters I feel like I feel like like after you know last week game one we we should be ready to go we should be good uh I think this week was a really good practice for us uh the offense as well so we came into this game expecting and believing that you know we could come out and dominate this team and play with the best ranked 11 or whatever they ranked like we had no doubt Josh uh tough in a loss but your first career touchdown how good did that feel cuz it felt like y'all were kind of right back in the game when you scored there uh yeah no it felt pretty good but and at the end of the day I don't care about my production for real like yeah I really don't care about it honestly cuz we lost at the end of the day but in the moment it did feel good but we just got to come out on top of then for it to feel really good caused you guys to struggle so much in the early going first quarter part of the second you didn't seem to be able to get any traction what was going on I think uh just as a team um first first time playing on the road I think we all just had to settle down and find that Groove um defense um as well they they found the groove here towards the end of the first quarter second quarter and rest of the game that um we settled down a little bit too but we just got to finish drive when when we do settle down so I would just say just settling down um from the getg going just starting faster Josh on that on that touchdown play what opened up because I mean it obviously wasn't a you know big deep pass it just seemed like you got some good block and kind of a lane opened up I guess yeah just really just a lane opened up just wanted to try and get juice to the team for real so what sort of learning curve does this offense have do you attribute that ear slow start to like game two do you think by game five maybe it'll be able to sustain that a little bit better yeah what what sort of learning curve does this offense have overall so I'm just going to say that come next game we going to start fast we going to get it corrected any any mistakes that we see on film we're to get it corrected we're going to put guys up there that going to make plays want to play hard for me to get go we're going to get it corrected moving forward after you scored that touchdown did you feel like things were taking a turn and guys kind of back in it did you feel that energy yeah no I definitely felt a momentum shift I was just on the sideline trying to get the defense up offense saying let's go we back in this like it's really just like one two score games so I was really just trying to get everybody motivated and um yeah we just got to we just got to grab on to that and do something with it
