Drake Maye TAKES OVER for Patriots? Jerod Mayo Comments on Brissett Injury! Mac Jones SHOWS OUT! NFL

you're tuning into black and white sports on YouTube the No Holds bar truth on Sports the main event starts now all right black and white sports supporters let's talk about the New England Patriots that's right preseason games winding down we're steamrolling now to the start of the NFL season the New England Patriots played last night against the Washington commanders the problem you have with that kind of a game is it was the Patriots ones against the commanders threes I believe was what they said last night that's that's that gives you some real problems when it comes to evaluating what's really going on you guys know I've been critical of the Gerard Mayo hire why because there were better head coaches available at the time there's no world where you will ever convince me that Jim Harbaugh or Mike Vel weren't better choices I don't care if you did promise the job to Gerard Mayo I would have called to audible if you're being fair to your fan base and you want the best guy for the job so last night let's start here guys because uh well this offensive line is absolutely hard and uh I'm going to be real it's it's as bad as anything Matt Jones saw last year which is obviously scary right uh jacobe brassett is pointing to uh his right shoulder on the sideline uh though still he had his helmet on staff wasn't round odd mechanism on the play maybe an AC or clavicle when the defender landed on him guys if it's an AC or a clavicle Drake May is going to be your starter on this team now and and that might sound great except you run the risk of M jonesing Drake May here right uh in case you're wondering Matt Jones absolutely killing it in the pre-season 421 yards three touchdowns he's looked like a Bonafide starter I don't know how else you say it now Gerard Mayo has come out made some comments he feels positive about jacobe brassette after the game Mayo sounded mostly positive after the game there you go but there was a potential caveat in Mayo's comments quote he would have been able to continue Mayo said initially but then Mayo was a bit more measured I talked to him we'll see tomorrow you always feel a little bit more sore the next day he said he was good we'll find out tomorrow you is he good could he have played or or what's the deal is he hurt and you need to evaluate the situation oh boy I I don't know what to say here uh so Drake May folks came in looked damn good I'm not going to lie to you again I mean potentially the he they basically had if you want to call them the ones the only offensive lineman that didn't really play around uh brassette in May last night was David Andrews now that's a big ass offensive line that's a big ass name right that's a solid veteran and it makes your offensive line better but their offensive line still has the same problems they had last year so Drake may run it here we go and uh now this went for a touchdown but I'm going to I'm going to have some caution here look at this throw all right you see this guy right here this corner back if this is a number one cornerback on a team or if this is a first string cornerback there's a chance and Drake May got a strong arm but there is a chance that gets jumped and that guy is still scoring a touchdown right now all right 12 hours later he's still running with the ball I that could have easily been an interception I understand you got to be able to make make those kind of throws and he had a really good drive last last night um he looked good he was uh 13 for 20 I believe for like 128 or something like that 120 uh but after that drive was over it didn't look so great after the fact all right uh from there the New England offense stalled for the next string of drives including May throwing a pass behind taquan Thorton on Third and 11 I saw it was bad over the three drives after the touchdown May went four for eight for 18 yards not great but again I I I cannot believe it was a 13 for 2026 a 99.2 rating he looked good he did now I if I'm a Patriots fan I'm setting back going well he is more mobile and if the offensive line is that terrible is he the guy that we actually need to have in the game because he can run for his life now the problem with that is again you run the risk of M jonesing for lack of a better way of putting it Drake may I mean we literally watched what looked like a competent quarterback coming out of his rookie year melt down due to lack of weapons and an offensive line that was shitty to say the least and it just so happens now that he's got a better offensive line and some better weapons around him all of a sudden Matt Jones looks like a starting quarterback like if I was the Vikings I'd have been on the phone he'd be on my team as a starter right now uh after JJ McCarthy got hurt so anyway point being where does Gerard Mayo have Drake May uh so after the performance did May leap the veteran jacobe brassette in Mayo's eyes or is uh at least ready to play if brassett is injured especially after leaving Sunday's contest quote I would like to sit here and say 100% he is our second best quarterback on the roster right now is he your second best or your best I I kind of think he's your best even right now and I like jobi brette when asked to follow up he responded with next question I'm not sure until I watch the film oh boy okay so it looks like they're they're really trying to do the whole let's play the veteran for the first four 68 10 games they're wanting to do this gig and then bring May along later in the season the only reason I would do that and that I could see it is that offensive line that offensive line is really bad but he's going to end up getting in the game because jacobe uh jacobe set's going to get killed out there I almost said you Kobe Meers they man they could have used him last year and this year seriously wow I I don't know I'm going to be interested to see what Patriot fans think it's a tough decision just from Pure Performance and talent I would start Drake may but I kind of get it because this offensive line is terrible now this is something you guys know I've killed the Patriots on why the hell didn't they do something in the off season to sh up the offensive line in free agency I mean it's unacceptable this looks like a joke I'm watching that last night they're playing third stringers and getting crushed on the offensive line H that's man they get against some good teams has got a defensive line it could be a massacre for the Patriots it really could tell me what you think peace I'm out till next time thanks for watching the show
