Mike Norvell on Thursday’s practice, QB Brock Glenn’s status, and where the team is 10 practices in

you know today was the day that uh I thought the offense you know won the day I mean lot of lot of explosive plays big runs um you know I thought I thought there was U connecting on big plays uh some of that was mistakes that we were making defensively you know obviously um one of not one of our best days you know there on that end um but but obviously I thought you know as we got into third down situations you defense responded responded well at the end of practice and for offense you we got to continue to pick it up but like I told these guys uh you get you get you 10 practices in you know every rep every play you know we got to continue to push the standard that that we operate and there's plenty of things that can try to distract you plenty of things that whether it's your your body aching you know you know obviously the uh uh the rigers of what we try to do just within the course of practice you know trying to uh to challenge them trying to to make them uncomfortable uh and if you allow it I mean you can you can definitely allow uh you know see a dip in in what you're perform perces and I thought there were some times today that we weren't as good as what we've been and so obviously U we got to we got to respond to it and go get better but uh I thought like I said I thought offensively there's a lot of really good things I think you're seeing the offense building in their confidence I thought DJ had another you know good day um you know Brock was was was limited today um you know probably be a few days uh just uh with him being been limited had a you know non nonf football uh you thing happened that U keep keep probably for a few days but uh um you know he'll be he he'll be able to get back to work before this before Spring's over with but it'll probably be out a few days which gave you know opportunities for other guys and uh but ultimately just all part of it do you like what a run game is 10 days in both from a walking standpoint I'm seeing I'm seeing growth in it and you know obviously you know guys are are growing in their confidence in the technique the fundamentals uh you overall execution I thought the backs you you see I an explosive group of backs and uh you know if you give them space you know they got an opportunity to make something happen and uh you I think the old line is is just growing in what we're asking him to do yeah you know I think he's a he's a big back that has great uh you know short area quickness explosiveness um you know trying to uh you you've seen probably in this last week you know him really Tak a plot real positive uh uh you know step just in and what he's been able to do you know I think a better understanding of track footwork fundamentals you know the some of the uh the ins and out of what what we ask our backs to do here but a very versatile player and you know like what I'm seeing so far quite from from Sean Murphy today guess how you seen the comprehension stting to ramp up for him well he was one that you know he he dealt with a you a few little uh you know minor you know physical things just you work it through um you know they kind of limited him some this last you know over last week and a half um you know kind of challenged him today just to go out and play I mean you know not to worry about you know you know something that might be ill and you just you go out there and and put it on display and I thought he had his best day um we need him to continue to to build in that confidence and you know day like today I thought there was you know some really good really good moments hopefully can take some continue to take some positive steps from that I me yeah I mean it's a little bit a little bit old just you know sometimes it's you know just a better understanding of targets of of U you know points of you know where we want to be you know guys that are yes I mean you know feeling more comfortable working together you know in that um you know it's it's a there's so many different factors that go into it the backs you know efficiency in their footwork they hitting the track you know hitting the hole at the at the right time quarterback's doing a good job of of um you know if we're not in the right look finding you know being able to help us get into the best look um you all those things you know play play a factor um and so I think that you just see that that growth from those guys were you asking the guys that have played a lot of colge maybe things that they didn't do the volume that they might have had their previous institions on the offensive line um specifically off line yeah I mean absolutely I mean it's a you for guys coming in um you know guys that have joined the program obviously you know Richie and TJ I mean I think those the guys are both very talented um I've been really pleased with what I've seen uh with Richie Just In in his growth and understanding uh you know TJ's you obviously you great talent ability and I think you see him growing in confidence there's some things that you know he he's been really try to have a a great focus on in in areas where he can get better uh but I just love their mentality so it's U it's been good but yes we're trying to to stretch them to as much as possible just to kind of help build them through sometimes the the ups and the Downs of what it is you know playing up front can you see Closer Closer yeah I mean I'm he's he is um he's on track I mean I I feel great about you know who we have and uh I think you know the last probably week and a half I mean he's really you know he's accelerating his you know his uh reactions his confidence the steps all the things that he's doing um you know but you see the ability and he's he's what we thought well I mean was tonight's was eally you know with the dot award the dot trophy um you know that's a um it's a special award it's probably you know one of the one of the greatest awards for a staff uh to be able to receive because it it really encompasses it all it's the on the- field um performance what a team does um but you know when it also comes to the academic performance and then you know just the the overall character and impact that a team is is making and um I think when you look at at our guys to to what they what they mean to the community what they do in the community obviously the academic success that they've had you with how that's helped us translate on the field uh was a tremendous honor for for our staff and just feel grateful for for that recognition
