The WNBA SELLS OUT 19,000 Seat Stadium Without Caitlin Clark... But She's Still not Happy...

so the Connecticut Sun sold out a game in TD Garden it was the first game in Boston and look if you know anything about Pro Sports when a pro sport team is not in your city and they come to your city you will sell out like Ireland the amount of soccer games that we sell out bad soccer games that we sell out with teams just coming over to play Club teams coming over to playing preseason there's a reason why the Saudi league has like no fans in general most most of the time but then when a team comes over to play a game in Saudi the whole place is full and that happened in this game but it still shows that there are it shows the interest in the WNBA in general before we get on to if you guys are new to the channel subscribe CH 27,300 by the end of the day but this more so than anything shows it just shows the interest in the league as a whole is that it is now one of those it is now like I say that that it's common but like I'm talking about like European football that's common in if the WNBA is now one of those leagues where if a team who doesn't normally play in your city is playing in your city and they're going to pack out the they're going to sell out that's your shows when it's like the leagues that can do that especially in America are obviously the NFL could do it the um what's their names could do it like basketball football baseball hockey might be able to do it but WNBA seems to be able to do do this I don't think the MLS could do it I don't think if there was an m a big football stadium and an MLS team played outside they could sell out 20,000 seats just for that I don't think they could especially when it was the Sparks and D Carrington was still not happy she was still not happy which is like that's one of the things where it's annoying because you're just there like the game should have been nationally televised you shouldn't have to pay pres um pay a subscription see a game is historic I mean the only reason is that it's historic is that it's in a different place and that's the thing where it's like they sold out that was the historic part dude no team broke 70 no team broke 70 like you sure as hell should be thankful that that game did not get shown that was a bad basketball game orbe it D Caron herself hooped she absolutely hooped Alyssa Thomas um she's getting them assists up she's getting them boards and assists up because In fairness she did shoot the ball 12 times but like she might like she's only averaging 11 a game but it's fine when you've got Shooters around Marina ma is strugg she had a good first quarter of her first game she's really struggling since then and the LA Sparks are just trying to lose games so I don't really like they don't really count as a WNBA team they're just trying to lose games so like if you're d a Carrington you probably should like you probably should um be in a way thankful be a way thankful that um the game wasn't progress nationally but like the one thing that I don't get is a lot of people like oh it's on Gro League it's on it's all about ground Le like man these networks will post whatever will get viewership like by you don't grow the league by your broadcast Partners losing money that's not how you grow to League how you grow to league is every single record is being broken and by the way saying you shouldn't have to pay a subscription for a game that's historic like if no one wants to watch it does it really matter and I think I think the novelty of the game was that it was there and 20,000 people chose to pay or Harden or earn cash to go see the game this is not a game you want to watch a TV I'm sorry no one on national TV wants to watch a a leas but not very fun to watch Sun team play against a team that is trying to lose it's like watching I'm trying to think what team reminds me that in the NBA um it's like when Miami were the one seed in 2022 and then there was like the tanking Detroit Pistons it would be like if they decided they wanted to play their game in I don't know Seattle they decided they want to play the game in Seattle and they sold everything seatt like oh this is a historic game but I'm like it is everyone's going to be there everyone in the city wants to be there and if you are D character you hooped in a really historic game but like it's historic for where it is and the location the physical location of the game doesn't change the fact that whether it's interesting or not for TV like this is 100% one of those things where you're like yeah um it was a great game or it was a big game it was huge for WNBA and look this was a sign that the WNBA is growing this is what you can point to to shut people up and saying like look nobody cares about the WNBA game and I think games I think you can't you can say that all the time because um if you have looked at just anything in general from the WNBA every single um like every single game's getting more viewers every single game is getting more viewers than last year um players are getting more known than ever like everyone being like AJ Wilson's not getting enough coverage AJ Wilson is the most covered player outside of Caitlyn Clark and Angel ree who are just celebrities um AJ Wilson is getting twice as much coverage as she's ever gotten she's 10 times more famous than she's ever been so um and she's already getting put and go conversations this game probably would have had a lot more viewers this year than it did last year and look if the whole WM if the whole grow to game thing wasn't actually happening people like oh they're not actually trying to grow the game they're just trying to grow one player if the grow the game thing wasn't happening they you're not selling out 20,000 Cedar in TD Garden first of all you're not even getting the game moved to TD Garden like we can't forget that WNBA teams were struggling to get sometimes struggling to get three 4,000 people at games last year now any know small state just selling it every single time it was the Liberty in the Isis last year nobody else could sell our tickets and now you're seeing teams sell out not just for Caitlyn Clark exactly what the WNBA wanted to do has happened people have coming people are coming in for Caitlyn Clark and yes there might be five million Caitlyn Clark fans but of those five million fan five million new fans 500,000 of them have stuck around which is probably doubled the fan base of the WNBA they're like active fan base of the WNBA and that's what it's done yes there are like every like oh they're just promote K Clark they're not citn Clark does not need promotion Caitlin Clark is um already the biggest star I think she might be at this point in time the biggest star in American Sports I'm not joking I'm not joking um but this is one thing I don't get is like these players are still complaining about certain stuff when about certain games not be on national TV but it's like for the league to grow the most popular games need to be on national TV and then you're going to get more money in your deals and when you make more money the best players in the world don't go overseas they play in the WNBA the best players from overseas are playing you then draw in fans from France you draw in fans from Belgium for mesan you draw in fans from all around the world when the best players in the world are all able to come over when you're able to pay them comparatively to in Europe if not more more that is what growing the league is growing the league is not giving equal opportunity to everybody from Moment One growing the league is doing exactly what the NBA did when Michael Jordan Michael Jordan Magic Johnson Larry Bird those three guys grew the league by themselves you sure as hell um if you're Isaiah Thomas sure as hell benefited from that a lot of people benefit from that and that's the problem is you don't grow the you did not grow the NBA by telling Michael Jordan to share Spotlight with Sydney monrie because Sydney monre was a Hooper who was there before you didn't grow the NBA by telling Michael Jordan you know what your team's not your team's not like absolutely like Championship level so we're going to go and um instead we're going to promote Mark Price and the Cleveland Cavaliers because you know their team's a little bit better than you and you know we have to be fair you don't grow to League like that what you do grow the league is getting as many eyes as possible on the biggest games so you can get more money in advertising you can get more money in brand Revenue you can get more money in future TV deals you can renegotiate in three years time to get even more and while people are watching for caen Clark forign Angel ree forign AEL Wilson they get to see you the best perimeter defender in those games and maybe people are going to be happy about that but now people it's been so long since you've played and against at Caitlyn Clark that D Carrington in the general public amongst casual fans she's known as Nelissa Smith's girlfriend with no filter who hates Caitlyn Clark D Carrington has gone from the start of the Season being this being seen amongst new fans is oh my God she's just unbelievable PR Defender that hasn't changed but fans have short attent like have short memories and all that that all that's happened there ironically the people complaining about the w NBA not trying to grow the game are actually probably the biggest deterrence to the game actually growing that's the truth
