"UFC 5: Valentina Shevchenko vs. Pannie Kianzad - Epic Fight

[Applause] well she may not be the betting favorite here tonight but there are a lot of people out there that believe this number one bantamweight Contender is the best 135lb fighter on the planet and that long last she gets a chance to poop she has told us constantly anytime you are within range of her voice she will tell you I'm the best I'm the champ get me an opportunity she gets that opportunity and she has lived this week as if she believes everything that she says she has been sure she has been confident that is all rooted in her preparation which to everyone that knows has been tremendous and both champion and Challenger have a lot of skills but this particular Contender believes this is the best matchup for her in this top five we'll see if she can do the corner [Applause] well she's one of the best in the women's game now and historically Valentina chevchenko she's already got a UFC flyweight Championship to her credit and she will look to bolster her Legacy yet again here tonight not only is she one of the best she's one of the nastiest who has a gun tattoo on the side of their hip and she goes out there and she's got that thing loaded that gun to me symbolizes the right hand and the right kick of Valentina chevchenko she's the ver she's a great counter Striker she sets traps beautifully and if you overextend or you attack quickly she will finish you on the feet and she can also finish you on the ground just a phenomenal mixed martial artist is Valentina shevchenko and if she gets a first round knockout tonight DC has agreed to get that gun tattooed on his midsection it won't show it won't show under effect all right now let's get you the tail of the tape for this women's bantamweight championship fight here's Bruce Buffer ladies and gentlemen this and now introducing the champion fighting out of the red quarter presenting the reing defending Undisputed UFC with his bwe champion of the world Valentina bullet Che Cheo Herb Dean Third Man in The Octagon tonight all right so here we go with this highly anticipated standup only event you got to play by the rules here there on a ton of them but there is no grappling of any type either on the feet or on the ground Fighters cannot do follow-up strikes on the floor as well so that bears watching here as round one gets underway kick boom straight left hand oh combination striking at its best another great sequence out of it there she is just throwing everything with so much confidence every time she throws she believes that she is going to land and to this point she has done just that the kick is there to the body Fast Pace here in the early going nice defense by her there as she blocks the punch oh nice nice front kick just over three minutes to [Applause] go trying to establish that jab once again [Applause] oh nice kick oh was that a huge strike right there DC great shot landed now she's got to go down and get another one off to finish the fight oh nice inside kick oh effective use of the jab to the body there by Keon it's a beautiful fastp jab with me well it's not considered a power shot or even a significant strike but that jab looked pretty significant to me when you land that jab like she does it is a significant strike to hell what anybody else [Applause] says forward and get the under 90 seconds to go chevchenko gets caught by that straight punch you got to do better than that defensively oh another beautiful kick to the thigh she has attacked that area to great effect here tonight she said that was in the game plan less work and there probably her best strike of the fight her best strike and you don't see this type of power normally in this weight class she lands and she lands very [Applause] effectively you see some wealing now on the file a little bit as she continues to attack that area effectively it's a big part of the leg so it takes a little longer to really start to see the effects of what you're doing right now she's Landing but down the line boy she stays as a course it'll pay dividends St St 5 minutes in the books great expect her to come out looking for the take because she can't stand with him remember all right let's take a look back at some of the replays from that last round unbelievable to see these highlevel competitors getting each other's face tuck their chin fight down on the mouth guard and just let it all hang out over the course of 5 [Applause] minutes you ready to fight ready second round underway all right here we go with our next round previous round both Fighters had their moments we'll see who takes the upper hand both had their moments but nobody really stood out nobody separated themselves from the other fighter which of these two women is going to be able to really charge out ahead in the next round what a strike by her there I'd be knocked out her opponent Still Standing she's still standing but she's got to get on her bike John she's got to get out to the center of the O right face so that she can evade her opponent from finishing her [Applause] oh ow that one looked like it really did some damage nice front kick by her very painful looking technique you saw it drive right into her opponent's sterer oh straight punch well without much resistance she continues to find a home for that jab splits the guard perfectly just like she did in the previous round so why has she not address that thigh kick do she not feel that I mean it looks pretty bad at this point well early it doesn't feel like it's very damaging but right now as they add up it really starts to hurt it really starts to limit you and right now she has to address it because we're getting very close to that time where there's no turning back oh beautiful play shot to the leg oh he had a huge strike right there DC great shot landed now she's got to go chase her down and get another one off to finish the fight well she has certainly picked up the pace here in round two and starting to find herself in the pocket a little bit she was a little bit hesitant in round one no hesitancy whatsoever here in round two she has clearly found her rhythm in range chevchenko oh this is big that's big big big right hand and now another being thrown on both sides that high kick oh that's going to move a mark the uppercut had her head going sideways leg kick checked effectively there by Keon Chev jenko's thigh starting to show serious signs of bruising now up trying to kick the leg out and now they are throwing both sides with conviction keepow your kickboxing is spectacular want you to keep doing just that your leg kicks are perfect all right let us now check out some of the action from that round DC and what a display of striking for her yeah she did a fantastic job of finding her spots putting herself in position where she was the one landing and really dictating the pace of the fight she did a great job of mixing up everything to get in control you ready to fight ready third round underway all right we have arrived at our next round a huge five minutes upon us here in terms of the career trajectory for both of these women and this is the moment where somebody's going to have to bite down on the mouth guard and make a decision a determination that you will not be denied bite down on the gum Shield ladies bite down bite down well how impressive is this young woman volume of strikes in the previous round and picking up exactly where she left off here and not really showing any signs of slowing down she looks like she could go 10 hard fives tonight if need be and there it is again every time she thinks about engaging offensively it seems like she eats another thigh kick she eats another kick I mean her opponent has figured it out has figured out the weakness in her game and She's Taken full advantage of it oh perfect execution on the low kick the issue with that kick as effective as it is one gets checked you have the Anderson Silva [Music] situation she's walking out she's hurt very bad she's on skates she has to get moving if she stays in front of her opponent she take one more that's going to end the night under three minutes now to go on the round well it looked like we were going to get a finish she had her rocked pretty good but she wasn't ever close the shot wasn't able to find the kill shot she hurt her very badly but she was not able to find that one shot that would fin the fight all right so another attack to that thigh and some obvious damage now she needs to protect that leg oh look at the inside leg kick she crows her opponent now could be the beginning of the inch she hurt her very badly with that big leg [Applause] kick oh that's a beautiful land downstairs with the kick well not just a high output fight to this point but a high accuracy fight as well both Fighters have absorbed a lot of damage thus far these two women have both fought she's hurting bad book is there again we can win this round I need you to get the take down [Music] oh well she gets back up here but she is on wobbly legs oh oh you can see her limping a little bit now that leg is hurting for [Applause] certain konac going for the head kick no dice I mean that is a big Save By the Bell that marks the end of the round and we'll see if she can recover from getting stunned by that huge shot just before the Horn of course you know she's only got 60 seconds here with which to recover they'll get her on the stool physically she's compromised mentally can they keep her in this fight well a punch like that would have F lesser women but she survives and gets to fight another round she's as tough as they come she's sitting on her bench right now telling her coaches I'm good I'm ready to go that was just a moment I'm still going to get the victory I believe she has to change something she cannot continue to do the same thing and expect a different result you ready to fight ready all right here's round four fight scheduled for five five minute oh shot by there probably her best strike of the fight her best strike and you don't see this type of power normally in this weight class but she lands and she lands very effectively trying the flying knee there back and forth we go well she has had that jab in her opponent's face from the opening horn here tonight continuing to work everything in her striking game off of that jab you see those numbers bottom of your screen pretty heady stuff when it comes to her standup game especially here tonight oh oh she's H her [Applause] here oh nice B shot just over 3 minutes now to go Annie Keon's nose is cut now and she stting to deal with some blood in that area huge shot going on right here big right hand oh nice front kick there that allight she did not miss there she's been looking for it and she finally got it and now she's going to see if she can close the night oh oh nice right hand look for her to throw that overhand again here chevchenko nose is bleeding now looks to be cut perhaps there on the bridge ni job nice job to get the foot off the canvas and to the Target quickly beautiful inside leg kick by Keon rips the body there [Applause] finish feels like the beginning of the end oh big leftt oh no oh this is such a crazy fight she's looking oh digging kick final seconds of the round konad swelling now around the jaw area so we'll keep an eye on that as this Fight Continues all right so there's the horn indicating the end of the round we will keep an eye on this cut you see the cut man racing in there cut it looks look like it's on the bridge of the nose he'll try to shut that thing and prevent it from being a factor for her here moving forward looks like he'll close it up now all right let's take a look back at some of the action from that previous round DC Chief among it the area that cut is going to get wider oh here's the kick blocked by chevchenko good there it is again look at that she's getting up yep she is in a world of trouble let hope she can survive man she's
