this folks was a marquee matchup in name only Clemson has a lot of work to do Georgia's a machine welcome to the voice of college football breaking down the game we all love each and every day with you best discussion debate and Analysis and this is what we do on Saturday's instant analysis with you and this one is fairly easy to break down typically we've got really good matchups good games that go down to the wire and we have to analyze coaching M decisions and game management that sort of thing the only thing to break down here is how dominant Georgia was and maybe some Clemson issues going into the future and how they should deal with those or maybe how they should have been dealt with this past off season 34-3 is your final score in Georgia close to a consensus number one team in the country both in the coaches poll and the AP rankings might even be better and probably will scarf up every single number one vote and they should can I get my national championship game prediction back okay let's start with Carson Beck uh 23 of 33 for 278 two touchdowns no picks you could probably WR in that stat line for Carson backck every game this season that's pretty much what he does was was I impressed with Carson backck today yeah I was was I wowed no I was impressed because he just flat out makes the right decisions executes the offense has a strong NFL arm and delivers the ball down field on time to the right place at the right time and takes into consideration where the defense is where that particular man-on-man coverage Defender is and throws the ball to the right spot it is not spectacular but it is freaking efficient wow Carson Beck wants to win a National Championship does anybody here in the aftermath of this 34-3 demolition have uh Shades going back to the Oregon demolition of 46-3 49-3 a couple years ago in leading to a national championship that's what it looked like here against Clemson Clemson is not a bad football team they are going to get annihilated by the media by social media by you they're not a bad football team but they are so far from Elite they are so far from where they were at their Peak between 2016 and 2018 for sure into 2020 but we'll get to Clemson in just a second okay so the Georgia pass offense efficient on the mark perfect although the Clemson defense that quitted itself well in the first half they were stopping the Run they were stopping drives they were holding Georgia to field goals after a scoreless first quarter but you had that feeling okay Clemson is playing tough they're using their strength which is front seven on defense and really the entire defense for Clemson they they're holding up right now but the yards were coming at a snails pace for Clemson it was a struggle while you were just had that feeling that Georgia was just on the verge of breaking through and that's exactly what happened it was only six to nothing at halftime but those first two drives in the second half by the dogs were just things of beauty six Place 75 yards touchdown eight play 75 yards and a touchdown and what we discovered during those two drives is the new star running back the guy that is just a bit different than anyone we've seen recently Georgia lost two leading rushers but those guys were not drafted so there was a downgrade at running back even though they're excellent college players neither one of them drafted Trevor eten on the sideline as the what Kirby Smart said the number one running back but he may need to reconsider after what we saw in just 11 carries out of Nate Frasier one of the highest rated recruits in all of college football wow the burst the explosion the maturity physically and in terms of taking in the game and even though Georgia was well in Hand by the time he got the bulk of his uh touches in this game he obviously was not uh letting the situation the magnitude of the moment wow him he was ready for it and he looked apart DeAndre Swift is the comparison I'll take it if we start at what is the difference between these two teams at this point we can talk about great skill position players and speed and that sort of thing and maybe there is a difference with a guy like an Nate Frasier uh where Clemson and Phil mafa really nice back but not that type of back uh Clemson wide receiver play has been down in recent years Antonio Williams trying to change that narrative this season and of course Bryant Wesco is a guy that Clemson is excited about but we saw him on the sideline and come into the game uh in the second half he doesn't physically look like he's ready uh for the punishment of uh a game like this but the difference between these two teams first and foremost is at the line of scrimmage the Clemson defensive front was up to the task for most of the first half but they got worn down because they r on the field too much flip to the other side of the ball and what do we see we see a Clemson offensive line that's decent it's going to be able to take on most of that ACC schedule and do just fine maybe the entire ire ACC schedule shoot we may have seen the ACC Champions playing today would that not be something if they March into the playoffs with if there's an upset or two in the SEC with a higher seed because of the buy and the auto bid from the ACC that Clemson would have the higher seed than Georgia even though the Bulldogs look like they could beat half the NFL right now and there's no way that they're going to lose a college football game but Clemson's offensive line still has not been recruited to the level and develop to the level that they need to compete even though they picked up one of the best offensive line coaches in the country last season in Matt Luke they still have so much work to do up front and I know kenbeck looks like a first-rounder and he probably is and Kade klubnik looks like a deer in headlights like the situation overwhelms him and this is his second full season of starting after getting some playing time two years ago so he's got enough reps that he should be better and yes I'm not saying that Kade Club Nick is the answer or that he's going to be a quarterback that can lead this team to where they want to go but it doesn't start with him it starts with the offensive line the offensive line is not good enough to keep him clean Carson Beck was standing in the pocket delivering Cate kick number one I don't think that Clemson has the confidence in him to just have him drop back to pass first and foremost and just dissect a defense downfield number two too I don't believe that they've got the confidence in the offensive line and rightfully so to call many just straight dropback pass plays so Club Nick's not shown the ability to uh execute and deliver downfield on a regular basis and the offensive line against this type of opponent which they basically won't face for the rest of the season don't have the confidence to deliver that offensive line pass Pro to keep Club neck uh in the pocket for a few seconds to deliver the ball down field he threw one beautiful pass to Antonio Williams who also made in coverage with a great man-to-man coverage on him Antonio Williams pulled it in when it was still a game at three to nothing and this was where Clemson really had their one shot to stay in the game a little bit longer it was a close game they delivered downfield they got the big play of 36 yards to Williams and then they had Adam renle commit two penalties the one time he was lined up wrong they had converted the third down into a first down to get them close to the Red Zone next bad formation too many men in the back field should have been on the line of scrimmage there we go and Clemson could not recover or convert the third and 14 most of georg's production this season gone from 2023 but this is not a concern outside of Brock Bowers he's a one of a kind once in a generation but though Oscar Delp is certainly one of the best Dylan Bell had to leave the game hopefully he's okay on the Georgia side a very talented wide receiver left with five minutes left in the third quarter now uh one other guy for Georgia of course Malachi Starks is one of the best defensive backs in the country we already knew that but go back you probably checked out at this point it was 27-3 34-3 the catch that he made on the interception down the sideline on the Bomb by Kade kumnick was ridiculous contorted his body Twisted all the way around High pointed the football it was beautiful tracked all the way down the field most wide receivers could not make the catch that Malachi Starks made on that play Jaylen Walker led the defensive line that was dominant Georgia it was mentioned early in the game during their dominant defensive run from 2019 through 2022 only giving up 76 yards per game on the ground 113 the average last year because the edge play in which we saw Clemson try to exploit in the first half and they did a few times they were able to get to the edge that has been the sore spot for Georgia's defense and though they did give up a few plays in the first half that's probably been taken care of Phil mafa 16 carries for 59 yards and he was is gutting out those carries for everything he could possibly get there were no easy yards for Phil mafa on this day George is a machine they look like the best team in the country I don't want to overreact that's not what we do here the voice of college football but this is Georgia so we know that they've got the championship pedigree we know that Kirby Smart knows exactly what he's doing that they have recruited the best roster in all of college football have most likely the best quarterback in all of college football the best athleticism the best line play if you combine offense and defense and now we see Nate Frasier and what he can do in the explosion and then we're going to get Trevor etan back into the lineup here in a couple weeks wow it's awesome on the Clemson side this team despite what we saw today could compete for the ACC Championship there is just that much of a difference between the elite and the merely I think the best we could expect of Clemson is a top 15 team in the country so they have taken a sufficient or significant step back this comes down to Dabo really looking at himself in the mirror and considering what he considers to be his ethics and morality concerning the transfer portal I don't get the connection myself I do understand that he feels obligated to the kids that he recruits out of high school and signs to not uh bring in players over them however if you're in the program as a junior or senior at Clemson and there's a stud freshman that comes into the program they're going to play over the upper classman he's got to go to the transfer portal if he wants to compete at the elite level uh they have fallen he doesn't have the luxury of trying to maintain Elite status they have clearly fallen off that pedestal and are slipping down the cliff they only went four and four in the ACC last year Garrett Riley I don't know that he's been given the entire autonomy of the offense Kade kumnick they don't have another option they've got the five-star freshman Chris Fen he's probably not ready to take over this football team and again the offensive line has to get much better for Clemson in these types of games but they're not going to see a team like this the rest of the season unless they make the khge football playoffs Georgia looks the part they look like the best team in the country with no weaknesses don't know though if Clemson was the team to expose any potential weaknesses I don't think they exist but of course uh Ohio state Alabama Texas Oregon and others are out there potentially but not until December or January although couple weeks from now in Tuscaloosa I'm sure that this effort and this score and this performance got the attention of kin deor all right appreciate you being here at the voice of
