Wednesday of the 19th week in ordinary time also a memorial for St stepen of Hungary he was born in the 11th century hungry at that time was a mix of various Pagan cultures tribes and he United them uh and then applied to Pope Sylvester II to set up churches Catholic churches in Hungary and for the next thousand plus years um Hungary has remained a very staunch Catholic Community St stepen was the first king he was the one who brought the culture of Christianity to Hungary and tremendous care of the poor and he was a saint for this country as well well as its first king he died in 1038 and let us be attentive to a reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew Glory To You O Lord Jesus said to his disciples if your brother sins against you go and tell him his fault between you and him alone if he listens to you you have won your brother over if he does not listen take one or two others along with you so that every fact may be established on the testimony of two or three Witnesses if he refuses to listen to them tell the church and if he refuses to listen even to the church then treat him as you would treat a gentile or a tax collector amen I say to you whatever you bind on Earth shall be bound in heaven whatever you loose on Earth shall be loosed in Heaven Again amen I say to you if two of you agree on Earth about anything for which you ought to pray it shall be granted to you by my heavenly father for where two or three are gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them the gospel of the Lord praise to you Lord Jesus Christ this morning's scripture of the the Old Testament reading from the book of Deuteronomy is the end of Moses's life for the last four weeks we've been hearing from Deuteronomy in The Book of Leviticus Exodus about the great Moses the leader of the people today he finishes the Journey of 40 years bringing the people through the desert experience reaching the promised land but as you heard today Moses was not allowed to enter it because of his doubts of God at marba and Masa in the de desert no one knows where Moses is buried to this day interestingly enough but he was the flame of fire for the Israelites the Hebrew people when they left the slavery of Egypt crossed the Red Sea the sea parted from them and they escaped out to a desolate desert area IA and for 40 years they wandered but in 40 years Moses was communing with God face to face the only human to do so he met with God in a cloud and he received from God the law what we call the Ten Commandments and so Moses who at times had difficulties with his own people he called them stiff necked they weren't always open to God and where he was leading them but he followed Moses himself followed God Faithfully to the very end from the burning bush experience where he first met God to looking at the promised land 40 years later and not entering it because of his sin people had a tremendous regard for Moses because he alone spoke as it said in today's reading face to face with God signs and wonders that he worked among them the fire of God's love was in his heart and that's why our responsorial Psalm the verse this morning is so important from Psalm 66 in the Hebrew scriptures blessed be God who filled my soul with fire clearly Moses's Soul was filled with fire and so too should we be in Imitation of him as Pope Francis said last year quotes offering and receiving forgiveness and mercy should be our lifestyle may we be on fire with the good news of God's word in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen and now my friends let us pray in confidence we lift up our hearts spirits and voices this day as we offer our petitions to an attentive father for the whole church that the members of each household in her ranks may choose with all their hearts to serve the Lord in gratitude for all his gifts we pray to the Lord Lord here our prayer for the leaders of Nations that they may cast out the strange gods of greed and hostility oppression and War and follow the way of justice and peace we pray to the Lord Lord here our prayer for the little ones of Christ's flock especially the lost sheep among our own families and friends that the will of the father may be fulfilled so that none of them may be lost we pray to the Lord Lord here our prayer for all the intentions recommended to our prayers especially for the sick and dying for those facing financial crisis or life-changing decisions and for those Discerning God's call in their lives we pray to the Lord Lord here our prayer for all the souls still in debt to God and waiting to be purified before they may enter Heaven that this Holy Mass May obtain for them forgiveness and peace we pray to the Lord Lord here our pray and for holy O Lord the font of all Holiness make holy therefore we pray these gifts by sending down your spirit upon them like the dwall so that they may become for us the body and the blood of your most beloved Son our Lord Jesus Christ for on the night he was betrayed and entered willingly into his suffering and death Jesus Jesus Took bread set a blessing broke the bread and giving it to his disciples said take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended Jesus Took The Chalice and once more giving thanks at a blessing gave the Chalice to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the Chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal Covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the Forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith when we eat this bread and drink this cup we Proclaim your death oh Lord until you come again and therefore Lord we now celebrate this Memorial of the saving suffering death resurrection of your son and we offer you the bread of life the Chalice of Eternal salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be here in your presence this morning and minister to you humbly we pray that by partaking in the body and blood of Christ we might be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit and Lord remember your church your people spread as we are throughout the whole world and make us grow in love together with our Pope Francis with our local Bishop Robert and with all of the Bishops and clergy religious and Ley everywhere remember too our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of resurrection and all have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your presence have mercy on us all we pray that one day we might be with the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God with Joseph her spouse St Steven of Hungary and all of the Apostles Martyrs and Saints in your kingdom may we Merit to be co-s to life eternal and praise and glorify you through your son and our Lord Jesus Christ through him with him in him oh God Almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is
