So it would be a shame to miss these lovely gifts accessible with a simple click… But then, would a PC at €3,000 be less powerful than this famous new Technical Specifications Playstation 5 Pro PS5 PRO in fact? Well we won't go to that power level, but there are still some cool things! A system memory with 28% higher bandwidth for even faster loading times, a 10% faster processor with a frequency of 3.85Ghz, and above all a power of 33.5 Teraflops, well above 10, 28 Teraflops that we had on the current console! So would it be 3 times more powerful than the current model ? On paper yes, now in reality…. Well, you need the games that go with it! Besides, to finish on the specs, we would stay on 1TB of storage and 16GB of ram, on the other hand what is interesting to note is that there is a lot of new stuff on artificial intelligence , for example with accelerators dedicated to AI that can process 300 teraoperations per second, which is a lot, but above all the addition of an anti-aliasing and scaling tool: PSSR, for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling! Basically, it would be their own DLSS, like Nvidia's AI upscaling technology, to allow for a much less demanding low definition rendering which would be upscaled afterwards thanks to AI, therefore allowing one side of being able to upscale very old titles, but also of being able to increase where man never dares to go too far : 8K! Well, there is little chance that you will have the TV for that eh, but apart from this feat, all these technologies similar to DLSS are really great, and will allow you to have much more graphically advanced games without typing crazy on performance! As for the rest of the performances, well, it's higher values ​​in “kikimeter” mode, the PSSR intrigues me quite a bit, and I can't wait to see what it will give! See its comparison with all other technologies like AMD's FSR or Intel's XeSS! We are talking about a presumed release date for the end of the year, but you should know Console release date that many developers already have it in their hands! Still according to Tom Henderson, the main Insider behind this leak, Sony studios such as Naughty Dog for Last Of Us or Insomniac for SpiderMan received the console in its development form in September 2023! Besides, it makes me think that Naughty Dog still hasn't released a game on the PS5 apart from the remarks... For third-party studios, everything should have arrived in January 2024, so Square Enix, Activision, all that… Well it will be useless to go on a burglary mission in their premises to find out the new design of the beast, because in general the dev kits are very different from what the final consoles will look like, as we saw with the PS5 which had nothing to do, and this for several reasons : already to avoid leaks of the design well sure, but also so that it is more easily stackable for example, since they generally have stocks! Well, it’s easier to stack rectangles than the weird monoliths we have at home ! Because yes for the moment no rumors about the new design… Except for the 150,000 somewhat fanciful renderings that we see on the web, there is nothing “confirmed”” by the Insiders, and yes I say Well, that's in quotes because once again I remind you here, we have absolutely nothing confirmed from Sony, and a lot of things can change! If we are really planning a release at the end of the year, the brand should announce the console around 2 months before; in the case of the PS4 Pro, the announcement was made on September 7 , 2016 for a release on November 10 of the same year! So we still have time to speculate about the future before having an official announcement from PlayStation... Future of Sony And that's what we're going to do a lot here, because it's true that from my point of view, I don't think Sony is doing very well... Already, we can quickly come back to the sales hopes of the PS5 recently, the figures have not lived up to Sony's expectations: They have also revised the lowers their ambitions for the 2024 fiscal year, going from 25 million consoles sold to 21 million, a drop of almost 20% all the same... The worst in the announcement of all this is the words used by Hiroki Totoki, Sony president: That the PS5 was entering the last portion of its life cycle... Which was just a shortcut for many to say that we are at the end of the PS5 and that it is entering retirement ! Coupled with the announcement that no major game of existing licenses will be released in fiscal year 2024, i.e. until April 2025, well that's a bit of a blow... And clearly given the current state of the game video with layoffs everywhere, it's not now that we're going to see new licenses appear out of nowhere; here we are in an extremely safe market that wants to protect itself! All of this was received very negatively, and we can see it on the financial markets, where the stock fell sharply , causing Sony to lose 10 billion… So yes, we are at a bit of a critical stage. End of PSVR2 And it's not the PSVR 2 that's going to save them... Disastrous sales, no support from devs, the Playstation virtual reality headset has clearly not caused a sensation, and Sony has completely announced the abandonment of its development very recently! I hope for your sake that you did not invest in it... Currently some clever people are trying to make this headset as stable as possible on PC to thus make it usable in a more open way like its competitors, there may be that to save it if you have one lying around at the bottom of a drawer at home... But yes, saving furniture is a bit of Sony's vision at the moment, especially with something that we would never have thought imaginable 5 years ago: l opening of its game catalog, with the arrival of all its exclusives on the PC world: Last of Us, Spiderman, God Of War, Returnal…. So on the one hand it's cool to allow everyone to play these superb games, and clearly the PC Master Race in me is very happy about it, but on the other hand, if we put ourselves in Sony's place , in a world where the console sells gigaly well, that would make no sense! Because all these games are “system sellers”, that is to say games allowing you to sell the console and trap new customers in the ecosystem; and if they end up letting go of these exclusives, it's because they have a greater interest in them than selling consoles, which makes the release of a new system even stranger... The only game they don't haven't made it more open yet, it's BloodBorne, but honestly this one is a mystery; still no PS5 upgrade so the game runs the old way, no notable update, it seems that they no longer care about one of the best Souls Like on the planet, and yet on the side they have struck a kart game which takes over the universe… So yes, Well the desire to make it a car game is quite funny, but what's even more funny is really the extent to which they do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING with this nugget! Steam big winner And speaking of someone who does nothing and yet wins everything, well it's Gabe Newell with Steam! Because yes the big winner in this opening of games is the Valve platform which has not made an announcement for easily 10 years, and which thanks to everyone's games which are repatriated to its store, has just surpass its highest number of users with 36 million instantly! The moral of all this is that it's not necessarily worth it to see giga grand eh, sometimes resting on your laurels works well... Wow, not sure of the moral of this story ! All this smacks a lot of the last stand to be the “IN” console of the moment and take advantage of the growth of GTA VI upon its release, because we must not forget that the game is currently not announced on PC, only on consoles, and in view of the sales of the last one and the crazy hype which followed the trailer of the brand new one, there is a way that a third party game will be a hell of a system seller, and this time frame we feel that they are going all do to make the most of it! Afterwards, are they really racing with someone else? Because Microsoft for its part with its Xbox seems to have clearly abandoned the console market to be more interested in that of the catalog of games and services... So okay if on the left there is a more powerful console it's nice, but if on the right there is a GTA VI included in the GamePass, there is no match! Well obviously, that will never happen eh, or else you will clearly have to send tens of billions for Rockstar to accept, but yeah, the war has clearly not been on the same fronts for a while! Should you buy the PS5 Pro? I don't think this PS5 Pro will be such a flop either, it still remains Sony behind, one of the biggest behemoths of the game console! But the time when the basic model was out of stock everywhere and you had to buy it from resellers for double the normal price is long gone, or when the price had increased by 50€ going from 500 to 550, some something never seen before! Today the promotions to try to sell PS5s are legion, and for many the normal price has become €475 for the version with reader, and there is even a way to go below 450… So yeah, a Pro version 3 times more powerful, which personally I would never see below 600€, in today's world and with all the inflation that we know only too well... I don't know, I find it hard to believe in a gigabyte buzz given the few games released on the system and which are still exclusive there ! This is where we see that we are in a real middle ground: video games are in a period of transition, already because very few new licenses manage to stand out from the crowd, which shows a real nostalgia effect, but also with the explosion of certain service games like Fortnite and Roblox which are making a lot of publishers dream, making them make somewhat illogical decisions... The most recent, it is Warner who has decided to concentrate on service games and to abandon a little the single-player games which are ending, although they have recently published Hogwarts Legacy, one of the strongest single-player games in terms of sales, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the one of the most floppy service games ever seen! Well, however, it was the second scenario that appealed to them the most! And well, if that's the case, it's good that there is a crazy financial attraction, and this despite the flop they suffered... We're talking about a big publisher here, we can say to ourselves that some things are insane, but the figures must have spoken to interest them to this point! And so clearly what they want is more “System Seller” games, but rather games available everywhere, whether on console, PC, smartphone… In short, a game that is there to keep you as busy as possible. a social network! GTA VI will be an anomaly, and will unfortunately be one of the last from the big studios… And again, not too much of an anomaly, GTA V was ultimately quite a service game with Online…. But in any case, all this can explain why we never heard from certain single-player games again, like Elder Scrolls VI announced in 2018, 6 years ago, or even Metroid Prime 4 7 years ago... Was the Playstation Portal finally good? After all, be careful, maybe that I'm totally wrong, and maybe it will be a massive hit, that Sony will release sequels to all its games at the same time in April 2025 to fuel the release of GTA VI and its console, and that that is going to be a hit ! Like for me the PS Portal was going to be a flop, you know this fake portable console which doesn't work without being connected to anything, and which is there just mirroring your real PS5, therefore asking you to be permanently connected in Web so that it works and therefore have the real console available! All without Bluetooth to connect headphones other than those sold by Sony! at 220 balls for me it made no sense that it would work, and yet it was out of stock almost everywhere when it came out, and once again I don't understand how we can't just prefer a Steam Deck that can be found at 300€, which on the one hand can do exactly the same as the PS Portal if you want to stream your PS5 remotely because the application is available there, but in addition is a real console with a real system and which allows you to play anything and everything directly locally! I'm currently lost on Balatro... I'm saying it again for the 105th time, but the Steam Deck is honestly the best console that has seen the light of day in the last 5 years!
