College Football Reaction: Notre Dame-Texas A&M, UGA-Clemson, Miami-Florida, Dabo Swinney HOT SEAT

what's up everybody welcome into for verts my name is Harrison Graham spending some time with some family uh so filming a little college football reaction episode here uh lot of good action yesterday in the first real Saturday of the college football season I know we had week zero last week and Georgia Tech had an awesome upset so that was nice little teaser but uh yesterday was was fantastic you had some big time performances from Georgia had some almost upset alerts with abing Christian my hometown almost taking down Texas Tech few other notable games so we're going to get to my top takeaways of the day we'll take a look at uscl LSU tonight and then uh we'll wrap it up here but if you want daily college football or NFL YouTube videos for free this is the channel for you hit the as well let's start with the early slate yesterday the kind of headliner of the day at least on paper didn't play out that way was Georgia and Clemson the number one ranked Bulldogs and the 14th ranked Tigers I thought Georgia would win this game convincingly and that is exactly what happened um they just have better athletes all over the field especially on offense Clemson's defense can hang it's probably a top 20 defense in the country but after two and a half quarters of keeping them in the game eventually they run out of steam and Georgia pulls away 34 to3 and you know I put out a little YouTube short on the channel yesterday and I'll kind of expand on my thoughts here I think Davos s is in trouble man and I don't mean that he's literally on the hot seat like Clemson could fire him this year after this year but if you're high up in that athletic administration at Clemson if you're a big time Alum and you're watching this and you've seen this start to slip over the past couple of years don't you have to have a serious conversation with Dabo at some point and like say listen you're an unbelievable coach two national championships we like everything you stand for but at the end of the day you're not evolving whereas the rest of the sport is he refuses to use the transfer portal he doesn't like nil and I don't think nil is a perfect system I think there's a lot of flaws but you know what if you don't use these to your advantage you're going to get lapped and and I think you're seeing that play out and it started about two years ago with Clemson starting to lose its grip as one of the best teams in the country and I watched yesterday and you're just like they got no shot of being jorda it's just not even close watching this play out and look some of it is Clemson still recruits very well and if they're not going to use the portal they need these four and five-star players to play well and to play well early and five-star quarterback kid kumnick entering his his second year as the starter he just doesn't look the part he's thin he doesn't have a strong arm he's just an average athlete when he tries to throw the ball down field the ball just floats on him and you know that happens in recruiting sometimes these evaluators get it wrong because when I watch him play I don't see any special traits I see an average arm I see average size I see average Mobility I see average that that's what I see I I don't think he's that dynamic of a player and also on Clemson's offense where are the game changers I mean for years they always had awesome players Hopkins Sammy Watkins um Trevor Lawrence played with a few guys that were awesome I mean even just guys like Amari roders like they don't have Justin Ross they don't have any of these difference makers anymore they look slow I mean that's kind of the word that stands out to me if I describe their offense it's just they look like a slow football team and if dbo doesn't adapt I think this is what you're going to get they're going to beat inferior competition ACC is not very good so they'll probably still win you know eight nine games but when they go up in these high-profile matchups against the Georges of the world not only are they going to lose that they don't really have a shot and I I I think moving forward Clemson's got to decide are they okay with Dabo running the show like he wants to or do they want to get back into the national title mix because this way is not going going to get it done like he's going to have to embrace the transfer portal and if he doesn't um they're just going to max out as a 9 or 10 win team and not really be a true threat to win national championships uh I want to ask the audience here do you guys think Dabo should be on the hot seat again I'm not even saying he should be or is but his best days look behind him and if he doesn't adapt I do feel confident and comfortable saying he will not play for another National Championship much less win one all right let's Jump Ahead to the knight uh matchup and then we'll kind of hit Miami Florida a couple other things but Notre Dame Texas A&M A&M was three-point favorites at home crowd was rocking and it was pretty clear early on not that they would lose but that they're going to have to really win a slugfest here and win this game on the ground and with defense because Conor Wegman they're starting quarterback who's getting first round Buzz some even think he could be the best QB Prospect in this class I got to think that shifted after last night he was horrific and Notre Dame's got a great defense especially a front four that can really get pressure consistently and that makes it tough but 12 for 30 for 100 yards and two interceptions lot of these balls nowhere close to his receivers you're just watching you're just like this guy's a first round pick I don't see it he's played nine games before this how is he getting this much hype and when you look at his kind of splits against top 25 teams and not he does not play well in big games so I think he's got a long way to go and just over the course of the game Notre Dame started to get more and more going on the ground and Riley Leonard while not great and I don't think he's a first round type of talent he managed the game had some tough runs made a few throws when he had to and Notre Dame ran for 198 yards they wore out Texas A&M because A&M couldn't move the ball and they were having to punt punt punt or they were turning the ball over and Notre Dame pulls away 23-13 I think big picture for the Fighting Irish I think they're a playoff team it's crazy to say they just lock themselves into the playoff but with it being a 12 team system now and you know a team like Notre Dame probably needs to go 10 and two to get in starting in the top 10 already their hardest games left are at Georgia Tech at USC and I think they have Florida State too but but that's it like this is not a typical vaunted Notre Dame schedule like they're not playing Michigan they're not even playing Michigan State um you know USC isn't isn't that tough of an opponent at least on paper we'll see how they played tonight against LSU uh I think that was huge for Notre Dame to win last night because now they have some margin for error they could lose one of the oh Louisville is the other tough Fish game if they kind of do what they did last year but yeah they don't they don't have any games on paper where you're like oh they're going to be big dogs in that game they could be favored the rest of the way so you know if they go 11 and one or better they're for sure a lock and 10- two probably gets them in so Notre Dame if anyone has punched a playoff ticket through one week unless they fall off a cliff or have some major injuries I think they're in great position for A&M they got a lot of tough games uh coming up uh throughout the the rest of the season uh obviously they've got the Texas rivalry being uh renewed but they go to Missouri I believe uh they've got uh just pulling it up here uh let's see here they have Arkansas in a couple of weeks Missouri's actually at home uh they have LSU at home so that helps uh at Auburn Texas at home so their tougher ones are at home but I mean Notre Dame at home and you just kind of got bullied last night so not a great debut for Mike Elco in his first game as A&M's head coach uh some other thoughts around uh the sport I liked Miami coming into this year as the team to beat in the ACC and through one week I say that's aged pretty well Florida State dropping their game last week they played Monday night against Boston College we'll see if they bounce back but um you look at the course of the ACC Clemson hammered by Georgia um you know some other teams going down or just looking not that competitive North Carolina doesn't look that good like Miami with Cam Ward at quarterback Damen Martinez uh at running back and Xavier Restrepo I get it Florida's not that good but they hammered him mid Gainesville 41 to 17 and cam Ward threw for almost 400 yards and he's throwing like sidearm flicks like he's Patrick Mahomes or something like he looks really really good I think he's going to be in the Heisman mix this year and I'm not a big Mario crstal ball guy he has cost his team's games in the past with bad clock management and bad in-game decisions but if he can just kind of stay out of the way in terms of not doing anything stupid I think they have the most talent in the ACC because they have an elite quarterback and they have multiple highlevel Skool players and they're loaded on defense they hit the portal hard they've got pieces in place uh to slow people down so um I think that uh they're going to be in a good position here uh moving forward in the ACC and their schedule's not that tough either um they only play one of Florida State or Clemson can't remember off the top of my head but they'll be favored in that game more than likely so yeah I think they end up winning the ACC this year it's only one week in but they they just look the part they have the ingredients to make a run in that conference so uh I like what I saw from Miami on the flip side Billy Napier many considered him on the hot seat entering this year that's only going to heat up after this and whether it's fair or not Florida has one of the toughest schedules I have ever seen in the history of college football they just played Miami they played Texas A&M in two weeks at Mississippi State UCF for a non-con game is not easy at Tennessee Kentucky Georgia at Texas LSU Miss at Florida State they play Samford next week so they should win that but for the rest of those games I listed off I mean you better win at Mississippi State you better beat UCF at home because if you don't this team could go two and 10 and I don't think they're that good but I don't think they're that bad they will not stand for that though Napier will not survive a two or three win season so I think he's in big trouble um it has not worked out since he took over for Dan Mullen and uh the schedule's not going to get easier so uh for Florida I think they're in big trouble little rapid fire Ohio State kind of farted around for a while but they hammered akan 52 to6 this was a weird one Oregon 24-4 over Idaho and it was 17-4 late and you're just like what's going on here statistically Dylan Gabriel had a good day but they turned the ball over on Downs multiple times they had a untimely turnover a wins a away but that was not a great start Texas hammered Colorado State 52 to nothing at Michigan next week the horns are so that's a big matchup Michigan they struggled a bit and their offense they're going to have trouble throwing the football this year but their defense is loaded and they should still be able to run the ball fairly effectively they pulled away late over Fresno State 30-10 but that was 23-10 and Fresno State was inside the 10 yard line and threw a pick six to will Johnson if they score there with about three minutes left that could have gotten dicey late uh so that's a big match up next week Bama and all Miss Cruz over Western Kentucky and Ferman Penn State this was a nice win 34 to2 over West Virginia Drew Aller looked better we'll see if in the bigger matchups if he can play well but I thought he was solid Nico yam leava for Tennessee taking over at quarterback had a big day they hammered Chattanooga 69-3 Tennessee Oklahoma here in three weeks or so that's a big game in the SEC the winner of that game could kind of enter the playoff conversation in my opinion I think they're both kind of on the outside looking in right now uh but uh I think both those teams have a shot to uh to really make a run the winner of that game especially uh Oklahoma State 44 to20 over South Dakota State Kansas State 41 to6 over UT Martin uh Arizona how about this uh tatera McMillan uh learned the name for Arizona probably butchered that first name a little bit 304 yards receiving and four touchdowns in a 61-39 win over New Mexico I don't think Arizona is going to stop many people but they will have a top five offense in college football with McMillan and quarterback Noah ffid who threw for over 400 yards so they're going to be fun to watch uh in the Big 12 this year and then to round out the top 25 Iowa 40 to nothing win over Illinois State quick thoughts uh on tonight's matchup USC and LSU um I like LSU I picked them to not only win but cover the minus four um I just I'm unsure about where things sit for Lincoln rilly I think he's under a lot of pressure a win tonight would go a long way for Lincoln Riley at USC it really really would can Miller moss do what we saw in the bowl game last year and just be a distributor just run the offense I think you'll see some more just kind of Lincoln Riley basic offense just have the quarterback run it but you're not going to get those special plays that a Kyler Murray or Caleb Williams provided so um they're really going to have to stay on schedule and obviously everyone wants to see if that defense is improved after firing uh Alex grch and upgrading with the UCLA guy uh uh D deanton ly is that his name I can't remember uh but he poached the UCLA guy so um they're going to need to get some stops tonight against LSU LSU is pretty high on Gus NM I like LSU to win I don't think they'll Hammer USC but you know I think they win by 10 or so maybe it's like you know 34 24 something like that uh that would be my prediction but went 4-0 yesterday in my spread picks if LSU covers tonight clean sweep in week one so feel pretty good about that um yeah fun opening day it was fun uh late it got weird late Texas Tech almost loses to abing Christian 5251 in overtime ACU went for two in the win didn't get it Idaho was flirting with an upset over Oregon um like I said Michigan Fresno State was dicey late so you kind of got a little bit of everything good games blowouts um close to upset alerts uh it was fun and we got the game tonight and then Florida State and Boston College tomorrow night so college football is back NFL gets
