Los Angeles Chargers Get Even More Good News

Intro [Music] the LA Chargers get even more good news since the draft we talked about it in a couple videos ago that first good news was unanimously uh whether it's local people National people everyone's recognizing how good of a draft it was good draft grades across the board which is a great thing but they get more good news and we'll get right into that if you're new to the channel uh we're Detroit Lions fans and we're Detroit Lions fans with if you're in Michigan we're Jim Harbaugh fans followed him out to LA so this channel is all about the LA Chargers and uh it's kind of cool because we've enjoyed it we've enjoyed talking about the Chargers and kind of being accepted into the community of chargers fans and having a lot of fun it's it's fun just because we can kind of just talk not being like super tied into the team as far as like a fan base but just more um just watching Jim Harbaugh and can't wait to see what he does plus being Detroit Lions fans we were terrible just a couple years ago and we've watched the Lions rebuild and how you really do a successful rebuild so it's fun to kind of mirror that and see how the Chargers are doing so here's the more more good news first of all let me just go back here like I said draft grades unanimously really good next good piece of news I got two things for you is this article by the athletic said Chargers Roster Update that there were of the 87 players currently on the Chargers roster and that includes undrafted free agents new people free agents uh draft picks only 48 were on the team in 2023 and there for a minute it didn't look like the Chargers were really doing a lot in the start of free agency it was like come on where's the moves right but what's great about this is about half the players that are currently on the roster and again they've got to get all the way down to 53 so there's going to be you know a lot of these guys aren't going to make it we understand that but it's just it's a lot of new bodies refresh and this is Ortiz and Harbaugh's guys and so that's great that this roster is turning over it just needs it right it you got Justin Herbert and then outside of that and you got you know you got your khil max bossas but then outside of that Derwin James let's let's see what we can do right if you're if you're a Chargers fan you want to see let's turn this thing over and so that's what they're doing so that's outstanding then more good news is they get really good undrafted free agents and we highlighted a couple I'm just going to do one right now and that's Carson Barnhart talked about him in a video but you're getting not only nine really good draft picks but then Carson barnhard shocked he didn't get drafted I really am he started 15 games in the offensive line for Michigan last season and it was all over the offensive line and it's on the offensive line that's been the best offensive line in football for the last in college football for the last three years he was a Mainstay on there him and Zach ziner and so you just get him it's like what that's crazy so draft expert danne Brugler described barnhard as a Swiss army knife he also started two games at left guard in 21 so he can go every position except for Center he doesn't have any dominant traits that help him stand out in the NFL field but he has functional skills set and prefers to play a physical brand of football you were at I mean you you get a guy that was of course with Jim Harbaugh so he knows him really well but even if Jim Harbaugh wasn't your coach you'd be like man this Carson barnhard has been playing for Jim Harbaugh offensive line physical disciplined National Championship team for the last three years and you get him oh by the way his coach is now Jim Harbaugh again it's just a great fit and a great guy that can translate into the NFL no question the next good news that you get you start kind of plugging in Chargers Roster Overview what you did so far and this is very early but you just you kind of look at the 53 man roster if you were just to predict it out of a not out of a hat I mean you got to predict good idea but you start putting these pieces from the draft and moving things around and some undrafted guys and some depth and we'll go through this really quick the 53 man roster it's like this ain't bad at all and so a Chargers fan went from being like gez we're way over the cap at the beginning of the of the off season way over the cap we got these aging veterans that are really expensive we got you know got this new coach new GM like it just just didn't look great fast forward here's your team and it's it's not bad Justin Herbert I mean starts and ends there really I me we could we could stay right here on this spot right here just talking about Justin Herbert and what he's got to do this year and know you got him blah blah blah Justin Herbert that's outstanding so everything else just doesn't matter as much because you've got an outstanding quarterback so Justin Herbert quarterback we we know that Gus Edwards JK do I don't hate that I really don't hate Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins based on the brand of football that Jim harball is gonna play it's going to be consistent it's going to be guys leaning forward they're the offensive Line's going to be leaning on you it's yeah would you want a home run hitter at running back sure right I mean everybody does but based on what the Chargers have Gus Edwards is perfect I mean it's no problem okay here's the wide room we'll stay here just for a second because this is like what the heck what do we do Palmer and Johnston I mean come on you know gotta have you guys this year Gotta Have you doing some work in the offseason Gotta Have you need you that's just kind of where the Chargers are at with the wide receiver room lad makan I think he's going to step in and do really well but I mean he's a rookie it's GNA take him six games to figure it out same with Brendan rice Cornelius Johnson so it's these two guys if they play like they did last year especially Quinton Johnson it's like well then okay you know well then the wide receiver room is just not good but you got to believe he's going to get a little better right so this is the interesting spot at wide receiver and again they're giving you the 53 man roster so they're really cutting it down a lot can happen and I don't I'm not you know take this with a grain of salt but it's just kind of looking at it real quick at your so far it's like all right the wide receiver is still a question mark it just is tight end dley I mean I like the tight ends and that's where the undrafted free agents really came in was Zack Hines tight ends fine good blocking tight ends nothing flashy not too worried about that offensive line here we go Slater and Al beautiful right like offensive line same thing right I I don't know enough about these other guys to to talk about them so maybe let me know in the comments how you feel about the offensive line but good news there you've just solidified both tackles love it iner off inter defensive line now as we switch to that let me know let me know on this one because not any names that pop at you and and it really wasn't addressed fully in um in the draft let me know on that edge great fine I mean you just like oh yeah that's forgot I forgot we have those guys right with all the mov movement and the new young guys like oh yeah proven Pros cool linebacker now all of a sudden your linebacker just really your linebacker room's like okay Junior Coulson 63 I've I've made multiple videos on him how how much I really like him cornerback cam Hart Sant Samuel Jr we know about him Derwin James at safety special teams cam Dicker JK Scott everything looks good there so again we went through it really quick but I just I think I want wanted you to see that draft picks were good it's not all roses I mean that that that roster before I go into this rant of how good things are it's not all roses because there there was definitely some position groups it's like hey it is what it is we got a roll with it this year not outstanding but from where it was the beginning of the off season through free agency through the draft unanimously draft grades were good get the players foundational and again I said that early in the video you saw we've seen how the Detroit Lions have gone from terrible for years to whoa like this is a team this is a foundation it's football after all it it is crazy how you can have this you can have that but can you be physical can you really um build your team with toughness that's what Jim harell going to do you have the quarterback the rest of the stuff will just kind of work itself out but if you're drafting as well as you are you got Jim Harbaugh I think it's just going to be great and that's why the Chargers continue to just kind of keep doing it right and keep getting the good news that you're hoping for as a Chargers
