£10M BID FOR ARNE ENGELS & BOGUSZ DEAL OFF? | Celtic Transfer Update

subscribed so please log in and click the red subscribe button below let's go what's happening folks welcome back to the channel it is Wednesday's transfer update there's now less than three days to go in this summer transfer window and Celtic are getting bids rejected left right and Center because who knew that when you're sitting on a ton of cash you've just sold your best player for 30 million quid and it's the last week of the window clubs don't want to lose their players unless it's for a very high price so we'll get into that in more detail but we'll start with the one signing that we have got confirmed and Alex F's loan move from Barcelona H was confirmed by the club this morning and he was unveiled he's going to wear the number 11 shot let's hope he does better than the left back that wor number 11 for Celtic um bit of an odd number for a for a left back I'm looking forward to seeing him looking forward to seeing what he's got to offer um we know it's only on that initial season long loan but um we'll see how these things pan out over the course of the season and likea didn't have an option to buy um and we eventually got him back permanently so we'll see how it plays out but at least we've got that cover for left back in that competition at left back now which we haven't had for such a long period of time um and I know the Judy's out on whether we should have um tried to get somebody permanently of course that would be the ideal situation but um there's a lot of things aren't ideal about this transfer window so we are where we are we've got a left back in the door and and we move on to the other targets and that's Arie Engles who seems to be the absolute top priority for Celtic uh if you remember yesterday's video I said that by the time I'd finished adding it there might be another bid and that was the case we did Lodge a 9 million bid yesterday that was rejected uh We've gone back in with a 10 million bid today which I think is probably Celtic's biggest ever bid that they've put in um for a player from another club obviously Edward is the record signing at 9 million p and either might H overtake that when his deal gets to 9 a half million but there's no doubt that we really want to get Engles in the door the alburg manager commented today saying they he expects him to be in the squad for their game on Sunday which is obviously after the window closes but if you remember last weekend um and lead up Tower Brandon Rogers said that about Matt O'Reilly um and the next day he was on his way to Brighton so managers aren't really in control of these things it's it's the board and the directors that that run these clubs that make these decisions and I'm sure the negotiations are still ongoing between alburg and Celtic but I think on all of these deals and the rest that we're going to talk about here we're over a barel um because we need these players in as I say we're setting on a lot of money we've just sold our best player for 30 million quid um and maybe two 2 3 weeks ago Engles could have been available for 8 9 million now alburg won 11 million that is what the reports are saying so you would like to think we would get this done there's no way we can go to 10 million pound and then lose out um if 11 million P will get it done and we're sitting at 10 um are we really not going to bolster that area of the squad for the sake of 1 million pound that's the sort of area we're in like I said yesterday Club need to bite the bullet on these transfers and this is a situation that they've put themselves in um by not being efficient and getting the business done early enough we in this last week Less Than 3 Days To Go um two full business days to get all of all of these deals done and you can understand why clubs are holding is too handsome um for these players particularly if they're important players the likes at Angles who elsburg would like to keep um they're trying to push us to a higher price and you can understand why that's what Celtic would do in this situation um and we have done it often enough before so there's no doubt we want angles let's hope we can get them um whether it will be for 10 million or 11 million we'll have to wait and see um I feel like it will be somewhere closer to 11 million and if he is to sign he'll become the club's record signing but that's the man that Brandon Rogers wants we've got the money um so we can afford it we've got to just go and do it and I think that would Mark a real moment of progress for the club to sell a Midfield player for3 million and go and bring one in for 10 11 million is the sort of business that we would like the club to do more often um you can't constantly go back to 1 2 3 million players that's the thing that really cost us last summer we brought in nine players around 23 million and basically none of them have made the grade bernardo's probably the only one from last season who came in and Loan initially and we've made it permanent for 3 and a half million but there's absolutely no doubt that we need to move away from that strategy signing players in that range and if we're going to sell someone for 30 million we need to go and improve the team with someone in a higher price bracket so I think if we do the deal for Engles it will Mark a good step forward for the club and hopefully a change in strategy hopefully a step forward in the way that Celtic view transfers and I know there's lots of things behind the scenes that the club need to fix um but I think just making that step making that bit of progress to replace a player that you've just sold for 30 million with a player and a much higher price bracket from a a bigger League um that's the way the club should go and that's what we'd like to see the club do a lot more often now in a on news um next bid rejected was the5 Million bid for Austin trusty from Sheffield United Sheffield United don't want to lose the player this late in the window we've gone back with an improved offer of 52 million that strikes me as quite a low jump if they're not going to part with them in the last couple days of the window for five mowing are they going to do it for five and a half probably not they might be looking for closer to six I could see a couple of comments on social media H for the Sheffield United fans um sort of rubbishing the jump to 5 and a half million so are we going to need to go to Six for trusty I know that there's this deal for Mikey Johnson going the other way but they're separate deals and ironically enough we seem to have accepted the 2 and a half million pound from Mikey Johnson to go to Sheffield United um and we're still trying to get this bid accepted for trusty so we'll see how that one develops are they going to try and push us to 6 million again we're in the same realm as we are with angles where if we need that player to go and improve that area of the pitch we've got to get it done um if we're going to go to Five M we're going to go to five and a half and they want six um we need to do that to get the player in the door I know that you can't constantly just keep going and going um in 1 million pound increments and spend 20 million on A5 million pound player but um when it comes to the crunch if we want to go and improve the squad and these are the players that Brandon Rogers wants um and we've got the funds to get them in we've got to go and get the deals completed in the next couple of days and time is Tien and that brings us on to Matty Bots Who as a lafc we've submitted a bid that was a report yesterday there's been no update on that um we don't really know exactly where the bid is in mon terms either um but there's been no news on it he is in their squad to play tomorrow against Seattle I think um I can't see that one getting done um I think that's as good as dead H for me because you think about if he's going to play for them tomorrow night um and then the traveling there's only two days there's less than two days to go if he fast forward 24 hours less than two days to go in the window he's got to travel fairly get a medical done get all the paperwork done and there's still no news on a bid being accepted or rejected or we don't know where it's at so I think Bots um if we don't get any significant news Again by the time I've edited this video and put it up um or we don't wake up to big news tomorrow morning I think that one's definitely dead um and as I say from from the start of the week I've been saying I'd be surprised if we brought in Engles and um Bogut so we'll just wait and see in that but I cannot see that happening in the next couple of days um and obviously as I say Mikey Johnson still looks like he's he's going to go to Sheffield United um no huge news that he's he's there doing a medical or anything yet but you'd expect that to be in progress and who knows if the deal for for us to sign Austin truste is sort of holding that up in any way shape or form um we'll just wait and see but in terms of other Outward Bound players um nothing to report on that front tomorrow is obviously the Champions League draw um which is the big thing tomorrow um almost seems like the transfers will take a back step H at least for a couple of hours as that Champions League stage draw is done it's the new format we're going to be with you from 5:00 tomorrow live streaming it and you can watch along with us and see who to get in these eight Champions League games in the revamped format um if you don't know how it's going to work the pots aren't finalized yet because there's some qualifiers to to be completed tonight but um the pots don't really give you a competitive Advantage anymore Celtic will play two teams from each pot 1 two three and four there'll be eight fixtures you no longer have a head-to-head where you play each team twice uh you get one team from Port one you play them at home you get another team from Port one and you play them away and so on so as the draw goes on they'll start with partt one it'll be different to the usual um the usual style draw in the group stages as we've been used to in Years Gone by they'll draw the eight teams from partt one manually and then a software will automatically generate the the eight fixtures for each team so by the time we actually get to Celtic in pot 3 we'll already know around half or maybe more um of our fixtures because weel have been generated um and all of those teams that have been out the hat before us it's going to be interesting to see how it works hopefully it's a lot more streamlined and a lot quicker H the N Style draws and I'll be here with Chris as I say live from 5:00 p.m. so join us for that one and we will take you through it
