but as I look in the studio Lio look at this look at this we have a superstar from the St Kila footy Club Mason wood has made his way in thanks for coming in got the air horns oh yeah the R&B air horn got to use it for special occasions and rightfully so the sers it must be great to be down there at the minute of awesome win on the weekend knocking off the lad leaders in the swans yeah it was obviously a great win and um needed for the boys because it's been a bit of a rough year to this point and knock off the L leaders was uh you know good and I think all the boys bre out a little bit but ready to ready to get going again this week what was it what was the difference on the weekend oh it's a good question like I think we've started to do a lot of things right that we've been really trying to get going for a while and sort of like one thing You' get right and then something else would fall away and it's just a culmination of getting everything right and then it uh it it functioned really well on the weekend so hopefully more steps in the right direction when you have reviewed the game and you go to the last four or five minutes in the sort of save the game mode that guys were in has there been a few rfis we were working the game and there was a few little uh errors from a couple of players you went one of them thankfully but normally would have been but yeah no we haven't actually looked I think tomorrow we're going to go through and save the game so um but right you are um obviously an important part of the game is how you execute the last sort of bit and um we talked about a few things that went went wrong um and yeah I guess it's at this time of the year to to put you in um good step for when it really counts get getting those moments that you can actually go through those save the game or win the game moments are super important so we'll take massive learnings from it and is postmatch does Ross say Enjoy the win boys yuck it up tonight go for it um no cuz we're on a Six-Day Break um potentially you might get that on an 8 day Bak Ross is uh no I think we try to just you know stick to what we do week to week and keep it really simple but um yeah that wasn't one of the weeks this week A lot's been made of cudley Ross did you listen at all to Ross in the years previous when he was on the M doing his sat Sunday game only the little snippet bits that you guys put on Instagram or whatever and just you know he still has a few of those tid bits that are just absolutely as sharp as anything and you just absolutely hit you between the eyes and um yeah like nobody is out of his scope and you wouldn't want to go at him because you'll have something super super sharp coming back has he had a few for you um what did he have the other week with um him and him and uh BJ Godard obviously had a good relationship um when they were um coaching player back in the day and BJ's now a line coach so I think he was like backing out of a mid stoppage or something like that and during training and Ross sort have said um BJ take this and BJ goes oh you're worried that you can't get out quick enough and um Ross didn't take a loing to that too much he just said no I just want you to do something mate you know um get on the front foot and be proactive so yeah there's there's always those little things between those two which the boys always get a kick out of has Ross Park the green New Balance shoes he rolled in in a couple of weeks ago no no no they still come through on the rotation he's got a quiet he said back in the day when he was at foo he had quite a good rotation of uh of sneakers and he sort of brought him out but he loves the grand New Balances doesn't he with with the pants yeah no he loves him years ago we used to play uh on before the game quite a lot Ross would had this Shuffle where he' kind of hold his hands out to the side it was almost like he'd float across the surface he had this kind of interesting G it's his Aura it's his hands out yeah we've all seen it and there's a few guys that do do good impressions of Ross I'm not one of him and I wouldn't be keen on putting that out there for sure but um he's got as like most coaches do you would have played under Daisy that they all got their sayings that they say regularly and the guys like to hang on to things and that kind of thing so he's got plenty them what's is it the cobbler's Cobble oh the cob Cobble Yeah Boy a lot of boys were C the Cobo no idea we're having the conversation about things that are just um taken as everyone would know yep and like one of the ones was get to the tea that we have is a part of like our defense which is a tennis term to get back to the tea so that you can I am and we went around we were in the spars and like one of the boys goes I got no idea what get to the tea means and he's been been saying it for like the whole pre-season and he's looking on the oval where's the tea on the oval cuz I can't find it like this is C's young player but um yeah there's plenty of those things that they take for granted that people would know and just straight over top of their heads how old are you at the minute 30 yeah thanks for bringing that up mate yeah I'm going to be 31 in September so you know tooth and now to hang in there your form is outstanding the point of my question was there's players now getting around that are birth dates early in the 2000s have you noticed a real shift in how the young kids coming through are as opposed to the Skelly Wags in your day oh yeah I probably got a better um idea more than most I live with um n wo and he's lived with me for the last three well two and a half three years and then we've got an Irish kid that's come over is the same age um it's just a different world they they social media I feel bad because they're just being ingrained with the amount of social media is just out of hand and they know everything and every little bit and they ride every high or low how about this guy how about that guy in the AFL and you're just like my head would explode if I took in this amount of are they constantly staring into their Mobile phones on the socials yeah shocking I I'm not good we have a lot of downtime and I'm not good but I'm not so much on those things that I'll be watching YouTube or something like that like but um yeah they just consume Tik Tok and Instagram and it's just on and on and on and on and on and they're across everything and they know every little thing that Daisy would have said on Triple M and right and everything else got to watch you got to watch what you say I do have to Smart by you though getting the club and the young fellas to chip in and the rent pay the rent knock the mortgage off no worries real Nick Maxwell sort of are is that is I'm doing the right thing by the club on paper have they are they doing chores around the house have you got ones on dishes ones on clothes we had um we've got a few things that have to get ticked off every week CU I live with my girlfriend as well and she's unbelievable in this situation like she's doing really well and understands that it's so good for the younger boys to have U be in that environment but it was getting out of hand that she was doing most of the cleaning and the boys weren't cleaning up on themselves so we we put a system in place that every week somebody would have something and it gets done so harmonious house right so you need to introduce a Monday review in the house yeah your your off field is no good and we can roll through the the various things on off field that we could potentially go through so um yeah implementing a naughty corner I would advise hey you've come in bearing gifts we'll touch on that in a moment hang around please mate yeah so you've come in bearing gifts mate just for you mate um congratulations on everything that you're doing in the media mate I appreciate we all love it $50 two of them V to Red Rooster oh very nice so Natasha if you're listening we're going on a date we were CH briefly just before your form has been awesome it's been a treat to watch obviously you've always been an amazing ball user but at the minute it seems like you got a real confidence under Ross yeah um as I was saying to you earlier I think Ross really breaks it down to what you can do for the team and system based stuff and then show your attributes from that so yeah I mean obviously the wing role um changed up since coming to St K has been really good for me able to show my running ability and then my aerial ability and it's it's worked out really well so um yeah Ross has just been good for my confidence in executing my role so the the footy fans out there so as the wing roll so you will slide back on the fatter side of the ground in defense so that's where you can take your aerial marks helping out and then getting forward as well to try and pop up into dangerous spots yeah and I mean like both is equally important at both ends obviously if you can hit the scoreboard and any position in the ground it's super important and then the backs will love you that you might come across and chop one of their um one of their players out there that might have got out the back or something like that so um it's a very much a team role and the better you run the more impact you're going to have and then I guess my ability to to Mark the ball in the air um suits that role as well so it's been really good I really enjoyed it very nice let's hope you can follow up last week's win with another one against the crows this weekend but the afo season is just around the corner and I believe you're doing a bit of work with your afo team yeah yeah um so I did I did a bit of work uh 2022 with them and then our schedules didn't match up with their you know year mixing around and able to get back on board this year so doing a bit of craft stuff um once a week and my old uh teammate Nikki DWI coach uh has grabbed me and dragged me along for that so um yeah I really love it they they just absolutely consume knowledge like um no one else and um you know it just you just feel like your time spent really well there is there a bit of alignment generally between the teams do you do some sort of sessions together or drills together or it doesn't work out that way as well because they're in sort of different phases to us as far as their offseason and that's the way that the facilities work offseason and preseason and vice versa so um as much as we can you know get involved but it doesn't always work out that way yeah you're back to your home at Moran there were you in the Seaford era no no no uh 20 end end of the Hub so 2021 was my first year at St k but um yeah I mean there's plenty of boys left over from heard them pissing and moaning about their trip cuz Lee Montana who we work with his biggest grip was the meeting room was next to the kitchen yeah I mean I I've I have been out there and done clinics cuz they Ed it a little bit for that for those kind of things and it is just a shell there's no I mean there's no bells and whistles like it would have had you would have had back at CT and Collingwood Back in the Day Saints doing it hard but yeah it's uh I'm pretty sure they were pretty Keen to get back to moravan and a new facility there and um nothing's missed out now they made it sound like the drive took 3 hours to get there as well back it would feel like it after a loss it would indeed hey uh now tell me how's Josh battle going yeah he's going really well me and Josh get along um famously he's obviously just popped out a uh a kid recently so that's consuming his life quite a lot that's a bit of a change for him but at the rip old age of 25 26 tell him the underlying meaning to your question I just want to know that he's doing right he's a four on enough and he is thinking that maybe next year yeah he'd look good in brand and gold oh I don't know that he would I mean brand and gold is not I mean I really that's what you're going in with to the bid for him are you going like brand and gold will look good on you cuz that's that's not getting me over the line I'll give you the tip I think you know the fashion world's coming to the party slowly and I think it's funny that a lot of Hawthorn's merch is blue they've just G that not for us yeah you touched on a couple of the young fellas living with you Matas philipo did he come through yeah he came through for a bit um we him when he his second year and then he spent about three or four months and Maas definitely likes his own space which is fair enough and and wanted to get into his own space arur he got a handle on you know sort of things that I did well and could could take whatever he could take from me and tapped me out pretty quick and said i' I've done with I've I've learned everything I need off you and I'm out of there which is fair enough everyone's got to do what they need to do he was awesome on the weekend though obviously there was a bit of speculation about him requesting and saying I'm happy to play vfl until my form's good enough and it clearly worked yeah I mean it speaks volumes of like just confidence and that kind of thing and coming in and mat being such a high Talent uh there was like an expectation that well maybe not an expectation but people thought of what he's capable of and absolutely on the weekend that's what we saw so but it's how do you get that out of a kid that's that's 18 19 years old and AFL foot is an uptempo game it's certainly quicker and you sort of lose your mind in potentially what makes you a really good player and you go back to vfl and you work that out pretty quick which he has and he's come back in and done well so it's good to see very nice did you know there's a business in Melbourne called Mason wood I did not masonwood docomo does jewelry and Bridal gear maybe I should get a we've got red roer as I think's definitely ilal so don't want spor use of name use of image get in there if you get if you're getting married head down to Mason my girlfriend would love to hear that there's potentially ring for it's starting to build like you saying before I'm now so it's starting to build questions coming Left Right Center big game this weekend though you go across to adelade oval to take on the crows who were solid enough last week against the Lions but you guys as we said chalk a block full of confidence yeah I mean like I said we're just starting to jel on some of the things that we uh we've been working on for such a long time so we're going on with like really good confidence in that we're going to give another performance like we did on the weekend and at the end of the day you want to going thinking that you're going to compete and um you know the best team on the day will obviously win but hopefully we take steps forward in what we're trying to achieve and um game plan and all that kind of thing
