Intro at its second unpacked of 2024 Samsung's unveiling a huge number of products including some new photable phones as well as the salute new wearables like the new butts 3 Pro as well as the Galaxy ring but one product in particular looks kind of familiar sounds like it too it's the Galaxy watch Ultra it is Samsung's most premium smartwatch has ever made and also is most durable and you can probably tell by its name where Samsung got a lot of the inspiration for this product from so if you're not yet getting Deja Galaxy Watch Ultra Vu let me just come right out and say it the Galaxy watch Ultra basically looks like a ripoff of the Apple watch Ultra the name is the same the features are the same the color scheme is very similar a lot of the features are too I'm going to do a bit of a side by side spec comparison here the Galaxy watch Ultra has a 47 mm case y have a watch Ultra 49 mm the Galaxy watch Ultra can withstand being under up to 100 m of water so 10 adms of water resistance the Galaxy watch Ultra also resists up to 100 m of water the Galaxy watch Ultra has this rubbery orange band with a ribed kind of uh texture the Apple watch Ultra has this one as well the Galaxy watch Ultra has three different buttons on it side in fact it has a new button that Samson's introducing the Galaxy series is this orange round one in the middle which also so looks familiar and yet Samsung is a little bit different right it has three buttons here instead of just kind of two with a dial on the right like the version um on the Samsung Buttons Galaxy watch Ultra this orange button in the middle is customizable you can use it to launch Just Apps laun a workout um and although it does rotate you cannot use this to scroll through the interface it is very strange very weird not something I am used to and there's no spinning bezel on the Galaxy watch Ultra so you'll have to find another way to scroll so far it seems like you're only going to be able to use your fingers to touch the screen now just like the Apple watch Ultra the Galaxy watch ultra's buttons are also depressingly easy to depress by just pushing my palm or my hand all the way back I frequently accidentally triggered that button and so don't expect this to be something you can wear while doing a plank or a push-up without first turning it to the inside of your wrist the Galaxy watch Durability Ultra also has sapphire glass to better for protect it when you're outside doing extreme things it's going to have emergency SOS features like the siren again like the Apple watch Ultra all of that durability doesn't come with a lot of software um changes from previous versions of galxy watch don't forget Samsung already has the Galaxy watch Pro Series which is just more durable than the regular watch um if you're a fan also by the way of the spinning bezel that's not available here but you can get it in the watch class class which is about at least two generations old by now and there's also the Galaxy watch 7 that was launched this year it is basically the same as every Galaxy watch you've seen the very paired down basic version without a spinning bezel it's very similar in terms of design to its predecessor and the main differences here are in the sensors both the Galaxy watch 7 and the Galaxy watch Ultra feature the new bioactive sensors second generation it's got four times the number of LEDs it should allow for more accurate and FAS the Galaxy watch Ultra also has a 3 nanom processor made by Samsung all of that is supposed to translate to a longer battery live as well now despite the screen being able to go up to 3,000 n again very similar to the Apple watch ultra um you're supposed to get a lot more battery life out of this in fact up to 60 hours here for a 47 mm device somehow the Galaxy watch Ultra looks bigger and bulkier than the Apple watch Ultra I haven't been able to put them side by side for a couple Arison but I will say that this circle screen within a square frame situation it's adding to the sense of bulk here with the Galaxy watch Ultra it sits fine on my rist and Comfort I do have petite risk if you have bigger bones perhaps it won't look out of place I think on a Samsung Executives wrist here they look fine it's also pretty light I'm not having a lot of uh trouble and it doesn't feel very clunky and or getting in the way of me doing things right now so I think you will find that it's comfortable enough but whether or not you need to spend $649 on the Galaxy watch Ultra really depends on your lifestyle are you an extreme sports person likely to take this out into the harsh aerous environments that the real world provides and perhaps a Galaxy watch Ultra is exactly what you need now it's not clear yet whether this will do fall detection like the Apple watch Ultra will do it certainly seems to have a lot of the um Basics covering one last thing I will shout out is that Samsung did change out the sort of watch uh swapping mechanism here on the Apple watch Ultra whoops there it is on the Galaxy Swapping straps watch Ultra so basically with the push down of a button on the underside of the case and a pull of the strap you can basically release the band and swap in for any number of very familiar looking straps over here you've got the nylon rib looking one that I have never seen on any other device before for sure or I don't know take your pick but the good news is it's easy to sof in and out now so that's nice obviously to see if Samsung's claims actually live up in the real world we will have to put this thing through a full review I am about to go and fall down some more the things I do for this job and for you your reader Samsung also Galaxy Ring unveiled the Galaxy Ring which it first teased earlier this year at the first unpack of the year in January the Galaxy ring now I managed to put it on my finger it feels like a ring I mean it's a little bit Slimmer and more streamlined than the aura ring in my experience and I was able to kind of get a sense for the sizing experience here at Samsung's demo event you'll basically try out a number of different uh dummy rings to see what fits you best this is quite similar to the retail experience where you'll have a Samsung uh representative kind of walk you through the process you'll be advised to first try it out on your primary finger and then cleanse and make Fist and that sort of thing just to see if you're cutting off circulation you don't want something that's too tight but you also don't want something that so loose it's going to slip off once you wave at someone for example I think the experience is going to be better if you go into a store but if not you can always get a sizing kit ordered for $10 which will then that amount of money will go towards your purchase of a Galaxy ring if you eventually do buy one as for the ring itself there are three colors available gold silver and black they all look fine I'm not a big fan of gold rings I do like gold jewelry this really comes down to Personal Taste as well as maybe the color of your skin of course since it is such a personal long-term use kind of device I wasn't able to get much more hands-on experience here with the Galaxy ring I mean I'm intrigued by that pinch gesture that will apparently launch your camera or trigger other apps like your alarm uh turn it off for example if you want so that's something that we will also have to put through a full review to find out more on so for the full reviews of our experiences with the Galaxy Ring the Galaxy watch Ultra and perhaps the Galaxy watch 7 make sure you come back to a gadget
