Michigan State preps for season opener

For the first time in the Jonathan Smith era. It's game week out in East Lansing, Michigan State set to battle Florida Atlantic to kick off their season. And today 13 on your side, yu was at Spar and Stadium for a look at Friday night's matchup, Jacob when Michigan State football head coach, Jonathan Smith came over from Oregon State. He brought with him 28 players from the transfer portal. One of them quarterback Adan Childs, he's a sophomore now he played nine games last year. None of them being starts only throwing for 309 yards. So you got to wonder going into Friday his first start as a college quarterback. What is it going to be like for him? Head coach Schmidt says at Oregon State Childs actually felt the moment he's been in those big moments and just hasn't been from the first snap. I think he's definitely ready for this. You know, he's a competitive uh player and uh true competitors understand it's not gonna go perfect every snap and we're confident that, uh, you know, in his preparation and his instincts and how competitive he is that he'll give us a chance to score some points. Jacob, I want to reiterate Childs is only 18 years old. He was already named a captain and I want to point something out a new rule for F BS teams. This year. Childs could be one of the players with that new helmet communication. Each team is allowed to communicate with one player through their helmet. We already know that head coach Smith is planning on having a linebacker in that role on defense. Charles is going to be wearing it on offense with Michigan State football.
