they beat a Goodville team from Tennessee they had a huge game against Boer Ron and yeah we're going to take some dirt with us home good job by the kids from the shouldn't have scored and a couple errors and that was pretty much the game they didn't really out hit him there was a it was a duel to the end Braden Piper pitched a heck of a game for Pennsylvania and they have nothing to put their there's already one here down the hill down the other Hill to volunteer stadium and the international bracket where before you play baseball in an elimination game you you have a dance off you have to you got to get the kids loose that they're from about 250,000 strong about 175 Mi southeast of Havana yeah let misas and Jose Fernandez really tight together before Fernandez passed away uneski B in Alejandro Vasquez they face Mexico's starting pitcher Sergio Gonzalez gets the ball big fan of Ellie De La Cruz and we saw him pitch a little bit on Friday against Venezuela now his second outing today and his first start yeah I think it's a lot easier right when the kids go out for their second outing they know what to expect they know the environment and this is a different situation because these two teams they're up against the wall winner stays around loser stays around as well but just cannot play anymore got to win this one and Sergio Gonzalez's first pitch leaks inside to Alejandro Vasquez that would have hit the kid in uh Team Venezuela right would have hit about four kids on team Venezuela one of a few teams that's been right up on top of home plate one of the unique parts of the Little League World Series all right so this is Alejandro Vasquez the captain of this team coaches say the moment's never too big for him and yesterday against Taiwan he had a pair of singles out of the leadoff spot first time he saw eight pitches the second time he saw 10 pitches in his [Music] abs two breaking ball yeah and one of the interesting things with Team Cuba is that in the little leagues in Cuba you're not allowed to throw anything but fast balls or change UPS breaking pitches are not allowed in Cuba at their age so when they get here all of a sudden they see it for the first time [Applause] consistently this ball really well they see a lot of them and on top of that you see like a normal Mound here until they're 15 or 16 in Cuba they don't have an elevated Mound right flat surface oh it's a leadoff walk why do you think that is I think it's the philosophy of L let's protect their arms as best as they can they're still in the development stage they're still growing um we found through science now that throwing the breaking pitch does not really affect the arm as much but still they're very traditional with it and the Cuban pitchers traditionally don't have that much of an arm injury as we see here in the states at a young age there's eraldo Machado the manager for Cuba who who said before this event even started that this was an unforgettable experience in every way for all involved said it's just marvelous here's Davey Hernandez will be the starting pitcher for Cuban the next half inning had a gorgeous drag bun single in the first inning yesterday against Chinese Tye thought about it there asked some of the Cuban kids I said so what's the thing that you most love about this whole experience and they're like everything there's not one thing that more information on it but one thing I can tell you is when they got here they all all of them came with a carryon and a suitcase that suitcase came empty wow because on the way back it's not going to field yesterday I was actually out there in the Outfield behind him watching him and he had three pair of batting gloves in his right pocket he had the sliding m in his left pocket it was awesome pitching yeah he's pitching today so none of that I think that's what his extra suitcase was for just for batting gloves absolutely ridiculous and that's what they're called right the the brand of um a lot of foul territory two2 again what's the flip side to it like it opens up the gaps more well I think you see a lot of opposite field hitting here especially with the velocity that they see batad stays in the zone long you don't see a lot of pulled balls in the air you'll see either center fielder more towards left center field and their left fielder down the line 32 on the ground up the middle base hit hooko Vasquez Motors around and then stops it looked like he got a stop sign he started to run through it and then he saw it late he did he did and it was a good stop sign but then the Bobble as Hernandez Jr in center field peaked up and when he did he lost track of it let's check out the base running right here by Alejandro Vasquez he takes the turn and he notices the stop sign and by that time a little too late stays there you get pressure now with the bases loaded no outs well Mexico will make a pitching change 19 pitches into the top of the first they go to the in a with CU cheering on his son he's cheering on everybody here and he feels like he's really representing the country of Cuba as a lone parent here cheering the boys on [Applause] yeah uh wow so it's the guy on De it just brought me back to my dad not being able to see his mom my grandmother and my grandfather he's sacrificing everything for his family being here yeah so that's that's uh that's pretty darn cool and touching and adrean the father compared it to the first time he ever saw his son he's now 12 and then after a year apart they get to meet only because this team of little Leaguers won the tournament in Cuba and got here and if it would have been another team we would have seen the story for sure uh from Cuba and now he gets to be able to play the sport that he loves and his dad gets to watch him so cool and now he gets to watch him [Music] hit adrean watching Dian it's hard to wipe off a parent face in any situation but especially in this [Applause] after this Little League World Series and he's done so much to get Cuba here and represented in Pat Wilson to third Luis Longoria gets the four here they've done a lot to be able to get a lot of the teams and represent is this grass is not can't be any Greener right now Elaine cardinas yeah two they're here this year Panama's part of that as well and so two of those three get direct entry each year and then the other one and so one Champion emerges from Cuba and comes here cardinas to right and it drops down darana Rodriguez to Third and he's standing 60 ft away with his father watch side part of the plate stays up whose initials in number is on their helmets an Embrace of emotion from a 12-year-old to one of his dearly departed mentors Ricky passed away late last year unable to be here but his father's here
