he's miked up Ben Liber has joined us in the booth uh Justin Paul Allen uh let me start here how much did Sam Newton have to bug you all week to actually do this in the third quarter he bugged me a little bit but I hey he told he told me some of the guys some of the guys that I love I'm going to be talking to him throughout the third quarter so I'll say why not uh JJ McCarthy starts the third quarter playing significantly in the second quarter if Kevin oconnell were to let you call plays Justin what would you be calling uh deep balls hey I I got to go with the Deep ball I think I think our guys are some of the best at at tracking the ball deep and uh just just winning those one-on-one battles so I'm I'm going have to say with a go ball and and and and give our guys some shots down field well Justin let's just start right there with uh with McCarthy getting the nod coming out of halftime he gets a chance to kind of settle in and see what it feels like to come out of halftime after playing basically the the whole first half what what have you seen what have you lik you know to see him first time in action on the field off the field how he makes adjustments on the sidelines hey I I'm I'm very impressed on how he's been becoming this whole training camp uh nice hey I'm sorry man I'm focused into the game but uh I I think he's I think he's been doing a great job just trying to trying to be the player that he is and trying to you know trying to learn to become a part of this system and to become that that top tier quarterback yeah JJ we met earlier this week with quy damena and with Kevin oconnell and they kept talking about this guy named Speedy we were not we were not aware that it was Jaylen Naylor but there there's quite a of a battle going on for the number three receiver spot so kind of after this play we could talk about what you like about Jaylen Naylor and then what about Brandon pow that people need to know McCarthy over the middle incomplete at the 44 it is third and nine yeah the the guys you share the room with what do you think yeah I mean Speedy has been has been having a tremendous training camp I mean he's been balling making plays uh I mean he's he's been he's been that guy for us this training camp I definitely would say he's mostly the MVP of the offense uh for this year's training camp for sure but I mean we have so many different guys throughout this throughout this receiver room is is definitely going to be tough to try to pick out that that third receiver McCarthy shotgun on third down Raiders Blitz again pass over the but when he played he played full-time special teams and it look like look like he learned a lot right hey hey he's been coming along this whole training camp I mean from the time that he came in with us from the time now he's been transformed he's he's been becoming a better receiver and just like you seen just now he's he's he's out here trying to make a play he's trying to he's trying to make the roster Bo RoR with his second nice play of the second half b hey Jets I want to ask you you mentioned all these guys that are making plays today on defense they talk about positionist players everybody's got to be flexible that's been your guys' calling card on on the wide receiver group can you just elaborate like how challenging that is for these younger guys to basically learn every single position in that wide receiver room very difficult especially in this offense I mean this offense we we're more of a throw first and then run second so you know there's a lot of schemes a lot of a lot of plays that we have out there on that field that you know will be called at any time so we got to learn every single position every single formation what a line up and then we got to we got to learn a scheme so it's definitely not an easy task but that's why we try to you know preach to these guys to be on their playbooks and to learn uh the offense so when we go out here we can play more comfortable than worry about the plays and Justin earlier during the TV during the commercial break you were able to talk to Jordan Addison a little bit and Jordan getting getting the chance to play today doing some great things what did you expect out of him going into year two of his career I mean to to see how he performed last year with me going going out on injury for him to become that that number one receiver and you know to take on that role as a rookie I mean he he definitely stepped up you know he he performed when he needed to perform and now to see him going on his second year being more comfortable in his offense and more more comfortable with just himself you know just just being here in Minnesota I'm I'm definitely excited to see what me and him have you know for the for the rest of the season hey Justin in the game now undrafted from Arkansas uh Dwight mcln um he he's had a pretty good training camp hasn't he wellit I say it again Paul DWI Dwight ml 47 he's had a living up to the hype what have you liked about him watching him a little bit in Camp I mean he he's just look at him man he's he's a freak man just his body type just the way he can move just his physicality is I mean he he's definitely he's definitely one of those guys I mean to see him out here performing and and being in that in the action I'm excited to see what he's going to do for us for the rest of the year now let's let's flip the ball and talk about offensively the running game right you lose Alexander Madison I'm sure it was great to see him before the game and and say hi to him but bringing in Aaron Jones what has he brought to this offense and what do you think he will during the season I mean just just being on the opposite side of Aaron and and seeing what he can do for for Green Bay and to see the the the plays that he's making on that side I mean I it's I'm tremendously excited to see him on this side of the ball in that purple and gold uh to to see the explosion that he has the the speed that he has and he's he's that veteran so for him to have that that leadership towards our team is is definitely going to be a lot better for our offense explain to the listeners though what what exactly about the running game how does that improve your options in the passing game yeah I mean you all right well there's that so now you get to be Justin the motivator yeah man hey that the worst part about this game is there's so many ups and downs into it you know there's there's there's things that you can be happy about and things that that that you don't like so all it's throughout the game you got to hold your composure you got to keep make sure the guys heads are up and and keeping that same momentum that same energy so whenever whenever things don't go well you know it's it's a little difficult to get everybody back on their feet and to move on to the next play but you know it is what it is and you got to make sure as the leader of the team you got to make sure everybody's you know heads up and and keep on pushing well we're keeping the ball then hey Jets I was just going to say just when we thought our luck was turning they actually think that we have and just us walking balls together every single day we definitely grown uh just more as a player to coach you know I I mostly can call on him and talk to him about anything so we definitely grown that connection and uh he he's definitely becoming that that top tier coach in my eyes Andre Carter the second with the tfl there so it's second and 16 from the Raiders 31 the Vikings new faces across the board but a very important one is one of your new coaches Josh maau I mean Justin Jefferson on Brian Flores he played like 65 years in the NFL already and now he just makes the quick transition into coaching what what have you seen from him what's he brought to your team in quarterback room I mean we have a lot of coaches on this on this squad that you know have a lot of years into the league and can help us in tremendous ways and he he's definitely one of those guys I mean for him to to play this game at a high level for for as long as he played for him to be around the guys that he's been around I mean he's been a tremendous help and for him to come in and and to be with this young set of guys and to give them the information that that we need is going to be game changing second and 21 and now it's going to be third and 21 Peter and JJ sticking with the coaches Brian Flores made his debut as a viking coach last year defensive coordinator this time of Camp you're going against this Viking defense a lot what is it about flores's scheme that you that that you find challenging what do you like about it I mean hey it's it's difficult uh I mean y'all don't y'all don't really see too much of it now cuz we're trying to we're trying to keep it on the Reps but but uh I mean to see the different the different looks and I mean the way these guys have been performing in that defense are you kidding me cl it's it's it's crazy it's crazy I mean I cannot wait to see the defense actually perform in that type of that type of scheme and I mean to hear the communications that the defense been been having and I mean the way they've been connecting all over the field it's going to be it's going to be crazy once they step out on that field together week one well ever since you got on the ever since you got on the mic Bo rer has been playing like Jared Allen I mean but what he's doing to the left side of that Raiders line should be a felony in 48 man he might as well switch over and play receiver for a couple times I don't know about what linebackers traditionally have hands of stone so I don't know if that's going to work oh good catch n hey hey Justin Jared Hall's in the game by the way where do you think that you can step in right now and play on defense um I I think I could give you a good cover uh cover corner don't be able to stand in some zone now we talking manto man I don't know if I'm going to give you too much but Zone Zone I can be a ball Hawk and go track the ball off for sure well yeah I mean uh let's get this play out punted Seth buron uh first year from Portland State yes we have a punter battle perhaps Vernon was a junior college wide receiver at Center of Santa Rosa Junior College and he kicked in one preseason game for Atlanta in 2022 Justin I don't know how much you watch the punters but this guy in there now Vernon he's fast man he's an athletic punter he might as well punt the ball off and go tackle him Jefferson quickly Ben and final thoughts yeah my question for you is just like where do you want to take your game this year I mean there's not much that you need to really improve on that's just my opinion but I know that you you've got high expectations and you challenge yourself in a lot of ways but what's what's a new version of you for this year yeah I mean you know every single year I'm trying to improve myself in any way I can uh I mean there's always things that I need to work on and things that I need to improve on so you know whenever I I I sit in the off seon uh after that season uh has ended just looking over the film just you know thinking about the season how how it went and what things that I could be better on so those are definitely things good tackle those are definitely things that I I kind of look at and and kind of you know just figure out what I can do in that all season to really improve myself but of course you know coming off the injury and having the season that I had last year you know of course I want to finish the season healthy but you know I'm still shopping for that 2000 that's that's definitely something that's still on the and something that still is I'm capable capable of doing all right 30 seconds um joint practices with a physical Cleveland team next week what are you looking to get out of it I feel like that would be a great uh a great experience for us just to to go against the you know a top defense like they are they have over there uh to to get get some work in with their corners and to get some work in with their their D line to to help our o line out but you know I I like the joint practice is to to give us some extra looks and to for us to go against somebody different than when we go in uh going against our guys uh every single day throughout the week so it's definitely going to be a great time going against them and and to perfect our game in a different way but I'm excited for sure talk
