Hey, after the Monday night game
week one will be in the books. But who is the most
complete team in the nfc? It might just be
the lions coming off a beatdown of the rams. Well, it wasn't a
beatdown overtime, but 2620 Jared Goff 18
to 28 for 217 yards. Jamison Williams had
a huge day, 121 yards receiving and a touchdown. Did the lions prove that they're
legit super bowl contenders and maybe the class of the NFC. Let's relax the
class one a game. We know the class of the NFC. No we like did you have
the rams in the playoffs? Yeah, I have the
rams in the playoffs. Did you have the rams? Adam first team out
but they're very good. Look, there was a good
game, a really good game between two really good teams. They went to overtime
and obviously you win the coin toss Boop, you
go score a touchdown, game over. Right? so that I felt coming
out of that game last night the same way I
felt going into it. These are playoff teams. These are competent
football teams. These are well coached teams. These are really good
quarterbacks playing. These are two very good
football teams who are both going to be playing in January. Well, so I agree
with all of that. I have the lions
in the super bowl for the second straight year
in terms of my predictions. They made the NFC
title game last year. But the questions about
Detroit, at least for me, in the off season on the
offensive side of the ball. All right. They lost Josh Reynolds. What happens if I'm on ross? Saint brown gets hurt. They don't have a lot of
proven depth at wide receiver well Jamison Williams, former
first round pick the stud from Alabama he comes
on like you mentioned, five catches, 121
yards and a touchdown and he looked excellent
like that speed. That game breaking speed that
they drafted was on full display there, giving him the
ball on end arounds. He's just cooking, guys. So that's a question
that was answered in in week one Jamison
Williams looks ready to produce in that offense. And then the other
question has been about do they have enough on
the defensive side of the ball? And you always say that
the rams and Sean McVay, it's a power running team. Yeah, well, they ran
the ball 23 times. The rams did for 83 yards. Yeah, like the lions defense. They were tested and
they kept coming back and they kept coming back. The rams did and they
kept shutting them down. So those two questions
about Detroit, could they be tough
against the run and did they have anyone else? If amon-ra wasn't there,
man, they answered him to me. This probably what I love about
Detroit more than most people do. And we talk about those weapons. You talk about Jamison
Williamson, Williams, Williams, Jamison Williams. Yeah, that was
easy for me to say. You talk about Williams, you
talk about amon-ra brown, you talk about laporta,
the tight end position. You talk about all the weapons
they have quarterback in. Jared Goff this is a football
team that has the identity of their head coach. Dan Campbell they are tough. They are hard nosed
and all you have to do is point to that overtime drive. Nine plays, they had nine
plays, eight of them runs. Yep, eight of them runs. I mean, Ben Johnson, the
offensive coordinator who is one of these guys that is really
talked about of being next level coordinator, really understands
how to put people in places to win eight runs of
the nine you have some Danny can speak to
this you can to Denver talk radio fun with that they
just don't trust Jared Goff. I mean listen if you can do that
they kept top 10 quarterback top 10 quarterback Jared Goff wasn't
that they didn't trust Jared to drop back and over time did
it need to two quick things obviously puka nacua
gets hurt with Danny it's the same knee that he had
her issue with that burst sac burst I guess in the summer. So that's what it is. They're doing mris this morning. We'll get an answer on that. So the rams, obviously, he's a
big component of what they like to do in the passing offense. The other part of this, though,
you're watching that game and you recognize how good
both teams are and it's back and forth very similar, frankly,
to the playoff game last year that Detroit also won,
you know, by one score only a couple points
right back then. You look at it and you go,
and I was kind of half teasing about Jared Goff and
it's moot because they ran it so successfully. But that's supposed
to be the moment when your top 10 franchise
quarterback, you know, takes over. Right and leads
them down the field. It was interesting
to me that they put so much faith in the running
attack, and rightfully so. They ran a right down the
rams thoughts for the throats. The final thing on
that and I'm just going to say this for
America, both teams got to get the ball in overtime. I'm sorry. Both teams got to get
at least one shot. You got a chance to
play defense now? Yeah, no chance. The game should not be decided
by who wins the coin toss. That's the playoff ring. Come on, now. Both teams get the rock. It doesn't bother
me because, look, I have no rooting
interest in it. I don't gamble, right? From purely a fan standpoint,
I lost money on it. I'm OK. I'm getting a great
football game to end week one or at least Sunday night. Right because jets niners
tonight and I'm like now I want to see them get the ball
right I want the back and forth. And again, I didn't
lose anything. I guess from a
player's perspective, I always look at
it like, well, they pay the guys on defense, right? They pay the guys on
no, it's not tired. I mean, it's the actual
game that it's played. I will say this, like you
look at the rams right now and one thing is for
certain, the connection between between Cooper
kupp and Matthew Stafford, absolutely incredible. And you know, talking
to Sean McVay, when they got Matt Stafford, he
sat in meetings with Cooper kupp and Cooper kupp took
him through the offense. Cooper kupp is
like a quarterback. Yeah, the wide receiver room. The guy is one of the
most remarkable players in the national football league. And that connection at
21 flipping targets. Yeah, that was what was crazy. Cooper kupp looked like he was
fully recovered from the injury. He looked like a
couple of years ago. Cooper kupp one of the
catches was, I think, the catch of the week
that we could show here. It was just I mean, the
degree of difficulty on this throw down the field to
toe tap like that going, going out of bounds. He went dead like,
watch his back leg. Just dead leg to drag it
just completely ridiculous. And yet you would think I'm
not a defensive coordinator. Nicola is hurt. They're not running the
ball with any success. 2021 targets in the game. He catches 14 of them. How does he keep
getting so open? You know where he got that? Right in the turkey hole. That's the turkey hole. That's the turkey hole
between the safety and between the corner,
the rolled up corner. The safety. The turkey hole. OK I'm sorry. I'll write that down. I can't say moist,
but you can say he got that right in the turkey hole. Yeah, you can say that. Yeah, I would say this. Look what the
Cooper cup thing is. Crazy Detroit. So they're always on. They're always on
thanksgiving day anyhow. Look, you're 20 plus
targets is stupid. I would hate to play
with Cooper kupp if I was a wide receiver
or a tight end on that team because I'm never
getting the ball. You don't even look
in my direction. Well, let's see what
happens if puka nacua. It's like in basketball,
your guy gets the ball. He never gives it up. Like at some point
at Cooper cups. Great I'm not
suggesting he's not. Yeah, and I know why Matt
Stafford goes to him all the time because he's always open. Yeah, but I'm telling you, at
some point, if I'm a tight end, a running back or
another wide receiver, I'm like, why am I here? Like, you never
look in my direction because you're, hey,
because you're in charge. You're in charge of
running the decoy route.
