CMC ‘wants to play’ in Week 2, Jets fans overreacting to their Week 1 loss? | NFL | BREAKFAST BALL

all right boys well we've got panic in the streets of New York as the Jets struggled in a loss of the 49ers they have the Titans week two Aaron Rogers urges the fans he's talking to you Craig not to freak out over the L Craig you're driving the Panic wagon our fans a little bit too panick because of what you've done I'm not driving but I'm gas in the tank I'm getting ready look uh we were panicked we're overreacted to one loss because we're so desperate for success and we've been sold this bill of goods that this is our year not just because of Aaron Rogers but because of this defense that we've been told is going to be the greatest defense in football and San Fran abused that defense especially on the run with a guy we never heard of in Jordan Mason right so I'm with Aaron they didn't lose the Super Bowl Monday night they didn't get knocked out of the playoffs on Monday night but losing in the way they did makes all of us question you know are they playing games with us is it smoking mirrors is it you know is Oz The Mentalist now you know inside our heads going and you know we're gonna be a bad team I will tell you this not because they lost that game but because of how they lost that game this game against Tennessee is an absolute must-win game and like I said yesterday you can't win 1716 this has to be a beat down a throttling of a team that we saw against your bears look like crap I wrote a word down here he used weave we what we've been told about the what about the Jets defense he doing a lot of the telling yeah I'm like what weave what do you have a mouse in your pocket you and your mouse have been tell you have been telling America that this is an issue with the defense and I happen to agree with you because when you when you're touted as this unbelievable defense and they were last year there's no question that defense kept them in I mean it kept them in games it kept them in play picture kept because they could do nothing offensively and then to come out there and have a coach that used to coach the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers to understand the matchups to understand the scheme to understand all that stuff and to still get your ass kicked well that's Point stop on that if you may just for a sec we're not overreacting to the well let me rephrase that we're overreacting to the loss we're not overreacting to the how the how is a problem also look who is he talking about I I mean maybe he's talking about you and how drinking a beer on set the next day but like who who is he talking about CU he say that was like a weird media commentary that he the league is covered so differently than when I said Relax back with the Green Bay Packers no it isn't it's social media he reads the comments right but social media existed when he said Relax there was 24-hour new GRE Bay New York's different than Green Bay sure but the league is covered at at a at a national level so I'm just I don't know exactly what he's talking about in terms of panic but I don't think it's an overreaction even if that is out there because again this isn't about them winning nine games it's not about them being better than they were with Zach Wilson they don't have five years of a window with Aaron Rodgers this is supposed to be a Super Bowl or bus thing so what we saw on Monday night we have to ask questions what if the Jets defense is good but not great it's a problem what who's the third best offensive weapon on the Jets right you say Garrett Wilson you say Bree Hall Y where are we going next if you look at the way they play Danny and this to your point if you looked at the way they played it was Garrett Wilson and then the next like the the next kind of star of the game if you will on offense was the offensive line protection no no one sees it that way trying to find is Alan Lazard really going to be that guy what I'm saying I'm what I'm saying when you're talking weapons and you have to resort to well the off of line didn't give up a lot of pressure right right like that's a problem like that's a problem when it's Alan Lazard dropping I mean first third down the problem the problem look the offense wasn't great you saw a couple glimpses okay I you saw a seven- minute touchdown drive you saw a free play touchdown from Rogers but the analysis of the Jets coming into the year was they just need competent quarterback play because the rest of the roster is excellent by right did that roster look excellent no so then you need MVP caliber Aaron Rogers and does anybody realistically think that at 40 coming off of an Achilles a guy who looked like a statue he the arm looked good the accuracy was there does anyone think MVP Aaron Rogers is coming through that door which is why this game I know it's only week two but it's a huge deal for the New York Jets because you can write off losing a road game against a team most people think is a lot to be in the NFC championship game yeah but when you start looking inside the numbers yeah have a Christian mcaffry in playing that game and yet we worst run defense in all of football in week one so Titans New England Denver I w't even get to Minnesota the New York Jets have to be three in one right and then the conversation will be okay they've wred the ship but again it's about a Super Bowl sure so can they beat the good teams well they have to be three in one this defense has to play at a level that we expect this defense to play at and oh by the way Rogers has to develop one or two other guys that are weapons that he can rely on those things are the things that need to happen in these next three weeks look the other thing I don't want to get two in the Weeds on it's one game and I think they'll be a lot better offensively against the Titans I don't think the Titans are very good uh we saw them against the Bears obviously but you know we have a tight end who's pretty good Conlin not ex like I really like K I like him but non-existent we we're not g to get anything of Piers out of Mike Williams just yet Lazard was really the number two target next to Garrett uh in that game and the first pass he throws him him he drops and breea in runwell yeah so all of a sudden we're like What are we right and have we been sold a bill of goods well let's just stay with the theme of that Monday night game and move on to San Francisco who put that who's your daddy whooping on the Jets and Christian mcaffrey surprise scratch on Monday night week two in question will he play will he not but if you ask him he's going to play well here's the deal like what are we doing he's he's a player that's his mentality and the organization's responsibility is to basically be the gatekeeper right and to say you are too valuable to us like you can train like you're going to play you can meet like you're going to play you can study like you're going to play but let me tell you what's not going to happen you're not going to play because it's our resp yeah it's our responsibility to protect you from yourself because you know what players get paid to do to play yes right that's what they get paid to do they get paid to play that guy is a competitor that guy wants to play that guy is a phenomenal phenomenal football player but you have to protect Christian from himself because he'll go out there and he'll injure it worse and so that's their responsibility and I think that's exactly what will happen I I do too I would be surprised if he plays they should not play him if he's not 100% healthy like the Jets it is a super bowler bust season for the Niners if they make an NFC Championship game and lose like all right great season but we've seen it before if they make a Super Bowl and lose we'll be like all right great season but we've seen it before they need to be hoisting the trophy at the end of it for it to actually be a success and the other thing is I know this is a little reductive but I still think it's just worth knowing and you guys know how much I value Kyle Shanahan and that system I think he's one of the most valuable people in the NFL we have a large body of work of him in San Francisco since they've been good 2019 when without Christian mcaffrey to now basically 130 yards a game rushing since he's had Christian mcaffrey 143 rushing yards per game now that doesn't account for what a defense does with game planning for Christian mcaffry that doesn't account for him in the passing game I understand understand that but Kyle Shanahan has just simply proven that when he has KD and Debo and Trent Williams and this great roster they run the ball they they do not need him i' interested to see like what what it equates to from the standpoint of explosive plays with Christian mcaffrey in the passing game how many explosives versus without Christian mcaffrey how many explosive plays uh and I am by the way I'm a General Studies major from the University Idaho so I don't know reductive that's going have to that word Rive simplifi simplifi dumbing it down dumbing it down that I know speaking that that is in my wheelhouse is in my see ball ball fire hot we learn Fire cool um we learned we learned be of valuable L there didn't we you got a running back in Jordan Mason like I that wasn't a fluke there's no such thing as a fluke when you run for a buck 47 the New York Jets defense so listen this is about I want to play We respect it obvious but he ain't playing and they don't need him to beat the Minnesota Vikings basically a touchdown favorite I'm surprised it's not even more than that they're going to beat the Minnesota Vikings they're going to win a lot of games this year and if we all agree we do that them and maybe two or three other teams are legitimately Super Bowl or bus and that's reasonable right I don't play him until I get a full doctor's report that there's nothing at all wrong with his calf his Achilles his ankle his toes he ain't playing for a while no I I completely agree you've got to shut him down because he is that valuable especially down the stretch ront and what he does like I know he's a great running back but what he does in the passing game and he's excellent he's a 2,000 yard guy said yesterday Mark you live this look you don't win either Super Bowl in Denver without Terrell Davis no one's going to argue that yeah but he had his migraines and other injuries sure Mike Shanahan went to other guys who had great success did they not yeah and then when Tero was ready he came back and you won a Super Bowl's and then you w another one there's no question the other thing in the passing game that dude can line up outside the numbers there were some Scouts that would say hey man he could be the wide receiver coming out of this draft class right because he is so good at Route running so that is one of those things I don't think they're panicking like the Jets are panicking or like other teams are panicking F base is
