We Gotta Talk About The PS5 Pro...| Cost, Online Anger & More

what's up everybody Welcome to podcast now I'm Alex and in this video we got to talk about the PS5 Pro I watched it this morning you know the mark cery presentation and and look for as many things as I'm going to say in this video and we're going to talk about the price we're going to talk about the anger of people and I think a lot of it is Justified right I do want to just throw out that I still think Mark cery is a brilliant mind one of if not the most brilliant people um honestly in gaming right now and I do think when it's his time to go and retire that's going to be a huge loss I mean this guy is an architect at heart obviously giving us Knack as well but you know ps6 is probably his last run you know and then once that's over I highly doubt he's going to be still uh you know working to uh kind of give us what the ps7 is going to be however maybe at this pace we don't really want to know what the ps6 and 7 are but no I don't know I feel like this is a um this is a mistake right but I don't think this is a a fullon plan or full-on showing of like where we're going for PlayStation I I don't know if I would expect the ps6 to be as disappointing and uh as filled with anger as the PS5 Pro I do want to throw it out there and I want to throw out that I have a lot of respect for that guy and I don't know he he's obviously a pretty big deal and I don't think it really has anything to do with him but let's talk about it so one of the things I wanted to do right because you see the frustration you see the anger I actually wanted to look back at the PS4 Pro right this is not the first time we've had a pro console what was the reception like to the PS4 Pro an easy one is likes to dislikes on YouTube and the PS4 Pro was actually massively well received it was I mean there it's nothing like this this is this is astonishing now there are just more likes and dislikes in general right now than there was back on the PS4 Pro uh it's getting more views it's going to get more views at the end of the day you know then and versus the p uh PS4 Pro but it is unbelievable how many more disc likes and and it's ratioed like it is it is almost double the dislikes depending on what you're watching the the mark cery presentation is a little bit more liked but it's still massively there's more dislikes than likes the trailer for the PS5 Pro is like two to one two dislikes for every one like it is insane and now is it unjustified I really don't think it is now I think a couple things can be true at the same time I think the console is in a way impressive I think what it's doing that pssr you know I I I was trying to hang with what he was saying I remember when he did I think it was the PS5 you know Podium presentation I don't think I was like hanging on to like the lingo of the technology stuff I mean I I feel like he either dumbed it down or just the way they presented it was a little bit better this time but you know it sounds powerful it sounds like you know if you're getting into this generation right now and you haven't had the other consoles is this something you think about think about maybe not buy but is it something you think about I think it is it's very expensive and it's probably too expensive but again like if you're jumping from PS4 and Xbox One and you're jumping into this this generation is this something that you consider if you don't already have a PS5 or like a series X I think it's something you consider But ultimately we'll see how well it does right like you know the PS4 Pro didn't sell astronomical and and a thing to remember is these Pro consoles are not supposed to sell AST e omally well now I wonder if it's going to sell literally at all but it's not meant to like do the same numbers as you know like the PS5 is doing really well I don't think the PS5 Pro is supposed to do as well as the PS5 so these are all things to throw out there not in defense of it but just as like other things right to kind of keep in mind in terms of the negativity I got a couple ones I do want to start out with one that I've seen you know a couple people speak to online and and I feel like it's right at my alley when we're using The Last of Us Part to remastered to show off a new console we have a problem it is time to panic and look I mean I talk about PlayStation all the time on this channel I'm not anti- PlayStation anything like that we know there's games coming Bend you know blueo Naughty Dog Santa Monica pretty much every one of their teams is working on a game right now and and a game that could be coming out within the next one to three years right there is a lot coming but this generation has been outright terrible for both Xbox PlayStation I truly believe this has been the worst generation either of them have had maybe ever now I'm a little bit more well-versed in PlayStation I'm almost willing to say this the worst exclusive generation they've ever had and honestly I feel like it really comes into focus when you do this when you are showing the PS5 Pro and your big games coming out this fall to try to sell it is an until dawn remake on a 99-year-old game that maybe shouldn't even be happening and then Lego Horizon and I guess you have astrobot right you do have a lot of games that are getting the patches but and and again like the technology is cool that AI scaling like again like I'm not going to pretend like I know everything about these technology things but like it it's powerful I I like how he explained it you could see the differences you know rat and clanky showed the last of us like yeah is it an upgrade over the PS5 100% actually like 45% you know they showed in some of those stats like it is a legitimate upgrade to the PS5 and again I think it's something you think about if you don't already have a PS5 but if you have a PS5 to spend that money and we're going to talk about money in a second but I want to kind of finish up the gaming thought it it's just upsetting when Ratchet and Clank Spiderman and The Last of Us Part Two are your games that you're showing off for like do do we not see that as a problem right maybe you know like Spider-Man and look has there been good games on the PS5 exclusively yes there has but there hasn't been too too many of them I mean we're in year it's been four years four years this November and we really don't have a lot of them and you know even like this year you don't have you you have Final Fantasy 7 rebirth you have Stellar blade but this is where like that third party stuff kind of stings a little bit more right because like this is your console now you got to show off your games and yeah you got the Hogwarts legacies that that's getting a patch and you know things like Allen wake 2 is another one right you can use third parties to help you for sure but it just I feel like just looks bad and it feels bad just like watching the presentation and I'm seeing the difference in the last was part two is there a difference 1,000% it's actually night and day like it does look legitimately better but we're using a game that came out in June of 2020 before the PS5 even released now we're using the remaster version but we're using it's it's the game that came out four years ago not even on this console you you know what I mean we're using Ratchet and Clank that came out in I think June of 2021 why are we doing this you know so that's something that just is kind of upsetting in the PlayStation ecosystem not even just the PS5 Pro then you get to the price right so okay is the console itself actually worth $700 I don't know but what I can tell you I want to look at this okay real fast Jeff Keeley uh posted a tweet that that was really interesting adjusted for inflation inflation is very important especially when you do these movies all these movies are setting records well let's adjust these big movies in the 9s or early 2000s let's adjust it for inflation those movies made a lot of money right but PS1 $611 PS2 $546 PS3 was just where they would w we know this we know PS3 was the Dark Ages you know early on 778 the most expensive of any of these PS4 dropped massively to 538 PS4 Pro even less $522 PS5 back up to 606 the first time you know it's been that high since the PS3 and the PS5 Pro $699 only the PS3 and see here's the thing honestly like you can look at this adjusted for inflation and you know whatever you can have whatever opinion you want it's interesting to me that the two consoles that has caused the biggest stir in the community are the two highest priced ones adjusted for inflation you look at all of those there's seven in all the highest ever was PS3 at 778 miles above even the PS5 Pro you know actually funny enough but that was hated nobody I mean and that's why PS3 actually started from behind that generation if you remember they actually caught up and PS3's actually outsold the 360 many people think it's because of the disc drive and being able to do Blu-ray but you know that could be the reason but ultimately that's the story the PS3 started very slow and it took years to kind of rebound including cost cutting and all that stuff and uh you look at that right PS3 is the highest one what's the next highest is PS5 Pro funny enough PS5 is just underneath the PS1 that was probably I wasn't around to get a PS1 day one but that was I assume expensive for the time but it's just interesting right PS3 I wasn't around but I I knew about it I mean it's long been talked about and we know the history of of PlayStation and the PS3 era and how they started so it's just funny that you have that and then now you have a lot of people upset PS5 Pro it's the second highest cost so also forgetting the adjust for inflation is $700 too much yeah kind of is now here's the funny part not even that funny it's $699.99 right for us the prices across the world are freaking insane this thing I believe is like $960 Canadian I think it's 958 something like that almost a, Canadian dollars this thing is is in the thousands depending on which currency that you're in I can't believe it like now you know look when the PS5 has you know was coming out Xbox series X like you have a lot of people online that do the whole L just get a PC like you know going back and forth with that now I would argue that getting like a really strong PC you know is going to run you two three $4,000 and it's much much cheaper to get a console but you can get a pretty good PC for what 12 13 14 $1,500 so you're still doubling the PS5 Pro but you can get a pretty darn solid PC for that and probably a PC that's stronger than the PS5 Pro right right now you're doubling the cost but at least you don't have everything else all the other messes we've talked about right like have we even really started this generation yet where are all the games ps6 is four years away that's where it starts to hurt it right because you know even even if you spend $500 more dollars on a PC You could argue that's that you know buying the PS5 Pro is still a better deal but when you combine everything else like this is the weakest as I said earlier like I really think this is the weakest gen that PlayStation and Xbox but specifically here for PlayStation it's the weakest generation PlayStation has ever had at least in my lifetime and my lifetime is the entirety of the PS uh Playstation uh life so I don't know like all of those things combined is it worth $700 to me it's not worth $700 also across the world it's more than $700 is like the cheapest it gets again like in Canada you have ,000 like that's unbelievable but here's the biggest kicker and I saved it for last two final things to talk about number one the thing that it stands on okay it's the thing that literally makes it stand up how it is advert look next to me here look next to me do you see what it's doing here it's standing up right you can have the PlayStation laying down in fact I think many people do have the PlayStation laying down but it's advertised right here as standing up the stand is separate you actually have to pay extra now I think it's only like $102 I don't know for sure but it's just hilarious to me that the advertising uh Str structure of it is unavailable unless you buy the extra thing and then the final final part uh something that I'm actually a pretty big Advocate against is it's only digital it's only digital now you can get the dis drive but I think people were doing some of the math like to get the stand and to get the disc drive you're looking at almost eight I think it's 780 I think it's $780 before taxes so you are looking at approximately 850 or so like it's almost a thousand us now do it for Canada now do it for you know the UK all these other places you are spending ,000 if you want the pro to stand it up and a disc drive to play your disc based games almost a th000 if not more than a th000 depending on where you are this is where it starts to get too much this is where you can absolutely make the argument that just going a little bit higher and getting a a medium range PC for the next four or 5 years is about fine compared to the PS5 Pro this is where we're at so again like I said some positive I don't want I don't want it to be like all negative because ultimately people will buy this thing and I have I don't care you know that's another thing I I definitely want to kind of lay the groundwork on I stand on the same thing I always stand on like your money is your money right so you spend your money how you want to spend it I'll spend how I want to spend it um there's nothing against it if you want to buy it if you if you don't want to buy it I think that's what makes my channel kind of unique I have total respect if you're getting it and if you're not getting it it it's your call and it's your money and it's your life so I want to make that known but it's crazy and it does have ramifications going forward I can't I can't believe it like again is an upgrade it absolutely is it is the best PlayStation console that's out like that that's true that's absolutely true but the issue is everything else the you know it's not a great time now they can't control the economy they can't control the world right so I don't want to put that on Sony and on Microsoft right that's not up to them and I I'm not going to put the blame there but it's still too expensive it you know the disc drive and the stand is kind of hilarious and it's really it's really like a coming together of all the weaknesses that we've seen so far of this generation and and for me it's like a Tipping Point or like a blowing up point right where it's like we've been saying these things we've been noticing these things now it seems to be all coming together because of the pro and now it's like falling over and it's h it's an issue it's a pretty big issue so you let me know let me know if you're going to get it in the comments make sure as
